A very important, inclusive, book with beautiful, bright illustrations. 'An ABC of Families' explains, with the help of the alphabet how there are many different types of families (A is for Adoption) but that all of these different types of families are just as valid as any other. This book should be in every library and book shop.

Thank you to Quatro Publishing Group and #NetGalley for an advanced copy.

This is a wonderful edition to the ABC of collection. This is perfect to start discussions about the different types of families in a age appropriate and down to earth way. Beautiful illustrations and a very diverse cast of characters.

What a beautifully illustrated book. The explanations were simple but precise. I would love a physical copy of this for us ( 2&4 year old ) to view over and over

I absolutely loved this book.
It's very simple but very informative and it's very bright and colourful too which will keep any child's attention.
It's very inclusive - and even the pictures have parents/children in wheelchairs etc. They also explain that parents don't have to be just mum and dad, and that sometimes in will be dad and dad.
Also that it you don't want to hug and kiss, that's fine.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for my DRC of this book in exchange for my impartial review. This review was written voluntarily and all opinions are my own.

This is an important resource for kids and early readers, and I love how it encompasses all types of families and relations. I appreciate the level of inclusion in this book, as it shatters the M/F parent structure, and showcases same sex marriage and same sex parented families and also single parent families. Adoption is also highlighted in this book and I love that.

The illustrations were so beautiful and showcased so much diversity and inclusivity.

One thing I had a problem with, even with all the inclusion in this book, was the entry "S" for "Siblings", defined as "Brothers and sisters". I feel like it erases non binary siblings, who are just siblings, and not brothers or sisters.

I love that this book shows that every type of family is valid. The entries cover types of families, different family members, and also words relating to families and feelings evoked by family.

I highly recommend this.

Children love alphabet stories, and to write, perform and sing these too. This book is an amazing way to present a range of topics related to families. Additionally, it answers a few questions that the children might have as well as might open up discussions and questions. It is excellent to be used in the classroom and also at home. A good book too to read for pleasure. Recommended.

A wonderfully inclusive picture book taking the reader on a journey through the alphabet and exploring a range of terms linked to family. With pictures of families from all backgrounds and walks of life, there is a picture and definition to reflect every type of family. The pictures are simple and bright and the vocabulary chosen is easily accessible to all children. This book could be used in schools to talk about what the word family means and how it might mean different things to different people.
