This book is super cool! I would love to use it for my Grade 4 Science unit on sound! The author, Neil Nayyar is currently the world record holder for the youngest person who can play the most instruments. The book includes the name of each instrument, with an illustration of Neil playing that instrument and a short fact about the instrument, for example: Ocarina - This cute flute is one of the only musical instruments that can be baked! It is made from ceramic and they are thought to have been around for an amazing 12,000 years! The premise is simple but the writing and illustrations are really well done and I think that a lot of kids would be really interested in this book. The font is large, simple and clean. It is black on a light orange background. Some of the words can be fairly challenging, as it is a non-fiction, but I think that the amount of information is perfect and the illustrations will help with comprehension. I could see using this book as the start of an inquiry with my students. I would highly recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in the age 6-11 range, especially those interested in music. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!
