this book had such an interesting premise and at first i found it hard to get into and wasnt sure how i would feel about it but as it went on it got better but it wasnt the best thriller that i have read this year. the story was good and the characters were good but something just didnt gel completely, although i still enjoyed reading it.
Jersey Police Chief Sarah Braintree receives a top award for police services just as a killer strikes, leaving notes and clues for Sarah. This seems personal to the killer, striking in quick succession. The clues and riddles make no sense initially and the body count rises. Soon the link is made, Sarah and the team make the deadly connections.
A quick paced enjoyable book. Stand alone and you got to know the characters quickly, sympathising with Sarah’s blight. I will certainly be looking to read more from Colin Wade.
First off... the cover! Striking, bold and solid. Grabbed my attention instantly.
Secondly... just wow! I absolutely loved this book.
A formidable strong lead character Police Chief Sarah Braintree. After who receiving a top award for her services to the police department is then thrown straight in the deep end of a serial killers rampage.
The killings feel personal, aimed at Sarah. Notes are left on the bodies of each victim, leaving clues for Sarah to solve.
Whilst the body count rises, the riddles in the clues make no sense. The link needs to be made!
A fast paced, enthralling, engaging read that hooked me straight away and had me racing through the pages.
100% recommend.

Ohh the storyline was fascinating, deep, intense, thrilling, and shocking! Honestly, as much as I needed to know how it ended!
This is a murder/serial killer book set on an island in the UK. The plt went straight into it and didn't really stop all the way through the book. This has a high profile decretive and also a female serial killer which i don't think I've come across before. it had some great popular culture references like friends and there was lots of clues to solve.. I did struggle a bit with some similar names and i couldn't always remember who was who - and this confused me a bit. it also highlighted police corruption and i was struggling to work out who had done it. I'm hoping that i get to revisit these characters in the future as this was a good book.
A Crime Spree That Knows No Bounds…
Cryptic notes and a crime spree intensifying by the day. Can the best police chief that Jersey has ever seen crack this particular case? Sarah Braintree knows that the only way she can possibly do this is by breaking with every protocol in the book. An engaging read.
In his latest novel Colin Wade uses all the tropes that make crime fiction so good and this police procedural still sparkles with originality. Jersey, still relatively unused by crime novelists, provides a beautiful backdrop for an intensely dark and complex plot. The author pays homage to the genius of Agatha Christie in a story full of unexpected twists and turns, and a razor-sharp denouement.
