Absolutely beautiful book. I loved the illustrations and color schemes, and the use of real photos. Very informative (I even learned some things!) and a great book to spark conversations about conservation.
This book is both beautiful and informative, and my kids enjoyed hearing about the animals.
Each turn of a page brings you to a new part of the world, like the Galápagos Islands or The Amazon river basin. Several animals are highlighted from each region, with clear explanations of why the animals are endangered.
This book brought up so many questions from my kids about things like climate change and how we can help the animals, making it a great book to spark discussions with kids and to get them interested in real life topics and opportunities for change.
The illustrations are well done, and I liked how photos were also incorporated.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Gorgeous book highlighting a very important topic, and in a way that children can understand. My daughter enjoyed looking at this with me very much! She is an animal lover and we both learned something new.
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!
A great book about endangered animals across the world. Each section features a different habitat and goes through the animals endangered there. It talks about the problems that they are facing there too. I loved this one. Full of great info, it will help introduce kids to the importance of preserving our habitats!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my copy!
This book is beautifully illustrated, the bright colours entice you to pick it up and flick through. I really liked the way the way the book is sectioned, with an understanding of what being endangered means, why animals are endangered and then into section based on geographical location. It is easy to read through with my child and full or interesting facts. Including extinct animals as well was a bonus. An informative book for children, and their parents!
LOVED THIS! It was the perfect combination of education and beautiful imagery to keep my kids engaged! I thought this would be great for them to learn and I learned a lot along the way, too! I would absolutely purchase this for my home and other parents of little ones. Beautifully done!
I would like to thank Quarto Publishing Group - words and pictures, as well as NetGalley for the advanced electronic copy of this book! We really enjoyed it and recommend it to other families!
Such a cute read! Love learning about different animals in specific geographical locations. Great for a classroom! Specially when learning about a certain area. I’m interested to know what the age frame is for this book. Hoped not to young. As it was wordy.
This is a beautiful book. I love the way the book is separated into different areas. I think this helps children visualize where the animals live, seeing them all on the same pages. The colors and illustrations are bright and engaging. Definitely a great resource to teach children about endangered animals!
Such a cute book on endangered animals! The illustrations and typography are beautiful, so colorful. And each page is filled with fun, informative facts about the endangered animals organized by region of the world. I love that it helps readers learn about geography as well as the animals themselves. Also love the index and glossary in the back. My animal-loving kiddos will love this!
I received this arc via netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This was an excellent voyage around the world, learning about endangered animals. The animals are grouped into habitats with each habitat given a two-page spread featuring one endangered animal and with a few other endangered animals from the same habitat given smaller sections around it. Each habitat is marked on the globe in the upper right which is a really nice detail and helped give context. Each animal has several interesting facts and statistics about it, its conservation status, and the reason(s) it is threatened.
Kiddo (9) loved it and listened rapt at bedtime, occasionally interjecting comments and questions.
The illustrations are colorful and engaging, and the animals show personality through their expressions.
The book finishes up with a section on extinct animals and a little bit about why each went extinct, and a final section on conservation as a job, various methods used, and how we shouldn't give up hope.
Kiddo and I both enjoyed it very much and I can see it appealing to 2nd-4th graders as a read-aloud and to slightly older kids who can read it to themselves. There's a lot of information packed into this book and I highly recommend it.
*Thanks to NetGalley, Quarto, and words & pictures for providing an early copy for review.
