Description

One bizarre to-do list to earn her inheritance. One Spanish summer. One huge family secret.

'⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolutely delightful and captivating read!' – Lucy Coleman, bestselling author of Summer in Andalucia

'A delightful, romantic and moving adventure. I enjoyed every moment... A delicious slice of golden escapism' – Louise Douglas, bestselling author of The House by the Sea

Juliana makes a modest living as an 'ethnic' TV/film extra – even though the only connections with her Spanish heritage are her cacti, Spanish classes, and some confused memories of a Spanish mother she hasn't seen since she was seven.

When her beloved Uncle Arturo offers her the chance to discover her roots while housesitting his coastal home in a quiet corner of Andalusia, Juliana can't believe her luck. Especially when he reveals that the house will be hers if she fulfils ten life-enhancing 'Conditions' within 90 days.

Redecoration of the house and a visit to the old film studio where her mother used to sew costumes seem ridiculously simple tasks for such a wonderful reward. But little does Juliana realise that there are family secrets and inherited rivalries awaiting her in sunny Spain, and the condition that she has to 'get on with the neighbours' – who include a ruggedly handsome but moody artist – may be harder than she thinks.

The perfect escapist read for fans of Rosanna Ley, Jo Thomas and Sue Moorcroft.

This was my first Cherry Radford book and it was a beautifully written story. The description of Spain made the reader feel like they were there with Julianna in her journey.

When her beloved Uncle Arturo offers her the chance to discover her roots while housesitting his coastal home in a quiet corner of Andalusia, Juliana can't believe her luck. Especially when he reveals that the house will be hers if she fulfills ten life-enhancing 'Conditions' within 90 days. Redecoration of the house and a visit to the old film studio where her mother used to sew costumes seem ridiculously simple tasks for such a wonderful reward. But little does Juliana realize that there are family secrets and inherited rivalries awaiting her in sunny Spain, and the condition that she has to 'get on with the neighbors' – who include a ruggedly handsome but moody artist – may be harder than she thinks.

From the start you love Julianna and as a reader I enjoyed following her on the adventure life takes her on as she discovers her family's past.

This is a great summer read for anyone who is looking for one!

Thank you NetGalley and Aria & Aries for this advanced copy of this novel.

Thank you NetGalley, Aria & Aries and Cherry Radford for the chance to read and review this beautifully written advanced ebook!

Juliana is a film extra and comes from a Spanish background.
When her dear Uncle gives her the chance to explore her true roots about where she comes from.
She goes off to Andalusia, A small, quite place on the coast to house sit for her Uncle.
She is shocked to find out this little piece of heaven will be hers one day if and only if she can finish these ten life changing conditions in the next 90 days!
She barely has any memory of her mother.
So when she is tasked to redecorate a small old film studio where her mother once use to make costumes to Juliana that seems simply enough. Right?
Soon she will realize there are family secrets and rivals waiting for her in Spain.
One other condition is that she has to get along with the her neighbors and one of those neighbors includes a cute, handsome, haphazardly, cranky artist!
Will this be a ridiculous to do list just to earn her inheritance?

WoW! This book was simply a joy to read!
I absolutely loved Juliana's character. Full.of life, beautiful, smart.
The story itself was done so well.
Cherry Radford did an excellent job bringing the story to life. She is very descriptive of Spain and the surrounding area. Made me feel like I was standing right there!
This is a great book! Well written, complex storyline with various moving parts. The descriptions of setting were beautifully written and the inner feelings and motivations of our main characters were explored in a way that felt authentic and believable.

Would so recommend this amazing read!

Juliana discovers there's much more to her family than she ever knew when she goes to Andalusia for the summer. Her uncle's promise that she will inherit the house if she fulfills ten conditions- a sort of bucket list- seems simple but it's not at all. This is a lovely novel of family (with a romance of course!) in a terrific setting. It's just right for. a summer read (although it would be delightful to spend time in Spain in the middle of the winter!). Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Loved this in so many ways. One it is set in Spain in an area I love and my parents live. The descriptions were great. The story line with Juliana and her uncle and her father protecting over her mother. Twists in a good way. . I loved the list of tasks she had to do. The beaches especially .. Read this on kindle . Can’t wait for the paperback to send to friends. You got the love and friendship element with Josemi. A must must read

A charming tale that follows Juliana as she discovers more about her Spanish heritage, her seemingly hostile neighbour and herself. This is an easy read, it's interesting, entertaining and light-hearted. You can imagine the characters, the beautiful scenery...it's the perfect Spain escape whilst international travel is tricky right now!

I really enjoyed how the tales interweave and love that it has a 'five years later' chapter, that gives us a really love happy ending!

A sweet love story in a beautiful Spanish setting with a cast you'll adore. The Spanish House made me all warm and fuzzy inside. It's a journey of finding truth, family, and love. It was the feel-good story I needed.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the arc. I voluntarily read and reviewed this title.

I absolutely LOVED LOVED this book and would give it a million stars if I could. This book had everything a favorite book should have: a good premise, a strong main character, intrigue, a point to the story, a good ending, and the reader must care. This book had all those elements plus more. Plus it is also a book about rediscovering your worth and finding your place in the world after starting over.

I highly recommend this book and am buying a copy to own to re-read it at a later date. I would definitely re-read from this author in the future and will look into past books if there are any if it has half good as this one.

I sincerely thank Netgalley, Cherry Radford and Aria & Aries Aria for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent book! This is the first book that I have read by this author. I liked her style quite a bit. The plot was very interesting and flowed easily. The characters are developed wonderfully and I cared about them almost immediately. I was not certain where the plot was leading, but I was invested the entire time I was reading about Juliana’s progress to fulfill the list of requirements to be gifted her uncle’s house.

I felt like I was in Spain while reading the story since the scenery is described so beautifully. The beaches, restaurants and food made the story come to life. While Juliana was exploring Almeria’ city, so was I.

I want to mention, since I know very little Spanish language that sometimes I was confused when Spanish words were used intermingled with English. Since I was reading on a Kindle it was easy enough for me to highlight a word and go look at a dictionary or Wikipedia, which helped me greatly.

I recommend this book for anyone that reads Women’s fiction. It does have a bit of romance in the book but not too much that someone not interested in reading a romance story would be put off by.

I want to thank NetGalley and Aria & Aries for giving me the pleasure of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

A wonderful, absorbing read, reminiscent of Karen Swan’s books set in Spain and Italy. A novel that evokes its wonderful Spanish setting infused with all the senses and creating a sensual and moving tale. Julianna seizes the chance her uncle offers her to go to Spain and fix up his old summer house while at the same time learning about her Spanish heritage and the place her mother loved. It’s also an opportunity to escape and perhaps even put behind her, the never ending attachment and fascination with her childhood friend, now famous actor, Toby. Julianna’s own life had taken on the role as an extra- both in the film profession and in her own personal life. Spain was the chance to be her own leading role. But with these opportunities also come figures from the past, rearing up from unexpected places and directions. And her neighbour, Josemi, darkly handsome, prickly and somehow connected to all of this. All the threads in the story are beautifully and tightly woven together into a lovely seamless and totally absorbing novel.

“The Spanish House” by Cherry Radford is a fun mix of romance and humor with a stunning take on the culture and landscape of Spain. This light and cozy tale shines a light on the need to understand one’s own heritage and culture, the struggles of a language barrier, embracing activities outside one’s comfort zone, and how chasing after dreams can be hard work that pays off in the end.

Juliana gets an amazing opportunity to spend 90 days fixing up her uncle’s cottage house on the coast of Spain. Enticed by the chance to inherit the house should she meet all of his conditions and tired of her life in England, Juliana takes him up on the challenge. Though, when she arrives in Spain, it becomes clear the list she’s meant to complete isn’t as easy as her uncle made it seem. With only a limited amount of time to check everything off her list, Juliana is overwhelmed by the work set out for her. Throw in an irresistible neighbor who also happens to be a talented artist that may or may not return her feelings is yet another challenge to add to her list.

“The Spanish House” is equal parts romance, a richly detailed scenic view of places to see in Spain, and a young woman’s journey to self-discovery. In its purest form, Radford presents a deep appreciation for someone willing to embrace their culture while pursuing their dreams and being caught off guard by falling or a neighbor whose beauty rivals his own art. Reading a story that is clearly written by an author who is passionate about the tale only adds to the allure of Juliana’s journey to embrace her Spanish roots and her dreams about her future. It’s easy to get caught up in the romance and shared wit that will make readers laugh, including the vivid details of the Spanish landscape that is intricately woven throughout.

There is a lot to look forward to in these pages that will entice readers to pick up this story and give it a read. “The Spanish House” is out now!

Thank you to Netgalley and Aria & Aries (Aria) for inviting me to read the e-arc of this novel and to share my honest opinion in this review!
