The product of a collaboration between PEERS Alliance and the PEI Writers' Guild, the multi-genre selections in Are We Friends Now are the result of several months of workshopping and brainstorming at the Queer Youth Writing Club, and also include pieces from adult volunteers. ‘Are We Friends Now?’ Is an anthology book featuring short stories, both fiction and non-fiction, and poems by 2SLGBTQ+ young people from Prince Edward Island. I thought this was an enjoyable read, as it was short but sweet and contained lots of different viewpoints and writing styles, which I found interesting and refreshing. I liked knowing that the writers were all part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in some way, as this felt more relatable to me as a reader, and I really enjoyed reading their stories. I would recommend this to anyone interested in queer stories/authors or poetry.
