Description
"Serenity Heights is the twisted saga of a once-popular but not burned-out shock jock, "Rockin' Donnie" Derringer as he settles into career purgatory working the graveyard shift at a tiny classic rock radio station in Deerhead, Minnesota.
Donnie sustains his boring small-town life with pot, alcohol and peanut butter, but when he makes a drunken late-night suicide call to his sometime girlfriend, Liz, he winds up in Deerhead's loon hatch, Serenity Heights. Adventure ensues."
"Meanwhile, the chameleon game show host Jerry Most returns from Zaferos's first novel, Poison Pen, and he wants Donnie to appear on his new show "Losers on Parade."
Donnie figures an appearance on Most's show will rejuvenate his moribund career, only to have disaster fall upon him. Serenity Heights is a wild tale of what happens when you take the shortcut to regain fame.
"Serenity Heights has been called a "gut-wrenchingly great read" by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Thomas Peele. Florida journalist Jerry Stockfisch said Serenity Heights "deftly balances the inherent disappointments of life with dark humor."
"Zaferos's first novel, Poison Pen, was called "funny, outrageously so" by Milwaukee journalist and book critic Dave Luhrssen. Although the character Jerry Most appears in both novels, they are not part of a series and can be read as stand-alone books.
"Zaferos, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a masters degree from Marquette University, is a Milwaukee native who lives in Dunedin, Florida.

Serenity Heights

I loved the book. I now have to go the part 1, Poison Pen. I was very happy to get this as an arc for an honest review. I loved books that make you jump into the book...and feel. I did indeed feel how life makes you who you are, It was one you cannot lightly, it grabs you with honest truths and humor hiding the pain. Brilliantly written. Thank you, NetGalley, and Books Go Social for the privage to read Serenity Heights in arc form for my honest opinion.
