This is a personal finance book with "AI" in the title. Nothing special here. Decent advice, yes. But the title is misleading. If you're seeking personal finance, this may be helpful.

Thanks for the ARC for review.

AI and automation were already on track to change the workplace landscape. The pandemic has only accelerated this pace. So the books comes at an opportune moment, emphasizing on both the "why" and the "how" for financial independence.

Readers will get actionable advice on various financial matters - how to increase your saving capacity, how to invest, how to tackle debt, etc. Not many books talk about how the federal reserve works, which should give readers an indication of how thorough this book is.

If you are looking to learn about AI to "upskill" yourself or leverage AI to add an income source, this book is not it... Also, for someone who already follows the basics of money management (pay credit card in full, save 10%, etc. ) some parts might feel repetitive which is why I went with a 4, rather than 5.

Otherwise this book is fantastic.
Must read for anyone making less than a million dollars per annum.

I featured this book in my Forbes.com Leadership column and on Costa Rica FIRE, a personal finance blog:

3 - Overcome AI: How to Build a Secure Financial Future in the Age of Artificial Intelligence by Scott Gamm – to make career success irrelevant by achieving financial independence

Overcome AI: How to Build a Secure Financial Future in the Age of Artificial Intelligence by finance journalist Scott Gamm offers financial, not career, advice. Yet, it is absolutely a career book because its premise is that you need financial independence (income not tied to a job) because career longevity is shorter than you think, and with the onset of AI, you don’t really know how long you have.

I have written before about a future without jobs, so I am glad that Gamm is also sounding the alarm. Gamm’s solution to target financial independence is one option. While I have also concluded that everyone needs to be a money manager, there are other options to secure your career than a financial one. Entrepreneurship enables you to make a job for yourself. Knowing how to change careers, from an outdated field to a high-growth area, is another possibility. However, if reaching financial independence is a route that interests you, Gamm provides an overview of how to achieve it.
