The perfect weekend away. A remote lodge, old friends... and murder.

Set in a remote Scottish lodge in the depths of winter, this explosive and disturbing thriller asks what happens when dark secrets finally come to light.

When a group of female friends gather at a beautiful but isolated Scottish island lodge for a weekend away, they're looking forward to relaxing, sharing updates on their lives, reminiscing...

The furthest thing from their minds is death. But even though they've known each other since high school, some of these women have secrets. Dark secrets that can ruin friendships, ruin marriages – ruin lives.

Things you thought you knew and loved can turn out to be your biggest nightmares. And when recriminations start to fly, it soon becomes clear: it's not a question of when, but if, these old friends will ever make it home again...

A weekend getaway for a group of friends at a remote Scottish lodge turns deadly. The small group of women, who were known as the Owl Society in their school days, turn out to be more enemies than friends these days, but they have to pull together when one of the friends picks up a hitchhiker with deadly intentions while en route to the lodge. Atmospheric and moody, this was a tense but enjoyable listen

Thank you Saga Egmont Audio and Netgalley for this audio.

It was a long listening, many names, many things happening. The atmosphere in the reunion was bot really nice between them but was perfect for this season. Sure also scary and a mix of guilt and all bad things in one but done so well.. and going there with real friends would be really wonderful

I read a physical galley of this and wanted to test out the audiobook narrator and I have to say the narrator does a great job of giving off that thriller ambiance.

“All of the accommodations, none of the substance. That’s you.”

As a disabled person, this is my new favorite insult.

This book was honestly so much fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end! In another story I may have been rooting for the demon tbh. But in this setting, heck no. We want (most) of the characters to live!

You’re probably not going to love a lot of the characters but that’s part of it. That’s how life is when people who were connected at one point are now completely different people with different lives and who would never be in each other’s lives otherwise.

I will def be reading from this author again!

The audio book narrator was absolutely 🤌🏻🤌🏻

Side note: this book gave me themed nightmares last night so you know it’s a good one! Probably my second favorite thriller/horror of the year!
