Thank you to the publishers and to NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this book to review!

Firstly I love the 'Note to the Reader' at the beginning of the book which explains how the book can be read. "Throughout the Year with John Stott" is essentially split into three parts:

1. God the Father (Creation to Christ : September-December),
2. God the Son (Christmas to Pentecost : January-April) and
3. God the Holy Spirit (Pentecost to Parousia : May - August).

Stott explains that the reader can jump in and join the story at any point. Each 'part' is preceded by an introduction and each week by an explanation and checklist. As there are no dates per se, it's possible to use the book perpetually.

The book tells the whole biblical story in a series of daily devotionals. Each devotional consists of a passage of Scripture, a reflection and further reading. This format allows busy people to experience Scripture daily, but also permits those with more time to engage more deeply and better understand the links between the Old and New Testaments.

I'll definitely be making a purchase of the physical copy of this book. I can see it being one that I would enjoy and benefit from reading every year.

I couldn't help hearing John Stott's own unique voice as I read this devotional. It has a surprising depth and breadth of insight for a devotional and I like that very much. Thoroughly biblical and with enough theological depth and insight to satisfy the soul and leave you hungry for more. Highly recommended. I will purchase this when released and add it to my selective choice of daily devotionals.

Thanks to NetGalley and Lion Hudson for ARC.
