Review:
I'll keep the review short as the story is short. I do not have children of my own. Unless you count my four dogs. Which I do. I do have quite a few friends that have children. I even have a few friends that are grandparents or about to be. So I read these books to give them recommendations of adorable books. This is definitely one of them that I would recommend. It's not only adorable, it's also educational as well. It gives a very important lesson that I feel all children should hear about. The importance of being unique. The illustrations are so cute, too!!!
A delightful children's picture book that teaches the importance of being true to yourself. Emme loves her clothes and accessories, but she especially loves one item. When she wears it to school two days in a row, her friends start to tease her. Through her experience, Emme learns the valuable lesson that being an individual is more important than fitting in with the crowd. With beautiful illustrations and relatable storytelling, "The Sparkly Bun" is a must-read for children of all ages.
What a fun story! I love the creativity and humor that went into making this picture book. 'The Sparkly Bun' follows Emme who loves wearing her sparkly bun even if it desperately needs to be washed. At school when she sees what her friends are wearing, she comes home wanting her parents to buy the same items. Her parents teach her that being unique is what makes her special. You don't have to have everything your friends do. Your friends love you exactly as you are. She then forges her own path forward sticking to who she is as a person.
The story is filled with encouraging text and charming illustrations. This is an important message for kids to hear told in a funny and relatable way.
Highly recommend kids to read this.

Oh WOW! This book needs to be in every school, pre-school, daycare and home for adults to read to the children. The illustrations are fabulous, colorful and on point. But this message..... fabulous! Every child needs to learn and be taught that it is ok not to have what their friends have and to be their own person. Such a great book and message!

This is a sweet little book about being yourself and not worrying about what others are doing. This is a great message for children and can be used as a conversation starter as well as a theme for, ie, a craft activity. I love the illustrations! Highly recommended.
Adorable children's book with a great message. The drawings are cute and overall a great children's read.
Adorable children's picture book with a great story and cute illustrations that children will enjoy.
I thought it was a lovely picture book that will certainly appeal to kids who are already starting to choose their own outfits and thinking about how they want to express themselves through fashion. The illustrations were really cute and I love that all the characters wear different hamburger bun outfits and the main character in the end sews her own unique outfit.
P.S. I just wanted to point out that I think maybe there's an issue with the file when you read it on the Kindle app. When I read it on Kindle (on my phone), the file had no words, so I thought it was a wordless picture book at first... until I saw a sample on Amazon had words. I tried reading the ARC on the NetGalley app, and this time it had words, which clarified the plot. It could be an issue with my Kindle app, so I don't know if that's really a problem, but I thought I should mention it.
Keith Stoeckler's The Sparkly Bun is an unexpected delight about a young girl who learns to dare to be different. I'll admit that I thought this book would be about a hairstyle and I laughed out loud when I saw that everyone is actually adorned in hamburger buns!! Emme thinks that she has to wear the same buns as her friends to fit in but her parents help her realize that it's so much better to stand out.
This is an amazing book with an important message. I can't wait to add it to my classroom library.
