Description

Real Housewives fans will devour this debut that simmers with discontent and deceit’ Liz Alterman, author of The Perfect Neighborhood

Keep your friends close and your neighbours closer . . .

Ciara has it all – a loving husband, well-behaved children and an immaculate home. But behind the filters, her reality is far from what it seems.

Mishti is stuck in a loveless marriage, raising her daughter in a country that is too cold, among children who look nothing like her.

Lauren is mostly happy, despite being outcast for her woo-woo beliefs and her kids who run naked, wild and free.

But then Ciara is found murdered in her pristine home and suddenly everyone is a suspect.

Hushed whispers, secret rendezvous and bloody betrayals . . . Even husbands are fair game.

Because everyone has their dirty laundry, and this goes beyond gossip.

This is all-out war.

From a talented new voice in fiction, Dirty Laundry is a deliciously scandalous page-turner about the dark side of suburbia. Disha expertly peels back the layers of Ciara’s insta-perfect life to reveal friendships gone rotten, manipulation masquerading as love and families riddled with lies . . .

Really enjoyed this book. The dynamics are well laid out between the different characters and Bose gives space to let the relationships grow, adding in more and more detail to form a picture that keeps you guessing constantly. All the characters are flawed but they are also well developed and you fully buy into their motivations. I think this will be huge for fans for Liane Moriarty where a claustrophobic suburban setting causes deadly actions. A brill debut.

I really enjoyed this read, it was a quick and easy read with a writing style that I liked, a story that gripped me the whole way through and characters that were well developed and just kept developing as I was reading. The characters were all reltable and believeable as they all had flaws/issues - and lets be real who of us doesn't. I couldn't put it down and I wanted to read more of this authors writing as soon as this one finsihed. I can't wait to see what comes next.

A completely absorbing and relatable portrayal of female life and friendships. I loved all three lead female characters and found each of their stories incredibly gripping and well developed. I loved the way the secrets slowly unravelled as the story went on and the pace was perfect. I particularly loved the ending, tragic for all three characters but powerful. Bose is a great new voice that I can't wait to see more of.

What a fabulous book! Disha Bose is a wonderful new voice in contemporary fiction.
This book is strangely relatable, engaging, dark and unique. I loved every page and I am gutted that I’ve finished it.
One of my favourites this year and I can’t wait to read more from this exciting new author.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Ciara is a full time mum, who is also an influencer with loads of followers. She lives in a small village, where her best friend, Mishti, also lives. Ciara also lives next door to her arch enemy, Lauren.

This story was excellent. I really enjoyed the writing style, and the story was so engaging and relatable. The story had elements of Mean Girl vibes with a clique of friends all following Ciara in her hate towards Lauren. The characters were all great and really well written, and the author gave them time to develop throughout the book. Each character brought something different to the story. The story itself had twists and turns, and each page made me side with a different character. An excellent read that I’d highly recommend!!

Thanks so much Penguin for sending me an advanced copy of Dirty Laundry!

This was such a pleasure to read, I was glued to it every chance I got. In fact, my e-reader died on me when I was on a plane and I was so mad that I couldn't find out what happened next. This book is perfect if you loved Desperate Housewives or just love some small town drama.

Amazing thriller! This should become a best seller. Wonderful characters who truly come to life!
Ciara moves into a large house in an Irish town and has a friend Mishti.Lauren has returned to the town also. The women have families and different lifestyles, which they feud over. Everyone has a reason to hate Ciara, and all have problems of their own.
There are so many suspects! All the different actions that lead to the final situation. Really addictive read, which could be a drama series. Wonderful wimens fiction!

A dark and wry story casting a side eye at the world of modern motherhood and social media. Well written and very engaging with really well drawn characters developed over the story. relatable. A very entertaining story from all the character perspectives. Really enjoyed it.

I adored everything about this book, the cover is so eye catching and fun and gives a great initial insight into what to expect.

There’s so many twists and turns and I loved how all the characters stories intertwined so well. The characters were all really well developed and I found myself really disliking Ciara and rooting for Mishti and Lauren. I really enjoyed Mishti’s narrative and the backstory on her life in India as well as Lauren’s past in their current town.

I found myself wondering where the story was going, I couldn’t figure out who was to blame and it really kept me guessing right up to the reveal.

I’d definitely recommend Disha Bose’s debut novel and I’d definitely love to read more of her future books. Thanks so much to Disha, Viking and NetGalley for the advanced copy of Dirty Laundry.

For some reason it took a couple of days to read the first few pages, and I thought I might struggle to finish it, but then I read the rest in a couple of sittings.

A couple of things I loved about this is there's only six main characters, made up of three couples. The chapters are devoted to the women of the couples, and switches between them. There's a suspicious death at the beginning and then the time frame shifts to the weeks leading up to it. There are enough flashbacks to give more backstory to the characters but not so much that it slows down the story. There's a lot of twists and turns throughout and you really are left waiting until the last few pages to know what happened.

I really enjoyed that social media played a part of it and having known some mummy bloggers quite a few years ago I found some of this to be very accurate, the power dynamics, cliques, bullying, faked images of a perfect life and affairs.

I would 100% recommend this book and I think it's perfect book club material and will get everyone glancing at their friend's over tops of the pages wondering what's going on behind closed doors...

What a wonderful debut! This suburban noir is centred around the lives, loves and marriages of the women in a neighbourhood. There is a lot of toxicity in the friendships, the marriages are unhappy and infidelity is rife. If ever there was a message to avoid social media and affairs with neighbours, this is it! It will have you hooked!

"Dirty Laundry" is a great book about 3 families living in a small town in County Cork. The story is mostly about the women, although the husbands/partners also have important roles to play. Aspects of modern culture are laid bare, but also the significance of traditional values. These include the ongoing use of arranged marriages in Indian culture and the importance of the relationship between children and their grandparents (in the old-fashioned way, not merely as free child-care).

The modern trend to become a social influencer is at the heart of the story, demonstrating how easy it is to bend the truth. If somebody seems to be perfect and have a perfect life, take it with a pinch of salt, especially in this day and age.

Highly recommended. Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.
