The first book by Matt Morsia, the UK's Number 1 Fitness Vlogger

'Powerfully dispels myths with science and humour - every gym bag deserves a copy'
ROSS EDGELY, #1 bestselling author of The Art of Resilience and The World's Fittest Book

He's tried every workout and fad diet, so you don't have to ...

'As a former PE teacher, athlete, personal trainer and now one of the biggest fitness YouTubers in the World (a.k.a an absolute weirdo who films themselves doing stuff), the most common question I get from followers and even people in the street is, 'How do I get a body like yours?'

People will almost whisper it, as if I'm going to usher them into a dark alleyway and reply with some kind of mystical secret. Like they're expecting to be told that they need to drink 263ml of maple syrup three times a day whilst reading the complete works of Shakespeare to their dog. Other times they seem to want me to reveal a protocol of supplements, with an inference that I must be taking steroids or other drugs, because having a good body without chemicals is now seen by some as almost impossible. It's not.

This book is my attempt to shatter all of those myths and give it to you entirely straight. It is about understanding how to live your life in a more healthy, sustainable and happy way-and how to maintain that forever. And I'm not talking about becoming a monk and only eating lettuce. If you want to eat McDonald's, go for it. Eating crappy food doesn't make you fat and by the time you're done with the book you'll understand why. I want to arm you with your own set of tools so that you can tailor my methods and experiences to you and your own unique situation.

Whatever your goals or your level of fitness, this book offers you a plan to make you look and feel great 24/7.'

My thanks to Netgalley for my audio copy of The 24/7 Body read by the author Matt Morsia.

As a 67 year woman, who is always looking to lose weight, increase her fitness, gain muscle and lose fat, looking at the cover for the book sporting the author looking young and hench, I wasn't sure this was the book for me. However, I found the narrator very easy to listen to and enjoyed his manner of speaking, Personally I always call a bellend a bellend!!! (If you can't stomach strong language then this isn't for you) I liked his voice and his accent but my son couldn't stand being in the same room if I was listening without headphones, so as usual, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

I found this book an absolute mine of small tips I'd never considered before with regards to lifting incremental weights, dealing with injury and supplements in particular. I was even able to pass on information to my younger, much fitter husband. There was a lot of useful information regarding losing fat too but I was already familiar with the majority of it because this has been my goal for at least 50 years. (It's putting it into practice that I struggle with lol!)

Despite the cover illustration this book is actually aimed at women as well as men at all ranges of fitness and I totally recommend it as it's entertaining and informative.

I'd never heard of Matt previously, but since I need to shift a few lockdown/christmas pounds in the coming months, I thought this could be a good listen. Matt comes across very well on audio, with a light conversational tone that feels like you're listening to a mate. I did hear a few mistakes that needed to be edited out, but they weren't without their charm.

Content wise, this is pleasingly BS free. He explains in simple terms how fat loss occurs and offers some insight into muscle gain and issues surrounding supplements and crash diets. The only criticism I have is when he used vegan diets as an example of a difficult diet to get enough protein on. I've been vegan for a few years and never struggled to get enough protein. His point stands when it comes to the plant-based fad diets (of which there are many) but referring to a 'vegan diet' doesn't really mean much. Some of us eat higher protein, others don't. It's a lifestyle, not a diet.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and I'm sure I'll check out his Youtube channel.

Having listened to the audio extract of this book I'm intrigued to hear more. The book is narrated by the author and he clearly has passion for this topic and from the introduction this sounds like a book that will appeal to a the masses who have grown sick of fad diets. He narrates well and is a pleasure to listen to.

This is a topic I have a real interest in, and a decent amount of knowledge on, and I wholeheartedly agree with the author in that fad diets are not long term solutions. That he promises we don't have to give up favourite foods is also a big selling point!!

Unfortunately I have been unable to access the audiobook - there seems to be a glitch somewhere that prevents it downloading, and despite reaching out to see if this can be fixed that it hasn't been resolves prevents me from accessing the whole book, as such I have rated purely on the extract I have been able to access.

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity ti review this audiobook in exchange for an advance copy.
