Each person she meets shows Calli how they each deal with their pain but Calli eventually discovers that their solutions are only mere deceptions. She decides to leave and her journey leads her through different towns within the forest, each with a different lur to keep her trapped in a place she once thought was safe. Between Two Kingdoms is an allegory which depicts humankind's need for the true Healer.
