On Majesty, the world of fortresses, floating platforms, and walkways, gone is the age of mana-wielding heroes and heroines fighting monsters and sorcerers. Gone is the age of barbaric male warriors when Warlord Aerol trained his best into organised soldiers, founded the Lonely Fortress, met a half-monster like him, Inde, and fell in love.

Now, the Lonely Fortress no longer feels like Aerol’s seat of power, or personal refuge. Inde has separated from him, causing his ties with his most loyal to suffer. Assassination has reared its ugly head with snakes in a jar. Is Inde a traitor? Scholars and civilians usurp his power, discontent and fearing poverty. Aerol’s old friend, Warlord Grin, is bewitched. Everything points towards a dreaded sorcerer Aerol refuses to believe is real.

The mega-fortress, he’s determined, is the be-all and end-all of his hopes, his and Grin’s salvation. Only, no-one has ever entered it.
