Born into a family of successful pilots, Morag is used to flying high. But when a tragic accident above the clouds grounds her, could the future she'd always imagined be suddenly out of reach?

When she receives a call telling her that her beloved grandfather has been taken ill, Morag leaves her fast-paced life in London to return home to the tranquil Scottish Highlands. With her grandfather out of action, Morag has no choice but to take over flying the local route in his rickety old plane, ferrying locals across the beautiful islands of the archipelago.

But as the weather takes a dramatic turn, Morag is forced to crash-land on a remote island and suddenly finds herself far from civilisation and all alone. Then she discovers Gregor, the gruff and reclusive ornithologist taking care of the island for the season. Though the pair don't see eye to eye, Morag is forced to seek shelter at his cabin and it seems the pair are stuck together until help arrives. However long that may be . . .

As she awaits rescue, might Morag discover that a remote Scottish island, cut off from real-life, is exactly the place she needs to be?

I have read all of Jenny Colgans books so was looking forward to this, even though I’m used to reading books of hers which are part of a series. I wasn’t sure after reading the outline of the story what to expect but i loved it. The story focuses on Morag who is a likeable strong female character with a fantastic job as a pilot. She has had some difficulties but throughout the book we find her working through everything and ending up where she is supposed to be.
It started off slowly but after a few chapters I was engrossed and my heart was in my mouth towards the end (no spoilers) hoping for a safe and happy ending. I liked the fact there was romance but also other elements which the story focused on. I would definitely recommend buying this book and I’m hoping this may be the beginning of a new series for Jenny .
Thanks to Netgalley, Little brown book group UK and Jenny Colgan for an advanced copy in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.

This was a lovely story. Set on the Scottish Islands. The remoteness made you think. The setting was beautiful .Morag had lost her confidence in flying and this a story of her getting it back. The characters on the plane taxi are lovely and a happy love ending too. Another good book by Jenny Colgen.

Another charming and lovely read from Jenny - always reliable for a cosy book.

Morag is a pilot, from a family of pilots, so there was never any doubt that she would enter into the family business. Growing up, helping out with the family’s flight route on the highest points of Scotland to the islands, Morag knows being a pilot is all she wants to do. After flight school she moves onto the bigger airlines until a freak accident grounds her and leads her back home whilst she waits for her promotion interview.

Jenny describes the Scottish highlands and the people beautifully. Her characters are ones that readers can identify with easily and the story plays out well.

Already looking forward to the next book from Jenny!

Jenny Colgan has done it again! Picked this book up and literally couldn’t put it down.
Morag is a pilot and comes from a long line of pilots. Its her passion. Unfortunately, it isn't the greatest way to meet the love of your life. Airports aren't the most romantic place in the world, and neither are cockpits....
When something dramatic happens at work, she has to reassess her job, her lifestyle and what she wants.
You will fall in love with the characters, the scenery, the animals (apparently in Scotland you have pet goats, not dogs!) and hopefully, with a bit of luck, Morag will fall in love too.
#TheSummerSkies by Jenny Colgan is published on June 8th 2023. Pre-order now.
And I have to say, I do hope this will turn into a series, I would love more!

Thoroughly enjoyed this calming book with such breathtaking descriptions of Scotland's most remote locations and how island life is both hard work and incredibly rewarding.
There's a lot of character development and wonderful cameos (including a goat, my personal favourite!)
I enjoyed every page of it

I loved this new offering from Jenny Colgan. Keeping with her theme of being set in the Scottish Isles, this book did not disappoint.
Morag is a pilot who has had a terrible experience while doing her job. As she tries to put her life back together, she finds herself taken back to the Scottish isles that she knows and loves but didn't plan to return to living in.
As things take a dramatic turn due to a storm, will being cut off in a remote island help her to reset her life and rediscover what is important??

A fabulous book, with excellent imagery. absolutely loved it.

A lovely story about Morag, who is the lead character in this novel, her character was well drawn. Jenny Colgan is such a good author and tells a tale like no other. Her style is unique in my opinion. I really enjoyed the book.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the novel.
