At first this appears to be about a honeymoon gone wrong for Laura and Liam, but it becomes so much more. The island off of the coast of Scotland, Shura, is rumored to be not only beautiful, but haunted, due to a tragedy that struck the family who had lived there for hundreds of years. Laura and Liam shrug this off, not believing the ghostly tales of the locals. They're looking forward to their long awaited holiday, postponed after the death of Laura's mother.

Shortly after they arrive, they suspect that they are not alone on the island as they were promised. They feel they are being watched, then they find footprints outside their cottage, and words carved into their window. Who could be there and why? How would they even survive, with nothing but a burnt out old castle and chapel the only other buildings on the tiny island? Liam is determined to stalk the stalker while Laura remains terrified and does her best to convince him they should stay away and hide until the boatman returns to the island to come get them. Will they survive the week or will the island claim two more victims?

There's a great twist late into the story, and had it been earlier, I would have been more engaged, as by that point it had grown a bit repetitive. A lot of dialogue between the two: :What do we do now?" "Why are they doing this?" etc. Readers may begin to tune out or become disinterested before it really gets good - Part Two doesn't kick in until 69% of the book has been read. I can't give anything away, but you'll see that there's much more to these two newlyweds than you were expecting. Hang in there and you won't be disappointed!

It should have been heaven; a honeymoon on a remote island off Scotland, but happy couple Liam and Laura are about to discover that their romantic getaway is a date with death. It turns out the island isn’t as deserted as they thought and after they find a message scratched into their window one morning they become aware they are in danger. Their presence is not welcome and their new neighbor will not rest until they are dead

If you’re are going to have books on here then don’t have PDF ones. They’re very unreadable. PDF files are bad to read as I don’t know how many chapters the books have.

I am sure it’s a lovely book. I will have to wait until it’s out to buy.

I will check out more books from the author. I love how the plot is set in Scotland.

Thank you netgalley for approving me of the book

The Stalker has to be a top favorite of mine now! Also because of the writing style in this book I'm looking into more of Sarah's books because this was a hit with me!
There isn't anything I didn't like! The pacing was perfect! The writing was amazing! The characters I was quivering along with them!
Thanks NetGalley Publisher and Sarah for thus awesome ebook copy!

What a creepy thriller about a couple to go on vacation! This claustrophobic scary book kept me transfixed the entire time I read it. I highly recommend it.

A very clever book, which had me completely stunned by the twist. Well-written, with good characters, and a great sense of the isolated (and frankly unsettling) setting. I would thoroughly recommend this (as long as you aren't intending to holiday on a Scottish island this summer!)

I found "The Stalker" to be a bit of a slow burner. Sarah Alderson certainly created a very spooky location for the honeymoon cottage, both claustrophobic and open, and at the moments when Laura is alone in the cottage my spine was certainly chilled. I totally did not expect the very clever twist towards the end of the story but it cleverly drew all the story's threads together in a very satisfactory way.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Sarah Alderson is a one click author for me, and this book made sure she’ll continue to be so! Excellently written, in a manner that is completely captivating! Fast paced, unique, and unputdownable!! Full of tension, twisty turns, chilling chills, thrilling thrills, and gasp worthy shocks! I highly, highly recommend this must read thriller to my fellow thrill seekers, it’s sure to give you exactly what you’re craving!

Will buzz around and use my low Amazon reviewer number on release date!

Laura and Liam are on honeymoon on a remote Scottish island. Unreachable for a week. Absolute bliss or is it? Laura is struggling with the loss of mother and the loss of her job. Someone is watching them… the tension in this book is intense and a catalogue of disasters leaves them cold, hungry and with no means to call for help. Who is their stalker and why don’t they strike, they want to! Impossible to say any more without spoilers but I couldn’t put it down!

So basically Sarah Alderson is becoming one of my favorite authors. What a great book! Truly unputdownable!

Liam and Laura are finally taking their honeymoon to a Scottish island called Shura. The island is completely remote and you can only get to it by boat. No cell service and no way off the island being that they were dropped off. IMAGINE THAT. Weird things are starting to happen and they begin to think someone is stalking them. But who and why?

So much YES. I really had a hard time putting the book down. I didn’t realize how much of a book slump I was in, the books that I were reading were enjoyable. But then I read this! THIS is how a reading experience is supposed to be! Thrilling, chilling, atmospheric, claustrophobic, and twisty. This book really checked all of my boxes. I saw Sarah has written many more books, I will be seeking them out immediately. Run, don’t walk to this one folks!!

10/10 recommend!

The Stalker by Sarah Alderson

A newly wed couple go on honeymoon to a remote Scottish island where they will be the only inhabitants. Or will they ?
What I liked about the book was the way it seemed to be going one way and then it twisted into something unexpected. I love it when an author can do this.
It's a spooky read and a great thriller as well.
My only criticism would be that I never really took to Laura and Liam but that's probably more about me than them.
I will be looking out for other titles by Sarah as she writes in such a way that leaves me wanting more.

What started out as a fast-paced, thrilling read turned in to much more than I could have anticipated. Two honeymooners visit an island in Scotland thinking they're alone, but they most ertainly are not. This page-turner is nearly impossible to put down. At first I thought it seemed like a really straightforward, nice thriller, but the author threw some creative curveballs in the mix.

If you're looking for a good, solid thriller, this book is for you.

A couple is on a remote Scottish island on their honeymoon. There is no one else out there... or that's what they thought. Turns out they are not alone. Someone is clearly after them, trying to make their lives impossible to live, But, is it really this easy?

Just when the reader thinks she knows what's going on, she realizes, no, she doesn't know what's going on. At times I thought the plot seemed a bit too easy, everything went a little too smoothly, but then I realized it was just cleverly written, and I was fooled.

The basic storyline is pretty common with an obsessed man "protecting" his wife. It all seems nice and idyllic on the outside, but it's hell on the inside. Typical controlling in a relationship. But, as the story unfolds there are many more layers to it, and the last two parts of the book really makes it worth the read, since it is after all a bit different from what I expected. Refreshing!

I did not see that coming!! Wow! Wow! Wow!! Blockbuster of the summer right here! It read like a horror movie with such intensity I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting! Get this book now and hang on tight!

I must admit I found this a little slow in the beginning but it does pick up the pace the further you get into it. I was intrigued by the premise and found the plot of the book to be as good as I thought. I loved the setting which I though really set the atmosphere for the book, the characters were likeable and I found I could relate to them and the situation they found themselves in. I know some people were not keen on the ending but it worked for me. Overall a very enjoyable read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great read. I enjoyed every minute of it. A couple escape to a Scottish Island to have their honeymoon. They will be all alone on this island till the boat comes back for them. There is plenty to explore. There's a deserted castle, the beach, so much to do.
Then who keeps coming into their cabin?
Great twists and turns. Super ending.

Thank you to the publisher for my copy of this one, all opinions are my own.

I LOVE Sarah Alderson! She writes the most insanely atmospheric, and intense psychological thrillers, and every new book from her just gets better.

I was completely sucked into this particular plot, with newlyweds Liam and Laura on their honeymoon getaway. Set on what they believe to be, an entirely deserted island, it isn't long before they find themselves being stalked and terrorized by another person.

Sarah completely brought her A game to this story - I could not set this book down once I started, The island setting is so well done, lending a claustrophobic feeling as Liam and Laura realize that they are in huge trouble with no way to reach help, and days left before they are to be picked up by the mainland boat. The slowly increasing tension as the stalker taunts them and they frantically try to figure out how to respond. The EXPLOSIVE ending that I couldn't have guessed and just blew me away - all of it packs together for the kind of totally absorbing summer reading that is PERFECT.

This is one I cannot recommend enough - it will leave you with chills, looking over your shoulder and completely satisfied as a reader.

A scary thriller about a couple called Laura and Liam who go to a remote Scottish island for a honeymoon and what should have been a lovely holiday just the two of them turns into a nightmare. This kept me transfixed as you did not know what would happen next.
A great book with a surprising ending you don't see coming.
Would highly recommend this book.

I don’t know if the author is going to read this review but I LOVED your book. I have only said this a handful of times but my mouth fell open because of the plot twist. Like what? That was amazing. In the beginning I was a bit worried I wasn’t going to enjoy this book, but boy was I wrong. A few pages in I was spooked. Especially when I got to the Stalker POV I felt a chill go down my spine. I am going to reread this in October and really take my time with it because, wow, I would’ve never imagined that I would be shocked by that ending. And you know what I’m glad it ended that way because it somehow made me feel in peace.

I do love the endings where the police become involved and make arrests but sometimes I want more of these ending too. I am going to continue reading this authors work. I very much enjoyed the writing style the different point of views and the details the author added in. So glad I was able to read it.

This type of thriller is not my go-to genre, but after reading this intense, twisted tale, I can see why people can't get enough. The tension mounts with each page as you slowly try to outwit the author and guess what's going on. Without giving away any spoilers, don't even try...as you will be thoroughly surprised and impressed with a masterful ending. In edition to checking all the boxes for this type of book, I absolutely loved the setting which looms on every single page. Bottom line...if you like thrillers, you will not be disappointed and if you are new to the genre, you just might be doing an internet deep dive to find all the thrillers you've been missing out on all these years.

The Stalker was a very interesting book. What was supposed to be a very romantic and belated honeymoon for a couple on an island in Scotland turned out to be a very frightening experience when they discovered they were not alone. The end is a total surprise.

This is a brilliant tense book with an ending that my head spin. The atmosphere just keeps building up to a blinding climax that I did not see coming at all.
Newlyweds Laura and Liam have came to a secluded Scottish Island for the honeymoon. Things quickly get very sinister when they realise that they're not alone and someone is stalking them.
This is such a clever book that I absolutely raced through. The atmosphere is almost painful for the reader as things start to escalate. A dark, tense and thrilling read.

The creepiest book of the year. A must read for all seeking a thriller. You will not be able to figure this one out.r

The Stalker is full of a spooky atmosphere and setting that ends well to the tension.
Liam and Laura have a close relationship threatened by the presence of a stalker. All is not as it seems. As the ending u folded I was certainly surprised.
I liked the plot choice (I can't comment on it as it will be a spoiler) although it felt somewhat rushed with chapters that were set in the past. Explanations came fast and were a little dizzying but plausible.
Overall, an enjoyable read.

4.5 Stars from me

This book is pure distraction and entertainment! Albeit a bit gruesome at times but

It was obvious (from the cover!) that this perfect honeymoon ♡ might not pan out to be quite so idilic!

Even so I was caught out by a fair few surprises along the way and found myself utterly immersed with the pure entertainment provide by this fast paced and well plotted read.

Don't over think it, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride!

Liam and Laura are newlyweds who decide to honeymoon on a secluded island. It's been a tough year for Laura so the alone time will be good for her. But they soon discover the deserted island isn't so deserted, they're being watched. Being on a secluded island could never backfire, could it?
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Holy twist at the end! I did not see this ending coming y'all! It's a gripping read that keeps your attention from beginning to end. I would recommend this read!

Thank you Sarah Alderson, Avon Books UK and Netgalley for this great ARC!

The Stalker is a creepy, fast-paced read about a newlywed couple who spend their honeymoon on a remote island only to discover things aren't quite what they seem. The couple is being watched and this person wants them dead. I was hooked from start to finish. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a claustrophobic thriller.

This book is brilliant! Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on an uninhabited small island in Scotland. However, it soon becomes clear that there is someone else on the island who wants to do them harm. So begins a scary game of cat and mouse! I can't say anymore about the plot, but you'll never guess the way it pans out! This is a really well written story which kept me on the edge of my seat to the end! Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.
Copied to Goodreads.

I received this book for free from Netgalley for an honest review.

This book was right up my alley based off the summary. I enjoyed it right from the start. The way it was written was FANTASTIC. It has a plot twist towards the end that I was definitely not expecting. I can normally guess who the antagonist is or what the twist will be; I did not see this one coming.

Both characters are likeable from the beginning. If you really pay attention to the way the characters behave, based off what their careers are, you can start to unravel the mystery that lead to the surprise ending.

This is one of the better Thrillers I have read recently, reminded me a bit of Shiver by Allie Reynolds. There was some wording used that took me a second to understand, but that's because it's written and published in the UK. For example, instead of "lighter" they said "torches".

I really enjoyed this novel, so not only will I be recommending it to others, I'll also be looking for more by the author, Sarah Alderson!

Wow this book gave me full body goosebumps. I have to admit I initially found it quite slow and the characters unlikable however all of that changed once I got about three quarters of the way in and I could. not. put. it. down! Really well written, well done Sarah Alderson!

WOW! this truly was a little gem of a book. I finished it from cover to cover in just two days! I could not put it down, I live in Scotland myself and really enjoyed the descriptions of the Scottish Scenery. I also loved the creepy and atmospheric vibes in this story, It was very thrilling and I had Goosebumps most of the way through reading this book.

Laura and Liam are newly weds, They decide to visit a remote isolated Scottish island for a few days of quiet, peace and blissfulness, However this unfortunately does not happen as they soon realise that they are not the only ones on the Scottish island, And they soon realise that whoever else is on the island has sinister intentions, The question is who are they and why?

These questions kept me up into the wee small hours, I had to keep checking that my doors and windows are locked and any small noises made me jump out of my skin! The twist at the end left me feeling gobsmacked and completely blindsided me as I did not expect that twist, A big thank you to netgalley for a copy of this fantastic book in exchange for my honest review, I cant wait to read more from this author.

OMG What have I just read? Newlyweds Liam and Laura take a honeymoon on a remote Scottish island. Not long after their arrival, creepy happenings suggest that they are not alone. I must admit that the second part of the book took me totally by surprise. Be warned, this book is very scary and gory in parts, but absolutely absorbing. Very clever indeed.

I absolutely loved this book.

“The island is invisible. Dark clouds hang like water-logged blankets over the loch:”

The imagery had me hooked from the beginning. The cover was inviting although, I thought it would be a horror and not a thriller. I enjoyed the different point of views from all the different characters. Now the multiple plot twists were amazing they built off each other and developed quite nicely I never knew in which direction the story was headed. I will admit the plot twist was a bit confusing when it started happening because it was so different from earlier moments from the book, but all in all still enjoyable.

I read this book in 2 days which is extremely quick for me, I found it very gripping and it seemed to flow well. I enjoyed the twist at the end, however I had managed to figure out some parts fairly early on in the book.

The book started with a bit of a horror vibe but settled into a thriller with a twist. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys an easy to read thriller that will make you want to keep reading on.

There are no words other than..WOW,WOW, WOW!!!

The Stalker
By: Sarah Alderson
Publication Date: 8th July 2021

Liam and Laura have decided to spend their rescheduled honeymoon on a remote island off Scotland, where they will be the only guests on an island with a tragic and eerie history. With no phone reception and the boat not returning to collect them until the end of the week, they soon discover they are not the only ones on the island. The honeymoon soon turns into a nightmare!

The Stalker is certainly a book that gets the heart rate going! The first 70% of the book is like a psychological horror, but then the book takes a thrilling turn that resulted in a very late night of reading because I couldn't put it down!! The atmosphere was chilling as I could feel myself tense when the couple were exploring the island. The remote setting was so well described, I felt as if I was with them as they explored the old castle.

This is the first book I've read by Sarah Alderson and it won't be the last! This is a very clever book that I throughly enjoyed. This is easily a 4 star read that I would recommend to anyone.

Thanks to Avon Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, this book had such an unexpected twist I did not see coming whatsoever! Character development was simply amazing and I was left guessing who the stalker was until the last few chapters. Have already highly recommended this book to my coworkers to request this title!!

The Stalker is a psychological thriller. Laura and Liam are having a belated honeymoon on an isolated island in Scotland. They soon come to realize they are not alone. This book had lots of twists and turns and the ending I did not see coming. Thanks to Netgalley for this arc.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Stalker. Everything about it made for a page-turner. The writing flowed beautifully. The characters were believable, although I did want to shake some sense into one of them. The ending was a total surprise, both credible and gratifying.

The author expertly wove the story so that while I didn’t see what was coming next, after the fact, it all did come together to make sense. (Sorry, I know that was vague, but I didn’t want to include any Spoilers.)

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review The Stalker. It was terrific.

This is one of the best psychological thrillers I have read for a while.
Liam and Laura head off to a remote Scottish Island for a belated honeymoon. Waiting for the boatman to take them across, they stop off for a drink in the mainland pub where locals tell them to be careful as the Island is haunted. Liam disbelieves what he hears but strange things start happening and they both get the feeling they are being watched. Who else is on the island and why do they want Liam and Laura to leave.
This book was really good with twists and turns from the middle of the book, with an ending I did not see coming. Kudos to Sarah for a great read
Many thanks to Netgalley and Avon publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own

Firstly, I would like to thank Net Galley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

The story of Laura and Liam, a pair of newly weds who go to a remote Scottish island for their delayed honeymoon. It is a clever book, very well written, and portrays the atmosphere of the setting very well. It is chilling.

I certainly did not expect the sudden, and unexpected twist at the end!

Liam and Laura are newly married and are finally getting to take their honeymoon trip after having to cancel their first trip after a tragic accident. They are off to a private island in Scotland where they will be able to explore and relax with no one to bother them. They think they are alone but after some strange occurrences they realize they are being stalked by someone who not only wants them dead but wants to torture them. Will they be able to escape this island and who is this stalker?

The Stalker was a great read and incorporated my favorite themes of locked room mysteries and stalking. This book kept me guessing until the end and took a dark but satisfying turn at the end.

When Liam & Laura set foot on this small island up north in Scotland, they're expecting the perfect honeymoon. A week off, just the two of them, relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

But quickly, Laura can't shake the feeling that they're being watched. When one day, they discover a strange message scratched into the window of their cottage, they have to face the reality that they might not be alone after all...

I read this thriller is just one day and absolutely loved it. While it took me a while to like the main character, once the story picked up, I simply couldn't put the book down. Who is this stalker, and why does he want them dead?

I loved the heavy atmosphere of the book, how the weather always had a big role in the story and how this supposedly dreamy island quickly turned into a scary and uninviting place.

I would recommend this book to fans of Ruth Ware & Paula Hawkins.

Thank you to Avon Books and Netgalley for letting me read early. This book publishes July 8 so get yourself ready for this one!

Laura and Liam are headed to a deserted island in Scotland for their honeymoon. What they thought would be a private and romantic holiday quickly takes a turn to disaster and terror. This book made me feel like I was watching a movie where 75% of it made me want to throw my popcorn at the screen and tell the main character she's stupid. Then Sarah Alderson unleashed the twists and they came at me one after another leaving me whiplashed and bruised.

The Stalker is captivating and you'll want to keep reading until you finish it in one sitting. It's creepy and gross and full of trigger warnings. I hated parts of it and was rolling my eyes a lot but I have to give credit where it's due and after THE BIG TWIST I can safely tell you that this is a good book. It's just so very cinematic and I think it will be very successful. I can't wait to read more by Sarah Alderson!

This book is such a twisty story of revenge that I loved every second of! The setting was unique in that it was a remote Scottish island and there was some creepy elements to it with the story surrounding the island's previous inhabitants that meshed so well with the plot of the book. With multiple POV perspectives, including the stalker's, you don't know the who or why until it all comes together and you're left feeling satisfied that revenge was served. Great read, thank you!!

Wooooow this went a whole other way I’d thought it would take !!

When I was looking through Netgalley in search for a good thriller, I quickly found the Stalker, I asked if I could read it and when I got the email, that my demand was accepted I was so excited !! It seemed amazing.

And amazing it was, I’m writing this, 5 minutes after I finished the book and I’m still in a “wtf just happened “ mood... it did take some time to get into it, but the last half of the book got me hooked ! Wow.

Imagine you’re on your honeymoon, with the man you love the most, on an island with no other people on it. But you’re feeling watched, strange things happen and you and your hubby know that you’re not alone on the island. But who is there and why did that person scratched the word “Devil” on the window of the cottage ?....

I loved the writing style, it was super fluid and I imagined myself being on the island, feeling the cold wind through my hair. I loved it. I loved the ambiance, the setting and the ending. Again, just wow.

Fast-paced, tense, and engaging, this is the kind of thriller that you’ll finish in a day. This book is a real nail-biter with a creepy and sinister atmosphere that you can really sink your teeth into and a twist that you won’t see coming.

The Stalker by Sarah Alderson - Book Review
It was supposed to be the perfect honeymoon, Liam and Laura visit a remote island off the coast of Scotland. A lovely, isolated cottage surrounded by nothing except the beauty of nature… and the eyes of a stalker.
They soon realise that they are not the only ones on the island and their romantic getaway quickly turns into a nightmare. They soon realise the stalkers wants so much more than to just watch them from a distance and has made sure they cannot escape from the island.
When I got this book, I felt the title was incredibly unoriginal or simply lacked creativity – this sort of thing usually puts me off, but as it happens, I really like reading books with stalkers! And I know they say, “You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover,” but I almost always do! And I loved the cover.
The story starts slow and I didn’t mind that because it was written very well, and the characters grew on me almost instantly. I liked Laura – her vulnerability and insecurities made her relatable. I felt that the setting was perfect for this sort of book and the author was brilliant in creating the atmosphere without getting lost in the descriptive details.
I literally felt chills while reading this. It was incredibly suspenseful and reminded me of so many great thriller stories except this was a grade above most especially with the plot twists. This is definitely the type of book that defines “edge of the seat” thrillers. I found it hard to put down. I needed to know it would end and I was not disappointed.
There are many triggers in the story, and I think there will be some people who might find elements hard to digest. Overall, I really enjoyed reading The Stalker – well done, Sarah Alderson, for keeping me up for hours at night!

I really enjoyed this! Fast moving straight from the beginning, easy to follow and so gripping; one chapter soon became four!
I had the horrible feeling of something hanging over my shoulder, and at the end of part one I realised why!
I’m not usually a fan of books where suddenly we’re introduced to a whole new storyline but this absolutely made it.
I finished this within a day, an excellent thriller perfect for a lazy summer day!

Thanks to AVON, NetGalley and to Sophie Alderson!

Sarah Alderson never disappoints and I was excited to be given an ARC courtesy of NetGalley. "The Stalker" follows a couple on their delayed honeymoon and as the characters develop you begin to realize that somethings are not as they seem. Of course, you have to read to the end of the book to see the reality but the reading adventure to get there is beyond exciting!

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for this ARC. I have never read any books by Sarah Alderson, and was unfamiliar with her work. However, after reading The Stalker I believe I need to get more acquainted! Who doesn't love a good psychological thriller with the idea of ghosts thrown in on a deserted island! I was hooked from the very beginning, did find it a little slow at times but the twist ending made up for all that. Add the additional detailed writing of the description of this island off the coast of Scotland, and you won't be disappointed. Don't waste time, try to get this book, it's great!

That's how you want your scary books to make you feel. I am so thankful to have received this ARC, I will be reading EVERYTHING Sarah Alderson writes.

I read and loved Sarah’s last book, The Weekend Away, so jumped at the chance to read an advance copy of her new book which is due out 8/7/21.

All I can say is put an afternoon aside as you will want to read this in one day.

Newlyweds Liam and Laura head to a deserted Scottish island for their honeymoon. The island has only one property which has recently been bought to rent out and they are the first to stay there. The island also has a terrible history which they are unaware of until they arrive.

With no phone, mobile signal or Wi-fi this should be a romantic getaway with no distractions.

Or so they think. When they start to feel they are being watched and are not alone on the island as promised, Liam is initially annoyed, but annoyance soon turns to fear when a threatening message is scratched into their window and they realise there is a stalker out there.

Oh my gosh what a pulse racer of a thriller! The tension builds and builds throughout and what an ending! I could feel the fear bursting off the pages.

Highly recommended.

Sarah has been added to my list of must read authors!

Thank you to Ellie at Avon books for an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.

Thank you Net Galley for an ARC of The Stalker by Sarah Alderson. This was a thriller with a surprising twist! Loved this so much! Author knows how to set the atmosphere. Major creepy vibes in this one. I will read this author again. Thank you.

The Stalker starts with what sounds likes an ideal vacation, island, ruins, no other people, beaches, cliffs, sign me up, dream vacation. And then, not so much...This book was super fast-paced, but then I got to the second half. Mind blown. It took such a crazy, unexpected turn, I ended up finishing it in one sitting,

I got this book from Netgalley. It was under True Crime my favorite genre (nonfiction). Only to be disappointed that it wasn’t.

What’s meant to be a romantic honeymoon. Soon turns into strange things happening. And the feeling someone is watching you. This book definitely had a twist or two towards the end of the book.

It's been ages since I read a crackling thriller and this ticked most of the boxes. The story is well paced and twisted, I am partial to Scottish settings so that's another win and the cover is extremely pretty me thinks!
What began as a holiday, or a honeymoon tobhe specific turns into a nightmare for the newly wed couple, Laura and Liam! Supposedly disconnected from the world, all alone on the remote Isle of Shurra, they want to spend a week exploring the wilderness and spending time with each other when things start rolling downhill as they feel a presence on the otherwise uninhabited island. Should they have listened to the locals that there are spirits or is it someone with something sinister in mind? Those are the questions the book will answer as you keep turning the pages ahead.
A pretty decent thriller with a good story!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for lending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review
P.S - at about 75% there's a typing error which gave away the rest of the story to me.
Hope it helps in making a correction.

This one had me hooked from the beginning and I devoured it in less than 24 hours! It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. If you're looking for a thriller with an unexpected twist, this is it. I had to go back and re-read some of the earlier passages from the point of view of the Stalker once I was finished in order for it all to make sense, but once I did the author's intent became clear to me. Hard to say more without giving away spoilers. The atmosphere created by the isolated island off Scotland also drew me in greatly - I'm a sucker for a beautiful (even harrowing so) locale. I definitely felt tense while reading this, but hey that's part of the enticement. I see this being made into a horror movie in the near future and I'm all down to watch it!

♡ I wasn't hyped by this book in the beginning when I read. But as I went through the story, it got me fired up.

♡ The book is slow paced and I really want to appreciate the author for writing a detailed script. I mean how can someone write all the minute happenings. How can someone even find the words for it. I really got amazed by that. It's as if the book and the story was revolving around me.

♡ And here comes the main part, the TWISTS. I wasn't even expecting for it, to be honest. Not just one twist but many. And the truth revelations was perfectly fitted at the right time.

♡ The story has been set upon a sensitive topic, a sensitive issue that's prevailing even now. A issue that everyone needs to be aware of, that everyone needs to voice it out. And that has been brought out by the author really well.

♡ The Un - guessable twists and turns, the shocking revelations and especially the suspense of the book makes me rate it out 5 on 5

♡ The story was justified well. I had some small doubts to be clarified, yet that doesn't bring the ratings down. So yeah,

♡ I would suggest this book to everyone, every girl out there to know and learn from this book, how to go after what you want and how to voice it out by being strong before you get drowned by it.

Wow this book was good!! I read it in two sittings - I was following the story line wondering what was going to happen next then POW!!!!! Everything I thought was happening was turned on his head - the story was even darker than I first thought! So well written and keeping you on the edge of your seat! It’s all about perspective, and whether you see what you want to see. Or question - and the strength we have inside ourselves that in extreme situations can help us endure the unendurable.

4 solid stars!

Liam and Laura are newlyweds finally taking their postponed honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. They have the whole island to themselves for seven days and it seems like the perfect romantic getaway. But Laura can't shake the feeling that she's being watched. She brushes it off thinking the tragic history of the island is just rattling her nerves but after a few strange occurrences, both Liam and Laura quickly realize they are not alone on the island and their romantic getaway turns into a struggle to survive.

This had me on the edge of my seat until the very last page! The setting was perfect and the general creep factor was just enough for me not to get bored. I enjoyed the storyline and trying to figure out who 'the stalker' is. I had one theory but once I reached the big reveal/twist, I was genuinely surprised and caught off guard. I had to stop and reread the last few pages. It was brilliant! There were some intense moments which I believe may be triggering to some readers but I'm not sure I can say what they are without hinting towards the ending of the story.

This would have been a 5 star read for me if it weren't for a couple of things. I feel like the pacing was a bit off, especially after the big twist. I understand the perspective had to shift but it just didn't match the tone of the first half of the story. Also, I will say that something was written before the reveal that I'm not sure if it was deliberate foreshadowing but I had brushed it off as a minor typo. But it did make me stop reading and backtrack for a moment. Nonetheless it was a fun and twisty ride and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Avon Books UK for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. The Stalker is set to be released on July 8, 2021.

SO scary! This book was a great thriller book. Wow! I love a good thriller but don’t read home alone. LOL

This twist at the end was great. I didn’t see that coming at all. Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy of this book. I will definitely be checking out more by this author because I love a good thriller. Very frightening at times for sure. I few times I looked over my shoulder.

What a fantastic book, i was hooked from the start. It is one of those books that you just want to keep turning the pages to find out what is happening next. As for the ending, what a cracker. Never saw it coming. Absolutely brilliant read.

Oh.. my... gosh... I cannot say enough good things about this book. It felt like a classic spooky story from the very beginning & never slowed down! There were twists, turn & so much suspense. Not to mention the big twist, I did NOT see coming!

Our newlywed couple, Laura & Liam, are off to a remote Scottish isle for their delayed honeymoon. What’s supposed to be the perfect little getaway, turns into their worst fears, as it seems they aren’t the only ones on the island.

The atmosphere was so thoroughly described, that I could easily picture the surroundings in this story. Which made it all the more creepy & suspenseful to read. I can normally sniff out a plot twist (or at least have running theories) but this one, wowser!

I definitely recommend reading this, in the daylight hours, preferably not alone, otherwise you may lose some sleep. Thank you so much to NetGalley & Avon for this eARC, I’m so excited for this to come out, I think it’ll be a smashing success!

Laura and Liam are on their honeymoon on a n idilyic remote Scottish island where it will only be the two of them for the week! However it soon becomes apparent that they aren't alone in the island when a message appears scratched into the window of the cottage and other strange things keep happening. Somebody wants them dead, but who and why? So many twists in this novel, but an enjoyable read.

Many thanks Net galley for letting me read this book. Should be made into a tv drama!

The Stalker by Sarah Alderson was an excellent read. A well thought out storyline with a twist I wasn’t expecting at all. I’m finding it difficult to give a flavour of the clever perspective within the book without giving spoilers. Suffice to say the Liam and Laura are well developed personalities and the plot is pacey and credible. Tension builds as the honeymooners realise someone is stalking them but that’s just part of the story. The book kept me interested and reading on. Four stars from me for this one

A definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For me!
This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them very believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. I’m usually good at guessing but was off the mark this time.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

The Weekend Away was one of my favourite books of 2020, so I was looking forward to this one and went into it with high expectations. I think maybe the book suffered from my expectations being so high.

I liked the setting and the story was interesting, but I started to get a bit bored with the characters running around the island. I know the author is doing TV adaptations and I think a lot of this book was written for that kind of thing, it will come across better on TV than in writing in my opinion. I did skim read a lot of the middle section as it was just the two main characters hiding and zipping around the island trying to find their assailant, and I think that part went on for a bit too long.

The reason I'm still rating the book so highly is the twist. To me that was brilliant and really saved the book from being a dud. At first I thought it came out of nowhere, but if you look back there are definite hints to it, and I thought it was really well done. I really enjoyed the backstory we were given at that point, and whilst I understand we couldn't have had it any earlier I kind of wish we did so I could connect with the characters more in the beginning, as until that point Laura felt underdeveloped.

I'm not sure if I would recommend the book as the start is a little bit dull but to me it was worth it for the payout at the end. As I've said previously, I think this would work better as a TV show or film than a novel, and maybe that's what the author is hoping for after her previous adaptation.

"Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you" - Every Breath You Take, The Police

Newly-weds Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. They are warned by a local that the island is haunted, that it has a tragic past. But this is the beginning of their future. They are starting their lives together, the only ones on the island. Sounds like bliss, until a message is etched on the window. They thought they were alone. No one is supposed to be there and yet....

I was sucked into this book right away. I loved knowing that something was going to happen based on the blurb. I was ready for some creepy, sinister happenings. A perfect honeymoon becomes the perfect nightmare. Sign me up!

I loved knowing they were going to be trapped on the island. Dropped off on the first day and only to be picked up on their last. When they began to suspect that they were not alone, I was giddy with excitement and apprehension.

I loved the setting. Scotland seems to be the desired location for books these days and this location is stellar. I loved the remote location, knowing they were the first ones to visit, being surrounded by water, the cliffs, the grounds, and the Gothic burned castle. The book had a very atmospheric feel to it. There is also an underlying feel of tension and dread throughout.

Reading and wondering what was going on and then there is a HUGE twist. I sat there thinking "wait a minute" because everything I suspected was going on was wrong. Then I had a new perspective and cannot say that I saw all of it coming but it did explain some things.

I thought the author did a great job setting the stage and unraveling the tale. The book was a 5-star read until almost the end then it or I lost a little steam. Not enough to derail the book for me or to ruin my enjoyment but it did take it down a star.. Some will say it is very clever and worked for them. Either way, this was an engaging and gripping book which I had a hard time putting down.

This clever tale was a page turner for me and even with the little hiccup, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Atmospheric, chilling, and full of dread.

Firstly, thank you so much NetGalley and Avon for letting me read this book. I am so not disappointed!!

This tells the story of a newlywed couple on their honeymoon, on a remote island in Scotland. Things start off well but they slowly realise they’re not alone.

The author has built the suspense in this novel so well. It’s such a page turner, and will leave you feeling uneasy and checking over your shoulder. And that plot twist. Oh my god the plot twist. I didn’t guess it right, it took me completely by suprise. Everything I want from a thriller and more.

This thriller begins on a high note: a secluded Scottish setting. Even the horrors that these folks face did not stop me from wanting to visit!

Laura and Liam head to Shura - the aforementioned location - for their honeymoon. Though the island is supposed to be uninhabited, they soon realize that there's an unexpected dweller in their midst: one who apparently wants to terrorize them. That terror ensues, but the real stars are the twists and turns.

It is so refreshing to read something in this genre where the women characters are depicted as equally wise - if not more so - and equally capable - if not more so - to their counterparts. I very much appreciate the responsible treatment of Laura's character and the explanations of who she is and how she gets here. The judgements never feel misplaced, and that made me appreciate this satisfying thriller even more.

Recommended (keeping in mind TW for extreme violence, rape, sexual assault, and animal cruelty).

4 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Stalker is a very tense and gripping psychological thriller. The story follows Laura and Liam as they go on their honeymoon to a secluded house on an island in Scottland. Due to unfortunate circumstances they had to reschedule this honeymoon. Laura is dealing with depression, and trying to make the best of things for her new husband. Although things are not all roses for the couple as there seems to be someone else on the island stalking them.
Sarah does a great job of making you feel the sense of isolation amd dread along with the characters. Laura really is a character you come to feel for and root for. This was a very exciting reading experience all around.

The newly married couple, Liam and Laura, decided to spend their honeymoon in a cabin, on a remote island just off the coast of Scotland.

The book portrays Laura’s nervous character from the start as her apprehension for the island is displayed through her nervousness to spend time on the ‘haunted island’. You can only get there by boat - which tells the reader that they should be alone.

When they arrive on the island they decide to go around and explore it. Instantly, Laura believes she is being watched and that they are not alone. There’s a gradual build up to lots of strange happenings. It turns out someone is watching them - who are they? Most importantly... what do they want?

I really enjoyed this book, it had me gripped and on the edge of my seat. The twist at the end - wow I did not see it coming! I highly recommend this book! Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

To all my friends who love a good thriller – this one is going to be an instant classic.

Laura and Liam are newlyweds on their honeymoon on a remote island – but what was supposed to be a romantic getaway quickly turns into a nightmare when they realize they aren’t alone on the island after all.

This is the first book that I have read by Sarah Alderson, and it will not be the last. To describe this book as intense is an understatement. At times when I was reading, my heart was pounding. I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading. This is not a book you want to be reading alone at night, that is for sure. While I didn’t particularly care for the POV switch to the Stalker, the end will truly leave you speechless. Just when you think you know what is happening, you don’t!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for my ARC for my honest review.

The Stalker by Sarah Alderson

Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Scotland, called Shura. Just the two of them. Sounds like the perfect escape!

The Island is said to have a dark history, according to locals they chat with before heading to the island.

The only way on the island is by boat. There is no cell service on the island and no way off the island as they were dropped off. They’ll be picked up in a week!!

Cut off from the world...What could go wrong? Or will it be a nice peaceful getaway?

There’s a sense that someone is watching...

Weird things are happening.

I really enjoyed reading this book! So well written! Kept me wanting to read more to see what was going to happen!! Author did a great job building up the suspense! A great fast paced book!! Such a great twist at the end! Didn’t see that coming!! Loved this book!!

A slow but good thriller.
Liam and Laura, a newlywed couple arrives on a remote island, Shura off the coast of Scotland. But after sometime they feel like they're being watched. Someone is stalking them. Is this story that simple?
Told from POV's of Laura ( most POV's ) and Mia, this story is a slow thriller. At first I was bored by it but in part two,it reveals it's secrets slowly in front of me and believe me, I wasn't expecting it to go that way.
I loved the characters of Laura, Liam and Mia. Other supporting characters were ok.
Narration of the story is simple.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for giving me an advanced copy of this psychological thriller.

Newly weds Liam and Laura travel to a remote Scottish island for their honeymoon, ready to relax and enjoy each other's company. On the way to the island they hear about some of the tragic history of the island which leaves Laura uneasy, and she feels like she is being watched as they begin their time on the island. Things get worse when the couple wake to find a message scrawled into the cottage window and realise that someone else is here on the island and is out to get them. With no way off the island and no way to contact anyone to help, the couple must fight for their lives... will they make it off the island alive or will their stalker get them?

I loved this book - it was incredibly tense and creepy and really well written. I couldn't stop reading until I got to the shocking conclusion. The twists and turns were absolutely shocking and so clever! Really recommend this thrilling and suspenseful read.

I wasn’t sure about this book for the first few chapters then OMG it took off at a fast pace, like a runaway train.
Two newly weds, Liam and Laura, are spending a last minute honeymoon on a remote Scottish Island. Laura is suffering from depression- mostly due to her mother’s recent death.
Both of them see a stranger on the island which is supposed to be deserted except for them - only accessible by boat and with no mobile phone signal.
Liam is a policeman and determined to hunt down the interloper. Laura seems timid and scared.
Such a well written and exciting book - I couldn’t put it down. The storyline was not what I expected and the last chapters brought new twists and surprises.
Original, atmospheric and thrilling. Highly recommended

Wow, what a read! This is the first book I have read by Sarah Alderson and it definitely wont be my last! This book really sets the scene perfectly and is very enjoyable to read.
Liam and Laura are going on their honeymoon to a remote Scottish island that is completely deserted, or so they think! They get warning from locals about going to the island, but they still go anyway. They have no way off the island until they are due to be picked up, the tension in the book is amazing. It makes you feel deserted, claustrophobic, anxious, it really transports you to the island with them.
It was so expertly written, I didn't want to put it down. As the story unfolded it really kept you guessing and kept you wanting to know what was happening next.
I really liked the ending of the story, it brought everything together and was a great way to end the story, I don't want to give any of it away, it is worth a read and I highly recommend it.

The first book I've read by this author, I was alerted by a glowing 'book of the month' rave review from the founder of one of the best Facebook book groups.

Liam and Laura are arriving for their honeymoon on a remote Scottish island. The locals said the island was haunted, but Liam and Laura will be alone for a week, staying in a luxury cottage. What could possibly go wrong?

Very quickly they get the feeling they are not alone and are being watched. The presence of The Stalker is confirmed very early on, and from that moment the book accelerates into a nerve-jangling thrill ride, full of threat and tension right to the very end.

There are big shocks and twists, very clever writing and audacious plotting.

Overall a very smooth, tense and satisfying psychological thriller.

Highly recommended and I'll definitely be looking out for more of Sarah's titles.

Thanks to Netgalley and Avon

What would happen when a newly married couple decides to have their honeymoon is a desert island where is only the two of them for a week: a) they will have too much fun and it will be something they will never forget or b) they will be stalked and tormented by a murderer. Unfortunately for them, their beautiful honeymoon turned into a nightmare and they must face different situations to get out of that island alive.

Main characters

Laura Carrington just got married and lost her mother, so she's very depressed, I liked her character, she's the only one who knows how to use her brain but unfortunately, she's not strong enough to confront her husband.

With this, Liam is a stubborn and strong man, who only wants to protect his wife, however, he wasn't a character that I liked, he's too hateful and despite being a policeman he doesn't seem to have a sense of survival. Since their only plan is to counterattack the stalker, but from the conditions they are in, it's more than obvious that he doesn't have the advantage in this situation.

Plot

Now, let me tell you why you should read this book, the first 50% was very good, not original but interesting, I liked the concept and above all the tension, the author knew how to handle it very well, since it was unpredictable to know what would happen in each moment. BUT after 50% the plot twist was so awesome and unpredictable, I honestly took a few minutes to process it, it was so well done, I loved it.

The ending was so satisfying, I loved it in every sense of the word, I haven't liked an ending like this so much for a long time. To be honest I was going to give it 3⭐ but the plot twist changed everything. This is definitely a book that must be read once in a lifetime.

Final thoughts

I wasn't expecting much from this book but I was completely surprised, I loved it, it has a good plot and interesting characters, I definitely recommend it.
“This isn’t a honeymoon, it’s a bloody nightmare.”

What a book. Couldn’t put it down, had me read in into the night.

Liam and Laura Carrington are newly weds about to spend their honeymoon on a remote island in Scotland after they had to cancel their original plan of a Greek honeymoon after Laura’s mom dies. Things are not all they seem and things take a turn for the worst and the honeymoon ends up turning into a nightmare. Will Liam and Laura manage to survive the week. Kept me guessing all the way through about what was going to happen.

It’s always difficult to review a book like this with out giving anything away but I did find The stalker by Sarah Alderson a good read, the story flowed really well jumping between the present and the past to give an insight of the background of the main characters and the building suspense set on the isolated Scottish island between newlyweds Laura and Liam was great and the pace never let up and the ending although a bit convoluted was satisfying.

I've read books by this author before and really enjoyed them so when this came up on NetGalley I was so grateful that they let me have a copy.

We meet Laura and Liam, newly married and off on their honeymoon to a remote Scottish island, this is their second attempt at a honeymoon so it is well needed. What should be a seemingly perfect and relaxing honeymoon turns to be somewhat of a nightmare for the newlyweds. Laura sees a figure and this sets off a string of events that is really scary and harrowing. As a reader, the author really draws you into the story and I could not wait to find out what was really occurring in this novel. There are questions that the remote island is actually haunted and the reader wonders is this a ghost story? The story is told mainly from Laura's point but there are chapters from The Stalker.

I really recommend reading this book if you love a good creepy, harrowing and scary read that will keep you up until the early hours of the morning.

Thanks to Sarah Alderson, NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to have a copy of this well thought out novel in exchange for my review.

I loved this book. "The Stalker" had a great location-an isolated Scottish island in a huge restored castle that has a ghostly past (spooky) and very riveting characters in Laura and Liam. They are newlyweds who think they are being stalked but all is not what it seems. I will leave it at that. Twists and turns that will leave you dizzy all the way to the very satisfying ending that left me breathless. I highly recommend and look forward to reading more by Sarah Alderson.

Thanks so much to Net Galley and the publisher for the chance to read and review. .

I do love a good thriller novel and this one had me on the edge of my seat right through to the very end, I did not expect the twists and turns throughout this book at all! It is fast-paced, the suspense is just immense and it is certainly a page-turner. Cleverly written the characterisation really helps to engross the reader into the story.
Even though the book is about two people (well three, including the stalker) who are on an island for a week, every word and every page just encourages you to keep reading on. The ending had my head spinning, I was so shocked and couldn’t believe how clever this was.

The Stalker is one of the best books I have read this year and I will be talking about this book for a very long time and have already started to recommend it to fellow thriller readers. I haven’t read any previous books by Sarah Alderson but after reading this novel I have added some of her other titles to my list to purchase in the future.

A huge thank you to the publishers for letting me read an advanced copy of The Stalker on Netgalley. It is always nice to discover new authors.

You can buy this fabulous book from all booksellers, online and of course using any independent local bookshop.

The Stalker story is about a young couple going on a honeymoon on Shura, a small beautiful Scotland island. Haunted island - but this is not so important. During their seven days stay in a cosy cottage, they are being watched. Who was following them? Why? What will happen on the island? Are they in danger? How they survive the upcoming storm?
Sarah Alderson wrote an extraordinary novel, and nothing is so simple. While reading, I tried to understand why the couple is together, I couldn't find any links between them. Do they behave like a newly married couple? What is their story? I was also surprised about the layer of the story, and firstly I thought I could arrange it differently - what a mistake! An author set the story to catch the reader by surprise! I was shocked by unexpected twists I found towards the end of the book! The Stalker took me by the surprise as I didn't listen to my guts. The narration has several points of view, slowly encrypting the chilling details from the past and introducing the reader to the hidden truth.
I enjoy the reading. Sarah Alderson create a creepy, claustrophobic and shocking thriller - well done! If you think that the book is only about an overprotected husband and a susceptible wife, you will be surprised by what is hidden behind the scene. Recommend that book, a great plot with a surprising ending that you will not expect is coming!

Thank you, NetGalley and AvonBooks UK, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Just a day after their wedding, Liam and Laura had to cancel their honeymoon in Greece when Laura's mother is found dead after falling down the stairs. Months later, they making up for lost time and going on a romantic island get-away to Scotland where they will have the whole island to themselves.

Before dropping them off on the island, the locals give Laura a bit of a scare, telling her that the island is haunted. But she begins to think that maybe it's not all just local legend as strange things begin to happen. Slowly, the history of the island, the owners and even Liam and Laura begin to be revealed.

A fast and entertaining read that leads the reader to peek in one dark corner while the truth is sneaking up behind them.

Liam and Laura begin their honeymoon on an isolated Scottish island. It is only accessible by boat and seems such a romantic location to begin their married life. However they are being stalked by a mysterious stranger. The whole island becomes a very frightening place. Who has scored Devil on the outside window pane? When their gas and electricity is cut off and the emergency phone does not work who they can blame and why are they being subjected to this.
The story moves on to Mia’s part of the story and this makes a similar observations as well but what is the link and why is it happening? This is a brilliantly told thriller that you have to read twice to pick up the clues you didn’t spot first time. This is the best thriller I have read in a long time and Sarah Alderson never disappoints but gets better and better.

After reading the synopsis for this book, I was really intrigued and couldn’t wait to read it. I thought it started out really well and the author did a great job of building up the suspense factor, but the further I read, the more annoyed I became with Liam. Liam worked in law enforcement, yet he seemed to grow more paranoid and unhinged about the stalker, and the qualities he exuded didn’t seem to match up with his profession.

The end of this book is what really sealed the deal for me. It was so well planned out, and I didn’t have any inkling of how the truth would come to fruition, but my jaw literally dropped when it was revealed. That alone made this book worth reading.

This is an entertaining thriller about a couple whose honeymoon on a deserted island off the coast of Scotland goes badly awry when it appears they are being watched. It’s a quick, straightforward read with enough unanswered questions to keep you wanting to turn the page to the end. I didn’t find it as spine-chilling as I hoped but it is well-written with a satisfying twist.

Liam and Laura decide on a deserted island, Shura as their honeymoon spot after their initial plans had to be changed after Laura’s mother’s sudden death. The book starts by describing the beauty of the island of Shura. The island has a raw and rugged but charming appeal to it. Locals warn off Laura and Liam saying the island is haunted by its previous inhabitants, a family that lived there for hundreds of years.
But undeterred they decide to live in bliss for eight days although the boatman warns them of an approaching storm. Quickly bliss becomes hell on the deserted island as they find they have uninvited company, a person stalking their every move. Liam follows the stalker and decides to outwit them, but Laura keeps trying to convince him to stay away and locked in their cottage and wait out their stay until their boatman arrives at the end of the vacation.
Who is this mysterious person? Why are they being stalked? Will the stalker also harm them? Will they survive this week on this remote island?
Get ready to be spooked by mysterious shadows, footprints, and words scratched on their living room windows in the dead of the night. And, of course, no connectivity!
The book has an astounding, shocking, and unbelievable twist that I did not see coming. Laura narrates the bulk of the story, but we are also given chapters narrated by the stalker, portraying their instigation and character history which I thought was very interesting.
The story gave me the creeps and I was unsure of continuing to read it at night because frankly I was spooked. But I immensely enjoy thrillers that I cannot stop reading.
Thriller fans should not miss this book to be published in July 2021.
Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for an advanced copy of the book.

Well, Liam and Laura might have had a slight inkling that things may not go completely smoothly on the deserted island, what with it being supposedly 'haunted'. A really good thriller, slowly building and gathering pace to a great finale. Hard not to give spoliers for this one. Well worth reading, very atmospheric and super plotting. Would certainly recommend!

I wondered at the wisdom of Liam and Laura heading off on their honeymoon to an island that is supposedly haunted. Laura is already fragile but she convinces herself to relax and enjoy.
Laura’s worried about being watched, Liam wants to uncover the ‘mystery’ and the tension keeps building, I felt it and had to keep reading!
I’m glad that I stuck with this book, a slow build up to a thrilling read!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Tense and chilling from the word go.
Liam and Laura missed their original honeymoon when a tragedy struck so Liam thoughtfully books another when Laura is feeling up to it. They arrive in Scotland ready to be the first guests on a secluded island with only one habitable house, a small romantic cottage.. Almost at once Laura feels uneasy, as if she’s being watched but not wanting to spoil the mood she doesn’t tell Liam. Then things get increasing stranger, what happened to the last inhabitants of the island? Why is the castle in ruins? And who else is there?
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys tense psychological thrillers, it won’t disappoint.

I know I wouldn't have picked an island off the coast of Scotland for a honeymoon but Liam and Laura did. And now they're paying the price. They ignored talk about hauntings and the fact that help wouldn't be immediately available if they had trouble and well, now there's trouble, Someone is stalking them. Liam's convinced they should find out what's going on but Laura's not so sure. No spoilers from me. This is nicely atmospheric and well paced, Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

First off, it was the cover that attracted me to this book, isolated, creepy and gothic looking, plus I’d had this author on my radar but have never picked up one of her books.
Well, this was a heart pounding ride for me. Laura and Liam have taken a belated honeymoon to an isolated Scottish Island. They are supposed to be the only ones on the Island staying in a newly renovated cottage with all the mod cons, it should be bliss….but when Laura thinks she sees someone in the shadows outside, doubts creep in….and then more unexplained things happen.
Really what more can I say, I can imagine that some may think it’s a bit of the same/same ie locked room kind of thriller but personally I was on edge the whole time and that keep me turning the pages fast. About 75% in the tone changed dramatically and I had to adjust myself but seeing where it all led makes up for that. Really enjoyed this book.
Glad I finally read one of this authors novels and I will certainly try another.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy to read.

This book was perfect for me. The atmosphere, the deserted island in Scotland, and the tension felt on every page made the book impossible to put down. I even loved the twist, and that does not happen often.

This was a new author to me, but I will definitely look up more of her books.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
