Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange of honest feedback. I really liked the cover! It's really cute. I don't know anything at all about cooking with whey, so I am approaching this book with a completely open mind. This book is separated into sections such as "There's a lot to learn about whey" and "recipes (beverages, cocktails, bread, savories, sweets)."
The layout of the book is modern and easy to read. There are cute fonts & infographics that convey information effectively. I REALLY loved the color scheme of the book as well, it all flows together well from a visual perspective. The recipes are varied. A lot of different types of foods/inspirations are represented in the recipe collections. Even more to the point, the ingredients are pretty common & the instructions are clear. I think that even if you don't know much about whey (like me), you can follow the recipes & find something of value from these collections. If you are familiar with cooking with whey, then there are plenty of examples that could keep you making new things all the time.
I did not know that you could do so much with whey. We are always told “waste not, want not,” but oftentimes due to a lack of resources, we do not know how not to waste. This cookbook shows how the different types of whey can be made into a multitude of different recipes, not only as food, but in many other aspects of life. This book is a treat and I look forward to buying myself a physical copy.
I make my own yogurt but have never cooked with the whey from it before and would love to start now. This book is full of appetizing, inventive recipes and I can't wait to make more of them! My household strives to be a low-waste household, and using the whey from our yogurt-making is just another way we can reduce the waste we produce and make delicious food. I would also purchase the illustrated food art in this book if it were available as prints -- the book is beautiful. I received an e-arc of this book through Netgalley.
What a great book! I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the wonderful characters along the way. Written really well and kept me up reading half the book! I highly recommend this book!! Thank you for letting me review
I have to be honest here. English is not my first language and I translated whey wrong when I asked to review this book. I thought when meant protein powder and thus I was thoroughly surprised when there wasn’t a single mention of powder. At all! But I still read the entire thing. The author did a wonderful job explaining everything, so I knew pretty fast what whey really is.
I have to say that this is a very special niche book. And I love that. If you want to know how to work with Whey, this book is for you. I was honestly so impressed by everything. This book was such an interesting read! It was lovely written and the artwork is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. One of the more beautiful cookbooks I’ve seen.
Sadly, I have no opportunity to cook with whey, and cannot review the recipes. Sorry for that!
Thank you for netgalley who provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
