Stars, Hide Your Fires

I loved it! I love all of Jessica Best's creations (check out her music and podcasts). I would describe this book as the cast of Les Miserables is trapped in a Hamlet retelling in space, where they're being framed for the death of King Hamlet and have to solve the murder to clear their names. It's a lot of fun. For fans of Winter's Orbit and Belle Revolte or anyone who likes mystery and politics in their SF.

Loved this book! A great cast of characters and fast-paced action. So many fantasies and science fiction books that come across my desk lately are heavily descriptive in place and setting, and I appreciate that this one felt like "jumping right in"..I was thinking this story was giving me "Knives Out" vibes, and when I went back and checked the description, that's what it said! I would add that I also got CInder (M. Meyer) vibes, which is never a bad thing.

The plot of the book is intricately woven, featuring unexpected twists and turns that keep readers guessing until the very end. The pacing is well-maintained, balancing moments of intense action with quieter introspective scenes. The author's ability to maintain suspense and tension throughout the story creates a page-turning reading experience that will leave readers eager to uncover the truth.
