Description

A deadly crash on the shores of a French abbey. A political conspiracy. A military lawyer betrayed.

Captain Storm DeVries has been held back from a promotion to prosecute Major Skylar Diggs for joyriding twenty-eight souls to their deaths. She believes the Air Force has been too lenient with pilots who care more about their “Top Gun” antics than the value of human life.

Storm is a general’s daughter and is just as loyal to the Air Force as her father is. But she knows Diggs is guilty. The question is whether she can prove it. There are no witnesses, the cockpit voice recorder is missing, and Diggs isn’t talking.

Then Storm gets a mysterious phone call that takes her down a path of secrets, lies, and conspiracies. It will not only challenge the core of her beliefs, but it will also lead her into grave danger. Will she have the courage to reveal what the most powerful military in the world is so desperate to conceal?

*****Just wow... this legal thriller really kept me gripped to the story line from start to finish! Following Storms journey of endless hurdles, I found myself eager to find out more. This story is full of twists & turns. I loved KJ Sutherland's writing and found it so easy to follow. I highly recommend this read! Dani--Bookstagrammer/Exploring The Page Review

***** I loved this book. Paced like a Dan Brown with a fantastic opening that brought me in early on. A legal procedural thriller that reminded me of everything I enjoyed about watching "A Few Good Men". Likeable and believable characters who will have more stories to tell - I was lucky to receive an early copy and battered through it in under a day, stopping only because I had to. Much appreciated book. Marion--Goodreads Review

*****Although this is tagged as a legal thriller, the courtroom side of things was only a small part of this. In truth, it's a story of dirty dealings, double-crossing, covering your rear end and lust for power. In the midst of all this stands Storm, whose rigid adherence to the mantra of right and wrong threatens to derail her whole career. I was hooked on this right from the start with the passenger jet crash and didnt expect things to go the way they went. There's plenty of intrigue and action, and it's a really fast-paced read that I struggled to put down. I hope there's not long to wait for the next in the series as I look forward to seeing what case Storm ends up with. Mary--Goodreads Review

***** Really enjoy a strong female character in a book that grips you from the beginning. Intense and full of twists and turns that keep you guessing until the end. Hard to put this book down. Good read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Rhonda--BookBub Review

***** I really enjoyed this story, an excellent page turning conspiracy thriller. Storm's character was very believable as she fights for justice and then struggles to accept the outcome. I thought the storyline was original even though the motives were the usual ones, power and greed. Read with pleasure! Houston--BookBub Review

A fairly short, fast and punchy thriller. It has a legal air to it, but more heavily a military, political focus.
It features Storm, a military lawyer who is given a case where she is intended to prosecute the pilot for an error causing the death of 28 individuals. However as she uncovers things it becomes clear that the pilot is not guilty and her father, a General in the military is implicated also.
As she gets closer the wagons circle and it becomes clear that anyone will be thrown under the bus to preserve their careers. Faced with ruining her own career and that of others to maintain justice is a massive ask and she is tested to enth degree on how to manoeuvre the situation amidst so much corruption.
Tense, with layers and lots of twists, an absorbing, easy read
