Description
A sleeping cat, a playing kitten, and a scaredy cat are just some of the cats included in this book. With 15 fun drawing projects, I Can Draw: Cats & Kittens is a collection of some of kids’ most loved cats. All of the drawings are created with simple shapes that are easy for young artists to make, and the cute illustrations are appealing and approachable to young ones.
The book begins with an introduction to drawing materials and instructions on how to use the book, and then it jumps right into the drawing projects. For a cute kitten:
- Kids start with a square, add a line, a curved line, and some more straight and curved lines. They are encouraged to keep following along with each step.
- As they make their way through the multiple steps, all the new pencil marks to make are shown in a different color so it’s easy to know what to draw next.
- Once they near the end of the project, these young artists will start to see a drawing of a baby kitten appear on their paper, and all they need to do now is add some color.
Each title in the I Can Draw series features easy step-by-step drawing lessons for little artists. Starting with basic shapes, such as a square, a rectangle, a triangle, and a circle, children will discover how to draw a range of subjects. The books in the I Can Draw series provides the perfect introduction to drawing for budding artists.

What a great introduction to art this book is, for young artists. The book shows easy to read, step by step lessons, which introduce the reader to artistic tools, and a description of how to use basic shapes, such as triangle, circle, square and rectangle, in order to draw cats and kittens easily. My daughter and I are going to try drawing each of the 15 cats and kittens and we look forward to it! I am sure we will have a lot of fun using these great ideas.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is such a fun way to learn how to draw cats. Even for people who are mostly good at stick figures. Yes, I'm talking about myself. As a huge cat lover and a 4-year old niece I love to impress, this book is the perfect way for me to draw cute felines for her to color in.
This is such a good guide book of how to draw cats. It provide 15 ways to draw cats in different situation such as scaredy cat, sleeping cat etc. The step by step is very detail so it's easy for childrens to follow. I definitely recommend for parents to give this book for their childrens.
This book is extremely adorable. It has a bunch of kitties in different poses with step-by-step instructions on how to draw them using simple shapes. Geared toward a younger audience, with line drawings (as opposed to realistic drawing). It was exactly the book that I was looking for to learn how to doodle. I drew many of the cats. My favorites are the laying cat and the sitting kitten.
Thank you to NetGalley for letting me review this book. All opinions are my own.
Great beginners drawing book for kiddos and even some parents, as myself, that often find ourselves being subjects to requests to draw anything and everything by our own children.
Lovely and easy to follow step-by-step drawing instructions.
Being a cat owner myself as well, I loved how these cute illustrations showcase the cats in different poses and even let some different personalities shine with the incorporation of different facial expressions in all cats and kittens pictures.
This book is so fun! I have to admit I didn’t realize that this book was probably aimed at kids until after I did my second or third drawing, but I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. My toddler got a kick out of seeing the drawings too. They are easy, don’t require any special equipment, and are really cute. I think they’ll be a nice touch for journal margins and I’m looking forward to going back and trying out the other 7/15 I didn’t draw yet. Thank you to Emily Fellah, Quarto, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is a super cute step by step guide to drawing cats and kittens. Even a complete novice (like myself) can use this guide to produce something that undoubtedly resembles a cat! For novice adults and children age 6 or 7 up, I'd say this book is a winner!
I love how contemporary the images are and how simple and easy to follow this book is - it is short and sweet!
My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.
Cats and Kittens is the perfect book to introduce children (or adults for that matter) to drawing. It is aimed at the beginner and uses simple shapes and lines with step by step instructions and clear illustrations. Children will be producing adorable cats and kittens with ease. A fun and useful book that would make a great gift.
Kids who love cats and drawing will have fun with this book. It shows how to draw any number of cats in steps that are clear and easy to follow. Pick from the curled up cat, the grumpy kitten, the sleeping cat, the surprised kitten and many more. Have a child you know get out their pencils and paper and get to it!
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Thanks to the publishers for sharing this book. It'd be good for someone who needed a confidence boost to get going with drawing. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.
Really cute book on drawing cats and kittens, the shapes are simple to draw and can be decorated in different ways to add interest.. It is only a small book of 30 pages, but it certainly has a lot of information and projects to learn from.
Great for kids of all ages, and adults can also get some fun out of this book.
