Description
In a remote village, on the edge of a corrupt empire, Minna Hunter wakes one day to find small orbs of light flitting through the trees. But Minna's delight at finding she has spirit sight soon turns to despair. In the Empire, communing with spirits is punishable by death. Branded a witch, she resigns herself to a lonely existence.
When her sister, Alyn, gains spirit sight, Minna promises her she will never leave her alone. But titanic forces are at play, forces with Minna and Alyn's fates in mind. When the Inquisition captures Alyn, Minna must leave her small life and step onto history's grand stage.
In the Inquisition prison, Alyn learns she must choose between serving her captors against her own people or die. Meanwhile, Minna evades agents of the Inquisition and discovers her world is not what she believes it to be. To save her sister, she must master her spirit song, grasp her destiny and become the heroine her people need.
Spirit Sight by Ross Hightower is the first novel in the Spirit Song trilogy. Mythic in scope, yet intimate and engaging, this is a story that will draw you in and won't let go.

Thank you NetGalley for a chance to read Spirit Sight.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I loved Minna and Alyn’s character development and the paths they follow in this book. I loved the magic system, the multiple POV’s, the world building, everything. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Thank you, NetGalley for the advanced copy of Spirt Sight.
I really enjoyed the world building and cast of characters in Spirit Sight. The magic system was incredibly unique and the lore was really interesting.
I am looking forward to the next installment, but have to be honest that I struggled with the pacing of this book. It was a lot all at once and I felt it could have benefited from deeper character development upfront instead of being thrown into various political, religious, and social issues.
Overall this was a good read and I did have fun with it!
Minna wakes up one morning to see small orbs of light in the trees. She finds that this supposedly makes her a witch. She knows that she must live by herself at her own little house. Why is she consider a witch? When her sister Alyn gains spirit sight, Minna assures her that she will never leave her alone. The Inquisition captures Alyn and puts her in prison. She is given a choice that she must choose. She must serve her captors against her people or die. Minna has evaded the inquisition agents and learns the world is not what she though it was. To be able to save Alyn, she must master her spirit song, grab her destiny and a heroine for her people. Will Minna be successful?
The author has written a fantasy that held my attention even though it was a rather long book to read. There is a list of characters and Alle’oss pronunciation, Included is a chapter of “Argren Blue” that predates the time of “Spirit Sight.” I liked reading the first volume of the series “Spirit Song Trilogy.”
