Description
Set in middle school, Gilbert grapples with bullying, neglect, nightmares. The point of the story is how for many adolescents there is no one to turn to, no safe place. (Note...I did all the writing and illustrations myself. It's not professional grade art. But maybe it could be outsider art. I would love to reach parents and educators, and ESL readers in particular. I taught middle school for 15 years in LA; events during that time inspired the book. Most of my students were reading at elementary level so there are 2 levels of text. One easy one more in-depth.
