Love Spanish food and tapas and looking forward to trying these recipes. Thanks for sharing. one suggestion would be to. add where we might be able to get some of the more unusual ingredients and spices.
About 15 years ago I watched a show with Gwyneth Paltrow where she traveled Spain. It stuck with me so when I saw this book I had to read it!
This book is like taking a trip to Spain without a passport! The recipes are wonderfully written and the pictures are beautiful. I cannot wait to make all the meal plans included in the back of the book.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. I love how easy the recipes look! I love that the recipes don't need a lot of ingredients. Can't wait to try some!
A beautiful collection of Spanish recipes. I liked that I could instantly make some of these recipes just from what I would normally have on hand. The ingredients are not unusual or terribly expensive, except of course saffron, but it's worth it for a good paella. The pictures are likewise appealing and the instructions clear. I look forward to making many of these recipes. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC for review.
After reading and loving Italian Cooking for Beginners, from the same publisher, I knew I had to grab this cookbook as well.
Unlike Italian cooking, I've never cooked Spanish food, but I love Spanish food, even having been to Spain.
I've always been intimidated by Spanish recipes because there are so many ingredients, and everything seems time consuming and dauting. This cookbook breaks recipes down and helps make those daunting recipes much easier, but still tasty. I'm looking forward to trying a paella recipe that won't take me all day to make!
This cookbook is colorful, with pictures not only of the food, but Spain itself. All the recipes have a history, so you learn about the food you're going to cook. Each recipe also has tips and tricks for helpfuly cooking and substitutions.
The only negatives I have were not all recipes had pictures, so you don't know what the finished product is supposed to look like, and I wish there had been a level of difficulty and amount of time each recipe should take.
Overall, if you're a fan of Spanish food, this is a great cookbook for those like me, who were too intimidated before.

This is a fantastic cookbook for people interested in learning about Spanish cuisine! All of the tapas recipes are so delicious and relatively simple to make.
I really like Spanish food, but have never made it before, so when I saw the title of this book, I knew I needed to read it! Each recipe has clear step by step instructions to guide you through, and most have accompanying photographs. There’s a wide range of recipes to suit all tastes, and the additional section to write your own recipes / notes at the back is a great touch. Proper authentic Spanish food, presented in a simple way - what more could you want?

I love cooking all kinds of different cuisines! So this cookbook was perfect for me. All the recipes sound absolutely delicious. The instructions are very clear, and easy to follow. I enjoyed the photos and descriptions of everything as well! Cannot wsit to try out some of these recipes.
YUM! This book is filled with everything you in order to make great Spanish food. It is fresh, it is classic, it is real food and it is delicious. And the recipes are easy to follow and easy to make.
The photos are great and make you fell hungry and ready to get in the kitchen and start cooking.
Loving this book and looking forward to cooking all the recipes soon. And I would recommend this book not just for beginners but for everyone who wants to try something new and tasty. The ingredients are simple, everyday ingredients, fresh and you don't have to hunt down strange bits and pieces you have never heard of which is great too,
More cooking is on the cards and I can't wait to work my way through the recipes in this lovely book.
While many think Spanish and Mexican cooking are the same, they aren’t; in fact they are totally different. Both are delicious, but Spanish cooking does not include the spicy chili-laden dishes that most of us are familiar with. For those who want to learn about and create authentic Spanish dishes, Spanish Cooking for Beginners: Simple and Delicious Recipes for All Occasions is a great place to start. This cookbook presents famous dishes such as Paella, as well as several varieties of tapas. There are also several mouthwatering recipes utilizing the best ingredients of Spain.
The recipes are written in standard form and are easy to follow. No matter what the cooking skill level, cooks will be able to create picture-perfect dishes. There are also beautiful photographs of almost every recipe, and just perusing this cookbook will make readers very hungry. There are also colorful illustrations that make the book fun.
If there is a negative to this cookbook it is that it doesn’t have enough recipes. There are only a few in each chapter, and readers and cooks will surely want more. Most of the recipes are fairly quick and definitely easy. They call for standard ingredients that are available at most mainline grocery stores. Many of the dishes call for Spanish paprika, which is one of the most used ingredients, as well as olive oil that is a mainstay in every Spanish home.
Anyone interested in learning about Spanish cooking will find this a good beginning. The recipes are definitely appealing, and the prose is well-written and informative.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
For Lovers of Spanish Food
Gabriela Llamas is a chef, teacher, caterer, author, and food promoter and presents her book "Spanish Cooking for Beginners. Simple and Delicious Recipes for All Occasions." It is one of the "... Cooking for Beginners" series, published by Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry (New Shoe Press). The book is divided into four sections: 1) Tapas and Pinchos, 2) Meat and Fish, 3) Vegetables and Salads, and 4) May Your Life be Sweet. Llamas gives and introduction to each section and states about the recipes: "Many of the recipes you will find in this book are a tale, a myth, a discovery, and an adventure. They are a return to our fascinating origins which today we can still enjoy with our senses and which we want to share with you" (p. 12).
The book is presented with a great design. There are menus, an index, and space for own recipes. Notes throughout the book are also helpful. It is for the lovers of Spanish food or those who are interested to gain more knowledge about it. It is simple and easy for beginners. I appreciate that this book gives the measurements in spoons/cups/ounces/pounds as well as in grams and milliliters.
I knew about smoked Spanish ham and I heard about Paella, but I was very interested in the book because that was the extend of my knowledge about Spanish cooking. I find this book very interesting and consequently recommend it for readers who are interested in Spanish recipes and for those who look for new inspirations.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a good beginners recipe book.
There's a lot of standard Spanish recipes and information on how to cook them. The recipes are in metric and cups. The recipes are straightforward and fairly simple. There's not a lot of information o the history of some of these recipes. There's some nice pictures of food, but not as many as I'd like.
Overall an ok find.
A super book for understanding and beginning the journey of Spanish cooking, informative with great photos and recipes that are easy to make. The tapas and pichos are mouth watering!
I was very excited to check this book out. I've been wanting to visit Spain and try their food. The recipes in this book look delicious! Not all of them have photos but the ones that do look great! I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
A great intro to Spanish Cooking! Lots of super easy and accessible recipes that any beginner could make. I also really liked the pictures and how easy it would be to find the ingredients in the recipes.
THank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!
A simple and delicious trip to Spain, all for the cost of a cookbook! I greatly appreciated the recipes for pan con tomate and the Spanish tortilla! I’m looking forward to making more of these delicious dishes this summer!
I love authentic cookbooks! I love to travel, partly because I love the food experiences in other countries. When I return home, I miss the variety and new dishes and often crave the deliciousness I just left. Typically, I am not able to find a restraint that offers the same level of authenticity. It makes my heart happy when I can create these dishes myself, in the comfort of my own home and kitchen. This cookbook, Spanish Cookbook for Beginners, offers authenticity as well as an understanding that I have no idea how to cook these dishes! In fact, some of the recipes are explained with content for young cooks/kids. The recipes offer step by step instructions as well as helpful tidbits to maintain the authenticity of the dish. Ingredients are listed with both customary and metric units of measurement. This book offers selections in Tapas and Pinchos, Meat and Fish, Vegetables and Salads, and Sweets. The photos capture the dish as well as the culture and serving options. At the end of the book you will find suggested menus as well as blank pages to add your own creations.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
I would like to thank Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is filled with great recipes, and I will definitely be trying the chocolate and churros. The pictures look amazing, and I like that there is a section at the back of the book where you can add your own recipes.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! Oh I love these recipes, the colors in the book and the images. I also like the notes on each recipes for ways to adjust/make it your own. Great read, I cannot wait to try out these recipes.
What a lovely cookery book. Tried a few of the recipes and my favourites are - Chicken with Olives and Capers, Potatoes Rioja Style, Cheese-stuffed Piquillo Peppers and Meringue Milk Ice Cream. What i really like about the book is the photos for each recipe and the Menus in the back.
What a lovely thought and brilliant execution! I love Spanish food and everything in this book looks delicious. It includes the well-known paella, pan con tomate and the potato omlets as well as some delicacies I've never heard of. The ingredients are easy to obtain, the recipes are simple to make at home without much trouble. I really enjoyed the little snippets of cultural information given by the author. Very few pages are left blank intentionally at the end to use for your own recipes, too. An enjoyable, low-pressure cooking adventure.
Lots of great easy recipes of dishes I have never made but saw on cooking shows. Lots of great photos and simple directions.
I really enjoyed the layout of the recipe pages. Very easy to read and follow along with while cooking. The pictures to complement the recipes were vibrant and appetizing. The "Note" included with various recipes that offered up suggestions on substitutions or additions was also well thought out. Overall, a nice, eclectic compilation of recipes that an average cook should be able to navigate.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group — Quarry for the digital ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you #NetGalley and #QuartoPublishing for an ARC of this beautiful cook book. The pictures are stunning, the recipes are very simple with easy to find ingredients. Spanish food is so delicious, warm, piquant and perfect for entertaining. My family are very fond of tapas or pintxos as they are called in Catalonia, so I am thrilled to have some new recipes.
I am very excited by this book as I have never eaten any authentic Spanish food, I have eaten some paellas at markets, and have made some at home but they lacked the spice used in Spanish cooking. I am excited with this book as I can hopefully be able to learn how to make some of the food.
The book is divided into sections of Tapas, Meat and Fish, Vegetable and Salads and Sweet dishes. The recipes are easy to follow and the photos a good. I am looking forward to making some of these dishes
Really clear and easy to follow recipes, from basics that highlight great ingredients to Valencian Paella and everything in between. A great book for anyone looking to bring a bit of sunshine in to their life.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read Spanish Cooking for Beginners.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. This book had such great recipes and even the pictures alone made my mouth water. ! I did try some of them and they were delicious !
Well, this was more like it. After being quite exasperated by the Italian and French editions in this small series, this Spanish cookbook felt much more along the lines of what I expected from them all. Diving right in with tapas, we get no idea about matching them to make a balanced table, but boy we get a selection – hard-boiled eggs stuffed with creamy yolks and some of the tuna we pickled just pages ago, grilled asparagus and orange mayo, and more. On to mains and of course there's a paella, but at least a recipe for me to snap and keep for later, a fideua, which visually rang a bell but is not something I've cooked ever.
There is not a lot here, in keeping with the others, but this felt better-suited to be something to keep, the others being gift books for people who cannot give gifts. Or books. It is still utterly daft that such a high proportion of it is blank for us to paste in recipes we've found elsewhere, and I still don't need to see old codgers at the market stall buying their squid for the week, or random buildings that might as well have been in soft-focus for all the value they add to proceedings. But at least this did what the others should have done, which was help us to a tasty few spreads that showed us where a more in-depth book might take us, and in a way that keeps it on our shelves.
I am loving this book, the recipes are ones I’ve been wanting to make. I enjoy flipping through the pages, lots of photos and the recipes offer easy to find ingredients. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a gifted copy.
I enjoyed reading this cooking book. All of the recipes look quite delicious. It was quite wonderful to see pictures of the some of the recipes dishes. All of the recipes look easy to make.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
Spanish Cooking for Beginners: Simple and Delicious Recipes for All Occasions by Gabriela Llamas is a great cookbook. The layout is appealing, and the pictures are gorgeous. Each recipe has easy to follow instructions and healthy ingredients. I made the Potatoes Rioja Style, and they were so flavorful and filling. There is also a suggested menu section and a recipe note card section. Love this cookbook.
