Advance Praise

** Praise for Reputation**

'Reputation blew me away. It's a masterpiece – breathtakingly brilliant, powerful, gripping and with an incredibly important message about the treatment of women in the public eye. I binge read it as I couldn't bear to put it down. It's simply phenomenal – a work of sheer genius. I'm sure it will be a runaway hit and deservedly so' Sarah Harris

‘A genuine page-turner with a flawed protagonist who acts like a real human being. This book is going to provoke a lot of important conversations. I honestly couldn't put it down’ Emma Curtis

‘Wow! Vaughan’s best book yet, which is saying something. Reputation pulls off being both a necessary must-read novel about women in public life - the trolls, the threats, the misogyny - and an absolute masterclass in storytelling with some of the best court scenes I’ve ever read. Vaughan slips under the skin of her characters so deftly, and with such skill and compassion, I lived every page. Riveting. Shocking. Unbelievably good. I loved it’ Eve Chase

‘Intelligent, morally complex, with a burning sense of menace, REPUTATION is a chilling portrait of how a life can unfold through a series of incremental actions - one’s own, and other people’s. With a remarkable understanding of what it is to be a woman and a girl, the novel forces readers to consider the choices we make under pressure, and their potentially obliterative consequences. We are left with a single, haunting question: and what might we have done?’ Charlotte Philby

‘A tour de force. So sharp and intelligent … and emotional too. And VERY topical. It is going to resonate with a lot of women’ Louise Beech

Reputation is a brilliant, compelling and heartbreakingly relevant powerhouse of a book.’ Cressida McLoughlin

‘My only complaint is a severe lack of sleep because once the court case had started there was no way I could tear myself away from it. I was totally gripped. I loved the intricacy of it, the seesaw of emotions. So clever and so visual. I could picture it perfectly. Another one for Netflix’ Cari Rosen

‘Power-packed. Pacy. Punchy. Potent...Possibly the best book I’ve read this year’ Jane Corry

'Sarah Vaughan has once again tapped into the zeitgeist, writing another current and relatable tale. It's a triumph - pacy and tense. I couldn't put it down’ Fionnuala Kearney

‘Timely, important, thought-provoking and as always with Sarah Vaughan, impeccably executed, REPUTATION deserves to be huge. Sarah Vaughan is one of the best suspense writers in the market today and she excels at this portrait of a woman under intense pressure. I loved it’ Phoebe Morgan

‘This deep dive into the world of the political woman and the dangers behind the facade is timely and compelling’ Jane Shemilt

‘I absolutely adored the book...It's a clever, timely book, which shows how disastrous consequences can spiral from a network of female fear and oppression’ Araminta Hall

‘Wow! Loved Reputation. Brilliantly written and plotted, and as full of emotional depth as I expected having loved her other books’ Laura Marshall

‘Wow, what a book. Compelling, clever and chillingly current. It's tense, superbly researched and brilliantly written. Got to be on Netflix’ Laura Kemp

‘Timely, necessary, and gripping, do not miss out on REPUTATION. With her trademark acuity and empathy, Sarah Vaughan skilfully dissects the pressures facing women in both public life and private while delivering an absolute nail-biter of a novel. It’s a must-read for 2022’ Gilly Macmillan

‘Perceptive, elegant, thrilling and addictive. Reputation is further proof that Sarah Vaughan handles such important, timely issues with endless flair and compassion. I’m a huge fan’ Chris Whitaker

I had some free time this morning and i raced through this book. Well this could not be more apt for our times. I wanted to read this with the recent goings on at No 10 and the author has a keen eye for what can and does happen behind the closed doors of power. There is a real thriller aspect to it as well as we get to see behind the scenes of the most powerful people in the land. There’s aspects of bullying too towards the MPs family which was a sad side effect of the whole situation. A more insightful and relevant novel for our times would be hard to find.

Another knockout, thought-provoking read. The genius in addressing such important, topical issues on a foundation of brilliant storytelling is a recipe for success.

#AnatomyOfAScandal completely blew me away, and #Reputation has done the same. Thank you Sarah Vaughan, your books will stay with me for a long time and will help me navigate through the many issues that women face on a day-to-day basis, as well as raising a daughter of my own.

One of my favourite authors, one of my favourite books that I've read this year, one of the books you NEED to get your hands on.

As in her superlative courtroom drama ‘Anatomy of a Scandal’. Sarah Vaughan perfectly sums up the political zeitgeist with this timely and perceptive account of the pressures on women in public life - at the mercy of online trolls and other misogynist elements in society. Shocking, riveting and chilling!

I loved this tense story of politics, scandal and a courtroom drama and raced through it in one sitting. It highlighted the many imbalances that are present for women who choose to work in politics and the abuse they receive when they put their head above the parapet

This was sadly so realistic that at times I forgot it was fiction and wanted to google Emma Webster. It's appalling to think that it's inevitable that women will experience abuse if they choose to work from a feminist agenda.

I felt it mirrored too closely the life of many women in politics and the risks that they take on a daily basis, as well as being judged and the personal sacrifices they have to make. Often receiving death, rape and security threats from the toxic side of social media and working alongside sexism and misogyny.

A powerful, thought provoking and important book highlighting the many pressures women are under

"This is what life's like if you're in the public eye - perhaps particularly if you're a woman. You need to take these precautions everyday"
