I have just read this thinking that it was a full book. I am so disappointed as I absolutely loved it and cannot wait for the full book to be released.

This looks like an excellent read full of suspense and thrills!

I look forward to reading the finalised copy!

I love crime thrillers but I sometimes feel a bit weird reading a book about detectives and serial killers when I'm staying with family over the Christmas holidays. Now I have the perfect excuse - a crime thriller set at Christmas! Using the Twelve Days of Christmas is a really interesting and unique idea for the story, not one that I have seen before and I enjoyed the way the background to the story was set up. I can't really say much more after only reading the sample but I am definitely excited to carry on with the rest of the book.

I am intrigued. I am hooked. I am invested. I am anxious to see what happens next

I NEED MORE.

I obviously knew this was only a teaser and not the full novel when I downloaded the e-galley, but now I am a bit regretful that I decided to do so, because I wish it was the completed book because I am so eager to find out what happens next!

This story immediately captured my attention, and I found it to be a very unique thriller story, as I think the twelve days of Christmas plot is very interesting one. Since this was only a sample and therefore I was only able to get a partial feel of the story, I can't say with 100% that i'll love it but so far it seems promising.

I love holidays, and holiday themed stories, I love thrillers, and I love stories that hook me from the start, so this book seems right up my alley!

I can't wait for the book to be released in its entirety so that I can continue on with the rest of the story!

I am a little heartbroken that this was just a teaser because it pulled me in right from the beginning.
The pages just flew by with the plot being incredibly captivating. I am eagerly waiting for this to be released so that I can grab a copy and find out what happens. HIGHLY recommend it.

Brilliant little teaser and yes I want to read more. I was gripped by what I've read so far and enjoyed the characters.
Sigh, I guess I will have to request the book.

This is a short teaser for the first book in a new series by Alex Pine featuring Detective Inspector James Walker. Taking this sampler up to the end of Chapter 12, it introduces us to James and his wife, Annie. James, a police officer working for the Metropolitan Police and National Crime Agency has discovered a major London crime lord who he helped convict has just been released early from prison. There was always an issue of retaliation, but when on the day of his release a brick is thrown through the window of James and Annie’s home, they decide to relocate to the sleepy village of Kirkby Abbey in Cumbria. It’s now Christmas and it isn’t the same high powered, fast paced lifestyle that James is used to, but when a parcel is left for him on his doorstep containing a dead bird and a cryptic message, James finds himself thrown into this case.

This was only a sampler of the book, but by the time I got to the end of chapter 12 I was well and truly hooked! It was very easy to get into the storyline from the first page, and the writing was very clear, easy to read and not overly complicated! I love a good murder book where the only thing I need to think about is who the killer is, and not be distracted with complicated who’s who, what’s what and where’s where! DI James Walker seems like a good, solid, dependable character. He loves his wife; he loves his job and just wants to catch the bad guys! His wife, Annie though does seem to be hiding some secrets from her past, which has come flooding back to her after moving back to her childhood home.

Only a fraction of the book in and already we are teased with several suspects, and I’m sure we will be given a few more as the book moves on. Unfortunately, this book just stopped before the pace well and truly picked up, so I will have to impatiently wait until it is released in October to find out what happens next! I will definitely be keeping my eyes peeled for when this is available so I can pick up the story again! This looks to be the start of a great series – easy to read, likeable main characters and plenty of suspects and motives to mull over! Come back in October to read my review for the whole book!

I had seen this mentioned by some fellow bloggers on twitter so was pleased to find the teaser available via Netgalley. With DI James Walker having moved from London the the slightly more slower paced Kirkby Abbey after some threats, he was shocked when he returned home one night to a package and a threatening card stating that there would be 12 murders in 12 days. What he was not sure about was if it was a hoax or if it was linked to his time in London. The opening chapters certainly have got me intrigued as to how this book is going to play out. DI Walker is going to have his hands full dealing with a mounting list of suspects all at a time when his extended family is about to descend upon him for Christmas. I cant wait to read the rest of the book and it is now pre ordered and part of my TBR pile.

The problem with a Preview is not discovering all the solutions to the Mysteries! Detective Inspector James Walker and his wife Annie, a supply teacher, leave London when a criminal James helped convict is unexpectedly paroled. Moving into her childhood home in Cumbria, they have scarcely settled when they, and others, begin receiving threatening Christmas cards referencing Twelve deaths in keeping with the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas. Then Annie's angry uncle disappears from the village. Are James and Annie the targets, or is the entire village in danger? I'll have to read the full book to find out.

More suspects than you can shake a stick at in this English village mystery--crime boss, friends, neighbors, relatives, jealous co-workers. Will James and Annie Walker make it through the holiday season with their lives and marriage in tact? Will D.I. Walker be able to prevent a serial killer from following through on his promise to carry out 12 murders? I will be looking forward to reading the rest of the book and subsequent titles in this new series.

I cant wait for this book to be released.
The taster was so good. I'm desperate to know more and who is sending the threats.

The teaser for this Christmas killer chiller sets everything up nicely! We’ve got some great suspects and some creepy, threatening Christmas cards with the promise of twelve murders over the twelve days of Christmas – not to mention a gruesome dead partridge - what more could you ask for during the festive period? Great premise and a good pacy beginning – I can’t wait to find out if the killer delivers!

In the first chapter I was unsure, not enough information about the characters to draw me in straightaway. The focus was more on a previous event in their lives that felt important but we weren't getting to experience that story. I felt like when I start a book that had a prequel I wasn't aware of. By the end I was hooked and disappointed to realise it was only a sample. It's a slow start when it comes to the characters, I still don't feel invested in them emotionally but I'm definitely intrigued to find out more about them. I can't wait to read the rest to find out what happens. The plot is what grabbed my attention and looks like it's going to be great. I'm hoping to fall in love with the main characters because I love finding a new series to obsess over. I've rated four stars purely because I don't know enough about the main characters yet.

Review based on a teaser courtesy of Avon books.
DI James Walker and his wife, Annie, have moved from London to A small village in Cumbria. A different pace of life for James and the threat of an old case is hanging over him. Just before Christmas a package arrives that could spell the end of peace for the village.
Brilliant characters and easy to get sucked in to! Look forward to finding out what happens after chapter 12!

This is only a teaser but I’m already so much into this book

This is definitely a book you should read , promise it will grip you from the beginning .

This is a police procedural with a festive setting. James, a detective inspector in the Met moves to Cumbria when the threat of vengeance from a gangland boss looms. The village in Cumbria, the childhood home of his wife Annie has its share of deceit, hate and secrets but is someone willing to kill?

James is a likeable protagonist, straightforward and dedicated. Annie's past in the village is chequered. Has her moving back started something dreadful?

In this initial sample of the story, there are no murders, only menace and threats. Suspense builds as the possible suspects emerge.

This is going to be a Christmas the villagers' don't forget. I look forward to reading what happens next.

I received a sample of this book from Avon Books UK via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is certainly what it states.
A teaser.
I’m loving the sound of this book and think the full version will be pretty damn good.

The teaser of The Christmas Killer, provided by Avon Books through NetGalley, was excellent! I already know that I need to read the completed book to find out what happens.

In the teaser, we are introduced to a host of characters who all seem to hold a secret. Kirkby Abbey, the quaint setting provides an excellent holiday escape, even though we quickly find out that everything is not as it seems in this quiet village. Tense relationships, decades old grudges, and secrets quickly come to the forefront as mysterious packages and post cards begin arriving, hinting at sinister events to come.

The teaser was a nice introduction to the cast of characters and built the action up well. There are several potential suspects and it is obvious that the plot will only get more suspenseful as everything builds up.
