Description
'Lynette Noni is a marvelous and inventive storyteller' Sarah J Maas
She'd failed them. All of them. And now she was paying the price.
Kiva thought she knew what she wanted-revenge. But feelings change, people change . . . everything has changed.
After what happened at the palace, Kiva is desperate to know if her friends and family are safe, and whether those she wronged can ever forgive her. But with the kingdoms closer to the brink of war than they've ever been, and Kiva far away from the conflict, more is at stake than her own broken heart.
A fresh start will mean a perilous quest, forcing mortal enemies and uneasy allies together in a race against the clock to save not just Evalon, but all of Wenderall. With her loyalties now set, Kiva can no longer just survive-she must fight for what she believes in. For who she believes in. But with danger coming from every side, and the lives of everyone she loves at risk, does she have what it takes to stand, or will she fall?

Thank you so much to the publisher for an early access copy for an honest review!
Is this the best book of 2022?
YES! The answer is most definitely yes!
This book picks up directly after the events of the gilded cage and is an absolutely wild ride from start to finish.
I loved the emotional journey all the characters go on and the levels of anxiety I had during certain scenes had me glued to my iPad for the whole experience.
This is by far my favourite book that Lynette Noni has published!
5 FUCKING STARS!!!!!
I just DEVOURED this masterpiece of a book in one sitting and my head is still reeling over how epic it was! Honestly I did not think I could fall in love with these characters and this world more but Noni has just battered me with her torturous and marvellous book (am I gushing too much lol).
I'm going to save my full detailed review for my blog after publication, so I'll keep this one to the point. The quest, the betrayals, the longing gazes and the words unsaid - everything about this plot was designed to rip my heart to shreds and heal it whole again with Kiva's power. My only complaint is that this series is now over, however shall I go on (flops dramatically on the floor)
Needless to say, this trilogy is brilliant and everyone should read it ASAP!
I’m gutted that this is the end but it was ended beautifully and Lynette did an amazing job writing this book. This has been one of my most anticipated reads of 2022 and it did not disappoint!!
At times I wanted to smash Kiva and Jarens heads together and other times I wanted Jaren to make her suffer even more. The twists in this story are unmatched and just when you think you’ve got it figured out something happens and you’re left astounded once more.
I love the world Lynette has built here and this trilogy is definitely one I will be recommending for a long time to come. Thank you for writing this and releasing during a time where we all needed an escape from our own prisons!!
A fantastic conclusion to one of my all time favourite fantasy series!
Nothing could have prepared me for how amazing this book was. After the way book two ended with Kiva ending up in Zalindov again, I was so scared to find out what would happen to her in this book. Kiva goes through a lot of bad things in this book but she handles them with the determination and strength that make her such an incredible heroine.
There were lots of new faces in this book but also a few old ones. Cresta plays a very important part and I was shocked when she quickly became one of my favourite characters. Jaren, whilst hurt from Kiva's betrayal, is still very much in love with her and I loved how their relationship eventually blosomed once again.
The Blood Traitor is definitely my favourite book by Lynette Noni. I loved the high stakes quest, the dynamics between the characters and the plot twists that never failed to surprise me. I'm so sad that this series is over and I will definitely be rereading it over and over again in the years to come.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Blood Traitor is the final book in The Prison Healer trilogy and was perfect. I love these characters so much, the growth of Kiva throughout this book and the whole series is incredible. It's not just her though, all the characters have their ups and downs, the relationships are complicated and there are some new characters we meet for the first time that have become new favourites!
The writing is also incredible, the way the story flows and the plot twists!! I couldn't put it down! We see more of the other kingdoms, and they are described so vividly, the world building continued to be perfect! I've used the word perfect a lot but this while series genuinely is perfect. Each one of the books I read in a couple days and was immediately desperate for the next. I felt all the emotions and cried at so many moments, if you haven't picked this one up yet, you definitely should!

I was so excited to be approved for this ARC, I have loved this trilogy from the very first book. The characters continuously developed, along with their relationships with each other, but it's also very plot driven, which I loved.
At times I wanted to bang Jarden's and Kiva's heads together and give them both a shake to knock some sense into them. I'll admit I cried many times, as I have in the previous two books 😂.
The plot twists, the scheming, the betrayal were all brilliant and I finished this book in about 7 hours. I'd give more stars if I could.
And yes, whilst I adored this book, I am sad that this trilogy is now complete and finished but The Prison Healer Trilogy has definitely been added to my comfort reads list because I know for sure that I'll be reading these again and again.
Huge thank you to @Lynettenoni, @netgalley and @hodderbooks for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The Blood Traitor is probably one of my most highly anticipated reads of the year and good Lord, this book did not disappoint! My heart's been hurting knowing the desperate state that Kiva was left in at the end of the Gilded cage and I've been on tenterhooks worrying about how she was going to cope!
Straightaway, we're plunged back into the savage Zalindov prison, where things have never been worse for Kiva. The action and the twists just keep coming, I was congratulating myself for working out one twist only to be slapped in the face with the rest of those twists that I never saw coming!
Kiva grows so much during the course of this novel. She wants to help her new found friends and make amends for her past betrayals. There are new quests to go on, more heartbreak and adventure for Kiva. I love Jaren! He's such a refreshing romantic lead; not snarky or cruel in the slightest.
The Blood Traitor was an exhilarating and perfect way to finish this amazing trilogy. I already miss the characters and plan on a reread soon! I really recommend the Prison Healer series. Thank you so much to Hodder and Stoughton and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in return for a review of this brilliant book.
The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni is the final book in The Prison Healer Trilogy and picks up straight after the cliffhanger events in The Gilded Cage. I read The Prison Healer back in January and loved it but held off reading the second book until the third was closer to release. I was lucky enough to have my request approved on @netgalley last week and so read the second and third back to back!
After the ending of TGC, I’m glad I didn't have to wait long to start The Blood Traitor. With Jaren now all too aware of Kiva’s real identity and his magic now gone he sets off with Cal to reunite with his remaining friends and family to concoct a plan to reclaim Vallentia and defeat Zuleeka. Kiva meanwhile has been returned to Zalindov and must now battle her forced addiction to angeldust whilst trying to survive in the prison she fled from all whilst plotting her escape. There is more revealed about the other kingdoms and some of the sub-characters backstories are explored further which was so exciting!
Caldon and Cresta are easily my favourite characters in this book and their development has so much potential for spin-off books! The slow burn in this book is intense with Jaren and Kiva having betrayed the other's trust their conflicting feelings of loathing and longing is painful to read. This book covers so many of the different characters story arcs and answers so many questions from the previous books that fans of the series will not be left disappointed!
This was easily one of my favourite books of the year and as it was one of my most anticipated releases this year I’m so grateful I got to read this early.
Loved this trilogy. True I seem some of the twists coming but I overall enjoyed all 3 of the books. The 1st book took me a while to get into but the wile story I just loved. The characters relationships and the world building was fantastic. I feel some thing could have been more drawn out but it did not detract from the story. Thoroughly enjoyed and was so glad to get this arc! Well deserved 5 out of 5!
I was scared starting this book. Scared two-fold, because of where the second book ended, and because I love the series so much. Thankfully, I was wrong to be scared, because The Blood Traitor is everything I could have wanted in a conclusion to the Prison Healer series.
I laughed. I cried. I screamed.
The characters were, as always, fully fledged and complex. The places briefly seen seem beautiful and intriguing - I could honestly read a book set in any of the cities mentioned in this novel. The story was fast paced and, while events did seem slightly rushed at points, not having enough time is one of the issues they are contending with, so it fits well into the narrative.
I have adored spending time with Kiva and Jaren (and Tipp, Naari, Caldon, Ashlyn, Cresta… need I go on?), and while I am sad that this marks the end of the Prison Healer, I am delighted to have gotten such a fantastic ending to the series.
These books were published through the pandemic, every one, and they have been something for many of us to look forward to at a time when so much has seemed uncertain. A well deserved 5 stars.
This book and the rest of the series has my heart.
The writing is addictive and entrancing, and the world building is beautiful. I got so attached to these characters and this book really made me feel for them and understand their journeys.
While it’s the third in the series, the whole new branch of plot it discovered was amazing. Sometimes books like these can be predictable but this one still had me shocked at every turn.
What a great way to finish such a beautiful series. It’s my favourite book of the year so far and my favourite series as a whole. Highly highly recommend.
The Blood Traitor is an absolutely incredible conclusion to The Prison Healer trilogy! The Prison Healer series is one of my favourites and I was nervous to see where the story went but it was done so perfectly.
The pacing was great, it didn't feel slow or dragged anywhere. I constantly wanted to know what was going to happen next and was hoping everyone was going to be alright. Some of the scenes were so tense, this book is an emotional rollercoaster!
Tipp is still one of my favourite characters but Cresta also took me by surprise - I found all the characters likeable for different reasons, it's rare that I love every character in a book but this little group is just the best.
The twists and turns were so good, I didn't see them coming at all! There's so much action going on but it was easy to follow and I really liked the direction it went, there's definitely a lot of drama in this book - Lynette Noni doesn't shy away from putting her characters through the worst scenarios!
I'm so happy with the way this trilogy ended, I highly recommend reading it if you haven't already. I'd also love to see a spin-off series set in the same world, there are so many possibilities!
Massive thank you to @netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review ✨
💗Jaren💗
Oh boy.. Lynnette where do I start? Like truly?
This fantasy series has been one I’ve loved & raved about for so so long now & to see it come to an end was SO sad, but at the same time it was just bloody brilliant?! I have so much love for these characters & this plot that I just cannot imagine not having picked it up now💗
Lynnette’s writing is so beautifully written & so easy to escape into, I have loved each and every one and flown through them 🥺
I have laughed, cried, smiled & gasped and I just want to re-read it all over again! 🌸
This series is by far the best fantasy trilogy I’ve read to date & I think it will take a LOT to overtake it - I couldn’t recommend it more.. it’s been an absolute pleasure reading & I cannot wait to read Lynette’s backlist now 😭😍
Expect love, heartbreak, drama, war, friendships, family drama, feuds, traitors, enemies, adventure & sacrifice.. it 👏 does 👏 not 👏 disappoint 👏
Ok, you get the message. Read it please hehe ✨
The third book in the series and I was counting down until I could read this, excellent writing and spot on plot lines. Could not ask for more!
This book was such a good addition to the series. I fell in love with all of the characters throughout the series, and this book brought it all to a great end. This series has become one of my favourites of all time, so I was glad to see that the Blood Traitor did not disappoint. I read the entire book in a day, fully emerged in Kiva's struggle with her demons in Zalindov, and I loved seeing her try and repair her relationships with everyone that she has wronged. The chemistry between all of the characters was great, and I loved every single part of it. Absolutely recommend reading this series if you haven't already.
This is the final instalment in the "The Prison Healer" trilogy and oh my god, I still need more.
I absolutely loved this. There isn't one thing I didn't like. The conflict in the book is amazing and kept me on the edge on my seat the whole time. Caldon is amazing as ever and Kiva is as strong as ever. The character development we get in this book is sooo good. Cresta is such a kick-ass in this book, I loved her so much. My heart broke for Jaren through this book, I just want to squeeze him in a tight hug. Same goes for Tipp.
This book wrapped up the series quite nicely. It didn't end the way I wanted it to end but I loved the ending none-the-less. It was such a sweet ending and it still made me want more! I'd love a spin-off series/book to this trilogy. It'd be amazing!
Wow. What a book. What a series.
I think this is up there with one of the best series I’ve ever read. Every single book has hit the mark & this one isn’t an exception.
Apart from Sarah J Maas, I don’t know another YA author that writes the side characters so well. I find in a lot of books where the author tries including more and more characters, you end up forgetting about them or just not caring about them at all. I knew from the second book that Lynette didn’t have this problem, but she proves it again in this book. We have a few new characters joining the gang and one in particular (maybe 2 actually) I found myself rooting for SO HARD. Caldon though will always be my number 1. One of my favourite characters EVER.
We have a quest in this last instalment (YAYYY) and thinking back to it now I’m writing this review, I’m shocked Lynette managed to include so much without the book being 700 plus pages. We travel to multiple new places all bringing something different. We have intense arena fights, a marketplace full of strange things, and a small side quest in one of the last locations (my favourite). It’s paced extremely well. The only thing I think some people might complain about is the situation with Jaren (don’t want to spoil) takes a long time to happen, but in my opinion it’s placed perfectly. By the time we get there so much has happened & it’s truly emotional. The scene in the dessert between Kiva & Jaren had me full on ugly crying, aswell as Kiva on angeldust. That had me crying with laughter to crying in pain very quickly.
Also, just want to add that Lynette is the queen of plot twists. I didn’t see this one coming at all. At. All.
I’m so sad it’s the end of the trilogy, but equally so happy that I found it and it will forever be up there as one of my favourite ever YA fantasy series. You know a book is good when you keep thinking about it and I haven’t been able to get this out of my head. Anything Lynette writes is now an auto buy and if anyone is reading this who hasn’t started the trilogy or wondering if this book will live up to first 2, I can confidently say you won’t be dissapointed.
Thankyou so much to NetGalley & Hodder & Stoughton for the e-arc.
What a perfect ending to this trilogy. I loved every page of it. It flew by. The twists and turns the characters. Everything just fit together nicely and tied it all up. I’m so sad this series is over! Easy 5 star.
A beautifully written book. Really enjoyed reading this. Thanks to publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read
Lynette Noni has done it again, this is a masterpiece. I LOVED it. The tension, the drama, but especially the characters. Tipp, Cresta, Caldon - my heart. It was so intense, an ultimate page turner and I hope this isn't the last we see of these amazing characters.
I loved being back in Zalindov with Keva, it is such an incredible unique setting for a YA fantasy and I loved every minute. It was amazing to be back with these amazing characters, grow to love ones you hadn't realised were so amazing before and meet new ones.
This is one of the best YA series I've read and I cannot recommend it enough.
I have NO WORDS. This book deserves all the stars in the world. It was so amazing, I had high hopes for it and it did not disappoint. Lynette Noni has managed to break my heart again and again, and then mend it and then break it again. I don't even know what to say about this book, just that I loved it with all my heart and it's such a perfect ending for a beautiful series. I'm going to miss these characters so much, I've grown to love and appreciate them, even those I hated at first.
The Prison Healer is now one of my favorite fantasy series and I will neevr stop talking about it. EVERYONE needs to read this series!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Kiva thought she knew what she wanted—revenge. But feelings change, people change... everything has changed. After what happened at the palace, Kiva is desperate to know if her friends and family are safe, and whether those she wronged can ever forgive her. But with the kingdoms closer to the brink of war than they’ve ever been, and Kiva far away from the conflict, more is at stake than her own broken heart. A fresh start will mean a perilous quest, forcing mortal enemies and uneasy allies together in a race against the clock to save not just Evalon, but all of Wenderall. With her loyalties now set, Kiva can no longer just survive—she must fight for what she believes in. For who she believes in. But with danger coming from every side, and the lives of everyone she loves at risk, does she have what it takes to stand, or will she fall?
Poor Kiva really goes through it in this book. But I can certainly say I deeply admire her courage. Her vulnerabilities made her stronger and she embraced them over the course of the book, allowing them to become her strengths. She faced many challenges but despite the lows, and the absolute rock bottoms, she continued on - trusting herself and those around her to keep going, to keep moving forward. I could relate to some of the darker moments Kiva went through which endeared her further to me. She’s definitely a favourite character of mine.
I must admit that Jaren annoyed me for a lot of this book. Sure he was going through a lot - particularly with what happened at the end of the previous book - but did he need to be such an ass about it? Hell no! I forgave him a little bit since he was dealing with something monumental and I’ve always liked him in the previous books but oof. It was certainly an experience to see him behave so differently to the prince we know.
Caldon never ceases to impress, annoy and endear me. He doesn’t lose his sunny disposition despite everything thrown in his, and the group’s, direction. I definitely would mind such a delightfully sarcastic and wildly protective friend in my life!
Cresta was an unexpected but delightful addition to our motley crew! It was fun getting to see a different side to her hard exterior and watch her let loose with everyone. Her support of Kiva was incredibly touching and I almost wish we got to see even more of it!
Of course I can’t forget to mention Tipp and Naari as well! Absolutely brilliant characters that have my heart. I need more and more of them please!
All I can say is WOW. What. A. Book. I don’t think I could have asked for a better conclusion to this trilogy. I have been obsessed with the books from the beginning and I am thrilled that this one didn’t disappoint! We get an epic quest. Familiar characters become favourite characters. I JUST LOVE IT. I feel I don’t have the words to describe just how much I enjoyed this book. The ending, I must say, was absolute perfection. I laughed, I cried. There’s no better way to read a book than become so immersed that you scarcely notice time passing as you go on an epic journey with the characters - and that’s exactly what this book (and this series) delivered.
Overall, The Blood Traitor is an exquisite end to a series I truly love and adore!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Thank you again to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for an advanced copy of this book. Review will be live on my blog on 13th June.
This was a great ending to a series I really loved! Kiva’s journey was definitely not easy and had my emotions all over the place! It was just as fast paced as the previous books and I didn’t want to put it down! There were some great surprises and some not so great ones, but I loved every second! Caldon and Jaren are still my favorites, but it was nice to add Cresta and Ashlyn to the gang as well! The ending had me worried for a little but it was very satisfying and I’m going to miss these characters! I will gladly read any and all spin-offs!
This book is the stunning conclusion to one of my favourite fantasy series. Thank you Lynette Noni for writing this incredible story.
The Blood Traitor follows Kiva, back in Zalindov again, as she battles new and old enemies with the help of some unexpected characters along the way. There is a quest (!) (we love a quest) and we are introduced to more of the somewhat troubled kingdoms of Wenderall.
First off, the writing felt different than the previous books to me, I couldn't put my finger on it - more mature maybe? This book is very action packed, there's less build up and lots happens in a short amount of time. There are lots of new faces, but with Kiva back in Zalindov, we're reunited with some old ones. Cresta is back and boy I did not expect to like her so much. Jaren was a bit of a lil b*tch at times though and I wanted to strangle him for how mean he was being to Kiva. The group dynamic was excellent and I enjoyed seeing how close they all got (found family trope??). Caldon is still an absolute babe though and if there is ever a Caldon spin-off Lynette, you can take all of my money. The twists, the turns, the betrayal !!! Insane and perfect, just incredible.
There was one point where I cried and hard, my reaction was along the lines of *how DARE you!!!* and *this b*tch gonna get slapped*. But all was resolved and the ending was just perfect. (Rooke got exactly what he deserved *insert me cackling*). I loved this trilogy and I will miss these characters so much. Everyone should read these books.
This book was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and I am so thankful to Hodder and NetGalley for the chance to review this book.
5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the e-arc for an honest opinion.
Please take in mind it’s my opinion, and everyone is allowed to have one.
How to explain how much I’ve loved this whole serie? This book pulled me out of a YA Fantasy slump, from beginning till the end it had me hooked. I like how such an easy, fun and fast read this was.
Honestly when you’re going to read it get tissues ready, I’ve cried a couple times. It was literally a rollercoaster of emotions, there was sadness but there was also fun.
I’m so glad to see that some people got the redemption they deserve like Cresta, bloody loved her character in this book! Hope we get to see more of her. Also the other characters were so great all of them were so well written.
And not to mention the whole plot? I didn’t see that coming.
10/10 Would recommend this to everyone!
4.5/5
The blood traitor is the final part of the prison healer trilogy (spoilers below for the end of book 2 the guided cage).
Kiva is back in Zalindov, the death camp where she spent most of her childhood, and this time at the hands of her own sister. Hooked on angeldust, alone, and having betrayed her friends and the man she loves it doesn’t look like there is a way out this time. Nobody leaves Zalindov after all, especially not twice.
Okay so I will admit this has been my most anticipated release this year. I picked up the first two in the Waterstones new year sale and devoured them. I even found myself putting off finishing the book, just to keep it going a little bit longer.
I loved it. Full of the same twists and turns as the first two books, with a satisfying ending. I did not expect to love Cresta, but she really is amazing.
The romance between Kiva and Jaren continues to build. But more than that I really enjoyed her relationships with the rest of the family, especially Caldon.
Obviously it’s not perfect, I would have liked to see some of the LGBT relationships hinted at in the earlier books actually come to fruition, or be explored in more depth. The writing and the dialogue can be a bit too overly descriptive, but that is also just common in the genre.
Overall, a very satisfying end to a fun trilogy.
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read the blood traitor.
So I was surprised by the ending of the first and second books which never happens to me, so I went into this one determined to guess the ending which I thought I'd done...I didn't I was close but still caught out.
I will say one part broke my f**king heart, I very nearly yeated my kindle luckily I carried on.
Now we dream.
“We’re in this together, Sunshine. You and me. Got it?”
OH MISERY! OH DESPAIR! THE TRAGEDY! *dramatic wailing and snorting into tissue* One of my favourite book series has come to an end - and what an ending it was. Lynette Noni, I cannot comprehend the words great enough to convey how in awe I am of you. The Blood Traitor is a masterpiece. How Noni wrote this in 46 days blows my freaking mind.
The Blood Traitor doesn’t let up on the brakes from the opening page. Picking up from where The Gilded Cage ended, we’re thrust right back into the action with our hearts in our mouths and stomachs churning with Kiva’s shocking circumstances and heartbreak. Quite literally at rock bottom, Kiva must somehow pick herself up and dust off the pain, to find a way to reunite with her found family and make right the wrongs that have happened.
Just like The Prison Healer and The Gilded Cage, The Blood Traitor is extremely fast paced, highly readable and action-packed. In order to save the kingdom of Evalon, many of the characters we’ve come to love journey across Kingdoms we’ve not yet seen, encountering challenge after challenge every step of the way. There’s numerous sword battles, magic training and cloak and dagger schemes, all leading to a climax of epic proportions. It’s adventurous, thrilling and had me on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE time!! The expression action-packed is not used lightly!
If I had to pick an absolute favourite thing in The Blood Traitor, it is the message of hope it promotes. This instalment takes Kiva to a very dark place: bookfriends, please be mindful that the story explores themes of self loathing and suicidal thoughts. I won’t lie, this made me teary and played havoc with my emotions. But it was/is worth it for the portrayal of someone fighting their way back to the light. It was nothing short of inspiring and unforgettable. There are many passages in this book I’ve saved to reflect on when I’m having a bad day, because they mean so much, especially coming from characters I love wholeheartedly - thank you Lynette Noni.
The heart in these books is a soothing balm for the soul. The friendship, acceptance and general family vibes certainly brightened up my days and made me feel less alone. Even though I’m disappointed there wasn’t more romance (with only a tiny bit of Kiva and Jaren’s romance toward the end of the book), Kiva’s friendships with Caldon and CVK (if you know, you know) make up for it. The friendships found in this book are God tier found family. If you’re ever feeling down and need some fictional friendship TLC? Look no further; you’ll find your support here.
I love, love, love, LOVE these characters. The entire ensemble were perfect. Noni continues to explore and expand the character arcs of supporting characters, which in my past experience when reading book series, either takes away from the main character/story or is a nuisance because I couldn’t care less about them. That is not the case here. I was choked up holding back my tears, I was fist bumping the air with elation… I very much enjoyed getting to know or being reacquainted with newer characters.
And of course! This wouldn’t be The Prison Healer series without some plot twists and drama, would it? The craftsmanship of how thoroughly this series was plotted to pull off the number of jaw dropping shocks and turn of events it has, is the definition of genius. And The Blood Traitor is no exception. I could see where some threads were headed and figured out other threads, but Noni still snuck up on me and left me SPEECHLESS! I’m still waiting for my eyebrows to come back down from my hairline.
The Blood Traitor is how you write a conclusion to a series. It takes us out with a bang and delivers an extraordinary end to an absolutely phenomenal YA fantasy series. It’s one my favourite reads ever and I will read it again and again and again in the future. You know a book was a special kind of magic when there is literal pain because it’s all over.
High stakes, heart pounding and completely soul consuming - if there’s one book series you read in 2022, make it this one. It’s not to be missed. Thank you for the wild ride.
Thank you beyond words to Hodder & Stoughton for an e-ARC in exchange for this honest review.
I cannot cope with the fact that this series has come to an end. Kiva and Jaren are two characters who I absolutely adore and I need more of in my life. What I loved about this book, beyond the quests and adventure, was the sense of found family and old characters coming back into play. Caldon will forever hold a piece of my heart, as will Tipp! Noni has created a world that captures you completely. What a brilliant ending to a fantastic fantasy trilogy! I could easily pick this book up again and read it.
Firstly I’d like to thank the publishers and Netgalley for the eARC, I love you eternally 😍😘
The Prison Healer Series is one of my favourites so I was so worried about the ending but I don’t know why I was, this book is EPIC!! It phenomenal 😍😍
It starts off with Kiva in Zalindov where, after making an unexpected ally, she ‘manages’ to get away from the prison and from there her journey continues (sorry, I want to keep this as spoiler free as possible 😅😅). She manages to ‘meet’ up with all of our friends from the previous books (how I’ve missed Jaren 😍🥵).
As always, Caldon totally stole the show for me ❤️❤️ I absolutely adore him and he is on top form in The Blood Traitor. He has a new person to play with and I’m living for it!! I love his relationship with Kiva and they’re so loving in this book (they made me cry).
The storyline is brilliant!! It’s fast paced, always moving, surprising and yet nothing is rushed. Everything is set a good pace so you know where every character is at that time. It’s perfect ❤️❤️
My heart totally melts when the words Kiva and Jaren are on the same page 🥹🥹 I’ve not forgotten to write about them or their relationship, I just don’t want to spoil anything for anyone ❤️❤️
I cried while reading this book. A lot. Like 10 times. I’m super emotional about it for so many reasons 🥺❤️ Kiva’s journey is one that I’ve loved going on so much and now I super sad that it’s over but I’m also so glad I got to go on it with the gang ❤️❤️ Lynette Noni did not disappoint in anyway and if I could give this book 10 stars I would. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for sure!!
As soon as I started Prison Healer, Lynette Noni’s first instalment in the trilogy of the same name, I knew I was on to something special. The imagery explored in the setting of Zalindov, the strong female lead and that ending twist really made for a special book that I raved about to anyone that would listen. The Gilded Cage (the second book), didn’t grab me as much – it felt a lot like just set up for what was coming next and some of the YA love scenes and pining made my eyes roll. I was a little bit apprehensive, therefore about starting book 3!
I needn’t have worried; The Blood Traitor is just as good as The Prison Healer and really made for a special end to the trilogy. There’s an epic quest introduced as well as a lot of drama and plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested. Although the book is over 400 pages, it was paced really well and kept my interest throughout as I flew through it to find out what happened next.
In contrast to the previous book, there was quite a lot going on here with a lot of different cities and new characters to explore. I did almost feel like some of the plot could have been passed back to the second book, particularly as that one felt like filler at times. It did make for an exciting read though. I liked the addition of the new characters as well as some surprising returning faces as well. My only criticism is that Kiva really does suffer from ‘main character’ syndrome at times – everyone seems to love her no matter what she does and anything anyone does is always linked back to her. It makes her a bit exhausting as a hero character and I would have liked a few more flaws to be seen from her throughout the trilogy.
This is the last book in the trilogy and it does end well and wraps up all of the storylines in a neat way. I enjoyed how the final battle concludes and think it was probably the best outcome for everyone. I would love a follow up to see what happens to each of these characters in the future but whatever Lynette writes next I will be looking out for!
Overall, The Blood Traitor is the perfect end to a fantastic trilogy. Thank you to NetGalley & Hodder & Stoughton for the chance to read the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Woah! I was so excited to be approved for this one having devoured the previous two novels in the series and this was no different. Even though I had kind of forgotten what happened in the previous book, it was easy to catch back up and fall right back in love with Kiva and the gang <3
I absolutely loved getting to know some of the characters we had only heard about in the previous books as well as the darker battles being faced by the characters after the events at the end of The Gilded Cage,
I must say that Cresta is one hell of a character and I adored her journey as well as getting to see more of Caldon! He’s the best :)
I did find some elements a little slow and predictable and the ending a little *too* convenient for my tastes, but it was minor really! A fab conclusion to an awesome trilogy
4.5 stars
Thank you so much to everyone at Hodder and Stoughton and Netgalley for this gifted e-ARC! Xxx
This review is going to suck because this book was perfect and I have nothing to say, apart from just screaming into the void this book was absolutely awesome.
The Blood Traitor is the perfect ending to the trilogy. I have nothing but praise for this series, Lynette Noni surprised me book after book. I was expecting this book to fully explore this world and that’s exactly what we got and so much more. I can’t believe she managed to develop existing characters even further and bring new intriguing ones at the same time.
We found a different Kiva at the beginning, she is back at Zalindov and the second time is even darker and more messed up, but she found a new and totally unexpected ally. This story is about building relationships, finding the strength to continue even when you want to give up, and also redemption. I loved how the plot evolved book after book and how the plot never stopped bringing twists in the story that made it difficult to put this book down. Once you start, you have to get to the end.
This trilogy is a gem. It’s truly amazing and whilst we had a full solid conclusion to the story which really kept me on the edge until the very end, I really wished to read more about these characters (especially Tor and Calden, I need more of them!!). The very last words of this story left me in tears, and Noni’s acknowledgements made me cry even more.
Holy shitballs guys.
The Prison Healer is officially one of my favorite series of all time. I'm completely obsessed with this world and each and every character in it, so much so that I dropped everything when I saw that I was approved for this ARC and devoured this in less than 24 hours while on a citytrip in Vienna.
This was the ending the series deserved, and I wouldn't change a freaking thing about this. My one complaint is that I wouldn't have minded another book... or five?!
This basically kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time and delivered some serious plot twists and caused several heart attacks. I feel as if I've been through an emotional wringer but I feel reborn now!
Oh my god what a beautiful series finale!
I cried, I laughed, I fell in love ... I loved this series.
I can't say much because being the third and final book in the series I risk spoiling the previous books... so let's focus on the style.
Lynette Noni's writing is beautiful and so are all the characters she manages to create!
The plot is also very interesting in all three books and I really liked this ending.
If you haven't done it yet ... read this series!
Thanks Netgalley and Lynette Noni for providing me with this digital arc in exchange for an honest review.
There are no words to describe just how excited I was for this book. I first started this series last year, when the first book, The Prison Healer, was featured in a Fairyloot box. I immediately fell head over heels in love with this series. It brought back my absolute love and obsession for YA Fantasy, and I have been dying to get my hands on this final instalment for months, to see how it was all going to end. I had such high expectations of this book… and it smashed each and every one clear out of the park. This book was, in a word, phenomenal!
We were left hanging from the cliffhanger of The Gilded Cage and The Blood Traitor picks up right where we left off. If there is one thing that Lynette Noni can do, it is write one hell of a cliffhanger. I was so happy to see this book picked back up immediately and I was thrown head over heels back into this world. I couldn’t read this book fast enough. I seriously couldn’t put it down. Lynette Noni is such a phenomenal author, she really grabs your attention within the first page and does not let it go until you have devoured the entire book. She did this, once again with The Blood Traitor. I was racing through pages dying to see what was going to happen to my beloved characters.
This book is one of the most emotional books I think I have ever read. Right from the start I was completely and utterly broken hearted for Kiva and the guilt and hate that she has for herself because of her actions in the previous book. She really goes through a journey in this one, and I loved each and every moment of it. I actually adore series where the female lead character is the one who does the betraying, rather than the male, because we get to see the ins and outs of their thoughts while doing the betraying… and the aftereffects. This is a major role in this book and it brought me such heartbreak… in the best possible way. This book was a journey of healing for Kiva and I adored every second.
The Blood Traitor was an absolutely perfect ending for a fantastic series. I even ended up having a new favourite character, someone who I hated in previous books. I loved that we saw all of these different sides to characters we thought we knew before. It was just such a perfect journey for everyone. No matter if it was the lead characters, or the smaller side characters, everyone came full circle and got their deserved ending. This series is one of my all time favourites. I adored every single page of all three books. It is one I will read again and again, and I really cannot praise and recommend this book enough! If you haven’t read it yet, what the hell are you waiting for? Go pick it up right now! Lynette Noni is a genius, and has sealed herself firmly on my auto-buy author list. I adore her, and cannot wait to see what she writes next (PS, please be a Prison Healer spin-off!).
The third (and final) instalment of Lynette Noni’s magnificently addictive and plot-twisty The Prison Healer series is by far her best book yet! Honestly, Noni’s exquisite world building, endearing characters and shocking twists have consistently had me on the edge of my seat (an in an emotional chokehold) for the entirety of Kiva’s journey.
I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve experienced every possible emotion in between and can honestly say that I absolutely loved every second of it!
Picking up directly after the magnificently plot twisty events of The Gilded Cage, The Blood Traitor sees Kiva still coming to terms with the events at the palace and desperate to know if Torell, Tipp, Jaren and Caldon are safe and whether Jaren and Co. Can ever forgive her. But the kingdoms are on the brink of war and Kiva—even far away from the conflict—more at risk than just her broken heart. With such a risky quest on the horizon, forcing mortal enemies and uneasy allies to work together is a race against the clock to save (not just Evalon but the entirety of Wenderall).
But with danger striking from all angles, and the lives of everyone she cares about on the line, does she have what it takes to stand, or will she fall?
Once again, Lynette Noni’s world building is utter perfection, as was the detailed, nuanced and well developed characters—both old faves and new—that I found so incredibly endearing. Kiva really cannot catch a break and goes through ALOT in the first half of the book, but her growth as a character was phenomenal (I know I’ve said this about every book in the series, but it’s true) and I did find myself crying on more than once whilst reading her scenes so, if you’re an emotional reader (like me) do keep some tissues handy, you’re gonna need them.
I really enjoyed seeing Cresta again (the Zalindov rebel from The Prison Healer) and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked her. I didn’t particularly like her in the first book and hearing about her own life and how she ended up in Zalindov really brought to light a side of her I didn’t know existed. She also plays a rather big role too which I absolutely loved.
We are also introduced to Caldon’s Sister Ashlyn (General of Evalon’s army), who gets a brief mention in The Gilded Cage, and the strained relationship dynamic between her and the usually chipper Caldon was really interesting to watch unfold.
But it’s the relationship between Kiva and Jaren that experiences the most upheaval as Jaren still feels hurt by Kiva’s betrayal (and lies) but it’s made quite clear—to everyone but Kiva—that he’s still in love with her. They do eventually work through it, in dramatic fashion I might add but I enjoyed every second of it.
Honestly after two incredibly plot twisty books that led me on an emotional rollercoaster, I didn’t think anything could surprise me this time around, but the shocking twists just keep coming and I absolutely loved it! It’s Noni’s best book by far and I’m still in awe of her skill in crafting soo many plot twists I didn’t see coming, at this point it must be her superpower!
I urge everyone who’s read The Prison Healer and The Gilded Cage to go give this a read—and if you haven’t done so what are you waiting for? If you love YA fantasy, strong female protagonists or Sarah J. Maas worthy plot twists then you’re going to absolutely love this series.
Thanks to Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for the e-arc.
4,5 stars.
So, that was a real rollercoaster. Reading this book, I went through so, so much.
Anyway.
I love the writing, I think Lynette improves with each book and this one really won my heart. It was much much wittier, funnier and somber than the other two.
Even as an i-don’t-mind-reading-trauma person, Kiva’s trauma kind of shook me. Consider this a sign to check trigger warnings before reading the novel.
Kiva’s journey with herself and everyone else is such a powerful opportunity to show all kinds of character development, and I am so proud of Lynette for actually doing this so well.
Look, I loved Carlon before, but in this.. he reaches another level of charming. His characterisation here makes you want to hug him until you break his bones. In a friendly way.
The plot was interesting all throughout, the pacing worked well for me, and I think everything was wrapped up perfectly.
Thanks to the author and the publisher for an early copy of the novel in exchange for my honest review. Very appreciated!
Thankyou to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an e-arc of The Blood Traitor. This book was everything that i needed in a final book. I love the characters and the journey that they have gone on throughout the 3 books, where they started and where they finished i just wanted to read more, The plot twists, oh the plot twists i was not expecting them and they made ne happy and they made me angry. i had a whirlwind of emotions and this is definitely a new favourite trilogy.
When I read The Prison Healer last April, I was instantly hooked and devoured the whole book in one day! The same happened for The Gilded Cage and my love for the characters and this world grew even more when reading that one! I was then eagerly anticipating the last book which I finally got to read last week and I LOVED IT!
Lynette absolutely put me and my emotions through it in The Blood Traitor with an epic quest putting the gang in many a tough situation that had me so stressed!
I laughed, I cried (sobbed actually) and I loved every moment! Such an amazing ending to one of my now favourite trilogies ever!!
If you haven't started these books yet, please go pick it up so you're prepared for The Blood Traitor coming out June 14th, you won't regret it!
After the ending of The Gilded Cage I really was torn over whether or not to start this. I was desperate to find out what happened to Kiva, but I worried whether this could possibly live up to my expectations. I’m pleased to report that this really is a phenomenal end to the series, and - yet again - I shall be urging people to read this.
This time round we focus on Kiva and the part she plays in trying to restore the wrongs that have been taking place. Relationships are key to this novel, and while I hoped throughout that everything would resolve in the way I dreamed, it wasn’t clear cut. Nobody is quite as they seem, and there’s some seriously unexpected revelations that make so much sense once they come but which sneak upon us as we’re focusing on other matters.
Integral to the plot is a quest…and it’s a good one. Tension aplenty, risks and adventure but also the opportunity for key threads from the previous books to be addressed.
Once I’d started and got back into the world Kiva inhabits, it was incredibly difficult to put the book down. From start to finish I was desperate to see how certain elements would unfold, and though I knew the ending would be bittersweet it honestly felt as if no stone was left unturned and Evalon/Winderall would be in safe hands.
Huge thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review this prior to publication, and now to wait until it’s launched into the world and I can talk to others about it!
Such a perfect and satisfying ending to such a brilliant series. I really went on an emotional roller coaster with trilogy. The plot of all books was so unique and I was throughly enthralled throughout. There were so many amazing and unexpected twists and turns that kept me on edge throughout, the world building was intricate and distinctive, the magic system was simple to understand yet imaginative and I was utterly entertained and fascinated by the main and side characters (Tipp and Caldon own my heart). Overall this was a flawless fantasy series with an impeccable conclusion
Wow
This series has been a consistent five stars, and this conclusion is unmatched. Non stop pulse pounding action with the characters I adore still reeling from the conclusion of the second book, The Blood Traitor is everything I hoped for and more. All fantasy lovers should pick up this brilliant series!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I have no idea where to even begin...
The Blood Traitor begins exactly where The Gilded Cage ends and in an unlikely turn of events Cresta (who we meet in The Prison Healer) becomes one of my all time favourite characters. I genuinely hated her character in The Prison Healer but from the moment this book begins she is right there and is a completely different person.
When I was reading scenes about Jaren and Kiva my heart hurt, I had chest pains from so many emotions. I laughed, I cried and I loved all throughout their reunions and their hostilities. I dare anyone to find two characters who belong together more than these two.
Caldon... Will you just be a real person please? I think everyone deserves to have their own Caldon in their lives. And yes, I spent far too long crying at a certain scene. Lynette Noni, what did you do to me?
I thought the twists and turns throughout the first two books would have prepared me but nope I didn't see half of what happened coming and it hit me like a freight train.
I loved the world building, the character development (both old and new characters) and also the pure emotion that this book invoked.
Overall, The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni is a 5 star read from me. This trilogy is definitely in my top 3 favourite book series.
This review will be available on my blog in the next couple of weeks: www.teaandfairytales.co.uk
I loved this book, it was well written, had a fantastic storyline and well developed characters that I loved. This book follows on seamlessly from the previous book and I didn't feel like I had to reread the previous book to catch up, it literally felt like I read it and then picked this one up.
I loved it.
Back with Kiva and after the events of The Gilded Cage, I wondered where this book was going to take us......
Firstly, I have to get this off my chest: There was a quest! A quest! An absolutely perfect quest! Now let's get back to it!
'She was on her own, just the way it should be. She’d earned that, the suffering, the pain.'
Oh and Kiva did suffer but found a couple of unexpected allies! And I couldn't be happier!
I can't really say anything without spoiling so the plot is totally off limits here but know this, you won't be disappointed!
Kiva, Jaren, Caldon, Tipp and co stole my heart over and over again. Honestly I adored every character in this series (apart from the baddies!) and there's not many series you can say that about!
This was superb! Just like the first 2 books, this was top notch, there's not a thing I didn't enjoy!
It was everything I wanted, action, drama,
shocks, revelations where my jaw dropped, heartbreak, heart warming moments and all tied up in a neat little bow. Fabulous conclusion!
'Now, we dream.'

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟⠀
⠀
oh MY, thank you to my best friend for forcing me to read this series, i can’t believe i ever doubted you @mollysmustreads . this trilogy is a MUST read for fantasy lovers , it was gorgeous, action packed, contained romance, drama, quests (i love a quest?!?!) and so so much more!! ⠀
⠀
i met some incredible characters throughout the journey of these books - (caldon, i am in love with you!!!) and it was incredible to watch these characters grow and develop in their individual way, it made my heart so warm 😩😩⠀
⠀
the third is definitely my favourite, the ring quest (LOTR vibes guys) the challenges and barriers that they were up against- let alone the ENDING (😩😮💨) i swear my heart feels empty now i’ve finished this series, it’s definitely going to be a regular reread comfort series 🤍⠀
⠀
seriously, READ THESE !! PLEASE!!! NOW!! ⠀
and thank you @netgalley for the ARC of the third, i literally started it immediately after finishing the second (lynette how dare you with that cliffhanger) x
The Blood Traitor is the final instalment of The Prison Healer trilogy and it was everything! The story picks up from where we left The Gilded Cage, and as with the 2 previous books we are straight back into the action. Although Kiva did some mighty dumb things, my heart broke for her at the beginning. This is another fast paced book that had me on the edge of my seat whilst reading, and feeling all the feels! I felt so many emotions throughout this book, its an absolute rollercoaster. I loved the new friendship that Kiva made with an unlikely character, this bond that grew in the most difficult circumstances was just beautiful! There were so many challenges that the characters had to go through and reading about them all coming to terms with what had happened and seeing them grow even more was amazing. We had a quest in this book, I mean come on, how incredible! I could not put this book down, Caldon will forever be my favourite, sorry Jaren but there is no competition. The side characters are all so important to the story, sometimes I feel like having too many can take away from the main ones, but this is not the case with these books. They all bring their own uniqueness and each personality just gels so well with the others. The world building was rich and lush, I could picture everything perfectly. There were plenty of twists and turns and holy moly that ending! This book was everything I hoped it would be.
Oh my god. Lynette is a master with words. This was the perfect conclusion to the trilogy I have come to love so deeply. I laughed, i cried and I held my breath. This was incredible.
Thank you so much Hodder and Stoughton for the arc. That was incredible
Damn it I love Cresta in every way humanly fathomable, closely followed by Caldon.
This book tugged at my emotions so hard, and so frequently, that I think I am permanently scarred. I cried, in multiple places, I full on legitimately balled my eyes out. And there were times I laughed, times I smiled, and a couple times I shouted my agreement in such loud happiness I scared my child.
We got to know and love (and hate, you know who you are 👀) so many characters in The Blood Traitor, the development of Kiva and Jaren was just heart wrenching to read, both their individual journeys and their journey together. I have so much respect for Lynette Noni for writing such perfectly relatable characters with story arcs that touch the soul.
And that ending though is utter perfection, I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion to this book, and the trilogy itself.
The Blood Traitor is the big final book in the (The Prison Healer) series by Lynette Noni. Not joking I screamed and jumped up and down when I got this ARC book sent to me by netgalley. I’ve been counting the days down since The Gilded Cage, and just kept looking on netgalley to request for this book. This series has been absolutely phenomenal since book one, what an absolute epic adventure this has been. I've enjoyed every minute and The Blood Traitor was out of this world, I was so glued to the story that I was there, and forgot I was in this world.
"𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚'𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩-𝙞𝙛𝙨. 𝘿𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩."
The Blood Traitor starts straight off from where we were left by that suspenseful cliff hanger Lynette left us with. Kiva goes through a tough time in this book, she definitely has to face her worst nightmares yet and be the strongest she can ever be before. With everyone thinking she is a traitor not the easiest thing. We get to know a lot more about characters from past books too which I loved. Now Jaren ahhhhhhh I absolutely love Jaren so much, I’ve gotta say Kiva and Jaren was breaking my heart literally. I seriously was an emotional wreck reading this book. It was so nerve racking, I just didn't want to lose any of these characters that I fell so in love with. I really got to love Caldon in this. He melted my heart, he is so sweet, I really wish I had a friend like Caldon, he had me in stitches. Some of the things he was saying were brilliant. Sweet little Tipp bless his little heart, he so brilliant and you can see from book one how much he has grown up and how much more confident he's got.The time is ticking before the war is coming, with enemies drawing closer there's a quest that must be completed to save the whole of Wenderall, with tough and dangerous challenges ahead, They all face their most perilous journey yet.

I am so upset to say goodbye to this extraordinary series. Lynette is amazing at creating this world and such lovable characters, there were definitely ones that I hated so much, I'm sure you guys will agree when finishing this series. I was in tears when I read the last page, I didn't want it to be over and I devoured this book. I have no words that describe how utterly amazing this read was. This is one series that will stay with me forever and will definitely be rereading in the future. Lynette and become one of my favourite authors. I can’t wait for you guys to read cause wow what a perfect finale it was.
Thank you for NetGalley and the Publisher for an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
This trilogy has been a journey like no other. I was beyond happy to be approved for an e-arc of this book because it has been one of my most anticipated reads of 2022.
Lynette Noni delivered, just as she delivered in The Prison Healer and The Gilded Cage. We had all our favourite characters and then some join us on an adventure that, in my opinion ended the way I always hoped it would.
What is absolutely amazing about this and this trilogy as a whole is that while being a YA book, light at times, it still managed to tackle some very important aspects of being a human. Of all the mistakes we make, the guilt we live with, even if it is unfounded, how to find our families among the friends who support us till the end, and how to let go of our real family when we know in our heart that they are doing the wrong thing. This book was a shining beacon in my life and I am still not over the last sentence.
All I can say that if you like YA fantasy, I would be surprised if you did not enjoy this trilogy. I dare you.
5million /5 stars
This series has been one of my favourites of the last few years, so The Blood Traitor was one of my most anticipated books of the year. Fortunately, it doesn't disappoint as a finale.
We pick up pretty much where we left off after THAT cliffhanger. All the favourite characters are back, with a few more besides - some who you will probably love; some who you will love to hate. The world of Wenderall is expanded this time, and we get to visit some more of the different kingdoms.
Just like the previous books in the trilogy, there are twists galore. If you're anything like me, you'll be so pleased with yourself for figuring out one that you'll be completely blindsided by another (which is just the way I like it).
All in all, a very satisfying conclusion to a thoroughly enjoyable series. Would recommend!
First of all: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Second of all: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Oh my god this book was PERFECT!! What a magnificent ending to the trilogy, I am so happy with how it ended. Lynette Noni, you are amazing and a force of nature.
It is hard to talk about The Blood Traitor without giving away spoilers, so let me just say that Noni DELIVERS. She delivers on the pain, the emotions, the action, THE EMOTIONS!! (did I say that one??), the plot, the relationships, just everything . . .
Cal and Kiva are both so precious and I will protect them with my LIFE. I loved how this book made me love a character I never thought I'd love, but really she stole the show at points. I guessed the twist involving her and I LOVE IT and when is the spin off coming to follow her tale?? Noni you have a reader here in me. I'll be there as soon as it comes out of the printer.
I loved how this book showed found family, hope, courage, and forgiveness. I loved how the women in this book kicked ass. I loved how they didn't need to be physically strong to be strong. I loved how strength included being vulnerable, and allowing other people to help you when you need it. I loved the ending.
I think that just about sums up my review: I loved it.
Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review
This was the most PERFECT final book to what has become one of my most treasured fantasy series. Kiva, Jaren, Caldon, Tipp, Cresta and the rest of their unlikely allies have tunnelled their way into my heart and I felt so close to them on their quest for the hand of the gods (LOTR vibes!!!), battles (mental and physical) and challenges! 😭
I ADORED where @lynettenoni took us as readers in this third instalment; it was a true feast for my brain and heart to go with and grow with this band of characters. The shocking twists, the heartache and the grief and love in equal measures left me feeling hollowed out and rubbed raw, whilst the ending left me a blubbering mess (see final video in this post!)… Feeling like I’m a part of a group of characters because I’m so immersed within and emotionally connected to a world is something I’ll never stop loving the feeling of, whilst reading. @lynettenoni certainly managed to pull this off in an INCREDIBLE way! 🤯
The last thing I want to mention is the depth that this book has to it. We explore addiction, sexuality, trauma, abuse, friendship, family loyalty and the ending of familial loyalty throughout this fantasy book and it was all done so beautifully, sensitively and in such a relatable way. I’m completely obsessed with those parts of the book because they’re what connects us to characters, I feel. 👏
Welcome to the favourites shelf in my heart, The Prison Healer series. You have most definitely earned your place. 🫶🥹👌
This was just the perfect ending for what is definitely one of my favourite trilogies! Iy was an emotional rollercoaster but I just loved it! I love all the characters so much which definitely boosted my love for this book and I love their relationships with each other. Everything about this book was just perfect… the writing, the plot twists, the quest! This will definitely be up there as one of my favourite reads of the year.
What an amazing time I had with this book.
I felt as though the dynamics between the characters were so real and worked so well. I loved seeing Kiva's journey and how she built relationships with the people around her.
I loved the setting of this story and the locations we experienced.
My favourite part of this book was the cast of characters. Each one was so unique and it was amazing to see these characters interact with each other.
I felt maybe the book started a bit slow but the pace picked up after that and I love the trauma I received as well as seeing the full circle moments in the story.
Amazing end to a fantastic trilogy.
Oh this was absolutely amazing and probably my favourite book in the series. It’s one of those books that you anticipate for so long that it worries you to read it. But that just wasn’t the case in this book. I had so much fun and I’m so happy that I got to read one of my favourite conclusions to now one of my favourite series. 5 incredible stars.
This is the final book in the prison healer series and I am delighted to say it’s as good as every book so far, it’s fast paced and addictive, you really can’t put it down, and its a fitting finale to the series. I loved the fact Noni wove all the loose threads together and answered every missing question. I was so addicted I barely noticed I was and the end and all I wanted to do was read on and I loved that ending, just perfect. If you’ve read the first two you will definitely not be disappointed and if you haven’t, I’m jealous as you have such a treat in store. Absolutely fantastic
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy in return for an honest review
Thank you @hodderscape for sending me an eARC of The Blood Traitor by @lynettenoni to review!
Spoilers for books 1&2 ahead!
This was a fantastic conclusion to The Prison Healer trilogy! It picks up right after the brutal cliffhanger of book 2 and we reunite with a Cresta who was a fringe character in book 1. Kiva’s mental health journey was so well done, I shed many tears after seeing aspects of my own depression in her.
Of course, Kiva and Jarren are eventually reunited and there’s a whole lot of tension now that the secrets are all out. The ups and downs of their relationship were handled really well and some of their scenes had me tearing up.
The side characters stole the show for me in this series! Caldon and Naari were as fantastic as ever bringing humour and wisdom to the group.
Tipp is the sweetest soul and must be protected at all costs. This young boy brought a lightness and innocence to the series that I think this book in particular really needed to balance out the heavier themes. Also I was fully celebrating alongside Tipp when a certain couple finally kissed!
Cresta was my favourite character in this book and I thought her backstory and development were fantastic! I had my suspicions about her and was not disappointed. I’d love a spin-off book or even a bonus chapter from her POV.
Tor and Kiva were reunited as well and it was lovely seeing more of their sibling bond.
Read this instalment for:
• A quest to save the kingdom 🏰
• Second chance romance ❤️
• Healing magic vs. 💀magic
• Forgiveness and found family 💕
• An epic battle 🗡

Wow just wow,
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and it did not disappoint.
Noni notes at the beginning that she touches on multiple triggering theme's included in this book, but they are written with care and consideration throughout.
We pick back up with Kiva back in Zalindov after her sister shows her true colours at the end of book 2 and it's a page turner from the get go. It has everything I think a good book needs, quests, betrayal's, heartbreak, friendship, magic. Book 3 really did not disappoint.
Noni writes in such away that there are constant twists a turns through this book and just when you think you have something figured out, turns out you really don't. We get to see more of the world the story is set in and we also get more time with Caldon and Tipp who I think are now up there in my favourite characters of all time. There were moments where I really wanted to give Kiva and Jaren a good shake and felt so frustrated but Noni once again proves why this series is brilliant and writes their story beautifully.
Kiva goes through such a journey, alone and with the rest of the characters in this book but the way she handles them with the support of the people around her really does make her an amazing heroine. I am shocked to say Cresta becomes one of my favourite people in this story!
Although I am gutted this journey has come to an end, I will most definitely be rereading this series over and over again for years to come
I love this book! Not because it’s the best written, or most unique, book ever. But because it made me genuinely happy, and immersed me to the degree where time just disappeared. I had a fun time while reading, and isn’t that the most important part?
I was a bit worried at the start, since I wasn’t to sure on what direction the story would take, and the pacing felt a bit off. But it got better, and eventually became exactly what I loved from the previous two books. The already established rag-tag gang of misfits expanded, and it was glorious. I love this bunch of misfits so much. Especially when older characters got brought back and now had a proper personality to them. All the characters evolved over the course of the story, and they all felt like they had a role to play in bringing the plot forward.
One thing I enjoyed was the fact that the final battle actually took some time. There was stages to it, and it felt like it actually had a purpose. Because it’s a bit anti-climatic to have a story build up to a battle and then it’s over and done with in only like 10 pages...
The story kept me at the edge of my seat, and it was a well-done finale to the series. No threads felt left hanging, and everything came together. All I wanted to do was continue reading, continue being in this world. It also had a ending that tugged at my feels, without breaking my heart. Because I couldn’t have handled to sad of an ending. I want my happy ever afters!
Considering that every book has been either a 4 or 5 star read, The Prison Healer trilogy is up there with as one of my favourite series ever.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I was approved for this ARC a while back and continuously delayed reading it since it marks the end of one of my favourite series of recent years. Since first reading The Prison Healer last year, Noni has quickly climbed up the ranks as one of my instant buy authors.
Trying my best to savour the end of Kiva's journey, I reread both The Prison Healer and The Gilded Cage before starting and I'm quite glad I did as it made the events of The Blood Traitor, particularly the opening chapters, all the more impactful.
Without sharing spoilers, my heart broke for Kiva throughout this, similar to the emotional turmoil delivered by SJM in Kingdom of Ash. I sobbed through a good portion of this book.If I didn't already know Sarah and Lynette were friends, it would have been evident to me through the clear influence portrayed throughout this series.
Overall, there is SO much to love about this book, and while it's not perfect and there are certain plot points I would have voted against (a least favourite trope of mine pops up), it's still highly engaging, fast paced and I really just adore the cast of characters created.
INCOMING FIVE STAR REVIEW
Have you ever read a series that just hit every single hot spot for you? A Book that met, then surpassed every expectation you had for that book? No? Then you to pick up The Prison Healer series by Lynette Noni in particular, the third and final book of the series The Blood Traitor. You can tell that Lynette Noni the author has put her heart and soul within this book and I have nothing but praise for it.
The Blood Traitor as I have mentioned is the final book in the Prison Healer series, a series that follows our young heroine Kiva Corentine along with a trusty few other characters, *cough cough* Caldon *cough cough*. Book three literally takes off where book two - The Gilded Cage left us, in the dark, screaming NOOOOO WHYYYYY. This I think mirrors the actual ending of The Gilded Cage!
I am going to try to remain spoiler free as possible as I feel that you need to read this book and be surprised by some of what is happening to fully appreciate the writing and the tension that has been built up. I would also highly recommend binge reading this series, you won't regret it at all.
Lets talk characters - ADORE THEM ALL. Honestly in book two I felt like I wanted Kiva to be shoved out of a window to fall to her death as she annoyed me that much - I mean this in a praise worthy way of how she was written BTW. I always feel when I don't like a character they have been written really well and honestly Noni's characters are some of the best I have written. Caldon still to this day remains my favourite in the whole series. He is the cinnamon roll you all talk about - the one that you fall in love with, the golden retriever of the group.
We also got some new characters in this book as well, with Ashlyn and Cresta. Yes I know they have been mentioned in the other books but their characters are developed more in this one and you will not be sorry let me tell you. The interactions between Cresta and the group honestly made me smile every time, her interactions bring light to some of the tenser moments. Can't go on to the next part without mentioning Jaren, he wasn't my favourite in this book like he was in the others. I mean I get it, but I felt that he was just a bit of a meanie in this one - again you need to read it to appreciate what I am going on about.
The book is fast paced as the others and grips you straight back into the story. There is a quest in this book and I found that it made my heart race thinking that they would be able to get what they needed to defeat the villains of the story and let me tell you there are some villains in this story.
The book is my favourite one of the year, it is 100% a five star read from me. It had tension, magic, romance, light-heartedness, villains, heroines and heroes - but mainly heroines as well as Hope. Honestly I did not know what to do with myself once I finished this book, I could not pick up another book straight away which is what I normally do.
Massive congratulations to Lynette Noni for this outstanding finale in what I feel is an outstanding YA fantasy series. One that I will 100% go back to and reread, it will become a new comfort read for sure.
After the crushing and all-changing ending in The Gilded Cage, the series about Kiva Meridan continues. The place her sister sent her to is not unknown to Kiva, but it does bring back her most terrifying memories. The time she has to spend there is anything but pleasant, but luckily there’s someone unexpected to help her. From the moment the story starts, the tension is already there. Kiva has lost a lot and is about to lose even more. The future seems hopeless, but every now and then there’s something that chases the dark away. The author’s trigger warning at the beginning of the book is not misplaced.
When Kiva is reunited with her family and friends, things turn out to be anything but merry. No one can look at each other the same as before. These changes create a completely different atmosphere in the story. Not entirly unknown, because the seriousness, the fear and the sadness are just a part of Kiva’s story and they remain that way. Yet the author manages to potray these feelings in a different way in each book, but they seem to reach rock bottom in The Blood Traitor.
Fortunately, there is the distraction from the quest that Kiva undertakes with everyone else. There is a greater danger than they ever could have imagined, and that has everything to do with ancient magic and its secrets. With royal heirs as companions and magic at their fingertips, the group gathers enough information te devise a plan and save Evalon from destruction. But fort hat, Kiva, her friends, family and even the antagonists of the story have to make sacrifices. When all those elements come together, it becomes clear how wel Lynette Noni’s entire trilogy is put together.
The writing style is phenomenal, intense and draws the reader into every chapter, every sentence, every word. Although a second perspective could certainly have added somethign extra, it was not really necessary. The amazing forms of magic, the intrigue, personal developments and of course the well-known plot twists ensure that the story doesn’t fall short on hardly anything. The characters are also very strong. Everyone has his or her own voice, habits and secrets. Plus the developments that they go through ensures a great deal of depth. That’s why every reader can pick at least one or more favorite characters.
The Blood Traitor is a fantastic and incredibly exciting, magical and phenomenal conclusion to the Prison Healer series.
I’m not sure I can even put into words how much I loved this book and this series.
I reread The Prison Healer and The Gilded Cage before diving in but I still wasn’t ready for this.
I went in so nervous because the end of a series is hard but this book was perfect.
I won’t discuss the plot because spoilers but I’m just completely obsessed with the characters. Have there ever been a more loveable bunch?! They’re flawed and so very human and that’s what makes them so perfect.
Caldon and Tipp have my entire heart but so do they all!
I just want to immediately start the series again but my heart needs a break first.
Well, wow. I loved this.
I have to say after reading "The Prison Healer" in one go, I didn't enjoy "The Gilded Cage" very much, it was quite suffocating and maddening but it finished with the biggest clifhanger, that was quite suffocating as well, and I found myself diying to keep reading.
"The Bood Traitor" have the right balance of heartache and happy times. We embark in a quest through all the kingdoms, in seach for a way to defeat Zuleeka and Navok. we have new characters and a old one (Cresta!!) That joins in the adventure. It was great to finally meet Eidran, he is lovely but to be honest is completely expendable and I can only hope that the reason he is in this book is because we will be hearing more from him. There is some information about this world and beyond that makes an spin of of this story a possibility that I hope become a reality.
I really loved the ending I think is perfection and I fear this world and this characters will remain in my mind for a very long time.
The Prison Healer (TPH) was a 5 ⭐️ read for me, as was The Gilded Cage (TGC) - I adored both books so much, that I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit nervous going into the final book. I had so many questions - would I get the ending I wanted? What’s going to happen to my favourites? Would it be as good as I was hoping? Would it do justice to the first two books? Could we possibly get more books?
I shouldn’t have worried though as this book was just as tremendous as the first two 😍
I’m going to keep my review spoiler free so that people can enjoy this amazing book (and trilogy) for themselves but I will talk about why I loved it.
This book made me feel so much - happy, sad, shocked and infuriated, there were so many twists and turns, some expected and some definitely unexpected.
Kiva has been through so much throughout this series and after the way TGC ended, I was worried about what was to come for her. Despite what she’s been through though she is a survivor and she fights for what she believes in and for what is right. She also fights with everything she’s got for the people she loves, and I think for those reasons she is a leading lady that we can all relate to. Her bravery and determination is honest and true.
Jaren is the leading man we all want: kind, loving, genuine, brave, honourable, strong and loyal. Throw in the fact that he’s pretty kick-ass and devilishly handsome and he’s just about perfect. He is absolutely one of my favourite characters in this story and in any other book he probably would have been my absolute favourite male character but unfortunately for Jaren, Caldon exists. Caldon is hands down my favourite character and I’m certain I won’t be alone in feeling like that. I adored him pretty much from his first introduction in book two and that didn’t change reading The Blood Traitor. If anything it strengthened how much I love him. Everything about his character was *chef’s kiss* perfect 😍
The fantastic characters are what elevate this series to such a high level for me, as well as those already mentioned we have Tipp, Naari, Tor and Ashlyn but it was Cresta that I adored the most. Her no nonsense attitude and banter with everyone made me laugh so many times - she is brilliant!!
As with the first two books, the world building and story telling is fantastic. So intricate and well written. I really enjoyed getting to see more of Wenderall and the different kingdoms within it, as well as getting a brief look at their rulers. I really hope we get more books set in this world as there’s so much left to explore - the Midnight Markets in particular would make a fascinating read, I’m sure. I did at one point think that I would not be picking anything up by this author again, as she nearly did the unthinkable (when you get there, you’ll know what I mean) but she has definitely cemented herself as an auto-buy author for me!
This book, and in fact the whole series, is brilliant. A great example of why, despite not being the intended age, I love reading YA/NA fantasy. If like me you are a huge fan of magic, adversity and romance, then I’m sure you won’t be disappointed if you pick up these books.
No question - 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
BOOK REVIEW: The Blood Traitor by @lynettenoni
5 Stars
Wow.
I have no words.
Lynette Noni has consistently blown my socks off and made The Prison Healer one of my all time favourite series! I have loved every single second and I am so incredibly happy with how insanely good this final installment is but also heartbroken that it has come to an end!
I am not giving away ANYTHING in this review. Just know that I loved every word and that somehow the worldbuilding, magic, storyline and characters get EVEN BETTER. Which I didn't think was possible.
These characters have my whole heart. Kiva is such a brave and caring young woman and her journey through this series but especially this book had me in tears and I rarely cry with books! I adore her! Jaren has half my heart because it is equally shared with Caldon who possibly may even get the slightly larger half. He is JUST SO FUNNY! Also if I could give any character ever a hug it would be Tipp! This book has many more new characters and more of some lesser used characters which I LOVED.
Lynette Noni's writing is as brilliant as ever and the twists and turns had me feeling dizzy, especially two HUGE plot twists that I did NOT see coming!!!
Basically. READ THIS SERIES. You will not regret it.
And to Lynette Noni - Thank you! And please can we now have an Eidran spin off as I feel this mysterious man REALLY deserves his own books!
Phew. What a series!
Please note that I was #gifted this ebook in exchange for an honest review.
*There may be some spoilers of the first and second book in this review*.
I loved this book. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could! This was such a great series I kind of want to re-read it already.
The characters in this series are so loveable I can't even decide on who is my favourite. Kiva is a great main character, and the emotional struggle she goes through in this book is so interesting. The ending of The gilded cage had me screaming and it was so interesting to see how it went in this book. I think she has perfect character development and arc, although I don't want to spoil the plot so I won't say much more on this. The ending comes full circle in the best way and I was not disappointed by the end of this series at all. Jaren is a great book boyfriend, although I was hoping to see a faster reconciliation between him and Kiva than I got. It was a very slow burn, lots of pining, sort of romance.
I am in love with every single side character in their new found-family (also LOVE that trope). Cresta? A surprising addition to the group who I grew to love very quickly considering I didn't like her much in the first book. Caldon? WOW I love this man he's so funny. Tipp? The baby of the group and I loved his struggle with accepting Kiva again. We also finally got to meet Ashlyn after only hearing her mentioned in the previous books, and I love her character. I also liked Torr, he struggled with their sisters deceit but I liked seeing him interact with the group, although I would've liked to have seen a little bit more of him. I really enjoyed the relationships between all of these characters, especially romantic ones that I did not see coming.
Now the plot. I don't want to say too much because of spoilers, but we know that Zuleeka is the villain from book 2. It was crazy to see the extent of what she had done and her battle for power. The light healing magic and the dark death magic was very interesting and I loved how Kiva never once considered using the dark magic, even when she was in difficult situations. The quest in this book was really interesting, although I knew it wasn't going to be as easy as it seemed. The twists in this were perfect, and by the end I was very satisfied with what had happened and how it ended.
Overall, this was the perfect ending to this series and I would definitely re-read this series because I loved it a lot. I would definitely recommend this to everyone, I can't think of anything I didn't like about it. I am so glad I got the chance to read this on netgalley before it was released.
How my messages to my friend went:
I adore Ashlyn
I think this series is now an all time favourite (I was about 40% in)
I liked the no messing around bit with Navok - here’s a tornado wielder
Can Jaren sort his life out please
Everyone else has forgiven Kiva
Jaren did the exact opposite and was an arse 👍🏻
Him saying she made him fall in love with a lie and they’ll part ways after she defeats her sister
Also 62% and they haven’t got a second ring yet
THERE ARE FOUR (I have 0 patience, had this been a hard copy I would've read the back page first)
Oh my heart. Her angeldust induced little ramble. This book is determined to make me cry (I don't cry at books)
CALDON 😭😭😭😭😭😭
CRESTA YOU MAGNIFICENT WOMAN
This book has continuously given me goosebumps
He’s aliveeeee
The Mystician was a good character too
Bye bye Rooke
That was excellent
This series has had me in a chokehold since TPH. I've really fallen out of love with fantasy recently but have spent the last 24 hours binging TBT to completion. I don't tend to cry at books but I was on the brink multiple times with the last instalment, it's hard to put into words the emotional rollercoaster Lynette Noni has managed to craft. Thank you Hodder for sending me a Netgalley widget - it's by far one of the best books i've read this year!
Now off to force more of my friends to invest...
★★★★★
Okay genuinely, this has become one of my favourite conclusions to a series ever.
*SPOILERS*
Watching Kiva battle her demons alongside Cresta broke my heart, she deserved NONE of that. And Cresta helping her?! Okay queen, pop OFF. The friendship we never knew we needed. Cresta was simply hilarious, I’m so mad we didn’t get more of her in the previous 2 books, and her FAMILY STORYLINE?! Lynette, how could you? I need a book on Cresta right NOW.
Jaren, Jaren, Jaren *eye roll*. I love this man, truly I do, but also… chill out?? Like, Kiva obvs is obsessed with you, and you were SO MEAN!!! She was just trying to do what she thought was right for her family, and didn’t have the full story, AND YOU JUST TOLD HER YOU WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH HER AND BROKE HER LITTLE HEART?! NO. I’m so cross, but you redeemed yourself, so I’ll forgive you, but you better give Kiva the world and more else I’ll kick off.
Caldon is honestly my favourite character in this entire series, he knows everything, he is SO funny, I’m in love brb. He adores Kiva so much, it hurts me, their relationship is so lush considering they both lost SO much. Nope imma cry again:(( I love u Cal bby<3
Honorary mention of Tipp - the little boy who made me sob, saved the day, and shattered my heart. I love you, like I love my nephew. Thanku Lynette for not harming the lil baby boy<3
Okay everyone go read these books right now, I mean it. Go.
Headlines:
Trope check goodness
Unforgiveable?
Page-turner
I am so incredibly sad this series is over but then I couldn't help race-reading this because it was so unputdownable. Picking up immediately where we were so cruelly left at the end of The Gilded Cage, this installment rushed at my brain like a whirlwind, grabbed me and wouldn't let go.
Jaren, Jaren, Jaren, Kiva, Kiva, Kiva. Oh the longings, the emotions, the hurt, it was a lot of everything and at this point, I was so invested in this couple that I had to let out the breath I didn't know I was holding (I'm just messing with you) when they were on the page. The plot was so rich with found family goodness, I simply adored the cast of characters that found themselves on a quest. Tripp was a little more in the background but he still brought light when he was there.
It was so good to finally see the Corentine-Vallentis and other royal family stories go full circle, finding answers to series plot points and Noni delivered so well on these elements. Nothing was rushed, everything was carefully crafted and the journey readers have been taken on felt so worthy of these three books.
Also that last line of the book...precious.
I could definitely read a novella epilogue for these characters, pretty please?
Thank you to Hodder Books for the eARc and the ride!
*** Warning! This is the third and final installment of The Prison Healer trilogy so be aware that the following review may contain spoilers regarding the two previous books. And if you haven’t read The Prison Healer yet: It’s an amazing trilogy and you should definitely check it out! ***
So, where do I even begin with this one? What a journey it has been. I remember reading The Prison Healer for the first time and being completely ecstatic over having discovered yet another amazing author in Lynette Noni. Little did I know that her books would completely wreck me. Don’t take me wrong, I’ve loved every single second of reading this trilogy and how I wish I could read it for the first time all over again.
But the ending of The Gilded Cage, I mean, how could I not be completely and utterly wrecked by such a cliffhanger?! So, after waiting an entire year you can only imagine how excited I was when I finally got to read The Blood Traitor.
In retrospect, I have to admit that The Blood Traitor was more than worth waiting for. It’s the epic and thrilling conclusion to an equally epic trilogy we all waited for. I rarely find the third book in a trilogy to be as good as the first book but The Blood Traitor is an exception. Because I honestly like this book even more than The Prison Healer. I enjoyed reading The Prison Healer and I loved reading The Gilded Cage even more and I did not think for a moment that The Blood Traitor could top everything that happened in The Gilded Cage. I was wrong. So incredibly wrong, because it seems like Lynette Noni once again has outdone herself when it comes to story telling.
Okay, so now on to the actual book:
Kiva has come a long way since her days as the prison healer at Zalindov, the notorious death prison where she spent ten years of her life. Where she watched first her father and then her mother die.
She’s come a long way and yet she’s come nowhere at all. For when The Blood Traitor begins Kiva’s escape from Zalindov is but a painful memory. After all she’s done, everything she’s been through, Kiva still ends up back in the very place of her nightmares.
The Blood Traitor tells the story of how Kiva reaches absolute rock bottom. The story of how she falls so far into herself that the story could have ended right were it began, within the walls of Zalindov. And then, the story of how she fights her way back up. One small step at a time. I love how Lynette Noni has managed to depict such dark and painful feelings in such a real and relatable way. And I especially love how there’s always some humor and lighthearted scenes, even in the darkest of times.
This is, in my opinion, the best book in the trilogy and I truly wish I could give it more than five stars (it deserves at least 7 out of 5).
|| Thank you so much to Hodder & Stoughton for providing me with an eARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review! ||
4.5/5 ⭐
Thanks to Netgalley and Publisher for providing the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Plot:
The story kicks off exactly where it left off. Kiva has to survive to fix all her mistakes. She has no time to mourn her losses or let the physical or psychological pain consume her. There's a war brewing but it is beyond what she imagined and it's time for her to go on a new quest to stop dangerous power from overthrowing all the kingdoms reuniting with all she betrayed even when odds are against her.
My thoughts:
The book is extremely fast paced with full of action with back to back events. Every single character contributed to the story significantly and there was never a dull moment. Almost every character face numerous trials, goes through so much pain enduring horrible things one cannot digest but at last all of them get what they deserve. Not only the story brings back all the favorite characters from previous books, it also brings new dimension for other characters as well. The found family was just everything one could ask for. That said, as this is the last book in the series (where there cannot be a cliffhanger), we get to see all the shocking twists and turns throughout the book. Some twists could be guessed a mile away but there are some absolutely jaw dropping shocking events. So, the book will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. I wish Jaren had been involved earlier in the action considering his mature character from the previous books but sure he gives his reasons. The romance quotient seems significantly lesser as the story comes to an end with this book.
There are some trigger warnings you should be aware of like drugs, addiction, withdrawals, suicidal thoughts, horrific deaths.

This review may contain spoilers.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley, however, this in no way influenced my opinion. Thank you to the publisher Hodder and Stoughton for providing me with a copy.
This is one of my most anticipated releases of this year and I was thrilled to receive an ARC and I’m happy to say that this was an incredible ending to this series, and I loved it. I’m always apprehensive going into the final book in a series and seeing how the author decides to wrap everything up but, in my opinion, this was the perfect ending to this series. From the very beginning of this novel, I was completely drawn in and engaged with the plot and throughout I was completely gripped and wanted to know what would happen next. One of my favourite aspects of this novel was the plot twists, the first two books in this series had so many incredible and unpredictable twists and this final book was no different. The reveal about Cresta in particular shocked me and I think it was such a great twist. There was also a twist involving Caldon (I don’t want to give too many spoilers away) that had me so heartbroken and then there was another twist that had me so relieved. I will say the twist about Galdric didn’t really shock me as I never trusted his character. Another aspect I loved about this book and series, in general, is the characters, I love our main character Kiva so much she’s determined and fierce and her journey throughout these books has been so heart-breaking. Caldon is another character that I love so much, I love his sarcasm and I loved the friendship between him and Kiva.
Overall, this was a fantastic final novel in the YA Fantasy series ‘The Prison Healer’ that drew me in from the very beginning and had shocking plot twists.
The Blood Traitor is the last book in The Prison Healer series, and this fantastic, thrilling, mind-blowing series has ended. With an ache in my heart, I say that this series is now over. I didn't want it to end. I didn't want to leave the world. I wanted to spend more time with the characters and experience them.
The previous book, The Gilded Cage, ended in a torturous cliffhanger, and The Blood Traitor takes off right after that incident, where Kiva is back in that "prison from hell," the Zalindov prison. But she got out by some stroke of luck (I wouldn't call it luck, but still). It was an immense relief, but it was short-lived. The whole time, Kiva thought how much she would be hated by the people she had started to call her family. But she was ready to face them and ask for forgiveness. But making things right might not be the only thing she has to do. The kingdom is on the brink of a terrible war, a war that's bigger than any war they've ever faced, with the entire world at stake. Kiva is an integral part of helping to win the war.
And there is a deadly quest that may just give them an upper hand in the war. My heart's racing.
The Blood Traitor, like the previous books, is fast-paced and action-packed. The flow was relatively smooth, and the fast pace made it a quick read. It just keeps you wanting more and more. Some plot twists were subtle, but then there were the "ripping your heart out" ones that just make your eyes burn with unshed tears. The book is immensely immersive. It will grab hold of you and won't let you go any time soon. Seriously, the grip this whole series has on me is tight.
Every single character in this book is just perfect.
When I think about Kiva, my first thought is that I would do anything for her. Just think, a villain starts to consider their enemy as their family, all the while falling in love with the golden prince of the enemy kingdom. This is nothing short of a gut-wrenching fairy tale. I was scared for Kiva after the way The Gilded Cage ended. I didn't know what to think. This "not knowing" feeling became an unscratchable itch. Reading about her struggles and pains just made me want to scream into a pillow. Her acceptance, her willpower, her love, her patience, her resilience, and her heartache all contributed to forming who she became in the end. She is someone who is flawed, someone who made mistakes, someone who took a different path when everyone else told her to take the one she was supposed to. Kiva is such a beautiful character, and reading her story has been excellent.
Now comes our golden prince. Jaren. Jaren!!! How can you not love this man?! He is perfect. My heart broke piece by piece because of his anguish. All the pain that he hid behind the wall he built around himself. I wish I had his point of view, but even through Kiva's eyes, there was so much there. With everything that had happened to him, he still kept his head held high and was the prince his kingdom needed. He constantly made me feel so many things throughout the book and the series that I kept falling head over heels. *chef kisses*
Caldon, my love. He has taken over my mind, body, and soul. I love love his personality. He is just the best mixture of sarcastic, adorable, sexy, caring, loving; I could go on and on... The list is endless. I love him so much. He is my favorite character in this entire series. He trumps everyone. Caldon is the guy who would wake up in the middle of the night to help you hide the body of the person you murdered. He will always support you. He has this thing where you can't help but tell him everything about you, even your deep dark secrets, and instead of judging you, he becomes your biggest support.
Tipp is, and always will be, that little ray of sunshine that lights up the darkest of darks. In this book, he continued to shine through all the darkness that was thrown at him. Tipp is so strong and smart. I love the role he plays in this book, and I tell you, what he did near the end of the book was incredible, and I am so in awe of him.
The reappearance of Cresta in this book was unimaginable. Of course, I expected her to be in Zalindov when Kiva was sent back, but I didn't anticipate her helping Kiva and literally holding her together like she did. Kiva and Cresta becoming friends was something I never thought would happen, but here it is, and honestly, I admire her. She may be rough on the outside, but she has a gooey center.
Finally, in this book, we get to meet Ashlyn, Caldon's sister. She is definitely someone I would love to be best friends with. I loved her character. I loved how she is, her strength, and the fire she has within her.
This book… this book!! This book has a special place in my heart and is my favorite in the series. The entire series feels like you're driving a race car, racing with other drivers. You're almost there. Just another couple of laps, and you win. But then a car slams into you. Hard. You go off track, hit the wall, flip over but land right side up. You do hit your head a little bit, but you shake it off and keep on driving cause you are back to being number one, and you cross the finish line, you win. I have a lot of feelings about this book, which somewhat explains what they were. This was a big rollercoaster ride, not the normal ones... This was a big one.
The thrill and the action will take your breath away. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. It will hurt you, and then it will also heal you. Here, the plot is more than the romance, and as someone who loves to read books with romance front and center, I liked that it was in the background. The longing glances, the tension, the slow burn, the final heated confession near the end of the book; I will gobble these up. This is why I love reading fantasy. The story is front and center while the romance slowly builds in the background.
After reading this trilogy, I will forever love Lynette Noni. I loved her writing. I loved that the characters were flawed and not perfect. I was able to connect with them on a deeper level. This book has taken a piece of my heart and stored it between its pages.
I loved, loved, loved this series, and I will keep on recommending it until everyone has read it.
When I saw this available on Netgalley to read I just had to get it as I absolutely adored the first 2 books in this series and had to find out what happened ASAP!
And this last installment did not disappoint. Such an easy 5 star read.
They way that the story was written really had me not wanting to put it down. Just as you think you know how things will play out, another twist comes that I just didn't expect.
I think I experienced most emotions when reading this book and having now finished this series, I would have to say its my favourite series of all time.
If you haven't read this series go and pick it up now!
A perfect ending. That's pretty much all I can say!
It was a excellent final book to a trilogy I grew to love so much. Several characters have a place in my heart forever and I felt that the reactions of the characters to certain events were so realistic and therefore heartbreaking at times. There were tears and laughter and I loved every minute.
I couldn't have wanted any more from this final instalment.
It's always a worry that a series won't hold it's momentum, especially when it starts as strong as The Prison Healer did. No such concerns here, this trilogy is so well paced, that you won't know a moment of peace from start to finish.
There's a ton of action in this book, and the pacing means we don't linger anywhere too long. Kiva becomes the strongest version of herself throughout the course of the action, and I'm so pleased that we get more of our favourite side characters. Seeing the strength of Kiva and Caldon's friendship, Tipp is adorable as usual, more of our favourite badass Naari, we finally get to meet Caldon's sister Ashlyn, and honestly I think Cresta was my favourite in this book.
There's a good measure of heartbreak as with all of Lynette Noni's books, but the overwhelming theme of women can do this helps temper the despair.
I'll be recommending this trilogy to everyone!

Kiva is back where it all began and with nothing to show for it but a broken heart and a battered will. But she soon finds an unlikely ally who helps her to build herself back up again. With the kingdoms ready for war, uneasy allies and mortal enemies must join together to save Wenderall from destruction and complete a dangerous quest. The lives of everyone Kiva loves are at stake and she must master her magic and take a stand if they have any chance of survival.

This was everything I've ever wanted from a trilogy finale! When I say I adored this book I mean I was physically laughing, crying, smiling, swooning, whooping and cheering throughout! My husband thought I was going mad 😅😂 it sumed up all my questions and gave us the ending we deserve for such a fantastic trilogy. The page time dedicated to our favourites was perfect - including two extra characters, one of which near stole the show with their humour! This has been one of the best fantasy series I've read in a while! Hats off to Lynette Noni for bringing us this world and these characters! I loved reading her honest words in her acknowledgement section too - let me reiterate for you Lynette... This book, and series, rocked! Thank you to Hodderscape and NetGalley for the ARC.

"We’re in this together, Sunshine. You and me..."
What an epic conclusion to a brilliant fantasy series. With this last book I can honestly say, this is one of my favourites, which I will be recommending to everyone.
I loved how every single book in this trilogy added an extra level to all aspects of the plot. We got more world building in the last book with the characters going on a quest through different kingdoms and countries. The relationships, romantic and platonic, developed steadily throughout the series, and reached a clear, yet in some cases tragic, ending. The angst in this book made my heart hurt, and I may have shed a tear or two... Who am I kidding, I ugly cried, more than once!
Anyway, this is how a young adult fantasy series should be written, and I cannot wait to read more from this author!
The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni is the third and final book in The Prison Healer Series. I binged this entire series in two days and I’m just so in love with this story and characters. Each book in the series just gets better and better and it’s for sure one of my new favorite fantasy series.
All the characters are so dear to my heart now and they grow together as a family and I loved that so much. Kiva is such a strong character and you can only admire her. Jaren is not only the prince of the people, but he truly is such a good guy. Tipp is the little brother everyone needs and he does some unexpected and admirable things in this book. Naari is such a vital part of the team and not only in protecting everyone, but also being a true friend. Caldon is the best and he could call me sunshine any day. You also get to meet Ashlyn and I loved her as well. Torell has a bit of a redemption arc in this one, but the most surprising person was Cresta and she is one of my new favorite characters.
Next to those amazing characters, the plot is also enthralling and keeps me on the edge of my seat as they have to face quite some challenges. There is for example a heist after some ancient rings and that brings them even closer together. In addition, the Zalindov prison is brought up again and that drew the connection to book one and rounded the story off very well.
Overall, The Blood Traitor is fantasy at its best and I can only recommend everyone to read this incredible series. If I could I would even give this book more than five stars.

I honestly don’t think Lynette Noni can do anything wrong in this series. This final book is the trilogy is yet another hit that had me gasping, laughing and swooning in equal measure.
I absolutely loved being back in this universe with Kiva and the gang and getting to explore Cresta more as a character was an added bonus. Just like with the other two books this one is fast paced with SO MANY stressful moments but it all culminates in a satisfying conclusion.
I really don’t have much else to say except to shout about this entire series from the rooftops. It is definitely one of my favourite fantasy trilogies and I love all the characters (especially Jaren because *swoon*) and I am just so so glad that the third book was as good as the other two.
After having loved the first books in this trilogy, I was overjoyed to receive a copy of the Blood Traitor. I couldn't wait to see how this trilogy would conclude, and for me it definitely didn't disappoint.
This series had a little bit of everything I love in a fantasy novel, interesting and attention grabbing world building, a suspenseful plot and a slowburn romance. It was was always going to be a winner for me! I've loved seeing the series develop and how emotionally connected I became to the characters, Kiva, Jaren, Caldon and Tipp will always be favourites of mine!
The are some heavier topics dealt with this in this one, which I felt were handled very realistically and delicately and again bolstered the true strength that Kiva possesses.
The arc in this novel gave her story the perfect conclusion. I can honestly say I wouldn't have predicted the ending when I began reading this one, which is something I absolutely adored! I think I'll be rereading this series at some point in the not too distant future!
I would highly recommend picking this one up if you are a fan of YA fantasy!
Where do I even START with my love for this book, this series?
Lynette Noni - you have quickly climbed the ranks as one of my absolute favourite authors and thank you, thank you, thank you for writing what is easily one of my favourite series ever now.
The Blood Traitor was fantasy perfection. It’s got absolutely everything. Magic, drama, intrigue, romance, friendship, PINING… oh my god the pining! The twists and turns are immaculate.
These characters have my whole heart. Kiva is an absolute star. I adore her. Her heart, her conscience, her love for her friends and family… she’s a remarkable young woman and I would just die for her.
Jaren. Oh lovely Jaren. What’s not to love about Jaren? He’s a fantasy book boyfriend dream. Handsome, strong brave, kind, caring, loyal. Ugh.
Caldon, Tipp, Naari? All chefs kiss characters.
There’s even a surprising change of personality for another character who quickly becomes a favourite too and is definitely one of the most MVPs in the book!
I am so satisfied by this ending. I’m so sad to see this series finished.
Please read these books if you love YA fantasy. You won’t regret it.
