Thanks to booksgosocial and netgalley for the copy to read and review.

To young Ellery’s her bicycle is more than just a bicycle it’s magic and she takes it on many adventures, growing up with it and it magically grows with her. Her bicycle was her comfort and her best friend and they did everything together.

As she grew into an adult and had forgotten all about her bicycle it sat in waiting hoping she would be back one day and the magic of her old best friend can be rekindled.

I loved how sweet this story was, how she formed a deep connection with her bicycle and how magical it all was to her. It had beautiful illustrations and was written so sweetly, telling this wonderfully magic story.

Can a bicycle ever be more than what it appears? One day, a young girl named Ellery is exploring the nearby landscape when she stumbles upon an abandoned purple bicycle. The bicycle unexpectedly communicates with Ellery, and the two invite one another into their lives. Every day, the newfound companions spend time together, teaching one another the importance of friendship and support through their shared experiences. True to the magic within, the bicycle grows and shifts along with Ellery, but when it becomes forgotten in Ellery’s shed, the bicycle wonders whether it will ever again be the friend it once was. Many children believe in the anthropomorphic nature of their prized possessions, whether it is a teddy bear, a blanket, or in this case, a bicycle. Ellery’s story is one that, while requiring a suspension of disbelief in the bicycle’s transformations, lovingly captures the profound love a child can have for a special plaything. Limited text is used to tell Ellery’s story, leaving ample opportunity for discussion and contemplation to fill in what happens as time passes. Cheerful colors adorn the illustrations, which comprise the majority of each page and help connect younger readers to Ellery’s story. Because the narrative stretches over more than one decade of time, the images are often used to depict the changing of seasons or the progression of years. Children and adults alike will appreciate the nostalgic sentiments present in this book, and reading it together will no doubt inspire conversation about treasured keepsakes of one’s own. This is a charming addition to bedtime storytime collections for families with young children.

This is a simple but charming and uplifting read about Ellery, whose most trusty companion over the years is her magic bicycle. But as the years pass by and she grows up, the less time she spends on her bike.

I thought the prose was just okay. The story felt disjointed at some parts, almost like it could do with an extra page or two in between some scenes. However, I loved the themes of friendship as well as the gorgeous illustrations and soft colour palette.

I also find myself thinking about what I might have neglected and forgotten over the years. This is a very nostalgic read that many will appreciate.

Ellery's Magic Bicycle by Maria Monte is an emotional children's picture book that will teach kids about kindness and friendship. When I saw that the description compared this book to The Giving Tree, I knew that I had to read it right away! The story revolves around a little girl and her magic bicycle. As she grows up, the bicycle tries to change to fit her needs, but will it eventually become forgotten and thrown away?

Overall, Ellery's Magic Bicycle is a lovely children's picture book that will definitely appeal to fans of The Giving Tree. One highlight of this book is how it deals with sadness and loss. Rather than shying away from these negative topics, as many other children's picture books do, this book isn't afraid to deal with those topics and teach kids how to deal with them, also. The ending is definitely a happily-ever-after though. If you're intrigued by the description, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in May!

Ellery’s Magic Bicycle by Maria Monte and illustrated by Zoe Saunders is a beautiful story of a girl and her bond with her bicycle. If you are looking for a short graphic story to tell your kids, then this book serves the purpose. I have a 5 year old boy and, I am definitely going to read this one out.

The book, definitely, deserves 5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for providing me an opportunity to read and review the book.

This book was very reminiscent of the Giving Tree, as it showed a child's growth and how the bicycle grew along with her. There was some sadness, but it was redeemed in the end. Very simple but pretty illustrations.
Lots of opportunities to make fun sounds of the bicycle while reading aloud.

One day Ellery finds a bicycle, and to her wonder this bicycle is magical, it grows with Ellery, and to some point, it gives reason to Ellery life. It is a cute story, perfect for children from early age to kids who are starting to read alone.
Has bright colours and nice drawings I highly recommend this story to everyone.

The book was a poignant story of a girl and her bicycle. This magic bicycle wasn’t ordinary, it had magic powers it would play the games she wanted. It would take her on many travels throughout the countryside. They had a special friendship that allowed for one more, you have to read the rest for yourself. The story moved me to wane nostalgic and made me cry for what was. Young children can read and relate to the story and brought a tear for I had a bicycle bthst I would ride for hours all over our small townYes I will be recommending this book and will buy when my granddaughter is older, thanks to NetGalley,Marla Monte and #Ellery’sMagicBicycle for the opportunity to read early.

Ellery's Magic Bicycle is a cute story geared to 4-7 year old children.
I read this book to two children aged four and five.
They both loved the idea that the bicycle could grow along with Ellery.
One favorite part was when Ellery was grow up and had her own baby. The other one liked that Ellery was still riding the bike as an adult.
The book also deals with some serious matters too, such as a friend moving away and older toys being neglected as children grow older. A sweet and happy ending finishes the book off perfectly.

Thanks to netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the arc.

I was drawn to this book based on the title of the story and the beautiful cover illustration. It is a simple story about a young girl who finds a magical bicycle. The bicycle becomes her friend and it stays with her through the good and bad as she grows up. I enjoyed the simplicity of the story yet wish there was more of a transition between Ellery getting older and then suddenly being married with a child. Maybe the bike could move with her to her new house and then be happy to have them all together again, before the page where the baby arrives?

The magic of the bicycle is very simple and lends to the personification of the bike. It also allows for a good classroom conversation about identifying the elements of the story that show that the bike is magic. This story could also be used in a lower elementary classroom as the lead in to a creative writing assignment. Students could write about things they would do if they had a magic bike or other magical inanimate object.

The illustrations were beautifully done and complimented the story perfectly.

Thank you to #NetGalley and to #MariaMonte for an ARC of her book #Ellery’sMagicBicycle . The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. 3.5 stars, rounded to 4

Ellery finds a purple bicycle which turns out to be a magic bicycle.
The bicycle becomes her companion, but as she grows older she forgets about the bicycle but she is reunited with it later in life.
This is a joyful book with wonderful illustrations.

Young Ellory comes across a magical bicycle, one that teaches her to ride and protects her from mean children- all she has to do is ask. Through all their adventures together, they develop a special bond but it's difficult to maintain that as she grows older. So what will happen when Ellery no longer remembers her magical bike?

This is a truly whimsical story of a fun and adventurous little girl that, through its simplicity, cannot help but be endearing. The large and full-page illustrations throughout are bright and clear, especially with the facial expressions. The text is easy-to-read and well-spaced.

It would be ideal as a class read-aloud text or to prompt a unit of work.

The topic and writing style make this ideal for reading to four to seven-year-olds. From the vocabulary used and how much of it is phonetically decodable, a child would be about seven years old to read this independently or with minimal support.

About a friendship, love, loss and magic

"Ellery's Magic Bicycle" is a lovely adventure tale. Ellery experienced many great adventures with her bicycle. They celebrate friendship together but also mourn losses together. With Ellery, the wheel also grows. Ellery becomes an adult. Then she gradually forgets about her bike. Until she stops using it. Will Ellery remember the wheel in time before it loses its magic?

Beautiful, colourful illustrations are included in the book. These always create, e.g., different seasons and natural scenes, in addition to Ellery's growing up. The story is beautifully told. She has a strong bond with her bike, with which she has many adventures. Aside from that, it's about true friendship, loss, and love. And then there's the magic.

It's a lovely and magical short story.

Ellery's Magic Bicycle is a beautifully illustrated book with a tender and touching story.
I read this to the 4 and 6 year old boys that I nanny and they both enjoyed it. The illustrations immediately grabbed the 4 year olds attention while the 6 year old listened intently waiting to hear what was going to happen next. When it was over we were able to have a great engaging conversation about how the book made them feel. The 4 year old was very interested in the magical aspects of the story whereas the 6 year felt more of the emotions of the story. I enjoyed the story just as much as they did!
The illustrations are bright and complement the story perfectly. There is just the right amount of text on each page to keep the children's attention while they delight in the illustrations.
I would highly recommend this endearing picture book for ages 4 to 9. It is a wonderful read-aloud book that leaves a smile on everyone's face.
I am grateful to Netgalley and Books Go Social for the opportunity to read an ARC of this wonderful book in exchange for a honest review.

I adore books with a happy-ever-after ending! One day Ellery stumbles upon an old purple bicycle and decides to take it home. She never thinks for a moment that the worn out old bike has now found its forever home.

It turns out that the decrepit two-wheeler has magical powers and can restore itself to its original beauty and functionality. It heals itself from the dust, rust, cobwebs and dints and renews itself with new invigorating life. It's ready to take Ellery on exciting new adventures. Ellery is overjoyed and knows she is in the possession of something very, very special. The duo become inseparable and each covet the time that they spend together.

As Ellery grows, magically so does her bike. A new boy named Charlie moves in next door and Ellery's bike is instrumental in bringing the two into a long lasting friendship.

As time goes on Charlie and his family move away and Ellery's bicycle becomes neglected. She stores it away in her shed and it collects dust, cobwebs and rust once again as a result.

Oh my! That's not the end of the story is it? I did tell you that the book has a happy ending didn't I? Please rest assured that indeed it does but you will have to read the book to find out how Ellery's purple bike regains its owner's attention and renews their friendship once again.

This charming story will be one that kids will return to often to read, share and enjoy. The illustrations are gorgeous. They include lots of detail, a lovely soft colour pallet and lots of emotion and heart. I highly recommend this book.

Ellery's Magic Bicycle was an awesome surprise for usually a picture book only addresses a short period of time of the main character. This is a very wholesome story and can be approached by educators and libraries in different ways.
Very whimsical. Ellery finds a magical bicycle that will help her many times. The art is very endearing. We all have that special object that becomes our friend and protector. Even as an adult I relate to this story. I love the full pages illustrated with such a serene and peaceful art style.

This was such an adorable book that children are going to love reading, it's so important to remember the things that used to bring us joy as a child can be equally important as an adult. There are many things that we can love and then pass down to younger generations if we make sure to remember to care for them properly. This book touches on friendships, giving people a chance, making amends and lasting relationships. A wonderful read for any child.

Pass the tissues, I have not cried this hard since reading "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" if I could give this book 10 stars I would. In my opinion, this should be required reading to all lit students, Often the hardest to write is when the fewer words are used. Maria Monte tells a very short story through very poigant words and Zoe Sanders tells the same story through her amazing artwork.
"Suddenly, it sprung up and -thwack-shook off the mud" dosen't this this tell a huge story in few words. The picture book follows Ellery through her life journey alongside a magically purple bicycle. In addition, we meet Charlie, a much younger boy and they become fast friends. Of course, the bicycle teaches Charlie how to ride a bike and the three become fast friends. A perfect book for any reader, i recommend sitting with a child and reading this book.
Thank you Maria Monte, Zoe Sanders, Bonny Books, and NetGalley.

This picture book tells the story of an anthropomorphic bicycle who is magical and is very loved by its owner. As Ellery ages the bike comes with her, until she gets to be an adult and the bike ends up neglected in storage. Readers will feel for the lonely bike and hope for Ellery to remember it and ride it again. It also reminds us that just because there might be a new version of something (ex. the latest iphone) it does not mean that items we have loved and cherished need to be tossed out.

I think this is a fun and interesting picture book that will be loved by children. I could see this book in classroom libraries and homes of children in the 4-8 age range. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This is a sweet, sad story about a girl who finds a purple bike. Ellery takes her bike everywhere she goes and they have the best adventures. Turns out her bike is magical too! But as Ellery grows older, she no longer needs her bike and so it sits in the garage. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy.

Ellery is a little girl who comes across an enchanted purple bicycle. The bicycle grows with her, sprouts a decorated floral basket, and even softens when she needs to lean against it. Ellery is a daredevil with the bike in her teenage years, but eventually she abandons it to the shed as an adult where it collects cobwebs.

This story definitely gave me The Giving Tree vibes. My 4 year old twin girls and I loved how at the end, Ellery gets back on her bike to go on a bike ride with her young daughter.

Ellery's Magic Bicycle is a story about growing up and growing with the things we love the most. Through this story we see a young child, Ellery, find a beautiful pink bicycle. She rides this bike all through her childhood and adolescence, when a time comes where the poor bicycle is left to get dusty in the garage. Eventually Ellery returns to it in her older years, unable to part with it..

This was a cute story about something a lot of adults can relate to, and a lot of kids will be experiencing in their own coming of age. I love books like this that show how certain objects don't need to, or deserve to be, "one time use". Some things will last us our whole lives, or most of them at least.

The illustrations were cute, and the text was easy to read. I'd recommend this to anyone with young kids.

Childhood bicycles are a vessel of magic, and “Ellery’s Magic Bicycle” spoke to my heart because I, too, had a magic bike. I gave my bike a name, and it became one of my best friends. It took me out on extraordinary adventures; it turned into unicorns and dragons; it let me be brave, competitive and curious.
The story about Ellery finding her magical bike and sharing a life of adventures with it is such a relatable narrative that reminded me so much of my own childhood. I wish every single child could have the experience of a magic bike.
I recommend this book to all children - young and old - and adults who still remember; to see just a glimpse of what is possible and to make their hearts soar with tenderness and excitement.
As this is an ARC, I would like some little things to be reviewed by the editor and author, but the story itself is excellent.

Who did not have a special bond with their bike growing up? I know for me my bike was my lifeline and it felt like an extension of me. Ellery's Magic Bicycle by Maria Monte touched such a wonderful ring of the charming bond a child can have with their bike.

For Ellery her bike is magical. Where it moves in excitement and can change through the years as Ellery gets older as she grows. Two of my favorite parts were when she made daisy chains and decorated her bicycle and when her friend Charlie gave her a beautiful basket as a gift for her and her bicycle. I just adored this book and the ending has a happy twist where the bicycle love carries on to the next generation.

Simplistic, charming, and children will adore this book. The illustrations by Zoe Saunders are lovely. Fantastic for any collection.

I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher Bonny book for the opportunity to read and review this lovely book.

A very cute picture book about a girl and her magical bicycle. The pictures show the young girl finding the neglected magical bicycle. With a little love, it comes to life and they enjoy many good years together. Eventually the girl makes a new friend, and he also spends time with the girl and bike. When he moves, the bike is there to comfort her. As she grows however, she soon leaves the bike along for more grown up things, and it gets neglected once more, with spiderwebs on the handle bars. The girl marries, has a girl of her own. She is almost ready to throw the bike away, when she remembers all the great times they had.. She now goes on bike rides with her daughter, and the love restores the bike back to perfect. I loved the pictures of the basket on the handlebars...the more love the bike is given, the more flowers appear on it. Eventually, there are none. Burt at the end of the book, it is over flowing with flowers once more.

This is a very cute children's book about Ellery's relationship and adventures with her magic bike. The story and pictures are quite well done, and it will surely be a book children ask you to read "again, please!". It reminded me a bit of the children's classic The Giving Tree as each depicts the changes in the relationship as the child grows.

When Ellery and Charlie become adults, life steps between them and the bicycle. But Ellery and Charlie marry and have a child. They live in her childhood home and discover the bicycle again. As they are cleaning the shed, they discover the bicycle again. When the junk man comes to pick thing up, Ellery has a choice to make.

I read this with my daughter, and we absolutely loved it! It was poignant and will make you think about it even after you read it.

Ahhhh! This is the magic of picture books. Even though I'm an adult now, it still had a large impact on me. And to think that it was only a few pages!

It rings true in that sometimes when we grow up, we no longer have that much time with our friends and the things we used to love to do because we have responsibilities and tasks to do that take up much of our time.

The illustrations are beautiful and soft and kept the same tone as the story.

The story kind of reminded us of The Giving Tree in a way.

Highly recommend this to children and adults! Definitely tugged at my heartstrings!

There is something about your first bike. Do you remember getting your first bike and feeling the independence that comes with riding down the road, the wind blowing in your hair. The confidence you felt. There is something magical about having a bicycle. Ellery bike was a special bike that was gifted to her and stayed with her until she had a little girl of her own. A special story about Ellery's special relationship with her bike. Asking for adventure until her bike was forgotten and remembered when her childhood came back thru her own daughter.

A heartwarming story of a magic bicycle, discovered by a girl when she is very little, that teaches her to ride and them accompanies her through the various stages of her growing up, only to be disconnected for a period and then reunited once again. There is something that attracts me to stories such as this where an inanimate object is portrayed as the central character of a story through its interactions with other characters, and I think the longevity over a long period of time of the bicycle in this story is a positive and reassiuring lesson to children at a time when possessions are mostly regarded as a little more throw-away. The illustrations were fun and charming, and a perfect complement to the story. Very enjoyable read for all ages!

When a children's book can make you go through a rollercoaster of emotions- you know it's a good one. HOLY CAMOLY did Ellery's Magic Bicycle have me up and down those hills as if I were ON the bike myself!

What a heart (warming AND wrenching) tale this was...from the moment Ellery bonded with her bicycle, to the moment I was in tears and thinking- ELLERY YOU CANNOT DO THAT, NOOO!! (If you know, you know). The artwork was lovely and cozy, it added to my enjoyment of the read immensely.
This magical friendship between Ellery and her bicycle was not only up-lifting and hopeful, it was relatable. I had a stuffed animal named 'Kitty' when I was younger that did exactly what the purple bicycle did for Ellery- made me feel safe, happy, and feel like I could take on the world (but Kitty wasn't magical, unfortunately!)
We need more stories like this- imaginative, creative and wholesome. Not everything has to be realistic and real to help us learn, or for us to enjoy it. There is beauty in simplicity, believing that magic exists (without questioning it) and Maria hit a home run with this one.

A thousand-gazillion stars for Ellery's Magic Bicycle- PERFECTION. I don't have any kiddos but I want to re-read this because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside- and don't we all want some of that feeling these days?

Ellerys Magic Bicycle is an heartwarming story about Ellery who finds an old abandoned bicycle and takes it home. Ellery and the bike are inseparable and grow together until Ellery makes her own family. The bicycle is put away and forgotten about until one day years later when Elkery is tasked with the choice to give the bike away or keep it.
This book was such a wonderful read and really got to my heartstrings. This reminds me so much of my childhood where I would go off for the day on my own beloved bike on many adventures. The illustrations are lovely and I loved the ending.
