Description

It’s Daisy’s first day at the hospital and she has to go on a ride in a wheelchair. At first, she’s unsure of this funny looking chair with wheels. But once she's rolling along, her confidence grows. From the seat of her wheelchair, she meets new people like a girl with an IV, and men transporting a gurney. And by the end of her first WOOOOOSH, WOOOOOSH hospital wheelchair ride, she makes it through the scary experience of getting a shot with the help of her new doctor and nurse friends.

In the hospital, there are many strange sites, smells, and sounds. This book help children prepare for an experience that will be new and different, and helps them understand that different doesn't mean bad or scary.

In this age of medical downsizing, many medical tests are done in hospitals rather than in doctors' offices, so this introduction is very timely. Anything new is scary and even the word medical test is scary, but this little book introduces several things that might be seen at a hospital. Great for kids and more whose mothers are no in paramedical fields.
The illustrations by Abdullah Chaudry are fun, colorful, and delightful while making it clear what is happening.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school, doctor's office or your public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from the author/independently published via NetGalley. Thank you!

This picture book does a great job explaining hospitals to children! As someone who spent a lot of time in hospitals and doctor's offices as a chronically ill child, this book would have been so helpful in making hospitals less scary for me. The illustrations are colorful and show diverse characters. The illustrations and text help children understand what they might see and experience at a doctor's appointment. I highly recommend this needed book for all children!

A delightful children's book that tackles a potentially scary topic with grace and positivity. The story follows Daisy on her first day at the hospital, and the wheelchair ride that initially makes her nervous. However, with the help of her new doctor and nurse friends, she overcomes her fears and learns that the hospital can be a welcoming and friendly place. The illustrations are charming and the message is clear: different experiences can be exciting and fun. This is a must-read for any child who may be anxious about a hospital visit.

Cute children’s book showing children there’s nothing to be afraid of when it comes to hospitals. The personnel that are in the hospital are there to help. Daisy was very curious about different things and as her day went on the hospital team educated her on the things she had questions on. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback!
