Is this over already?! I kept turning the pages but I reached the end and now, I am sad.
This was such an incredible little story with stunning illustrations! We hear the story of Stefan, a little boy at the Incredible Hotel who's only wish is to become a pastry chef. When a duchess comes visiting the hotel, Stefan has a chance to make the best profiterole tower in imagination to amaze the duchess and save the day. I adored this story to bits, it was so unique and cute! I had massive Grand Budapest Hotel vibes, but it was unique enough to not feel like straight out of a Wes Anderson film. I loved the art style and the way the story was built up. Once it comes out in September this year, I highly recommend you all to pick it up for yourselves!
Thanks to Netgalley/the publisher for granting me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A really warm story for little kids. The artwork is A M A Z I N G!!!! The colours are absolutely beautiful.
This is a cute story about a little boy's role in a grand hotel. Stefan is greatly underappreciated until disaster strikes! I am in love with the illustrations! They are beautiful! His profiterole tower! 🤩 The chosen font compliments the illustrations. The story flows well. It's very inclusive of all ethnicities which is fantastic. This would make a lovely addition to any bookshelf.
This book is absolutely wonderful! I loved every bit from the illustrations to the characters. It made me want to go home and bake something delightful.
The illustrations in this book were gorgeous. Stefan’s positive attitude was sweet and delightful. I believe that the message of the book is perfect for young readers. I know that my son would enjoy this book.
I love this book! I have baked with my grandkids since they were toddlers and they love it. This book was so much fun to read not only because of the baking bit also discussing the importance of having dreams and never giving up. This Nana absolutely recommends The Incredible Hotel! Thanks #NetGalley
The Incredible Hotel is filled with colorful and lavish illustrations. I loved the comic strip feel of some of the pages. The story follows Stefan, a kitchen porter with dreams of becoming a chef. No one else on staff believes he has what it takes but he persists and eventually saves the day by baking a delicious profiterole tower for the Duchess. This book explores themes of hard work, determination, and valuing every role-- big or small! One of my favorite picture books in a while.
Stefan is a kitchen porter at a hotel but he dreams of being a chef. The chef at the Incredible Hotel is far from nice to Stefan and he gets laughed at. Everyone at this hotel has a role and knows their job. By everyone knowing what to do is what helps the hotel run like a well oiled machine. Stefan didn't give up on his dream even though he was being laughed at.
The book is about believing in your dreams and not letting anyone laugh at you and tell you that you can’t do something that you truly want to. The illustrations are great throughout the book. This is a really cute book.

"A stunning, nostalgic picture book about a beautiful hotel and the people who stay, live and work there."
What a gorgeous children's book! The illustrations are incredible and the story is heartfelt. Highly recommend to teachers, caregivers, and professionals.
The Incredible Hotel
I read this book and immediately imagined reading it to a class eagerly hanging off every word. It’s such a fun story with the Eve important message of never giving up on your dreams.
The hotel runs like clockwork and it’s a the most incredible place to stay. One day they are expecting a royal visitor who is demanding the most amazing profiterole tower imaginable. Stefan is sneered upon and his ideas dismissed which leads to a catastrophic unfolding of events. Can Stefan save the day?
With gorgeous and humour images and text that imprints in the imagination, this book has important messages under the humour and fun. We should never underestimate the value of someone and we should never give up chasing our dreams! A really great book for capturing and holding the attention of young children and adults alike.
I loved everything about this cute book! I read it to my grandchildren and it held their attention. The colors and illustrations were spot on. I will definitely be buying this book!
This was such a lovely picture book about Stefan, a kitchen porter at The Incredible Hotel who dreams of becoming a chef. But he's just a kitchen porter who brews a not that good coffee in the morning and assists the actual chef of the hotel.
But one day the Duchess of Delaunay announces she'll go to the hotel and she'll want to eat a tower of profiterols, her favorite dessert. Stefan tries to help the chef who's having some difficulty making the tower stand tall and straight, but all he achieves is getting fired. And with him gone, there's nobody to brew the coffee in the morning, nobody to smell something burning in the oven, nobody to sound the alarm of a fire starting in the kitchen.
Firefighters are called, but it's too late. The dessert is ruined, the Duchess is at the hotel and her dessert is not ready. But that's when Stefan barges in, ready to help after seeing the smoke in coming from the hotel and he has a beautiful and delicious tower of profiterols in his hands!
Loved the drawings, loved the story, loved Stefan's determination in following his dreams!
Stefan is a porter at the Incredible Hotel and he dreams of becoming a chef one day.
This is a story with a very uplifting message. The illustration is beautiful too.
4.5/5 stars
The Incredible Hotel by Kate Davies was an absolute pleasure to read! It's a charming picture book that follows aspiring chef, Stefan, as he attempts to prove his worth in the kitchen. The story was easy to read and the illustrations were stunning and vibrant. Each picture has so much detail to point out and discuss with children, and it would make for an awesome bedtime story for any kid!

My 7 year old and I loved this story about kitchen porter, Stefan, who works at The Incredible Hotel.
First, the illustrations in the book are BEAUTIFUL! We loved pouring over the details and finding new, fun items in the images.
The story was easy to follow and an enjoyable read all around. I also loved the themes of pursuing your dreams, and no job is too small.
It's a fun story for kids. I'd like to get a copy of this book for my niece, and the illustrations are stunning. I'd also like to visit the Incredible Hotel and meet Stefan!
Stefan works as the kitchen porter for the INCREDIBLE HOTEL. He brews the coffee in the morning, does the dishes and all the heavy lifting in the kitchen. But what he Really wants to do is bake.
I loved this book, the illustrations are gorgeous. I love a good fantastical story, set in pretty kingdoms.
This is a fun tale, of a boy following his dreams and saving the day.
I thought that this book was brilliant!
Such a good story, it was well written, easy to follow and lots of fun too – exactly what I look for in a book to read with my daughter – and she enjoyed it immensely
I loved the underlying theme to the story as well that the lower level staff can really be the key to keeping the operations running as is shown in this one – and boy does everything go wrong when Stefan the Kitchen Porter leaves!
The illustrations in the book are lovely and really suit the book and helped to bring it to life.
It is 5 stars from me for this one, a great story – very highly recommended!!
What a great read! This children's book is filled with quirky illustrations and fun characters. The story is about a young boy's dream to become a chef. I loved everything about it. The rich and colourful visuals, the myriad of personalities, the writing style and the message to pursue your dream, believe in yourself while being helpful to others. The lead character's kind heart allows him to save the day and shine.
The Incredible Hotel is about people working in a hotel. I got attracted by that description - oh, wow, this book will teach children what goes on in a hotel. It’s a story about a hotel and its staff members - a manager, a chef, and a kitchen porter.
More than the story, the illustrations are simply captivating. It is full of details, there is no corner of the page that will not leave you uninterested. Like the blurb says, the book has a style that evokes Wes Anderson-esque imaginary worlds. And it is true. Everything on the page is done with more attention and detail than one can imagine.
Read it for the story, stay for the illustrations.

A truly amazing and beautiful book.
This is so inspiring for kids and the artwork is so wonderful.

"The Incredible Hotel" is a captivating story set in the enchanting city of Delaunay. It follows Stefan, a kitchen porter with dreams of becoming a chef. When a fire breaks out during the Grand Ball, Stefan must save the day. The book's vivid descriptions bring Delaunay to life, and Stefan's determination and quick thinking make him a likable protagonist. While some secondary characters could have been further developed, the story's pacing and positive message about following one's dreams make it an enjoyable read for all ages.
(thank you for the arc Netgalley)
What a beautiful book !!!
I read this with my youngest daughter who is 4 this morning, and we have read it 3 times since ! A lovely story about following your dreams and helping others even when they haven’t been very nice.
The illustrations have just beautiful detail, the cakes look good enough to eat and we wish this hotel existed is real life.
I will definitely be buying this book for her book shelf so we can keep on enjoying this story and she has added it to her favourite books off the year ☺️ for now she is in her kitchen becoming a pastry chef making me lots of cakes to try ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We loved reading this beautiful story set in the kitchen of a hotel in the run up to a visit from a very important guest. Everything runs smoothly until it doesn’t and then the power of determination and teamwork saves the day. We loved the messages of believing in yourself and dreaming big and the illustrations were beautiful. There was so much to look at on every page, my daughter and I kept going back to see what else we could spot.
A lovely story to share and one that would make a great book to read or study in class too.
My four year old son and I both really enjoyed this engaging book. The illustrations are gorgeous. The message in book is a great one for children. Follow your dreams, work hard, and that everyone plays an important roll whether it is big or small. A really lovely children’s book.
I've just read this with my 4 year old nephew and we both loved it. Every day at the Incredible Hotel begins with Stefan waking up to make the coffee but what he really wants is to become a chef. When the hotel starts preparing for a very important guest, Stefan tries to help Chef Zagat to build the biggest most profiteroley tower ever but Chef Zagat doesn't want his help and makes Stefan leave the hotel.
The illustrations in this book are so detailed and the story is lovely. Obviously we had to have profiteroles afterwards too!

I love picture books and this one is fantastic. Cakes feature a lot which makes it even better! The Incredible Hotel follows Stefan as he works hard in The Incredible Hotel and dreams of being a pastry chef despite no-one else believing he can be one. After a disaster on the Hotel's 100th birthday Stefan saves the day and his dream comes true.
The illustrations are beautiful and add to the text. I love the extras of spotting the cat and mouse on each page.
A lovely book about believing in yourself and following your dreams even if people try to stop you
This gave me all the late 90s vibes of children's books and I loved it! I definitely want this one on my daughters book shelf!
Thanks @netgalley for the eARC!
This was an adorable story that really tugged at my mama heart. My kids also loved it - which is the biggest compliment!
5 ⭐️
A very cute story and the illustrations are marvelous. This story does a wonderful job of portraying that everyone, no matter their position, is important and that hard work can lead to great opportunities.
I also appreciate that there was a redemption arc for a character that acted out under extreme stress and that they were later able to make amends for their actions. In children's books, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of thought for redemption for secondary characters. This book not only allowed for the character’s redemption arc, but tied the redemption into an accomplishment for the main character.
Would recommend.
This book has a subtle message that we should not deter others from showcasing their talents! We should also ensure that we are being kind to others and not put them down, as it can hurt their feelings. This book was cute. It also showed that one piece to a puzzle goes missing, and an entire day can then be off the rails! The illustrations were beautiful, the characters were engaging, and the wording was lovely. Would absolutely recommend this book to others to show what an impact one person can have on everyone around them (good or bad).
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! This is such an adorable book! Great story, beautifully illustrated and written! This book talks about being mean to someone and putting others down and what consequences can occur when we do so. I love how at the end the chef sees how she was rude and tries to make it right. Very sweet book.
Children’s book about a beautiful hotel, the people that stay there, the people that live there and the people work there. Everything runs smoothly thanks to the great Stefan that is a jack of all traits.
This was so heartwarming! It inspired you to pursue your dreams with determination. The art style is also very gorgeous. I'll definitely read it again later.

I read this book for free thanks to NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback. This beautifully illustrated children's story is a great tale of a wanna be chef giving dreams of rising above others expectations of him, and pricing himself to the most difficult judges. I look forward to reading this story again with a class.
This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters and feel theirs struggles.
I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was.
I will definitely recommend!
Sweet story about the Incredible Hotel's young kitchen porter whose dream of becoming a chef seems out of his reach until a fire in the kitchen gives him the chance to save the day and make his dream come true. Water color and pencil illustrations
are integral to telling the story of on young chef's impressive profiterole. This will appeal to children in many ways. Historically, the Profiterole was brought to France from Italy by Catherine De Medici when she married the King of France, King Henry II. Recipes for the creme puff could be compared. Hotel management and the workers needed could be studied. I highly recommend The Incredible Hotel.
Thank you to Frances Lincoln Children's Books, an imprint of The Quarto Group, and Netgalley for the digital arc.
I love books where the setting is in hotels, I love discovering more about the people staying or working in them, the little mysteries and adventures, it reminds me when I used to watch Eloise at the Plaza, I used to love those movies/books when I was a kid, The Incredible Hotel brought me back all those nice feelings.
The illustrations were so nicely done, there’s so many details in every single page it’s impossible to go through them without first analyzing every little detail.
I really loved everything about The Incredible Hotel and I’m sure all the kids reading this book will as well.
