Still grieving the loss of her husband John in a freak hunting accident, Cameron Prescott is shocked to learn that his career as a successful criminal defense attorney had masked his identity as a serial killer. John was identified as The Teacher Killer after his death and with Cameron’s help. However, the police, the public and the press all believe that Cameron knew of John’s involvement and had probably helped him. Desperate to understand how she could have been so mistaken, she begins The Final Hunt. She is convinced that John is still alive and that only she will be able to track him down. Will she? Or will she be his final victim?

The Final Hunt is an exciting, fast-paced read, exactly what you expect from Audrey Cole. The vast Alaskan wilderness becomes an important part of the plot as does the weather and animal behavior (thank you, Valerie). Cameron is a strong character and her developing relationship with Dane adds romance to this suspenseful thriller. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Audrey J. Cole for this ARC.

Great book! I was pleasantly surprised at this book! I thought it was going to be a totally different book?! But thus book ended up being awesome! The storyline was very interesting and flowed nicely! It had suspense, intrigue, action and a twisted serial killer! Let me tell you the main female character had some big lady cajones! Lol she was bad azz! I definitely liked her way of thinking! I highly recommend reading this book! Its well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

4.25⭐️

This was my first book by Audrey J Cole and I loved it! It was fast paced and I loved the setting in Alaska and I thought Cole wrote all of the supporting characters really well. I would have liked to see more of Dane in the story though - he was one of my favourite characters.

Cameron is grieving the loss of her husband when she finds evidence that he was a serial killer. This story switches between Cameron’s point of view and Thomas’ (the main detective) point of view.

I predicted parts of the ending, but there were definitely elements that I didn’t anticipate. I really liked the ending!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

The author continues her hot streak when it comes to presenting excellent stories. In this novel, readers meet a dentist whose lawyer husband is reported dead, killed by a bear. When unknown mortgages, bank withdrawals, and cashed-in insurance policies appear, evidence seems to point in another direction. Is he really dead? What about rumors of his criminal activities? With secrets of her own to hide, the grieving wife looks for her husband in an exciting story.

I loved Audrey J. Cole’s The Pilot’s Daughter and couldn’t wait to read The Final Hunt. While the stories are very different, the writing is excellent for both and they are real page-turners. Cameron finds out that her husband John was a serial killer. John supposedly died in a bear attack when he was at his hunting cabin, but Cameron is convinced that he’s still alive. Her quest to find him brings her to a remote area of Alaska. The details about life in Alaska were fascinating and there are some great twists throughout the book. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. Thanks to #netgalley and #rainierpublishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a massive mystery and thriller fan and I know a lot of other reviews say it's too neat n the love interest is unrealistic but i loved it anyways! It's not that deep, just appreciate it for what it is. The overall premise and plot was really good and had a unique setting. The characters were well written and no too cliched or just carbon copies of every other thriller female protagonist. The writing style was fast paced and it really kept you glued to the pages. There isn't a lot of depth in thr characters but from what you're told about them, it is easy to empathise with the main main character and see hwe want to succeed. The love interest was cute but yes, very very unlikely (especially his behaviour for a police officer) but I can't say it took anything away from the actual focus of the book which was the story of a woman and her dead hubby. There aren't really any twists you don't see coming..... maybe the wolves i guess?!..... but its still a fast paced and engaging book which will keep your attention til the end. Also, I did love the wolves!! Did I mention the wolves are awesome lol. Its bor reinventing the wheel but it doesn't need to to still be a really enjoyable book

This book kept me guessing about the characters the entire book. Loved the fast paced action and the wicked ways that were used to extinguish the bad.

Such a great and compelling book, it had me hooked from the beginning. the story was very well written fast paced, which I find perfect when it comes to mysteries and thrillers, because I get hooked on the books easily. Though a bit predictable towards the end, it still had me second guessing all the characters, something I personally believe to be a great feature in these type of books. I liked the fact that there weren’t lots of characters, because sometimes that can get confusing, especially in this genre. This was my first book by Audrey J. Cole and it was a great and enjoyable read. I will definitely be reading other books by her! Thank you Netgalley for sharing this book!

Ooooh! This one drew me in right away!! I started it during my lunch hour and it was hard to tear myself away to go back to work. It is a page-turning thriller about a woman - Cameron - who finds evidence that her dead husband was a serial killer! Whaaaat!?! The circumstances of his death were questionable since his body was never found, so Cameron takes it upon herself to search for the truth before she loses everything! While I liked that she was a baddie on a mission, there were some circumstances where you had to suspend reality - like that she could survive by herself in the Alaskan wilderness with no experience in winter camping. I really enjoyed the character Dane and wish more time had been spent developing his contribution to the story. There were some unanswered questions that did not get resolved by the end of the book, but I found it to be an enjoyable read and I will definitely look for more books by Audrey Cole. I could see this being turned into an exciting movie! For me this was a solid 3.75 stars, rounded up to 4. Thanks for the ARC, #NetGalley, #BooksGoSocial and #AudreyJCole! #TheFinalHunt

Cameron, grieving, finds proof her husband was a serial killer and takes this proof to the police.
Money is missing. Cameron has her own secrets.
This is a quick read with short chapters.

A fast-paced, thrilling book that had me racing towards the ending, eager to find out what happened to Cameron. I love strong female characters, and she certainly fit the bill. I have been known to get irritable when a romantic plot line is thrown into the mix, but I thought it worked very well here. I'd love to see this book turned into a film, or series.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for providing an ARC, for which I willingly provided this honest review.

Thanks to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for an eARC to review! The Final Hunt is my first book by Audrey J. Cole. It is a standalone thriller. It will be published June 7, 2022.

Cameron's world is completely turned upside down when she finds evidence that her late husband John is actually the Teacher Killer, a serial killer responsible for eleven deaths of young teachers in the Seattle area. Her house won't sell for what it's worth, and her dental practice has to close. After uncovering more evidence, Cameron begins to believe John did not die in that hunting accident after all. Cameron decides to try to find John, and the hunt begins, taking Cameron up into the Alaskan wilderness.

I loved the pace of this book. The shorter chapters helped me devour this book in a few hours. I could not put it down! This book was plot driven, and it kept me hooked until the very end! I also really loved the setting of this book. Because of the extreme weather and animal activity, the setting became its own character in the story. This book was also very predictable, and I was able to guess the plotline long before the end. I still loved seeing how everything turned out, but it lacked the twists and turn I've come to expect in thrillers. I feel like the book could've been longer and explored John's backstory. I thought the love interest was thrown in as an afterthought and could've been explored more as well. I also had an issue with Cameron's choices in this book. I felt like they required a suspension of disbelief. All in all, I liked the book, but I feel like it had the potential to be better.

What would you do if you find out the person you loved for the past ten years turns out to be a serial killer? At its root, this is the premise of 'The Final Hunt' by Audrey J. Cole. For three months, Cameron has been mourning the loss of her husband, John, who was mauled to death by bears while on a hunting trip in the remote wilderness with his closest friend, Simon. Struggling to move on, she goes weekly to a cabin John loved, reliving memories of their happy times. While looking at old photos, she comes across an SD card; hoping it holds more memories of her life with her husband. To her dismay, however, there is something way more sinister afoot: disturbing pictures with him and a dead girl. From here, Cameron makes increasingly disconcerting discoveries about the man she was married to.

I do not want to give out too many spoilers for this, but can I just say that Cameron...is who I aspire to be when I grow up! (Yes, I'm in my thirties, but don't judge). Where many women in her situation would have been all "Oh, woe is me," she kept her convictions throughout the novel, and made boss lady moves and decisions. This positive portrayal of a heroine was the best part of this book for me.

What I enjoyed least in this novel was the lack of mystery. The plotline was fairly predictable, and I guessed the 'whodunit' pretty early on. In my opinion, the best part of anything touting itself as a thriller and mystery should have a little more...thrill and mystery. I also did not appreciate the 'insta-love' connection between the heroine and Dane; it felt slightly rushed and implausible in a book that already stretched the imagination. Otherwise, I had no major issues.

While yes, I can acknowledge there were some parts of the novel with unbelievable scenarios, these did not affect me- leading me to give 'The Final Hunt' a rating of 4 stars. It was a fast-paced and action-packed read, with nary a dull moment. Even though I wished there was more of a problem to guess or solve, the absence of these did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. There were no instances of foul language, making this suitable for older teenagers and upwards. Trigger warnings include: rape, murder, loss of a loved one, and attacks by wild animals- so if any of these will disturb you, this may not be the book for you. There were no sexual scenes or acts, so again, appropriate for teens 16 and older. There were some minor punctuation errors, but nothing to deter me from reading.

If you are looking for something fun to pass a few hours or days, which will not tax your brain much, this is definitely one you should pick up!

*A great many thanks to Netgalley, Audrey J. Cole, and BooksGoSocial for this ARC. It is important to note that I was under no commitment to provide a review, and all opinions are undoubtedly my own.*

Wow! This was a refreshing, engrossing read.

First, it starts with a captivating bang. A woman's author husband died after being attacked by bears. I mean, whoa! Second, Cameron is a likeable and relatable character. She's a strong woman with a past. She's also smart and logical and emotionally strong. I really liked her. Third, another bang when poor Cameron learns her husband was the area's prolific serial killer. And that fact brings up questions of his death--is he even dead? Now, I had guessed very early on who the culprit was and what was really going on but that didn't diminish the story at all for me, especially when Cameron puts one of her skills forth--the woman is a pilot! She flies over the incredibly beautiful landscape of Washington state while tackling her thoughts and emotions. It was a fun spin of characterization and a dazzling addition to the story in setting. But it doesn't end there. Cameron's suspicions and determination lead her to the wilderness of Alaska. There she rides snowmobiles through the frozen forests, ice fishes atop an icy lake, nearly dies in a confrontation with a moose, and howls with a pack of wolves.

Breath taking. Alluring. Thrilling. I absolutely loved this book.

Very much enjoyed this fast paced book ‘The final hunt’ by Audrey J Cole. I always enjoy twists and turns the book has to offer plus the suspense was there that kept me engaged in finishing.

I did like Cameron the main character, she could be a bit unpredictable and unliveable at times but I understood her as she’d lost her husband the man she loved but as well as found out stuff she never knew about him herself. She was realistic in that way and I felt the feelings with her.

Very engaging and fast paced with a good amount of suspense, a very good mystery thriller that I would recommend.

What would you do if you discovered your spouse is a notorious serial killer?

After Cameron’s husband John disappears and is believed killed in a bear attack while on a hunting trip, she finds photos linking him to a crime. Soon it is discovered he was linked to multiple murders over many years, the notorious “Teacher Killer.” The author did an excellent job of showing the impact her husband’s crimes had on Cameron, who loses not only her home, but also her successful dental practice. The invasive pressure of the news media was unrelenting.

But as time goes by, Cameron begins to worry John may not really be dead. Worse, the investigators are turning on her, believing she may have helped him. For the sake of other women out there who could fall victim to him, she goes up to Alaska, where there have been two recent murders and where she believes he may own property, and looks for him.

This was a quick, easy read with great pacing and vivid descriptions. I LOVED the Alaskan setting, the action scenes flying a plane in the wilderness and hiking in the snow, and enjoyed the characters. This was a straightforward read without curveballs, however I found the book absolutely enjoyable for what it was, a sharp, well-paced thriller with a unique setting. 5/5 stars.

Wow! Where to start!

At the beginning, Cameron is a widow, she lost her husband, John, to a bear attack in the wilderness. The only survivor is his buddy, Simon.

Cameron is having a hard time accepting her husband's death as no body has been found. In order, to escape from daily life, she heads out to the cabin she shared with her late husband John. Here she discovers horrific photos of women who are deceased. After the shock wears off, she hands them over to the police.

From here, everything explodes. She finds out her late husband was The Teacher Killer.

The Final Hunt becomes a cat and mouse thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Is Cameron an accomplice? Does she know her husband was a serial killer? Will she help the police clear her name, or will she go into hiding to keep a secret from her past from being revealed.

The Final Hunt is a fast paced thriller that kept me wanting more!

Everybody has secrets. Cameron appears to have the ideal life; a reliable career as a dentist, a large house in Seattle, a cabin up in the mountains, and an impenetrable marriage to the love of her life. After the death of her husband, Cameron is faced with the terrifying reality that not all was as it seemed. With her late husband now being accused of having been involved in a string of murders, Cameron is forced to take a closer look at the man she thought she knew. In order to unearth his secrets, she may need to face some of her own.

What a gripping read! From start to finish I was so engrossed with not only the plot, but the characters themselves. As the story progressed I found the plot flowed well with strong, descriptive writing, which made the book an overall quick read. The chapters were short, which enhanced the feeling of a “fast paced” story. The Alaskan setting was mesmerizing, the characters intriguing and the overall premise of the book interesting. Though I did find some plot points to be predictable, it was a phenomenal read.

I would definitely recommend this story to readers who enjoy pyschological/mystery/thrillers.

The Final Hunt is the latest thriller from Audrey J. Cole. Cameron's husband was killed by bears while out hunting...or was he? In this fast paced story Ms Cole takes the reader on a small plane and a snowmobile in the middle of an Alaska wilderness. Excellent page turner. I want to thank NetGalley and Books Go Social for an early copy to review.

The Final Hunt is a taut thriller and I loved it! This was an excellent thriller and well written. A suspenseful story set in an idyllic neighborhood initially with a grieving widow who a few months after her husband's death finds evidence that he is a prolific serial killer. Our MC Cameron has secrets of her own in her past and as her search leads her towards the truth she is again confronted with her past and the threat that she may be found complicit in her husband's crimes. As our MC reals from all the revelations she also has to wonder is John really dead.... This quest takes Cameron on a harrowing trek in the Alaskan wilderness and the realization she is ill suited with the skills needed for her pursuit.

Cameron undeterred doggedly persues her answers and possibly some new blossoming romance. I loved the twists, turns, and revelations along her journey. The book was an excellent read.

I received an ARC of The Final Hunt fir my honest review. #TheFinalHunt #NetGalley

This was a solid thriller and a new author for me, so I will be following her work. A suspenseful, atmospheric story set in the Alaskan wilderness (loved the wolf and snowmobile scenes). There was a nice twist, some romance, and a strong female lead character — basically, the perfect book to curl up with on a wintry day. I received an ARC of The Final Hunt and the opinions expressed are my own. #TheFinalHunt #NetGalley

When Cameron's husband John is killed by a bear, she thinks her grief will consume her. Spending time at his hunting cabin gives her the chance to drink too much wine, relive their time together, and look through old pictures. She has no idea that when she finds an SD card, her world will explode.
You see, it turns out John was more than just a husband, a lawyer, a pilot, and a hunter. In his spare time, he was also a serial killer, and she is holding the proof in her hands. She takes the evidence to the police, trying to do the right thing. But she is shocked when the media and all the people around her believe she must have known and maybe even helped him kill those poor women. Her financial picture is also much worse than she imagined. There is an awful lot of money missing and Cameron soon starts to believe that John faked his death.
Can she convince the police without exposing her sordid past? It seems unlikely so she heads to a remote part of Alaska determined to discover the truth I am not going to delve into the details of what she finds and risk spoilers, but the shocking conclusion was not at all what I imagined.
This was a quick read and for the most part, I enjoyed Cameron's journey. There was a relationship that developed while she was searching for John that didn't work for me, but overall, it was still a good mystery.

Questions to ponder....
What if you were married to a serial killer? Would you know it? Could he\she be so good at covering their double life that you would not have a clue? The Final Hunt by Audrey J Cole is about this exact situation.

Synopsis:
Cameron is grieving her husband John's death. John was recently killed in a hunting incident. Cameron goes to John's hunting cabin to feel close to him and mourn his death. While there, she finds gruesome "trophy" photographs John took posing with his deceased female victims. Cameron is devastated and turns the evidence over to the police. The community and media quickly become brutal to Cameron. They hint that Cameron could have been John's accomplice. How can one ever recover from this devastating situation? Your life would never be the same.

As crazy as it sounds, this scenario has actually happened. For example, BTK's family had no idea he was a serial killer. He was "THAT" good at living a duel lifestyle.

The Final Hunt is exceptionally interesting and well written. The ending had some tiny holes in it, but I still enjoyed the book. It is a solid 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ read. It will be published June 7th.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial, for allowing me to review this exciting new book. I appreciate your kindness. I look forward to reading more from Audrey J Cole.

Thanks to the publisher, author Audrey Cole, and NetGalley for the review copy. This was a pretty good book. The storyline was fairly predictable but it moved along quickly. I didn’t really like most of the characters, Valerie and Dane are the exceptions 😂. Definitely pick it up if you like quick thrillers with just a tent-tiny bit of romance.

I really liked the general storyline, it was a very interesting idea. But like others have said, it is not an edge of your seat thriller. It is very predictable. The Tok, Alaska part of the book was a stretch for me. She's there for a "trapping expedition" but has absolutely no idea about Alaskan wilderness, no survival skills, pretends not to know how to shoot a rifle, and had no camping or winter gear with her at all and no one called her out on it. If she was there to actually track someone down in the wilderness then why did she not come prepared for that either?

That being said, I did enjoy reading it and would love to read a part 2 if the story is ever continued.

The Final Hunt is a standalone mystery/thriller about a woman named Cameron, who finds out that her recently deceased husband John was a notorious serial killer called The Teacher Killer. Cameron tries to keep her image and life afloat after the news breaks out, but things don’t really add up and she starts to question whether John really died during his hunting trip or not.

This book grabbed me by the shoulders and yanked me in! I picked this book because I was looking for something to keep me on the edge of my seat. And boy did Audrey J. Cole deliver. I absolutely could not put this book down and I almost finished it in one sitting. If only it weren’t for that pesky night of sleep we all need. The book starts out by diving straight into the plot so it is very fast paced, hence the could not put down part. It takes you on a wild ride, and literally because Cameron ends up going through the Alaskan Wilderness, which was a very nice visual and I enjoyed reading about the scenery. The ending could have been guessed but I gave myself a variety of solutions that could have happened, and I was not disappointed with the outcome. The only reason I gave The Final Hunt 4 stars was due to the fact that so much happens back to back that I felt Cameron couldn’t have possibly done all that she did in the time frame that was given during the book. But did I enjoy it and would recommend it to someone? Absolutely! This was my first Audrey J. Cole novel and it will not be my last.

This was my first book by Audrey J Cole and I really enjoyed it. It was fast paced and I loved the setting in Alaska where it seems to be mighty cold!

Cameron, a dentist and pilot is grieving the loss of her husband when she finds evidence that he was a serial killer.

He is also missing and Cameron and a local detective Thomas are on the hunt.

This is a story that has everything with believable characters, good chase scenes, a few twists and vivid, cold descriptions.

Loved it, lying on a sunbed in Egypt.

The Final Hunt by Audrey J Cole is another high adrenaline thriller from an author who has very quickly become a must read for me. As with her previous offerings, I was propelled through the pages at full throttle, and remained firmly engaged throughout.

Cameron is a dentist who is grieving following the loss of her second husband, John, when she finds evidence of his true identity that will shock her to her very core. Losing everything, including her home and dental practice, because of her connection to an alleged serial killer, Cameron decides to travel to Alaska where she hopes to clear her name of any guilt by association once and for all. Risking her own life to exact a final revenge on John will be perilous and harrowing, and the atmospheric details will have you flying through the pages in breathless anticipation.

This was another fast-paced and compelling read from Ms Cole, and I cannot wait to see what she serves up next.

Many thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an ARC.

“All these years being married to John, she thought she’d been the one with a secret.”

While I usually love giving a fuller review, this particular book needs to be read ‘cold’. Giving you too much information would spoil what Cole has meticulously plotted. You are about to open a fantastically breathtaking, adventuresome, thrilling and captivating novel. I might venture to say it’s one of the best of its kind and Cole’s best novel to date! She’s certainly cemented herself as one of my auto-read authors.

You’ll love Cameron. She’s a determined woman who won’t sit back and let society pigeonhole her and she certainly won’t let her circumstances define her.

You’ll love the chase. Cole has brought the untamed Alaskan wilderness alive for her readers; snowmobiles, ice fishing, winter camping, traversing frozen lakes, desolate cabins, bears, wolves, and hunting.

You’ll love being a detective. Is John Prescott really dead? Is Cameron Prescott really who she says she is? What are they really hiding? Who else knows?

Go pre-order it. Buy it. Read it. Now. You won’t regret it.

I was gifted this advance copy by Audrey J Cole, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

What would you do if you found out your husband was a serial killer? Months after her husband’s supposed death, that’s exactly what Cameron is faced with. How is it possible she never knew any of this, never even suspected? And if she never knew about this, how can she be sure of anything about him…like is he really dead? Can she discover the truth?

A thoroughly engaging and fast-paced thriller, The Last Hunt will keep you flipping pages late into the night. And even though I figured out a number of things and saw some of the twists coming, that didn’t diminish my enjoyment any. After all a well told story is a well told story.

This book is set in the wilderness and is a thriller. My two favorite things all in one book. Cameron is grieving her husband’s death and soon finds out that he was harboring a secret. She has secrets of her own. When the blame comes to her she heads out in the dangerous Alaska wilderness to find out the truth. Despite figuring out the ending very early on in the book, I was hooked from the very beginning to the very end. Loved this book so much. Looking forward to reading others by this author.

I am a huge fan of Audrey J Cole and have read all her books. The Final Hunt is a good addition. The story was engaging from page one. I noticed that it got a bit tedious to read toward the end. I just wanted to get to the meaty part and felt it took a bit of time for that to develop. I liked all the characters, and they were developed well. A surprising ending for me.

I would recommend this book and this author. Can't wait for more stories!

How does it feel to find out your deceased husband, the man whom you loved and spent your life with, was a serial killer? Cameron faces the answer in Audrey J. Cole’s latest book, The Final Hunt.

The Final Hunt drew me in immediately, and although the main plot twist is easy to figure out early in the book, there are still many unsuspected, near fatal accidents, murders, and deceptions headed your way throughout the book.

This novel is set between the states of Washington and Alaska. I felt the book was well-researched, and I enjoyed learning a little about Alaska’s harsh terrain.

I literally couldn’t put this book down from the moment I picked it up. What would you do if your husband died - mauled by a bear on a hunting trip? Then. You find out he could be a much sought after serial killer. Would people believe that you had nothing to do with it? Would your life suffer? Your career? Your friends? Would they stay around? This book was so well written and while I had a good guess on how it would end it still had me wanting to read it all the way until the end with five stars. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it is very good. The story begins with a fatal hunting accident, and the building suspense gripped me until the end of this page-turner. I will definitely be reading more books by Ms. Cole. Recommended!

This was my first book by Audrey J Cole and I loved it! I loved the setting in Alaska and how fast paced this book was. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this book. This story switches between Cameron’s POV and Thomas (which is the main detective) POV. Cameron is grieving the loss of her husband and she finds some evidence that he was a serial killer. I was able to predict some parts of the ending, but there were definitely a few elements that I didn’t anticipate. And I really enjoyed that about the ending!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

Thank you Netgalley and BooksGoSocial Media for this advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked that it was somewhat of a police procedural, but it didn't focus the attention of the story on the investigation. I'm not a huge fan of police procedural novels, but this one was good.

Cameron's husband has just died in a horrible bear attack. While mourning his loss at his hunting cabin in Washington, she makes a very grim discovery and realizes that she didn't know her husband as well as she thought she did.

This is my first novel by Audrey J. Cole, but it won't be my last. This was a page turner that I finished in a day. I toggled between the print version and the audio version, which were both fantastic. I give this book 4 stars as it gripped me from the prologue. Very well written and very thrilling. Especially while listening to the audio version. I was on the edge of my seat a few times. Although I did predict one of the twists at the end, it didn't ruin the story for me.

Dentist Cameron is grieving the loss of her husband John who died three months earlier. According to accounts a bear attacked and killed him in the Alaskan wilderness. Her recent loss is compounded by the terrible discovery of compromising photographs of John. His friend and lawyer Simon digs a little deeper, as do the police. Of course there are secrets galore which add to the deliciously chilling atmosphere.

Written with quick short chapters, author Audrey Cole captivates with a rapid and thrilling pace and a wonderful isolated wilderness setting where there are hunters and there is prey, not all of which are animals. Not only is the pace compelling but books which focus well on few characters are incredibly appealing in my view. The epilogue and prologue are wonderful.

If you need a quick suspenseful escape, do read aptly-entitled The Final Hunt.

My sincere thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the privilege of reading this thrillery book!

I read “The Final Hunt” in one sitting yesterday! It’s been awhile since I sat down and did nothing but read one book for the afternoon. This was the perfect book to do that with too. It grabbed my attention in the first chapter and did not let up. It’s fast paced and you just keep wanting to know what else Cameron is going to find out about her husband after discovering he is a serial killer. Even though this book is set in the Alaskan wilderness, it is a great book to pack and read on the beach this summer!

Thank you @netgalley and @booksgosocialgroup for allowing me to read this book ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

A fast paced, action packed thriller with interesting characters. Plenty of surprises kept me guessing until the end. I figured some of it out but it didn't take anything away from the story. I will definitely read this author again.

Audrey J. Cole knows how to write a edge of your seat thriller. There were times I found myself holding my breath because the scene was just so intense and suspenseful. It’s a thought provoking book. I found myself at the end if justice was served. It’s one of those moral questions you find asking yourself. This was a great book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

This was a mystery, it was an adventure and it had a little romance. It also had the wilds of Alaska - so count me in.
A woman - Cameron - finds out that her husband John was a serial killer. John supposedly died in a bear attack when he was at his hunting cabin. The police think Cameron may have known about her husbands activities and may have even been an accomplice. Cameron thinks her husband is still alive, and goes searching - in the wilds of Alaska.

This is told from different points of view - Cameron and the police. I am always a sucker for stories told in this manner. I feel as if it gives the story more depth.

This was a quick, easy, fun read. I knew who the accomplice was from the start and you will too. I knew what would happen at the end - and you will guess too. But who cares? It was still a fun, engaging book. And there were certainly a few things I did NOT see coming. Plus, I don't know about you, but the trend of giving us the sudden unexpected endings is getting old to me. Instead of trying to surprise us - just tell us a good story.

I want to thank the author, the publisher and #netgalley for the ARC which did not impact my review. 3.5 stars rounded to 4. It was above average, but not a WOW.

It's no secret that I love a good serial killer thriller, and I admit that I was sold as soon as I read the blurb of The Final Hunt. I mean, how could I say no to a story about a missing-presumed dead serial killer and a wife who has to deal with the aftermath of the news that her husband was in fact a killer? Add a dose of secrets and I was more than ready to dive in. I'm glad I decided to give The Final Hunt a go, because it ended up being a very entertaining, fast-paced and suspenseful thriller!

This story is all about remote locations and survival, or at least those settings play a big role in the plot itself. The Final Hunt starts with the scene of John's disappearance and presumed death, and I was immediately intrigued. Things soon heated up when Cameron finds some very disturbing photos of her late husband... Photos that will change her life forever and that will have the press haunting her while everyone seems to judge and find her guilty by association. It was intriguing to see Cameron's character deal with the difficult situation and I liked how she never wanted to give up and decided to take matters into her own hands instead.

The Final Hunt is a bit of a mix of a psychological, serial killer/crime and survival thriller and I liked how the different subgenres complemented each other here. I loved the descriptions of the remote locations with the focus on both its beauty and danger, and especially the part set in Alaska made for some very engaging reading. And while I did see some of the plot twists coming (including the identity of the accomplice), as a whole I didn't mind too much as I was too busy turning those pages. I literally flew through this story! All in all without doubt a very successful thriller and I can't wait to read more of her work.

This is the first book I ever read writen by this author and let me tell you I really enjoyed it. This was such and amazing story with crazy turn of the events and so eye opening in a way that you realize, that some people you are close to you might not know them completely.

The premis if the story was interesting, but it got even more interesting when the main character went to Alaska on the hunt to find her husband. And the ending was *chefs kiss*.

Everyone has secrets, some are deadly. Cameron is mourning the death of her husband John who was killed in a bear attack. She was mourning until she finds pictures, and all of a sudden, she realizes that she never knew John. He was a serial killer, but Cameron is starting to question if he is really dead. With clues picked up along the way, she sets out into the Alaskan wilderness to hunt.
Fast paced, unexpected ending … keeps you turning pages the whole time. And I know for sure that I don’t want to winter camp, yes I would have concerns about building a fire on the ice ….
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an early read in exchange for my opinion.

A lovely thriller to sink my teeth into (wink wink)!

This was right up my alley - serial killer, Alaskan wilderness, log cabins- I love it all!

The story was easy to follow, I devoured the book in one day, I just could not put it down. I loved the atmosphere it created!

The characters were relatable, the storyline full of all kinds of different turns and overall - a very enjoyable book.
I would not call it an edge-of-the-seat thriller, but it was great in its own way.

I guessed the accomplice very early on, but that did not take away from the enjoyment of reading.

Overall, strong 4 stars. Read during the UK heatwave 2022, so this book was great to cool me down :)

Thank you,NetGalley for the ARC!

A well written, fast paced and highly entertaining thriller that had me hooked from the first chapter. Even though I figured it all out early on, I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting. The story begins with a bear attack in which Cameron's husband is killed. She quickly discovers he is a serial killer but things aren't adding up about his death and she begins her own investigation. Cameron is tough and has went through a lot in her life. I really liked her but my favorite character was the police detective, Mulholland. Nothing gets past him and I hope to see him in future books which I will definitely be reading.

This was a brilliant read. So much so that I read it last night in one sitting. I loved that the story started after the serial killings had been done and after the perpetrator had been caught. It was really interesting how the ones left behind deal with the situation as well as how they get their revenge.

I really enjoyed The Final Hunt by Audrey J. Cole. In this story, Cameron discovers that her deceased husband Jonh was actually a serial killer! Yikes! After turning in evidence to the police, Cameron's life takes a nosedive and she loses her home as well as her successful business. As time goes on, Cameron starts to wonder if John really did die in that bear attack, since his body was never recovered.
This was a fast paced book and I really enjoyed it! A first for me from this author but I will definitely be seeking out more books by Audrey J. Cole!

Could she really have been married to the notorious teacher serial killer? She could not believe it; from a wife beater to a serial killer? Thankfully they suspected he was dead, mauled by animals in Alaska.

Cameron is a dentist with a thriving practice in Seattle. She is well known to a thirty-year detective called Tanner Mulholland. Now she is without a husband. The papers are saying that she is suspected of being complicit in John’s lifetime killing spree. Her dental clients canceled their appointments in droves and she discovers John had taken loans out against their home.

The author writes a very intricate and believable story. The obstacles faced by the protagonist are often daunting. Set in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, the settings become believable and spectacular. The distances traveled and the obstacles encountered are hard to believe. Enjoy the narrative and encounter nearly impossible odds with this intrepid heroine. 4.5 stars – CE Williams

What would you do if you found out your husband was a serial killer? How did you not know? This was my first book by Ms Cole but it definitely won’t be my last! I stayed up all night reading this one. The action and story line were great. I really appreciated that I found it believable. I mean it seems ridiculous that your husband can be a serial killer and you not know but somehow this mad a great believable novel that was really enjoyable. Thank you for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a very surprising read and thoroughly enjoyable.
We follow Cameron as she is coming to terms with losing her husband following a bear attack whilst hunting with his friend. But it turns out not all is as it seems and that Cameron may not have really known who her husband is after all . ..
This book really had everything in it - suspense, intrigue, action and even a little bit of romance. I wasn't expecting to be as hooked as I was yet I found myself just wanting to read one more chapter and then one more chapter. It was very well written and the writing just flowed so well; this combined with the shorter chapters and extremely addictive and enjoyable plot really made this story hard to put down. We got to see this story told mainly from the POV of Cameron, but we also got some chapters from the lead detective in the story, Tanner which added another dimension to the story.

There were a few bits that were a little bit sketchy - like how did Cameron learn so quickly how to survive in the cold wilderness? seemed a bit unrealistic but it didn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the story.
I'd definitely recommend picking this up if you're looking for a new addictive thriller to read! Oh and the ending was also brilliant, I thought it really wrapped everything together.

This was my first read by Audrey Cole and it won’t be my last. Cameron’s husband goes missing while on a hunting trip. Shortly after, it’s discovered that her husband was responsible for multiple murders in Seattle. Not only does Cameron lose her husband, but she also loses her career and is about to lose her home. Now Cameron is on a quest to find out what else was John hiding from her and if he really is dead.

Cole did a great job building the suspense and keeping the reader wondering what will happen to Cameron. Despite having a good idea of what was going to happen, I found myself rooting for her as I kept turning the pages to find out if I was right. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good suspenseful book.

The Final Hunt is the story of Cameron and her hunt for the truth. Cameron's husband died in a bear attack while hunting three months ago. She stumbles upon some photos that show her husband was a serial killer responsible for multiple murders in the Seattle area. After showing the police these photos she unfortunately finds her self in hot water as they think she is an accomplice. After losing her dental practice and on the brink of losing her home Cameron sets off on a journey to the Alaskan wilderness to get some answers. Is it possible her husband isn't dead? The first part of the book was a little slow and took a bit to get into, but once it got going it was hard to put this book down. I had to know how it was going to end.

wow that was a great thriller!
felt ice cold and full of action. no dull moment throughout. i clicked with the MC and was instantly gripped by her journey.
what stood out to me was the mix of inner monologue and still keeping the pace of outside action at a great speed so you do not really want to put the book down.

I devoured this husband and wife cat and mouse chase! The story was fast-paced and had well-timed twists. I enjoyed the characters, especially Cameron, a grieving widow determined to bring her husband to justice. Some events required you to suspend belief and/or rely heavily on coincidence, but I didn’t mind because I was along for the ride!

The Final Hunt more than satisfied my need for an easy, quick, and entertaining read!

Cameron’s husband was killed by a bear. She goes to the cabin in the remote woods to feel close to him. She discovers disturbing things about her husband and uncovers more than she intended to. The setting is remote and off the grid, which can feel claustrophobic, despite all the open land. There are plenty of twists and confusion that keep the reader guessing!

Thank you BooksGoSocial and Audrey J Cole for this read!

I have got to say I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I absolutely love plots like this, it kept me hooked the whole time and right up until the very last moment!

It had some great suspense, the twists although not unpredictable were still good and I loved a strong protagonist.

Overall a great first read for me from the author and I look forward to more of their books

3.5/5

Cameron Prescott's husband John disappeared while hunting, presumed dead from a bear attack. She finds evidence in his cabin in northern Washington State implicating him in a series of murders by a perpetrator known as "The Teacher Killer". Because of all the media attention and questions about her role in the murders, Cameron's reputation is destroyed. She has to close her dental practice and is on the brink of losing her home.

I found this book easy to read and the pages flew by. Cameron is a strong female character but there was something about her that niggled at the back of my mind, especially as more and more was revealed about her back story. I can't pin it down so maybe the second book will clarify what's bothering me. This was an enjoyable book but you need to take it with a grain of salt and don't overthink it. For the second time in as many books, a little romance gets tossed into the mix. Totally unnecessary in my opinion. Despite my misgivings I give this 3.5 Stars rounded up!

My thanks for an ARC of this novel and apologies for the late review to BooksGoSocial via Netgalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
