Description

An inoffensive man is murdered in a seemingly motiveless attack. Detective Inspector Geraldine Steel and her team are baffled, until DNA from an apparent stranger is discovered on the victim’s body. Geraldine is not convinced the suspect is guilty. When a witness comes forward to offer the suspect an alibi, Geraldine lets him go. That night, a second murder is committed. The evidence points to the suspect who has just been released. As Geraldine attempts to make sense of the suspect’s complex history, he goes on the run. Even his wife appears to condemn him. Only Geraldine still doubts that he is to blame for the murders, but is she prompted by her own guilt for having released him to kill again? As with the previous DI Geraldine Steel books this had me hooked from the outset.
The ongoing storyline of Geraldine & her team alongside 2 seemingly unrelated murders make for an intriguing tale.
Already looking forward to the next instalment.

A murder. DNA discovered at the crime scene. A suspect apprehended. An apparently open and shut case for DI Geraldine Steel and the team, right?

When a witness comes forward to give the suspect an alibi, Geraldine releases him. But then another murder victim is discovered with the same DNA at the scene. Has Geraldine made a terrible mistake in letting him go?

Book 17 in this excellent series. Lots of twists and turns. Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks to netgalley for letting me review the latest geraldine steel. This book had me guessing from the start right to the end......... Can geraldine prove all of her team wrong when she is the only one to believe the main suspect is innocent ?

Leigh Russell's heroine, Geraldine, is called upon to find the person who murdered someone with apparently no enemies.
More of a steady pressure than a series of breakthroughs, fans of police procedurals will enjoy this one.

A seemingly motiveless attack leaves a man dead. But there's DNA on the body from an apparent stranger.

Another murder, a suspect with an alibi, and a man on the run....who Geraldine Steel doesn't think is the killer.

Is she guilt-ridden after releasing him only for another murder to take place?

Thrilling
