Can old-fashioned courtship survive in today's dating world?
When Emma Love’s mother retires, it is time for her to take the reins of the family dating agency and build on its success. And she has a fresh new idea: to host a Jane Austen-style Regency Season of glamourous events where potential lovers can actually take the time to get to know each other in person, with no apps in between.
As the round of glamourous social events begins, we meet some of Emma’s new clients, and see her matchmaking skills in action.
Annie, who has a romantic soul but believes she lost her chance at love a long time ago; recently divorced Jane, who is not quite ready to see what her new love life might look like, and wild child Lydia, who is more interested in hooking up than finding her Mr Darcy.
All is going swimmingly but as the Season unfolds, there is a fly in Emma’s ointment – the irritating Mr Knight, with his casual attitude and gentle cynicism. Why is she allowing him to ruffle her calm, ordered life and why can’t she stop thinking about him? She has no intention of becoming romantically involved herself, of course; she is far too sensible to take a chance on love – isn’t she?
Jane Austen meets Sophie Kinsella in this laugh-out-loud, captivating romantic comedy.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t plan on finishing reading it in one day, but I did. I found the characters to be relatable- every reader will find a connection to one of the characters, whether it be to Emma- the hard worker who never thinks of her own needs, Josh- pining over the one who got away, Lydia- afraid of commitment, Jane- afraid of letting others see her for her she really is, and Annie- not wanting to hurt others in her life which was keeping herself from being happy. I loved the way Ally Sinclair brought elements of Jane Austen and Flair of Bridgestone into a funny romance. I loved it.
A story about dating in 21 century . Emma is a matchmaker and wants to make her business more successful . She wants to host a Regency style Season but she is not very sure if she can make it work . I liked the stories of the three school teachers .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A thoroughly enjoyable mix of 21st century dating and the Ton.
Emma, matchmaker, has set up an 8 week matchmaking/dating season modeled after the past when true connections, chaperones, and extravagant events were king.
The book follows multiple couples all of whom have unique love experiences and many of whom have overlapping or connected stories.
It was enjoyable from start to finish and I would love an extended story of what comes next. 4-4.5 stars
I enjoyed this book a lot.
Emma Love is trying to revitalise her mother's dating agency by adding an old fashioned twist - A season, where people meet potential partners face to face, eschewing the digital dating app and going to actual conversations and fun instead. Will it work? Will everyone get paired off?
There are four couples in this story - Annie, Lydia and Jane - all of whom are Emma's clients and Emma herself. They all get their own stories, complete with happy endings.
There's a definite Bridgerton vibe to the Season - even before the Regency ball at the finale. There's even a gossip mag about the people involved in the Season. So if you wanted Bridgerton vibes with Gossip Girl scenarios, this is the perfect book for you.
I look forward to the next Season!
Thank you, Hera Books, for the advance reading copy.
This is a fun read! I love Jane Austen and this reflects so much in this romcom!
The writing is good, fun to read. The characters are lively and interesting. The chemistry is there and it sparks.
I would say the book lives up to the blurb.
The plot works well with how the story progresses and how the characters turned out to be. Emma be okay I say!
Needed some crazy laughs. Needed a feel good romcom. I got it all from this book.
This book was labeled as a laugh out loud rom com, and that's exactly what it was! It felt like a movie in the best way and I could easily fly through the story.
I really enjoyed this modern take on Jane Austin’s Emma. The book was very enjoyable I found that I couldn’t put it down!
I tried a dating app for a hot minute before I met my husband. But it really wasn’t for me. I ended up meeting my husband one night when I was at a bar, trying to (ok forcing) be social.
What if instead of an app, you could sign up for an immersive old fashioned dating experience? When Emma Love’s mother retires, she takes the reins and steps up to run the family dating agency. The agency is a Jane Austen-style Regency Season full of fun events including a grand ball, and outdoor picnic. Emma is single, and plans on staying that way, but how does it look for the matchmaker to not be in a match? The Season is comprised of 8 events that aims to mingle the participants and encourage them to make deep connections that lead to love. As the season unfolds, Emma finds herself not only struggling, but also falling for the one person she never thought she would.
I disagree that this was a romantic comedy. I didn’t really see any humor in it, I’ve seen other reviews where they thought it was funny so maybe I’m just not funny…I don’t know. However, this was a great romance albeit a little messy at times. I loved the matches that were made and the way we got to know the characters. There are a lot of characters to keep track of though! Overall, this is a solid, well written romance. If you love Jane Austen, you will enjoy this one.
This one is coming right after the holidays on January 12th, 2023. Thank you so much to @netgalley and the publisher @hera_books, Hera Books, for my advanced e-arc in exchange for this honest review. This is a great read.
There was just something about this book - I couldn’t put it down, which totally surprised me. It has been SO long since I read a book with several character arcs and storylines, and I’m shocked at how invested I got in all of them! I mean, it skilfully included several tropes - second chance romance, fake dating, even surprise pregnancy! I was also delighted when I finished and realised it’s kind of the start of a series?!
What an unusual take on a classic Austenian trope!!! A Season of Love was formatted in a style I have NEVER seen before in writing!! It has the same format as movies like Love Actually and Valentine’s Day (which are some of my favorite movies)!!! There are multiple groups (familial, friendly, and romantic) that all intertwine in one way or another! Not only did I love this book for its’ original formatting BUT the format of this book gives the reader QUADRUPLE the amount of characters to love AND 4x the amount of relationships to see grow, be intrigued in, and wonder the question of “Will they or won’t they?”
Another amazing aspect of this book is that the market for books with aspects of Jane Austeness/Bridgeton is large!!! With that fact in mind, you could possibly think that this book would not be worth the time, compared to all the others…BUT with the plot twists, the modern day representation, the unusual format/style of the book, and the wonderful writing, I can sincerely say that this book is at the top of my Regencyeske themed books! It had aspects/shoutouts to some of my favorite classic authors such as Jane Austen, Emily Brontë, Charlotte Brontë, etc AND a modern twist! It’s like combining modern times with a regency era concept! If you have ever wondered what a modern day person with their modern day problems would be like in a Jane Austen book, then this is definitely a great option for you!! What modern day person hasn’t wished for the opportunity of going to a modern day Season??? Where and when is the real life Season??
Thanks to Netgalley and Hera Books for the advance reading copy.!

Omg, I loved this book, I read it in two hours and I couldn't stop!
This is a modern-day take on Jane Austen's Emma and regency romance/dating. The book had Bridgerton vibes, humor, comedy, romance, well written characters and an interesting plot and good development!
Highly recommended if you love everything I just said!
A Season for Love is out Everywhere on January 12, 2023! Don't miss it!
This book said if you love Sophie Kinsella than you will love this one! So instantly I knew I had to check it out!
I love books abt dating and dating agencies and this was such a cute read! It takes readers back in time. You get to know a person for who they really are without all the technology. Emma and Mr Knight were an irresistible combo. Highly enjoyed

Emma has no intention of becoming romantically involved herself, of course; she is a matchmaker on the hunt for the perfect partner for ladies like Annie (who thought she had missed her chance at love a long time ago), Jane (recently divorced and nervously stepping into her new life) and wild child Lydia (more interested in hooking up than finding Mr Darcy).
As the Season unfolds, there is only one fly in Emma’s ointment – the irritating Mr Knight, with his casual attitude and gentle cynicism. Why is she allowing him to ruffle her calm, ordered life and why can’t she stop thinking about him? She is far too sensible to take a chance on love – isn’t she?
This was a cute read!! I was pleasantly surprised when the perspectives shifted and changed to accommodate new character POVS in the book. Though I enjoyed learning about the different characters, I feel like it took away from the full development of all the characters as a whole. I would have loved further development from ALL the characters, because I feel like I only got small glimpses into each of their lives, making it a little harder to root for them fully.
The matchmaking social season aspect of the whole story was a great backdrop for a plot! A regency vibe in a modern day dating scene is a great concept and I loved meeting everyone in the story and enjoyed all the character pairings.
“Miss Emma Love, requests the honour of your company at the inaugural Ball of the Season”
To say that this romance was not what I was expecting would be a huge understatement!!! Definitely not an every day romcom !!!
It was a complicated hot mess of people trying to find their Ones in a world where life gets on the way and it messes things up.
Emma is an amazing main character and honestly the one I could relate to the most in the entire book.
Tom is a man who loves completely and endlessly and he has suffered through t great pain.
Annie is too sweet and generous for the world, and a part of a friends to lovers you are not completely sure you want to happen.
Lydia is a total mess and she owns it but she still deserves better than what she’s got in her past.
Jane … she has to figure out who she truly is and what she wants … and she will have to face it all !!
I loved how all their life got mixed up in a setting that was pure regency romance and Season … and how much at the end, the happy ending was everything we wanted to get !!
“Better to have loved and lost though. At least that’s what people tell me”
“You don’t fit in with the world, Lydia. You bend the world to fit around you”
I loved this book. Any book that has the word love in it usually has me hooked from the beginning. The cover with the cartoon characters was beautiful and I love that it tells the story with the hooked in line about courtship. I watch a lot of shows about courtships and this one really felt like it could become a tv show afterwards. I loved the characters and the atmosphere. It was perfection.
Bridgerton for the modern day romantic. I really loved the idea for A Season for Love bringing back Regency courtship in today's world. I found the story very entertaining and while it was somewhat predictable I did enjoy how all the characters got to where they needed to be. My only complaint would be the amount of characters and story lines taking place in this novel, it never really felt like anyone was the main character. It was also a light confusing in the first few chapters until you became familiar with everyone. That being said I would recommend this one rated 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I want to thank NetGalley and Hera Books for the digital arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fun, easy read and if you love Jane Austen (as I do!) then it'll be just up your street. A great, original idea, to merge the Regency 'dating scene' with modern day dating and I thought it worked really well. If you've read 'Emma' then you might guess what happens when the heroine in this book meets Tom Knight and I guessed some of the other endings/pairings too but that didn't spoil the enjoyment. Only reason for giving 4 stars not 5 is that there were a lot of characters to get my head around at the start of the book and it took me a while to get to know who was who. But a great read and, as I understand it, the first in a series. I'm sure it'll do well!
A season for love is an adorable 21st century homage to Jane Austen’s Emma and a good start to a new series.
Emma Love is inheriting her parents’ matchmaking business and comes up with a fun idea way to get people meeting up in person. The Season was to be an 8 week sequence of get-togethers like people used to do in the regency period, only better because it is inclusive and not gender-biased. This is definitely something I think today’s single people could really use! And this Season was so successful I’ll be looking forward to reading about the next one! Recommended for British rom-com readers of authors like Josie Silver and Sophie Cousens.
Big thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Devoured this book in two sittings. Absolutely loved the premise. The characters were well drawn and credible and the situations they found themselves in were very relatable.
A modern-day must for lovers of Jane Austin. Can not wait for the next book in the series.
Highly recommend.
I have been through one of those grisly 'can't read' phases and this has tugged me right out of it. Engaging characters, delightful contemporary variations on the best Austen classics (as if there are any bad ones...not!) and, of course, lashings of romance. There are nods to yesteryear, but all full embraces of today's world and its many variations on how complicated life can be and how much better it is when you fall in love. Any Austen fan would be a fool to miss out on this joyous, Bridgerton-esque romp through the modern world of dating. Thank you to Hera and to Ally Sinclair for this sparkling addition to the world of dating agency books. A delight through and through.
What a fun read! I liked how there were heavy nods to Jane Austen, without actually reusing any of her plots. Three very modern romances occur against a backdrop of Regency recreation.
hooked and hooked some more. Loved all of this and couldn't put it down. I was like oh my. I need to know more. Read it.
I've read books with technically superior writing, but this story has strong heart and humor and that's why I shall give it 3.5 stars. I believe it could have done with a few more rounds of editing and refinement, but it somewhat makes up for that with whimsy. It's predictable; it's not subtle (the matchmaker's name is Emma); but it's funny and lighthearted and uplifting. If you're a fan of Jane Austen and modern day AUs I think you will be delighted by Sinclair.
Thanks NetGalley and Ally for the ARC!
Such a good book. I liked the characters, I loved reading their stories as they unfurled. I loved the concept of the book too. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Netgalley for accepting me to review this book.
This is a fun, engaging read which takes all things regency and throws it into the 21st Century. Cleverly influenced by Jane Austen's iconic characters, this is a multiple-point-of-view, fast-paced book filled with loads of your favourite tropes. Emma Love is a matchmaker who is determined to take London's dating scene back in time when conversations and specially choreographed events were there to help you find the person you were meant to be with. Emma has recently taken over the reins of her family business and is determined to do something big, little does she know the true wheels she is setting in motion. With a host of great characters, their secrets and their ambitions this makes for an entertaining, humorous and heartbreaking couple of weeks.
Perfect for fans of Austen, the Bridgerton Series and other regency favourites. Or if you just want a different type of Rom-Com to cosy up with.
Be sure to check trigger warnings before reading!
A fun take on Jane Austen's Emma, A Season for Love brings the season of Regency England into the modern era.
Emma Love is a matchmaker, taking over the business from her mother. She comes up with an idea to have an 8 week event over the course of the Summer in which singles can meet and court like they might have in the early 1800s. Aided by her stepbrother Josh, she gets her idea off the ground, inviting many vetted prospects.
Among these are 3 friends, school teachers off for the Summer break, Annie, Jane, and Lydia. The story follows them and their search for love. Will they find it? Or will they come up empty while wearing period costumes?
I was drawn into this story, and had to know if all the ends were nicely tied up. I wished for a little more passion, but it was a sweet, enjoyable read, nonetheless.
*I received a digital ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review
Thank you Ally Sinclair and NetGallery for providing this ARC copy of A Season For Love - in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
In a modern world where dating has lost all deep standards that lasting connections are based on - our main heroine sets off to revamp her family’s business - Love’s Love.
When I first read the description I KNEW I had to read this one. Romance, Jane Austen, and a promise of rom-com adventures involving courting - SIGN ME UP! If I were single this is something I would have actually been interested in - in the real world.
This LGBT friendly rom com was a bit of a struggle to get into at first - but once it got going around the 20(ish) percent mark I couldn’t put it down.
Both of our main characters have faced loss. Neither are prioritizing love at the moment. And like all classic Austen novels - love emerges in unlikely places.
3.5 stars!
A Season for Love is a perfect anecdote to your winter blues-funny, romantic, and a great combination of Jane Austen and modern life. Emma Love is a matchmaker who wants to bring love back in time to when people really got to know a person outside of dating apps and one night stands. So, she creates The Season, a series of regency events where love can flourish. You don't have to be a regency romance lover to appreciate this book, however. Romance readers of all types will find themselves enjoying the process and rooting for all of the characters to find love!
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Emma has recently taken over her mother’s matchmaking service and is launching a modern day regency style dating “season” with elaborate events and chances for participants to get to know each other. With all of this on her plate, finding a match for herself is not on the radar. However, as all the participants begin to pair up, Emma finds herself thrown together with one person over and over again.
I thought this was a cute idea and I enjoyed the concept of the modern day season. The events sounded amazing! I really struggled with the multiple POV and how little time we got with each character- it felt abrupt and honestly confusing at times. I think this would have been a really enjoyable read if the book had focused on fewer characters.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hera for the advanced reading copy!
"Are you sick of swiping right, of remote relationships, and of 21st century dating altogether? Then we request the honour of your company at a series of glittering social events. You are invited to make a debut in society and meet single people of good character and good standing with a view to forming real attachments and finding lasting love."
What a delightful read! I enjoyed A Season For Love a lot! I loved everything about it:
- The premise: the idea of telling modern love stories through the expedient of taking the protagonists back in time intrigued me sooo much!
- The characters: there are many characters in this book and a I loved them all. I really could not help but root for every single one of them!
- The plot: I loved watching every single character's story unfold and I loved the way in which all the stories got entertwined in the end... just like in a typical Shakespearean tale.
- The end: happy endings for everyone! I mean, what could I ask for more?!
Thank you NetGalley and Hera Books for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hera books for the eARC of this delightful, fresh book.
A Season for Love gives similar vibes to the “Valentines Day” and “New Years Eve” movies from the early 2000s. We’re introduced to a full cast of unique, interesting characters as they set out to find true, lasting love at Emma Love’s Season. The Season a contemporary take on the Jane Austen marriage season that reads quite like the Netflix show Bridgerton.
Emma Love, who from the blurb I had originally assumed was the FMC, is the daughter of renowned matchmaker Emma Love - yes, they share the same name - creator of the matchmaking service Love’s Love. (It’s a bit corny, I’ll give you that). She attempts to step out of her mothers shadow with the matchmaking Season to end all doubts - although it might not be the easiest decision financially.
We’re introduced to her older step brother Josh, recently divorced and yet still full of good humor. We meet three schoolmistress best friends: Lydia, Annie and Jane. Jane is Josh’s ex - but it was amicable. Annie may or may not have been in love with someone since she was in grade school. Lydia isn’t sure she believes in all this grand love hubbabaloo. We also meet Tom, a widower who is still trying to figure out which is up and which is down.
Overall, I’d give this story 3.5 stars. The first half was very hard to follow. Storylines were constantly changing and there was genuine character depth and growth throughout. For me, the last 50% really hit it out of the park. Everything was tied in a sweet, heartfelt bow and the world was righted, if just for the night.
If your a fan of the Jane Austen era, the Netflix show Bridgerton, or getting 4 HEA for the price of 1, this may just be for you.
This was a very cute rom com with surprising depth and representation. I had a hard time following the characters at first but I fell in love with all of them! If this continues to a series I would definitely keep reading. Thank you to NetGalley and Hera books for the advances copy in exchange for my honest review.
Bridgerton meets 21st century London in this matchmaking love story. At first I found it difficult to keep up with the many stories being told but this web of love became comforting and I enjoyed rooting for each individual to not only sort through their past and personal issues but grow in order to be with the one they were meant to be with.
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am offering my honest opinion voluntarily.
This book is perfect for fans of Bridgerton and the Regency era.
This book was really engaging and had multiple POVs from really interesting and different characters. At the heart of the story, you have Emma Love who is determined to continue the success of the family business by switching up the London dating scene. All the other characters are so different and entertaining that it makes it really difficult to put the book down.
One minor thing I struggled with is how the friendship group could be so close but keep so many secrets from each other. However, it did not take away from how much I enjoyed this book.
Thank you Netgalley for accepting me to review this book.
This phrase is definitely apt for this book, but be still my heart- what a beauty of a book.
Ok not going to lie, straight off the bat I guessed the secrets of a couple of characters but I didn’t care. I loved everyone’s stories and their personal growth. I don’t think I can choose my favourite character. Although I think Tom stuck with me a lot throughout the book.
I LOVE the idea of a Regency dating season, and it would be something I would have loved to have done. Dress up and have so much fun.
This book was just a little bit of magic for me. I devoured it in one sitting. I was up until silly o clock reading (tired now!) As I just didn’t want to let anyone go. We see them grow as people and watch friends and relationships blossom. The best thing, well there will be another book. Thank god for that!! I need more of Emma and the gang in my life. I am nowhere near ready to let them all go.
I just loved it all. It stole my heart from the beginning and my sleep! It was just a gorgeous book and definitely the tonic I needed. I just want more….and now 🤭🤭 .
The writing just flows as it sucks you in as we go back into the time of chaperones and dances despite being in the 21st century. This most definitely has Hollywood film written all over it. It is romantic, and tear-inducing and tackles so many sensitive subjects. All without taboo and it is dealt with delicately and respectfully.
Just perfect.
The multiple POVs were surprising to me, I thought the book centered on Emma Love and Tom Knight. It tells the romance journey of 4 couples. I haven’t read any Jane Austen, but the Season gives me modern day Bridgerton vibes, especially with the announcement of each event and the letter updating on couple’s progress. It did feel a little bit of reality tv with 5 different POVs, reading did make a lot of sense given that it involves characters in-dating person dating. Having the different POVs help get to know each character better.
I’ve never really been a great fan of Regency romance, and my familiarity with the works of Jane Austen lies in the distant past. But I’ve rather enjoyed watching both series of Bridgerton, and there was plenty I recognised from its world of courtship between the pages of this book – a really original idea, so beautifully handled, and I thought it was an absolute delight.
It isn’t, of course, set in a “season” from the past – this is very much a contemporary story, as Emma picks up the reins at her mother’s well-established dating agency and comes up with an ambitious plan to build on its previous success, and prove herself as a matchmaker in the process. So, with the support of her brother, the idea of replicating a Regency season is born – and, as well as being the story of Emma’s own journey, the book follows the lives and romantic adventures of the individuals who sign up for her new venture.
The main characters (and, as well as Emma herself, I loved every one of them) are Annie, Jane and Lydia – all teachers, supportive friends who perhaps each have parts of their lives they prefer to keep hidden, even from each other. And they’re all looking for different things. Annie walked away from what might have been the perfect relationship many years ago, and this time might just be willing to settle for something slightly less than perfection; newly divorced Jane has yet to decide quite what she’s searching for, or if something different is what she wants to embrace, but her involvement enables her to make her choices; Lydia’s the fun one, immediately searching out the nearest bar, convinced that long-term relationships aren’t for her at all. And the book follows their separate lives – all the baggage and complications, the many ups and downs, the challenges and discoveries, the people who cross their paths – as they each feel their way to the possibility of their own happy ending.
And the book is structured around the events that make up the dating season – intricately planned by detail-obsessed Emma, inspired in their originality, and a total joy to watch each one unfolding. There are some lovely extra touches too – I particularly enjoyed the commentary in the scandal sheet, capturing developments and speculating on what was to come. Every character is really wonderfully drawn – and not just the women themselves (I had a particularly soft spot for Col, Colin, Colin Williams…!) – and although there are a lot of storylines going on simultaneously I never struggled for an instant to engage with every single one.
There are plenty of big issues, sensitively handled – and copious amounts of humour, often laugh-out-loud. And the author’s emotional touch is simply perfect, with quite a few moments that can’t help but bring a tear to the eye. And the romance? Well, I certainly loved it – sometimes fraught with difficulties, sometimes with problems that look impossible to resolve, but every embryonic relationship one I completely believed in. In her letter at the book’s end, the author asked “which couples really won your heart?” – and my answer would have to be every one of them.
And do you know the best thing of all? This is going to be a series, with another book to follow for the Christmas Season – and I’m already looking forward to it. I really loved this book – highly recommended to all!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me an early copy of the book in schange for my honest review.
Dating in the modern world has become impersonal and easy to hide behind an electronic screen. Enter Emma Love, daughter of Emma Love senior who has taken over her mother’s matchmaking business and comes up with a brilliant idea: dating, Jane Austen style. People sign up and attend Regency style events in search of their true love.
The novel actually follows several couples throughout the story. Annie, who runs into a childhood sweetheart, Lydia who’s one night stand is turning into anything but, Jane whom is discovering herself after a recent divorce and Tom, who is getting back out their after the loss of his partner. Of course our own Emma is a matchmaker who has never fallen in love. And her stepbrother has just run into his ex wife and his childhood sweetheart during the start of the Season.
I want to preface this by saying that I am terrible with names. And unforgiving all of these characters were introduced almost immediately in the book, along with the additions of extended family members. I was really overwhelmed trying to keep track of who was who. I enjoyed reading about each couple but I felt that the author could have easily written 4 separate stories to give us time to get a deeper view of the developing relationships with each couple. Emma and Tom’s fake dating could have been extended so much more and I would have been completely invested in seeing their relationship progress through a nice slow burn.
Overall and enjoyable read, 3.5 stars. I didn’t get a chance to meet the characters properly as we were following several couples and I didn’t have the opportunity to see their romances blossom
Emma has just taken over her mom's dating service after her mom retires. She now has the monumental task of updating the business to make it viable in modern times. However, she doesn't want to become just another digital dating site. She decides to host a Jane Austen style social season over the summer, culminating in a Regency inspired ball.
This book was adorable and I enjoyed the concurrent storylines of the cast of characters. They were all looking for some sort of connection - not necessarily a forever love. However, you never know what the Season will bring...
This was a great rom com, based on the wonderful 'Emma' by Jane Austen.
Our main girl, Emma, takes over the family business which is match-making agency. Emma wants to make it more appropiate for the modern world. She introdueces 'Season of Love' which brings singletons together via a season of balls to allow people to get to know each other.
Throughout the novel we are introduced to some key characters who play an important role in Emma's life and some who will go on to play an even bigger role.
This was a fun book to read. The characters were likeable and the plot was a nice take on an age old classic.
A great read.
Emma meet friends Jane and Lydia who work together. All of them are keeping secrets which are revealed as Emma tries to save her family dating agency through a series of Regency style events. Will they all end up with a special someone too?
A very relatable book with likeable characters. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced copy of this book.
This is a modern-day take on Jane Austen's Emma and regency romance/dating. The book had Bridgerton vibes, humour, comedy, romance, well written characters and an interesting plot and good development!
Highly recommended if you love everything I just said!
A Season For Love is a laugh out loud, completely uplifting rom com by Ally Sinclair.
When Emily's mum retires, she takes over the family business. Which is a dating agency. She has a few ideas and wants to mix things up. A Jane Austen - style regency season of glam events, where people take the time to get to know each other and find a match with no modern day apps in sight. Emma has no intention of finding her own Mr D'Arcy and wants to focus on the business, that is until Mr Knight gets under her skin.
I truly enjoyed the writing style of the book and the characters were believable and had a lot of lol moments. I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more from the author.
❤️I was gifted a e book copy of the book from net Galley /the author in exchange for a honest review.
This was just the RomCom I needed. Full of laughs and moments of whimsy - thanks to the setting and fun of dress ups, it was just the light hearted break my brain needed from all the usual angst and emotions I read.
Emma and her band of characters were a delight! Searching for love, falling in love and making me smile the whole story.
Fans of ensemble movies such as Valentine’s Day or He’s Just Not That Into You, will love Ally Sinclair’s A Season For Love.
A Season For Love follows a handful of hopefuls seeking to find their match. When Emma Love inherited her mother’s matchmaking business she knew it was in need of an update. Seeing that the 21st century version of dating hadn’t been working, Emma decides to take a page out of the past. She creates face-to-face events, reminiscent of Dickinson’s time, that focus on real life connections.
The book bounces back and forth between half a dozen different characters. In having such a large ensemble, Sinclair does a phenomenal job at representing love in all its forms. Readers are bound to identify with at least one love story.
This book was close to a five start read. I knocked a star off for the mere fact that there was a lot going on. I struggled at times to keep up with all of the characters and their story lines. I would have preferred for each chapter to be dedicated to one character. The lack of transition from character to character took me out of the story more than i would have liked.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

It is a fast paced, enjoyable romance novel with characters that have sizzling chemistry. I adored our heroine. I loved their hea.
You should check it out if you haven’t already!
I really liked this book. I'm not usually a fan of books that center around more than 2 characters but A Season For Love was THAT book.
I loved it!!!
Thank you Ally Sinclair and Hera book for providing an ARC of this book.
What a fun read! I liked how there were heavy nods to Jane Austen, without actually reusing any of her plots. Three very modern romances occur against a backdrop of Regency recreation.
A Season for Love by Ally Sinclair was a modern take on a classic romance. Matchmaker, Emma Love, has just taken over her mother's business. But wanting a new idea in her new adventure takes her back to the old-fashioned way. Recreating a courtship Jane Austen-style Regency Season of glamourous events is risky, but surely if it worked back then, it will work in the modern day. We follow Jane, Annie, Lydia, and Emma on their journey for love. This was a great read with a twist, mixing the old with the new that any romance lover will enjoy.
