So exciting!
Dinos vs. Machines definitely needs to be read with a sportscaster voice! I can see how it would be a very enjoyable read for any young kid (maybe elementary and middle school) who likes dinosaurs, machines, comic book-style writing, or all of the above!
The style of illustration was particularly engaging, and I really appreciated how you could come to your own conclusion as to who would win the battle. There are answers at the end of the book explaining who would win on a scientific level - so its fun to see if you were right!

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGally for the opportunity to read this advance copy.

I read this book with my 6 yr old and what's not to love about a book with both dinosaurs and machines! He enjoyed the battles and was fun to pick who he thought would win and then went over them at the end. It was very enjoyable and many kids will enjoy this book.

Review to come June 15th on blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review!

I just HAD to read this one, I mean dinosaurs? YAS! But also to see how they compare to modern machines like motorcycles and garbage trucks? Sign me up! The only thing that may have me a bit hesitant is the fact that dinosaurs these days have feathers...

Before the match begins we get information on the contestants. From when they were created/or when they lived to how heavy they were to a fun catchphrase. I really liked how that was done, though of course I was always rooting for the dinosaurs. Haha. On the two pages that follow we get a comic with fun commentary to go with each scene, and I love it. It was well-written and I could definitely hear the presentator's voice in my head as he made each comment. I liked that the battles/contests each fitted with the respective dinosaur. Like racing for velociraptors and digging for stegosaurus.

HOWEVER, I wasn't a fan of the And the Winner is... part. I am sure it works PERFECT on paperback/physical copies, but I am reading an ebook and sorry I just cannot go to a page near to the end of the book. I am reading this on the crappy ADE (Adobe Digital Editions) and believe me that thing HATES it if I scroll. So yeah, I was totally into the battles and then you have to go all the way to the end to find out... by the time I got through the book my hype for the most battles definitely had cooled considerately that I didn't even care that much. Again, I am sure it is fine in physical books, but I am reading it in ebook and it lessened my enjoyment so I have to mention it.

I really liked the machines and the dinosaurs we saw in this one. There were some that were expected (like motorcycles) but also some that I hadn't expected (like snowmobiles). I also liked seeing Ichthyosaur appear. That is one you don't always see.

I was a big fan of the art. It is a great style perfect for a book with dinosaurs, machines, and plenty of action~

All in all, I really had fun reading this one. Just a shame about that And The Winner Is.... part, but other than that this was a great book that I greatly enjoyed. I am glad that the dinosaurs were all just dinosaurs, no feathery bits and bobs. I would recommend it!

Dinos v Machines is an imaginative concept, combining two of my son's favourite things in a vivid comic strip style with lots of fun facts. Head to head battles take place across a varied and exciting range of events between the two teams of ten. The battle stats are presented, the challenge is announced and the battle is illustrated. Finally, decide who you think won then compare with the expert's opinion at the back of the book. My son absolutely loves this book.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a digital ARC in return for my honest review

I could see this book appealing to the dino loving crowd as well as those that are into big trucks and motorcycles. At 45, I wasn't overly interested in the stats, but I really, really wanted to know who won!

Stephanie! Buy this DINO book for Jack!

Sunday, Sun-day, S.U.N.D.A.Y. Come and see the biggest … loudest … craziest machines on the planet compete with the penultimate collection of competitors, D.I.N.O.S.A.U.R.S!
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the consummate little boys’ picture book—Dinos vs. Machines by Eric Geron and Mat Edwards.
Fresh from the Becker & Meyer press, this 47-page non-fiction children’s book is a little boy’s dream. Truthfully, little girls too. Why leave them out. This graphic description is a kids’ dream. Wait. What about moms, dads, aunts, and grandmas? Everyone will love this fun battle.
But, in this case, I’m thinking about my four-year-old great-nephew, Jack, who is a dinosaur freak. He would whip through this fabulous book in about 30 minutes and read it over and over again. (That’s one of the reasons this title caught my eye.)
Line them up and let them go. That’s the race day-like comparison Geron makes in this fun book.
Team Dinosaur showcases, among other wild prehistoric creatures, Velociraptor, ankylosaurus, and quetzalcoatlus. Those big boys are up against motorcycle, crane, and helicopter. HOW COOL! I can hear the arena announcer’s words reverberating in my ears.
Next on the battle schedule are the stats. While Velociraptor, from China and Mongolia, is a whopping 3.5-feet high, six feet long, and weighs in at 33 pounds, its competitor, the motorcycle, is four feet tall, six feet long, and weighs up to 700 giant pounds. Who will win this unbelievable competition?
Well, according to Geron … you’ll have to read this graphic-style battle book to find out.
Okay, this is really neat. Sometimes I wish I was a kid again so I could beg my mom to buy these fabulous graphic books. Car rides would have been so much better, and I bet my dad could have focused on the road instead of reaching into the back seat and pinching our legs.
My brother and I could have battled it out with our imaginations and fingers instead of our mouths and each other’s arms. I always lost. Why? Maybe because he’s my BIG brother. But I love him. What can I say?
Time passes, I guess, and we all learn from our mistakes. And Geron certainly did learn that providing kids with engaging reading material that compares similarly-sized items from today with prehistoric creatures is a great way to teach the subject and ignite children’s minds.
Nice job.
Dinos vs. Machines is a great pre-school through elementary-school-aged children’s read. This title offers a wide interest range because of its content and its design.
It looks like I found yet another title for the kids I love. Not only does Jack need a copy of this book, so do Abby, Brayton, CoraLilly, Reagan, Carter, and Archer.
Then, let’s all get together with a big collection of playdough, legos, blocks, and time and make some dino battles of our own.
