Having read and adored 59 Memory Lane I could not wait for this return to Pengally. I do think if you haven’t read 59 Memory Lane you should read it first (a) because its wonderful and b) it will give some clarity to this story.
Celia Anderson is brilliant; her writing is gorgeous and the way she tells these stories, brings her characters to life is wonderful.
With ‘The Cottage of Curiosities’ we have a lovely tale of self discovery, love, hope and acceptance. Friendships and relationships play such important roles within this story.
We meet Grace who is searching for information on her biological parents, and finds herself heading to the coastal village of Pengelly. Here she effortlessly fits into the community, making friends as she uncovers the truth about where she came from. All of that on top of managing and utilising an extremely special, maybe magical, skill to help those she gets close to.
An absolutely heart-warming and uplifting book, a real curl up, get cosy kind of read. I cannot recommend this enough.

Celia Anderson provides the perfect treat by bringing us back to Pengally, this time with Grace, May's daughter, at the lead. Grace has inherited an ability, but how can she come to know more about it when she's only just learned of her past? A delightful read that'll take you all the way to Pengally and make you not want to leave.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading 59 Memory Lane and was so looking forward to this.
Have to say, I wasn’t disappointed at all. It’s utterly FABULOUS, FANTASTIC ETC.
At the age of 54 Grace is shocked to find out she was adopted and this makes her feel like she’s been living a lie her whole life.
This news, makes her think that it might explain a lot of things, such as the gift, which has worries/plagued her all her life.
She sets out to find out about the woman who she thinks abandoned her - May Rosevere. Thinking the gift may be linked to her, or maybe she had it too, that’s why she’s maybe inherited it.
Travelling to the village of Pengelly, she feels like her mother is calling her home through this gift.
Highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

A wonderful tale of love, hope and friendship. The story follows Grace in her search for her birth mother and takes her to the village of Pengelly where she makes friends and explores the reasons for being adopted. Along the way she hones a talent inherited from her mother to help her new friends. A truly heart-warming and uplifting book.

With thanks to netgalley and ceila Anderson for an early copy in return for an honest review.

An amazing story. I do think you need to read 59 Memory Lane first. I am glad Grace found happiness and love and peace and knew the truth who her addoptive father was. I did not guess who it was. A very well written book. I loved the idea of the guest house. Also how people knew May had taken things. It is a brilliant book. Also the parts how Tamsin felt as a 7 year old were very well writen
