Vanessa Nakate

I love this series, not just for the well known and famous people that are featured in it, but also as a way to educate adults also with influential people from around the world whose names are not as familiar.

Vanessa for me was one of the lesser known, but after reading this book I am unsure why this is. I feel that other young activists get headlines around the world and yet I was unfamiliar with Vanessa’s story. And that is why these books are so important.

Read this.learn about his wonderful young Ugandan woman and her work to have climate change that affects Africa recognised world wide.

Such an important topic and incredible young woman to spotlight to tell this story to the younger generations. I'm constantly looking for books to add to my kids' library to broaden their perspective and this is a story that spotlights Africa in the climate conversation.

One small piece of feedback - there is a part of the story where the aunties are focused on finding a fiance and planning her wedding - I think I understand that it's included in the story as a comparison of what her family is focused on while she's the first to graduate from college - but it didn't feel like it added much to the progression of the broader storyline and the focus on her accomplishments with respect to climate change and raising Africa's profile in the conversation.

Overall - a great addition to this series of stories and the illustrations are gorgeous.

Vanessa Nakate is an up-to-date and relevant addition to the Little People Franchise.
I would sit along well with the Greta Thunberg book if teachers wanted to use this in the classroom - perfect for those in UKS1 and upwards.
The illustrations are bright and the story of Vanessa's fight to get Climate Change taken seriously in her country is empowering.

Firstly I love all of the little people big dreams series! When I first chose this book to read I had no idea who Vanessa Nakate was. She is an inspiration to use all and I can't wait to see what she does next in the world of climate change.
I was angry to read she was missed out of that picture and that people did not treat the effect of climate change on Africa as an issue.
The illustrations are eye catching and beautiful! These will good the attention of any child looking at this book!

Will recommend this story to others and she her journey with the world.

I love this series especially for young readers. How it highlights some very important people that most are well aware of but also highlights people that young minds should know more about. I’m so excited they finally have one of Vanessa Nakate and the import Work she is doing to protect our planet.

This is a wonderful series, introducing us to fascinating people. I did not know who Ms. Nakate is. She is a climate activist and her story is interesting, especially the observation of the inherent racism found in the progressive side of the political aisle. A short read, informative, well written and illustrated, I enjoy these series of books.

Vanessa was the oldest of five children in a city in Uganda. In school she learned about climate change but as if it was a problem for elsewhere, not Africa. At college she learned that Africa suffered the most from a problem caused elsewhere. Now she became an activist to stop climate change and the devastation it caused her home continent! The more aur children learn about the problem the better they can teach others!
The illustrations by Olivia Amoah are fun, simple, colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your public library!

Gorgeous book that explains really simply some concepts of climate change, the effects of large-scale climate change on countries that aren't contributing hugely to it, and of perseverance on climate justice.

When it comes to Climate Change, everyone knows Greta but the fight isn't being fought by just one person. This was a great insight into Vanessa's life, and her like-minded peers who are pushing for change.

This is another great addition to the Little People, Big Dreams biography series that my kids enjoy. In this title, we learned about Vanessa Nakate, a young climate activist from Africa. Vanessa's story was inspiring and hopeful, as she is raising her voice and standing up for her home continent. I recommend this book and the others in this series to inspire young change-leaders and activists everywhere!

I am a huge fan of the books in this series, and love it when a new book is released, the books allow younger readers to find out more about some of the most famous, and influential people that have been around.

The book is well written, easy to read and my daughter read it with me and we talked about Vanessa and her achievements so far and what she is doing to raise awareness of climate change and the affect that this is having, particularly on Africa and her home country of Uganda where she has seen the effects first hand.

The illustrations are great and bring her story to life, I hadn’t heard of her I will be honest and I did read up on her after.  The fact that she was cut out of the photo that was shared is awful and I am glad that she has used this to drive the cause forward.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended and another fabulous addition to this series
