Brilliant twists.
Casey Fletcher, a recently widowed actress trying to escape a streak of bad press, has retreated to the peace and quiet of her family’s lake house in Vermont. Armed with a pair of binoculars and several bottles of bourbon, she passes the time watching Tom and Katherine Royce, the glamorous couple living in the house across the lake. They make for good viewing—a tech innovator, Tom is powerful; and a former model, Katherine is gorgeous. One day on the lake, Casey saves Katherine from drowning, and the two strike up a budding friendship. But the more they get to know each other—and the longer Casey watches—it becomes clear that Katherine and Tom’s marriage isn’t as perfect as it appears. When Katherine suddenly vanishes, Casey immediately suspects Tom of foul play. What she doesn’t realize is that there’s more to the story than meets the eye—and that shocking secrets can lurk beneath the most placid of surfaces.
Riley Sager never disappoints. Loved this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hodder Straighten for giving me an advance copy.
Everything Riley writes keeps me on the edge of my seat until the very last page and this was no exception. I loved every minute and read this in one sitting. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher!!
Nerve Shredding Suspense…
Casey has come to the family lake house for peace. A widowed and retired actress, Casey needs solitude and bourbon. She catches sight of a couple across the lake. They seem perfect, happy and contented. Much like she and her husband once were. Everything here, however, is not as it seems at all. Is all this a facade? What else is Casey hiding in the lake house? And is the couple across the way really so perfect? Nerve shredding suspense once again from a master in the game. Twists and turns aplenty, red herrings scattered, a tale so compelling and often so haunting that it’s impossible to put down.
The House Across The Lake is a spooky, thrilling and gripping story that hooked me from page one! When I first saw I had been accepted for the arc of this, I couldn’t contain my excitement and yes, I dropped all other current reads to get to it!
I loved the elements within this book but I can’t say what they were because of ✨spoilers✨
