Description
The safari animals are hungry! Choose what to feed each pop-up animal in this fun and innovative interactive board book for kids.
In Hungry Animals, children are presented with a series of bright and funny wild animals, each with their mouth wide open (a v-fold pop-up), eagerly awaiting a tasty treat.
The child can choose a 'dangly' food item (hanging from the spine of the book) to feed to each animal. The hungry giraffe might want to munch on a crisp, green leaf but wouldn't it be funny to give her monkey's tasty banana instead? What would monkey say about that?
This delightful series of pre-school books encourages young children to engage with the book and converse with the parent or carer, form connections between the animal characters and what they like to eat, and to practice hand-eye coordination through play. They can choose to either pick the correct food to give each animal or can engage in ‘silly play’ by offering knowingly inappropriate foods to each character.

Great book that my daughter enjoyed reading to me in a packed waiting room!
Easy to read and understand, as well as pretty colourful illustrations.
Great book.
I read this book with my daughter and she thought it was great!
I loved the illustrations they were really nice and bright and worked really well with the book too.
She loved to join in and she could easily do that with this one so it was a hit it with us.
It is 4 stars from me for this one, a fun little book and a great way to get little ones more involved and to develop their love of reading - highly recommended!
What a fun, bright and engaging book. Great way to help children learn what animals eat and can imagine the giggles now from giving the animals what they want and watching them chomp it down. This will soon be a firm family favourite! I will definitely be buying this for my grandchildren. Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me early access to an online copy of this book.
OK, so this wasn't a book that was ideal to review digitally, but what I saw was fine – to a point. We get four jungle creatures that are hungry – a crocodile, a giraffe, a monkey and a bright blue bird, and the flaps that open up show them mouths agape and starving. So you have to choose one of four food ribbons dangling from the structure of the book to 'feed' to each animal. In other words, no you cannot feed the crocodile with the giraffe, however much he'd want it. Instead, crocodile gets a piddly little fish for his lunch – or would you rather switch and swap, and give the animals nonsense foodstuffs? I'm sure QI or someone has insisted monkeys don't eat bananas in the wild, anyway. Let's face it, this isn't a book, but it's a tool for getting the very young hand used to handling and interacting with a book, and that is a vital part of anyone's household set-up.
