The pictures alone are enough reason to buy this cookbook - they are stunning! I have been to some of the parks highlighted in this book and was delighted to revisit the memories of my vacations!

I would recommend trying the Fry Bread and Cornbread recipes as they are stellar. I am also anxious to try the crab mac and cheese in the near future.

This cookbook contains a variety of foods and drinks to suit all tastes. Highly recommended!

Anyone who knows cookbook author Linda Ly, knows that she is an expert on outdoor cooking. The National Parks Cookbook: The Best Recipes from (and Inspired by) America’s National Parks is a little different from her other cookbooks, but just as good. The recipes aren’t necessarily cooked outside; rather they use ingredients such as wild game, to make dishes that one would think would be served at restaurants in the national parks. All of the parks are included, and the recipes are mouthwatering. There are dozens of good recipes that almost everyone will find very appealing.

The recipes are written in the traditional manner with a list of ingredients followed by succinct instructions that are easy-to-follow and can be prepared by both beginning and advanced cooks. Many of the recipes will appeal to children and families, and even kids will love perusing the recipes because there are some beautiful photographs of the national parks, as well as most of the dishes. The recipes include side dishes, soups, snacks, main dishes, and desserts, and are organized according to the national park they represent. Each recipe includes notes preceding the recipes with interesting vignettes, information on the national park, and hints to make the recipe easier to prepare.

All told, this is another Linda Ly cookbook that is well-written and presents great recipes. Anyone who loves good food, especially good food that they are introduced to in a national park, will want to pick up this excellent cookbook.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

This has quickly become one of my favorite cookbooks! My family and I have visited several National Parks and it has been so fun to create some of the recipes from places we have visited and also recipes from places we dream to visit!
Our favorite recipe is the Jordan Pond House Popovers from Acadia National Park. This recipe brought back such great memories from our visit to Jordan Pond where the smell of popovers wafts through the air everyday. The recipe took us right back in time to our visit.
The photography in this cookbook is stunning and the recipe selection is top notch! I highly recommend this book for all National Park enthusiasts. It would make a fantastic gift or addition to any cookbook collection.

This is a beautiful cookbook organized by national park regions. There are images of almost every recipe, and something for everyone here. I especially like the recipes based on parks in the southwest and west. This book will inspire you to plan a national park road trip, but before you do, you can make some inspired dishes at home! Thanks so much to NetGalley for the ARC!

I was seriously impressed by this cookbook. As someone who loves to bake and cook, and also loves to hike and travel to national parks, I was very excited to receive a copy of this book to review. I think the author absolutely nailed it with the execution of this book's concept. You learn so much about the history of each park, and the recipes are inspired by local ingredients from each park's region. The recipes themselves also look delicious. I am particularly excited about the popover recipe!

Not only did this cookbook make me want to cook new dishes, they also made me want to pack my backpack and hop on a plane immediately to go to a park. Even though I received a free digital copy, I was only able to access it via the Netgalley app and the license expired so I can no longer view it through the app. I loved this one enough to immediately buy a physical copy for myself when the license expired!

This would make an excellent gift for anyone who loves our nation's parks. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my complimentary copy! This is one I will be recommending a lot.

I really enjoyed this book, and some of the Recipes were looking
good as well.
I have picked out a couple of them to make! I don't cook all that much
anymore but they really looked appealing to me.

Thank you so much for giving me the chance to read and review this
wonderful book!

This is a great guide! I haven't been to all the parks but the ones I have were represented well in this book. Can't wait to try out all of these recipes!

What a great book!
Some years ago, we travelled through some of the national parks. Yosemite, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon… This book brought me right back to these magical places. It is a lovely combination of the love for nature, curiosity about the parks, and the delicious foods they have to offer,
The pictures are beautiful. The author shares lots of interesting facts about the various parks and their history. The recipes are really great. They are well explained and interesting. Some of the ingredients might be hard to find, like elk, but one could try it with good alternatives available in your region. I appreciated the information about the ingredients and the fact that the quantities were in both units of measurement. I baked the Appfelkuchen and it was delicious. In fact, by the time the four adults had a slice on their plate, my grandson, who had been served first, had already finished his slice and commented that it was really good. And there are many more recipes in this book I am going to try.
This books gets top marks for me!

This is a great compilation of recipes from around the US. The recipes are accompanied by short histories of the chosen national parks and photographs. Most of the recipes only require a few ingredients and are super do-able. I was excited to see Phantom Ranch's stew recipe and the Grand Canyon's chili recipe. This is definitely worth a read for anyone who loves our national parks and likes cooking.

Some of my favorite family vacations have been spent in national parks. The National Parks cookbook is filled with beautiful photography, stories, history, and of course recipes from a variety of parks. I came for the popover recipe, but left with memories and inspiration for future travels. Would be a great gift for your travel buddy or foodie friend!

Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press and NetGalley for this ARC.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
This was an interesting cookbook with a variety of recipes and cocktails from and inspired by a variety of national parks. The recipes are simple and easy to follow. They have a variety of regional dishes. There are many tips about cooking and alternatives throughout the book. There is also a lot of information about the national parks and places before each of the recipes. There are also a few different separate pieces about the parks.
I thought that this was an interesting cookbook. It feels like an easy way to travel through the parks without having to leave home. The majority of the ingredients are accessible, with things like canned goods.

A very unique and wonderful cookbook with recipes inspired by US National Parks. It features gorgeous pictures of parks around the country. The recipes are very enticing! This would make a fantastic gift!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.

The National Parks Cookbook really has it all - beautiful scenic photos, really interesting stories and facts about the national parks, delicious sounding recipes, and inviting meal photos! The design of this book really accentuates all of these lovely features. I love that the recipes are not full of ingredients that I've never heard of. I would recommend this book to anyone. There's something enjoyable for everyone in this beautiful cookbook!

Uniquely Americana.

A great collection of both recipes and the food and drink journey to our national parks. Most of the recipes are regionally inspired (with nods to the originals). A most tasty and uniquely American experience. I personally liked the simple timbleberry jam recipe.
Highly recommend.

Delightful cookbook with lovely pictures of the National Parks and the food associated with them. The cookbook would be worth it alone for the Acadia National Park Pop-overs recipe! For each park I have ties to, I found delightful recipes that I can see the association to the park or area of the country. It also includes fun tips and tricks connected to each recipe, such as the proper type of skillet (cast iron) to use while cooking your cornbread. The book is not only a lovely cookbook but a nice glimpse of the diversity of America, both in land and culture. I think this book would make a fun gift for any traveler or cook!

My only disappointment is that it only includes a few recipes for each park, but they seem to be quality recipes so this can be excused I think.

I received a free PDF copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely gorgeous book--amazing pictures of both the National Parks and the recipes. Chock full of regional food and drinks, this would be a great coffee table book--this is one I think I'll have to get a physical copy to have!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of 'The National Parks Cookbook," for my honest opinion. Wow, this cookbook has the most breathtaking images. From the images of the parks to the ones of the awesome recipes, this is a cookbook worth buying for the outdoors person in your life. I have only been to the Smokey Mountains, but this book definitely makes me want to travel to all of them! To be honest I wasn't expecting much when it came to the recipes in the book, maybe some granola, chili, smores and other camping food, but it was much more! I was very surprised on the attention to detail for recipes based on the park resources. I loved that there were cocktails recipes like the Huckleberry Margarita and Blueberry Basil Frose! I will for sure be purchasing this for my favorite hiker.

Recently I have been fantasizing about taking trips to some of the more famous National Parks so I was really excited to see The National Parks Cookbook on Netgalley. The book, like many cookbooks, started with guides for kitchen tools, ingredients and cooking techniques. There are a couple things that set The National Parks Cookbook apart from other cookbooks and, as expected, the photographs are the main aspect! The photos are beautiful and just made my desire to visit these parks even stronger. The book also broke up the recipes a little differently. Each recipe was associated with a park and a brief description of why the recipe and park were paired was included with each recipe. I have a weird obsession with reading through cookbooks, so I have read a lot of different recipe books. The creativity, the photos and the subject made this my favorite cookbook so far!

Calling all nature lovers. Whether you are actually in a national park or just watching Yellowstone from your living room sofa, this one will have you feeling as if you’re in the wild outdoors and dining beneath the stars. Some special shoutouts go to the Great Smoky Mountain’s Blackberry Lavender Jam and Blackberry Oat Crumble, the Grand Canyon’s Grand Canyon Mules, Zion National Park’s Navajo Tacos, Olympic’s Creekside Claim Chowder, Mt. Rainier’s Blueberry Basil Frose, Isle Royale’s Thomas Jefferson Vanilla Ice Cream, and Glacier’s Trout with Wild Rice and Figs. For the more adventurous at heart fear not, there’s some recipes for you, too, including Rocky Mountain’s Bourbon Elk Chili, Yellowstone’s Moose Drool Braised Bison Short Ribs, Joshua Tree’s Shroom Jerky, Carlsbad Caverns’s Charred Cactus and Corn Salad, Glacier Bay’s Buffalo Shepherd’s Pie, and Glacier’s Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf. This one is a whole lotta fun.

As someone who has visited a good number of National Parks and whose ultimate goal is to visit more, I LOVED this cookbook. It brought back some great memories of meals I had in the parks - like the bourbon sweet corn and smoked trout chowder, which I definitely ate while in the Grand Tetons, and the perfect popovers available in Acadia.
I plan to gift this book to some of my friends who are also devoted to enjoying the national parks and can't wait to make more of its recipes.

This is an incredibly beautiful cookbook full of not only mouth-watering recipes but also inspiring photography from many American national parks. The recipes are curated with care, each one tied to either a park's history or its natural resources. There's just the right amount of storytelling between recipes. This collection pulls from a wide array of regions and uses food to help tell the stories, putting it in a special class of cookbook that's about much more than just a list of ingredients and directions.

The National Parks Cookbook by Linda Lu is a “must add” to your kitchen library!
I love to travel and I love visiting state parks. I don’t usually stop and eat while in the park as I usually bring my own trail mix and quick foods. So naturally, I was curious what might be found in a national parks cookbook. The intro does a god job providing some background and setting up the idea. I appreciate the focus on using everyday items found in the kitchen as well as simple ingredients. The pictures from the various parks are stunning and the pictures of the final products from the recipes are inspiring. There’s a wide variety of culinary delights (and drinks) present (each reflective of the region they represent), so this cookbook would be a good fit for anyone who enjoys trying new recipes. There are great historical tidbits all throughout, so I learned a lot about our national parks through the reading as well.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

It was interesting too because she always picked which was N ATI VE To that area. The pictures were beautiful too. I like how she explained different things too snacks and And different foods. Thank you NetGalley, Linda Ly and Quarto Publishing Group for the copy of The National Parks Cookbook. This is my personal review.
This is an amazing cookbook. It would also make a wonderful coffee table book because of the stunning photos in it.
I have on my bucket list for retirement to visit National Parks and now I know what fabulous goods to have while we are there.
I am excited to make some of the recipes in the book for my family.
This will be a great gift for under the tree for all of my friends that love to cook!

Author Linda Ly wrote that this book was her absolute favorite project to date. Between the delicious recipes, intriguing facts about the National Park’s and Will Taylor’s breathtaking photography, this is by far one of the best cookbook’s I have ever seen. I thank Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the opportunity to read and review this cookbook!

Arriving just in time for holiday gift giving, this is a beautiful book. The recipes include a lot of hearty food and look delicious and not terribly complicated. The book also includes a lot of scenic photos and information about the National Parks. I can already think of three or four people I could give this to as a Christmas gift. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This Splendid Cookbook is full of great interesting recipes and wonderful photos. These are not everyday camp cooking recipes for the most part. These are pretty special. I'm trying to pick something to fix for tomorrow's dinner right now.
(Thanks to Net Galley & Linda Ly for this Book).

A cookbook that dives into the national parks of America! The book is divided up by region, which is nice since some things are more regional than national (like key lime). There is also history intermixed throughout. Most recipes have pictures, which is great.

This cookbook is AWESOME!!! It has photos of the recipes (which I love!! I personally need a visual to know I'm following along correctly!) and it uses local ingredients from each of the different regions! I think that is super special, never heard of some of them before (like lingonberries!), and I cannot wait to make these recipes! I will be trying out the cocktails and the sugar cream pie first!!
Also! I love the extra hiker food tips, history, foraging information, etc! Imagine going to visit a national park, foraging some berries, and then using them to make a sweet treat/cocktail at camp! Maybe its more of a glamping thing but it is extra special when you can get the ingredients straight from nature!

Gorgeous photographs accompany the mouth-watering recipes included in this cookbook. These are much fancier meals than I had when visiting the parks but are definitely reminiscent of what is available and makes me long to visit these parks again. I loved the recipes for the different mules in the Grand Canyon section and the story about Fred Harvey and his influence on the parks was a nice addition. I have always been a fan of Navajo Fry Bread and will be trying that recipe this weekend. Highly recommended for a little different meal during the week or as a lead up to a National Parks vacation.

Anyone who has been to a National Park knows that the experience is magical. Acadia in Maine is one of my favorite places in the world and the one I always think about when I am looking for a sense of peace. I know that others have their own special parks.

At all of them, food is available. At Acadia, for me, it was all about the popovers. And, yes (!), the recipe is here. It is one of many in this beautifully illustrated book.

Highly recommended for those who like to eat, (armchair) travel and recall good times.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

So I haven't tried any recipes yet (although many are tempting), but one thing is for certain ... this is probably the most beautiful cookbook I've ever seen ... and I've been enjoyed purchasing cookbooks for decades. The photographs in this cookbook are just stunning. I only had the opportunity to review the ebook edition, but this seems like it will be first class. (When you use as a cookbook, you are going to want a plastic protector over it! Thats for sure!)

Not all of the National Parks are represented, this cookbook concentrates recipes around 10 of the most popular National Parks.

Looking forward to trying some recipes. This would make a really nice Christmas present; I actually know who will be receiving for Christmas (now that I think about it).

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review the advance read copy of The National Parks Cookbook. Linda Ly is the author of this stunning cookbook and the publisher is Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press. Released Oct 2022.

I loved this cookbook! As a frequenter of national parks, I can see myself purchasing this for friends as a gift. Did I come for the Jordan Pond House popover recipe? Yes. Was I pleasantly surprised with the mix of all types of recipes including apps, desserts and drinks? Yes! I also enjoyed the photographs and national park facts along the way, like how many berries you can pick in each park. Recipes were easy to follow with common ingredients and pictures.

to visit a national park; this book made me want to go more!! The pictures, the stories, and the facts are beautiful and great to read. And the recipes looked so good and were so easy to understand. I have many friends who camp and visit national parks regularly. I would highly recommend this book to any of them and anyone who likes that or is interested in it.

I love that this cookbook contains recipes from or inspired by some of the most famous US National Parks. The pictures throughout the whole book were so beautiful. I liked how the book was divided up by the regions that the parks are in. Linda Ly did an excellent job on telling stories about each park and how the recipe tied into that park. If you can't get to any of these National parks, Linda takes you there through the recipes.
Thanks to Netgalley for the digital copy to read. I look forward to trying a few of the recipes.
