I loved every second of this story. It is everything you want from a domestic noir book. The characters all are well written, 3d individuals in their own right who make mistakes whilst trying to get through life. This book never resorts to clichés or characters you've read about 20 times before. There are plenty twists and turns the deeper into it you go and it definitely proves that you can never entirely know someone no matter how close you may be. I literally flew through this in a day and just couldn't put it down! Every spare 5 minutes I had were used to get further along and hopefully finally some answers. It'll have you hooked! A perfect summer or lazy day read
A terrific domestic thriller that I read in one sitting! The sense of dread was real for this one, as an unsuspecting wife came to discover some significant secrets belonging to her (potentially) deceased husband.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me an advance copy of this psychological thriller.
This book was sent to me by.Netgalley for review electronically. The characters are likable…the story moves quickly…there are a few red herrings, but the novel ends in a way that is somewhat predictable…that is a good thing for me…I love the guessing…this author is gifted in weaving a tale that is realistic…enjoy…
I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review
I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me turning pages as I tore through it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Gave me chills. Solid five

My Husband’s Secrets finds Ali married to Matthew, but after a night out their car is involved in an accident and Matthew is missing. So when Ali comes out of hospital she is met with secrets and lies from her daughter Emma and her best friend Liz and her husband Dane, and she uncovers that Matthew was stealing from their property development company and is shocked by how much money is missing and who is involved. It’s a good read which kept me interested until the final chapter, and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre, this is Louise Sharland’s second book and I think she has a bright future as an author if this book is anything to go by.A great 4 star read from me.
A twisty domestic thriller! I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the pacing! Louise Sharland is definitely an author to watch. I look forward to reading more by her! Don't miss this one.
My Husband’s Secrets is Louise Sharland’s latest domestic thriller. We are introduced to a British couple having an argument and subsequently having an automobile accident in the Prologue. The woman is rescued and heard saying, “save Matthew.” When the first chapter starts, it is two months later and 43-year-old Alice (Ali) is recovering from her injuries. The crash happened during a torrential downpour when they were on their way home from their third anniversary celebration. Her beloved husband, Matthew Penrose, is missing and presumed dead by family and friends. The wrecked car was recovered from the river where it was swept by floodwaters, but his body is missing.
Ali owns a successful property developed company that she founded with her first husband, who died at age 36 of lung cancer. Their 22-year-old daughter, Emma, works with Ali at the firm, along with Ali’s best friend since age 13, Liz. Liz’s husband, Dane, knew Matthew from their army days, and introduced the pair. Ali was reluctant to date Matthew because he is eight years younger than her, but he overcame her fears. He was an online trader and frequently lost money, and their prenuptial agreement said any future money trading by him is grounds for a divorce.
In addition to physical injuries, Ali is dealing with memory loss. She can’t remember all of the details of the accident, nor what caused their ugly fight and the horrific words that Matthew said to her immediately before they got into the car. Matthew and Emma never got along, so Emma hopes that he is dead. Emma and Liz are stressed from Ali’s absence from the business but won’t share any details with her. Liz’s husband’s financial business is slow. So he’s helping out too.
Ali discovers that 500 pounds is missing from their home’s secret cashbox, so she is convinced that Matthew is still alive. Then she learns that his laptop is missing, and so is his custom-made leather jacket. Ali schemes with Dane to look for Matthew in small towns in the southwest region of the country, keeping it secret from everyone else, especially Liz. Ali’s gay account brother, Graham, audits the financials at the business and finds that Matthew embezzled money.
Ali loves Matthew and believes the best of him, excusing his indiscretions. Everyone else thinks he was using Ali for financial gain. With Ali’s memory lapses, the story jumps around in time as Ali remembers past events. The reader wonders if Matthew is dead or alive, and if he’s dead, who is doing things to make him seem still alive.
My Husband’s Secrets is a well-written British domestic thriller. While I didn’t identify with Ali, she was likeable, and I was sucked into the missing-husband mystery. The characters are well-identified and the hints are dispensed slowly to keep the story moving. My one caution is that there is a lot of alcohol consumption in this book, so some readers might find it offensive. I recommend this book for thriller fans.

This was.a really on the.edge if you seat book. It had me from the start. Characters were awesome, really liked them. Would recommend it
After an accident Ali can't believe that her husband Mathew is gone. There is no body and until he is found she has to keep believing that he is out there somewhere trying to get home.
As time goes on things come to her attention that mean her husband wasn't truthful to her. Was it only him or is anyone around her trustworthy?
What a rollercoaster ride Ali took us on. I didn't know who to trust and suspected everyone.
This is quite the page turner with believable characters. I loved it.
Louise Sharland does it again. Read this book in one sitting. A dark domestic thriller that reeled you in instantly and kept you guessing with unpredictable plot twists. Seems like everyone had a secret to keep. Families are funny that way. Loved it.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc
Really enjoyed this one. It was gripping and the ending could have gone either way with Matthew, I couldn’t predict which!
It was set in Plymouth - love a book set where I have been/ live, could really visualise everything
Great cast of characters
Lots of intrigue and my suspicion was directed all in a different direction with every turn of the page
I liked the main character - don’t want to give away spoilers, so I will just say she was strong and assertive in situations where she could have crumbled
I enjoyed most of the ending, though I there was one person I felt deserved some forgiveness who did not get it, that made me sad!
Overall, a great read, and I will be reading her other books!

Brilliant writing and more importantly, riveting reading. This was a brilliant read. Set aside plenty of time to read in without a workday. It had my head spinning!
I rate this 4.75. This is one of the most exciting mystery/thriller book I’ve read. An easy read, captivating. It is the first book of Louise Sharland’s that I read. The prologue left me wanting to read more immediately. Back and forth with what happened? Where? When? How? Some of the plots I thought I would be able to predict, but those were hazy memories almost as if I’m experiencing the main character’s predicament. When the epilogue came, I sigh a relief, and stepped into that “sun-filled kitchen” one with her.
I wonder what it is like to read her debut novel back then, I’ll find out in the near future no doubt.
I really enjoyed this novel, it is a domestic thriller with fantastically complex rendered characters, no cliches to be found! The plot is very engaging and there are enough twists to keep you engrossed. This will be an ideal holiday read, I really struggled to stop once I'd started!
I enjoyed this book and thought it was a good domestic thriller. Didn't love the characters but thought the story was fun!
After Ali and her husband Matthew are involved in a road accident, Ali spends her days wondering what happened to her husband who seemed to just vanish after the crash. Did he die in the crash, or did he walk away confused? As she begins to discover secrets her husband kept from her, she must do everything she can to find out the truth... A thrilling story that keeps you turning the pages. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.
This book is dark with very strong emotions - but don’t let that put you off! On the contrary this is what makes it such a fantastic read.
My Husband's Secrets is a domestic thriller that really keeps you turning the pages. I really enjoyed the plot and found the writing really easy to follow and well paced. Thank you to NetGallery for the ARC.
I will admit I wasn’t sure about this at the start, it was a bit too slow for me, but once the plot had picked up pace, I was hooked! What a wonderful plot with a satisfying ending.
Interestingbook a bout suspense, lies, and secrets among spouses and friends who are also business associates. Language could have been toned down. The ending was a surprise and overall, a good book.
An unputdownable page turner. So tense so chilling kept me reading late into the night. The characters the wife mourning her supposedly deceased husband.Twists and turns shocking moments.Highly recommend.#netgalley #avonbooksuk
I haven’t read The Lake by this author but I’ll be reading it soon enough…if it’s anything like My Husband’s Secrets, it will be well worth the time. Ali and Matthew have celebrated their third anniversary with friends and family and on the way home, are involved in an accident. When Ali wakes up in the hospital, she finds more questions than answers, especially about her husband. My Husband’s Secrets is a thrill ride from the first page to the last. Surprises, betrayals, lies, all are contained within the storyline and, like the very best mystery thrillers, the ending is nothing like you could guess which I absolutely loved! Five stars for sure and already anticipating Ms. Sharland’s next novel.
This was a quick moving mystery. It has memorable characters and good setting. The story was interesting and held my interest.
It is Ali and amatthews wedding anniversary. They have gone out to celebrate when they are involved in a fatal car accident and Matthew is killed.
Ali is consumed with grief and she now has to navigate the world without Matthew in it. But as the months pass Ali starts to question whether she really ever knew Matthew at all. As she starts uncover lots of secrets that Matthew has kept from her over the years.
A really good, gripping story. With a great storyline and great characters. I really enjoyed it.
