It was an accident. Really it was. The strong willed girl would never. Well she actually might but thats besides the point. She didn't mean to. It was really his fault. But once she did that was all it took. I enjoyed how this book was going and then it happened. I am still not sure I am excited about it. But its already written. I hope she follows through on the next book..... I did really enjoy the ending except one thing. I enjoyed how he redeemed himself.

What a fantastic new series! I loved the coupling of Briar and Wren. Their story was absolutely believable and not as stereotypical as some period romances can be.

I shed a few tears when Percy died, he truly had become a beloved character by the time of his demise.

I'll be honest, I'm hoping the setup for the next book is Angus and Esme. They were fantastic supporting characters and deserve a story line of their own.

This is the first book I have read from this author and plan on reading more. Lady Briar is kidnapped with her Scottish gardener/secretly a laird. They marry on the forced trip back to Scotland and discover love, overcome a treacherous cousin to live happily ever after.

Ms Fenna does it again with a thoroughly delightful, original story! Lady Briar is a feisty, loving and sympathetic soul who wants to help those in need and bring people in to the family, regardless of their station in life. Wren is a grumpy soul, hiding from family or so he thought! I loved how he was so protective of her, even when he wanted to stay away from her. Percy was written perfectly! Absolutely loved how his arc in life was given a chance to grow. This was a wonderful story and will be looking for book #2!

Lady Briar Weds the Scot is the entertaining first full length story in Fenna Edgewood's new series Blakeley Manor.

It seems to be a good start - fun interesting characters, romance, humor all mixed in with bit of a mystery and in this book a touch of bitter-sweet.

I enjoyed it from beginning to end and would definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this! The storyline is familiar but not at all predictable. The couple is thrown together after their siblings have married. Circumstances force them to marry and to journey to the hero's native Scotland. Both characters are absolutely lovely, and their story was engaging. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!

I just loved this book, it ticked all the boxes for the perfect spicy read. Briar Blakeley turned down a marriage proposal from the despicable Percy and ends up being kidnapped with him along with the gardener Wren and are on their way to Scotland. To save her reputation she has to marry one of them. She choses the Scottish gardener.

If you wanted to be married in Scotland, you just had to say you were, and you were married. No paperwork, no ceremony as such. So they married but Wren didn't want to rush the relationship so he held back. I loved the build up from friends to lovers as they travelled to Scotland.

It really does pack a lot in from an ambush and duals, highs and sad lows, to an apothecary I need to know more about. I'm hoping she appears in the next book. I just loved this read and I'm looking forward to more from this author.

I struggled to rate this because I really enjoyed it. It's definitely a solid 4.5 to me. It was a fascinating take on a kidnapping romance that went all the way to Scotland. I enjoy a good Scottish road trip with a cast of unique characters and tons of drama. This one had it all.
Briar came from a very forward-thinking family. She was pretty comfortable in her own skin. Even though she was of the age to have her first season, her older brother didn't make her do so. Perhaps it was because of her parent's death or he wasn't really into all that kind of stuff. Briar does have a "fiance" that comes drunkenly to her house trying to force her hand in marriage. Percy, the fiance has also been spending time with a young lady from the village. He isn't aware that Briar also knows this and that there is a baby coming. So she lets him know she won't be doing anything with him. Well, Percy is just a pitiful human and is kicked out of the house after insulting her. While ranting and raving outside, the gardener overhears and Percy ends up with a bloodied nose. Now the gardener has his own secrets and isn't who he says he is...
The reader gets a peak of Wren's, the gardener, character when he accompanies Briar to the mother of Percy's child's house. Even though Percy is a jerk and quite immature, Briar is still concerned about the young lady and the baby. She desires to be helpful. I really think she was happy she didn't have to marry Percy's, childish self.
Anyway, this is where I end my review because what happens next is unbelievable and quite hilarious in some parts. If you enjoy Highland/Scottish romance with an interesting class of characters and tent action, definitely pick this up. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't read anything by this author before, but after this book that is going to change. This book was so well written and wonderful that I cannot wait for more in this series.

The plot is well done - the romance and the B plot are balanced so well. Both the main characters felt so genuine that you can't help but root for them. I also always have a soft spot for romances that don't do the third act couple breakup/fight but instead do something with the B plot.

While there is action, adventure, and nefarious plotting this book, this book to me was soft and satisfying (like the book equivalent of hot toddy - perfect to curl up with when you need to unwinding with a little kick so it's not boring).

Strong plot,loved the description of the characters and setting.
Keeps the reader interesting and love to read a sequel to the book.

I like the fact that she was trying to get Wren’s attention and make him like her. It reminded me of a hard to get love. They had a marriage where she was kidnapped but it was a really genuine type of love. I didnt like the secrets that wren kept and why he just didnt tell Briar cousins past behaviors. But other then that i love how clean the story is and the writing she writes really well. My favorite character was Briar. Great story thank you for letting me read the arc.

I confess I feel remorse to have been unable to read the last book the author published, but life went on and while it sat on my shelves, I tend to move forwards than backwards, even more when more books pile up awaiting their turn.
So as soon I learned of this book release date, I marked it on my calendar and crossed my fingers I would find room to read it.
So even if it is close, I made it in time for its release date, tomorrow.

This book is a delightful story of a sort of love at first sight, Briar and Wren are instantly drawn to the other, and while rank, then danger made them at a time hold back their feeling, chemistry is their fall.
Briar is young, and while she should already have entered the marriage mart, she is not ready to settle. She wants more for herself, to be her real self than what society’s rules would oblige her to be to fit in.
Yet Wren has a little something that caught her eyes, and what if he is her brother’s gardener, she senses there is more to him than he lets appear.
Wren thought he did the right thing when returning from war he did not reach his clan. But now, kidnapped, on his way to his childhood place, he realizes he should have sought answers.
Even more as it has now embroiled the sweet lady he has tried to avoid for a while as she unsettles him.
Their romance is sweet and rather smooth when their journey is eventful and revealing of everyone’s strength and feelings.

Having read the prequel to this series in the Naughty or Nice Christmas anthology, I had to find out happened next in the series so quickly snapped up this book. It is marvelous to read a new-to-me author that is so well worth reading again!

What I liked:
* Briar Blakely: youngest of four siblings, not ready to settle down, hasn’t had a first season in London, carefree, kind, intrigued by the gardener, ends up kidnapped and making the best of it
* Robert “Wren” Renfield Spencer: Blakely gardener, ex-captain in the military, potential Scottish laired, oldest of four siblings, kidnapped and summarily wed to Briar
* The plot, setting, pacing, and writing
* Percy Quintrell: wastrel, Blakely neighbor, scoundrel, dislikable but grew a great deal in the story
* Angus Macleod: childhood friend of Wren’s – would like to find out what happens to him in the future
* The way the truth about Wren and his backstory came out
* That some characters surprised me…not all was black or white
* The conclusion of the story
* Knowing that there will be more books to read in this series and wondering which sibling will have their story told next

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Having to wait to read the next book

The Scottish Bear and the English Rose

Robert Renfrew Spencer - Wren to everyone at Blakeley Manor - is making his way as a gardener after the Napoleonic Wars. His younger brother, the groom for the same estate, has just married the elder sister of the duke in residence, so the duke's younger sister, Briar Blakeley, considers them all family. Not wanting to offend his employer, Wren agrees to be Briar's escort/bodyguard when she's out visiting the estate's tenants. It's on one of these trips that the story morphs from a quiet class-divide romance into a swashbuckling, harrowing battle for victory after Wren's history is revealed.

The romance is exquisite, with the circumstances forcing a hasty marriage between Wren and Briar. Wren's transformation from reserved English gardener to avenging Scottish laird was gradual and believable, and it's easy to see why Briar couldn't help but fall in love with him. Once they're in Scotland, all the secrets, suspense, and intrigue come spilling out of Renfrew Castle.

One of the most astonishing parts of this book was the introduction of a secondary character as an absolutely horrible person who manages the sort of redemption arc that is usually reserved for a main character. That we can understand how this person becomes a true hero by the end of the story is a fine testament to the writing skills of this author.

I loved the final showdown where the true villain receives his just desserts. I was impressed with how intricately the story was woven so that the two main victims could each receive closure with the same event. The only thing I missed was an epilogue that showed the rest of the Blakeley and Spencer families catching up on everything that had happened.

This is a terrific book, with surprising depth and plenty of action - both battlefield and bedroom - and I heartily recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Diving into a world of dreams.. …Romance, heartfelt emotions, lovable and witty characters, some humor, and some mystery! Because we want it all! Historical Romance at its best!
If you like romantic mysteries with snappy comebacks thrown around, characters with grow and develop before your eyes then this author gives you that along with a story to back it up and the imagery to fold you into the lives you are seeing.

Briar Blakeley, youngest child of the four is sweet, kind, loving, and a big heart. She can get you to do anything just by phrasing it to seem like you are suggesting what needs to be done.

Mr. Percy Quintrell, he is complicated, obnoxious, and surprises you in the end.

Robert Renfrew Spencer, Wren, scots man, highlander, honorable, brother, and gardener. Love of plants from his mother, highland honor from his grandfather, and a big teddy bear of a man. Calm, quiet thinking rules with a steady hand.

Angus Macleod, brawny highlander, sent to get Wren, believes what he is doing is the best for the clan.

Esme Ross Grant, healer, misplaced by the clearances, trying to survive the best she can. Married to Loghain Grant, cousin to Wren, is a self-indulgent, selfish, arrogant man.

From bad marriage proposals, shenanigans, to mysterious happenings is what you will have on this journey from the English country to the highland of Scotland. As you camp along the trail and find out what your are made of. How will out damsel handle it? Will Wren find out the truths or shy away from them? Will Percy parish or flourish? Will Loghain ease things or make them more complicated? How will Esme face Wren, with grace or malice? Can Briar be grind Esme?

I love this Regency romance. So much action and adoration between the characters. I like that the author writes historicals that make me root for the characters. The descriptions of Scotland are spot on and I love the accent for Wren. I fell into this book and was immediately caught up in the world. Highly recommend Fenna Edgewood as this is my third book by this author and I am never disappointed!

A fun & heartwarmingly tender adventure romance to get lost in!

LADY BRIAR WEDS THE SCOT had a wealth of drama in this romance entangled adventure that interweaved an array of colourful, well depicted characters with a sharp injection of insightful believability and wit in its wordplay that allowed the tale to flow at a smooth and enjoyable quick pace. With well crafted and tender touches threaded throughout the humour that made me really care for those involved - some so much more that I ever expected to or even shocked to find myself crying at their fate.
I just loved this... It has a deep core of humour and warmth that threaded throughout the adventure, turmoil, heartache, sharp wit, betrayal, redemption, secrets and comradery that brought this sweet entangling romance to life as it built and sparkled with a tender seductive intimacy that really kept me reading. With a few twists and turns added to hold you engaged, have you shedding unexpected tears, beaming with smiles and filled with suspenseful longing.
There's nothing like a Scottish hero to pull you in and Wren was the full package. A core of heartmelting kindness that compliments the swoonworthy brogue and softens the bites of taciturn, encased in a shield of warrior protectiveness, that really draws you in and wraps you up. While, the endearingly lovely Briar, a perfect match in kindheartedness, is a captivating mix of resilience, innocence and joyful optimism meets bold strength and spirited independence. Together they are delightful. In all their trampled down longing and denied attraction as unforeseen circumstances and fate pushes them together as chemistry and desire builds by tantalisingly simmering degrees.
I won't go into details of the adventure that awaits in these pages, as that would spoil the fun in its reading, but, I will say, it was one I'm truly glad I went on, became deeply engrossed in, would happily return to again and rather sad its all over. A great new author for me; Edgewood turned out to be a gem of a find!

Overall, marking this a series I'm most keen to become entangled and absorbed in further. One that holds great promise with its three dimensional characters that explode with colour and a relatability you can't help but fall for and truly want to see them attain the coveted happy ever after... or plainly and satisfyingly get their just desserts! A great unputdownable read that I willingly forgone sleep to finish! Loved it!

[On an aside, upon hearing there was a prelude (incĺuded in the newly released Naughty or Nice anthology), I made sure to read it first and was glad that I did as it really sets the scene and hints at the family dynamics at play. Though, that said, it is not an essential read that I needed to fully enjoy this book but a fun series introduction that sets the tone going forward and whets your appetite for future entanglements and a desire to get to know the two families on a much deeper level.]

This action-packed Regency romance and just what I needed in my life! I love Fenna Edgewood's spicy romances and this historical hits it out of the park. And one word: Scotland! The descriptions are glorious. Wren's accent! Perfect throughout! This book has so many delicious tropes, like grumpy/sunshine and forced proximity, that I was hooked from the first page. I am setting this aside as a re-read because I know I will need more more more before the next installment.

I loved Briar and Wren’s story! It was a page-turner from the beginning to the last page! If this as a preview for the rest of the Blakeley Manor series, we are in for a treat! Their story was well-written and full of characters who aren’t afraid to show their emotions. Add in a little kidnapping, a forced marriage, a couple villains, betrayal, murder, attempted murder, witty banter, and steamy romance to round out the story and you have a wonderful story. I loved how protective Wren was of Briar, how caring he was when she had a migraine headache. Be still my heart!!

Lady Briar Weds a Scot is Fenna Edgewood’s first full-length book in the Blakeley Manor series. It can easily be read as a stand-alone book even though Briar is introduced in the prequel The Countess’s Christmas Groom (from Naughty or Nice: A Holiday Regency Anthology). I hope to see more of the secondary characters as well as the Blakeley and Spencer family members. Oh, so many potential swoon-worthy books!

If you are a new reader of Fenna Edgewood, you should definitely take the leap and try this book. If you are a seasoned reader, you will enjoy this book as much as her previous books. Either way, I hope you love this book as much as I did!
