The most delightful Christmas romance of 2020.
Shell Smith is the most popular make-up artist on the ART counter at Duke & Sons, a beautiful but old-fashioned department store in her hometown. But whilst Shell's love life is looking up, now that she's dating long-time crush Nick, and business is booming in the beauty department, the rest of the store is noticeably quiet . . .
The owner's grandson Callum has come up with some creative ways to keep Duke & Sons afloat this Christmas, including allowing a production company to secretly film a romcom after hours. When Callum recruits her to help out, Shell finds there is more to Mr Duke Jr. than sharp suits and a business-like demeanour.
With a store to save and her own romance with Nick going off-script, Christmas just got complicated for Shell. But this is the most wonderful time of the year, so there must be a happy ending awaiting . . . Right?

I loved this book, it's a proper festive treat. It has everything you'd want from a Christmassy read - great characters, a lovely plot and the most perfect of settings. Duke & Sons department store is a character in its own right, I really felt like I was standing in its halls along with the characters. This is a warm, cosy, joyful treat of a read, I'm going to be giving it a second read in December for sure!
I absolutely loved the blurb for this story and I really wasn’t disappointed, it’s everything I was hoping for and more. It was full of festive atmosphere, great characters and relationships, the right amount of drama, indecision/hard choices for the MC and of course romance. It’s just a wonderful Christmas read that will leave you feeling happier than when you started, reaching out for the cocoa and wanting to put on a Christmas movie. Perfection
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Loved the characters and loved the setting, I want more to come as I didn't want this to end. I hope we get a follow up to this.
I kept thinking about Oxford Street in London at Christmas, it reminded me of my childhood to growing up and the wonder of London.
Very well written with plenty of detail, what a delightful book to read. This is well worth the 5 stars that I am giving.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

yesterday and it's just the most delicious book. Warm, funny, sexy, gorgeous setting and characters. I loved it so much. (Also it should totally be a film.)
Someday at Christmas is a wonderful story based around a department store and the relationships of those who work there.
It centres around Shell who began as a Saturday girl and years later runs a make up stand in the store. We see her friendships and relationships develop throughout the book. While it may be predictable at points, it doesn’t distract from the warm cosy Christmassy feel you get from reading it.
I'll struggle to get into another book after this. I absolutely LOVED it. It combined three my favourite things, chick lit, Christmas and make up. Shell is an amazing character. I just loved her. The chemistry with her and Callum throughout the book is fantastic. I could see the scenes play out in my mind whist I read it. It would be an amazing film (that I'd pick apart and complain that it's not as good as the book).
This is the ultimate festive, feel good book that I would have no hesitation to recommend to anyone.
Someday at Christmas - Lizzie Byron
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review thanks to Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley.
Shell Smith works as a make up artist at Duke & Sons, when Callum Duke is brought in to help revive the store Shell and her friends see this as their opportunity to help save the store.
The novel is packed with vivid details meaning you can actually picture the department store decorated for Christmas.
A real feel good Christmas story, which I can see being made into a film at some point.
Rating: 5/5
I read this book in two sittings as I was unable to put the book down. I would definitely recommend this as a book to curl up with this Christmas.
Oh I’m so ready for woolly jumpers, sparkly lights and the Christmas tree. This has been a gorgeous read and I absolutely loved it. I haven’t been able to put this one down.
Just wonderful! This is a festive romance that was exactly what my cynical and tired brain needed right now. A perfect slice of escapism, about 27-year-old Shell, her returning situation-ship Nick and her new boss Callum - along with a truly charming array of supporting characters. Shell, her friends, family and love interests all felt like really people who I came to care for quickly and deeply. Effortlessly diverse and inclusive, along with a no-snootiness approach to Hallmark Christmas movies, this was an absolutely delightful read.
I can't wait till this comes out as I'll be insisting multiple friends and family members buy it!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
Duke & Sons department store, where Shell Smith has been working as a make-up artist on the ART counter for a while now.
Nick, her long-term crush is back in town, as well as that she’s really busy on the beauty department in the store. Compared to the rest of the store, which is a bit quiet.
Callum, whose the owners Grandson comes with some different ways to keep people coming into Duke & Sons this Christmas, One of these is to allow a production company to film a romcom after hours.
He wants to keep this a secret from his Grandfather so he recruits Shell’s help. During this Shell realises there more to Callum than just his suits and business demeanour..
Changes are coming in Shell’s life during this most wonderful time of the year.
There’s a lot to enjoy about this book: Christmas decorations at an old department store. A white Christmas! Dapper stranger who’s possibly ruining it all but isn’t, actually! A crush come from the past to reignite old passions. Friends to lovers!!! (One of my faves, it has to be said.) A big band of friends, who all are as warm-hearted and diverse as I’d hoped. The Smith family!!
What a great Christmas romp, I enjoyed every minute of it <3
