Description
After a fire destroys her home, Abby Bennett emerges from the hospital horribly scarred. Her husband has abandoned her, and her two little boys are—gone.
Determined to reclaim her life and get her boys back, Abby returns to her hometown in Iowa. With the help of a reclusive neighbor, Jack, she begins renovating her sister’s rental property. But the old cottage has a tragic past—a grisly unsolved murder.
When Abby sees images of the victims—a mother and her children—in a mirror above the fireplace, she realizes it holds the key to solving the decades-old mystery. As Abby embarks on a quest to unmask the murderer, she learns that evil from the past still has the power to destroy. Will she sacrifice everything she’s worked so hard for to set right an old wrong?
A Note From the Publisher
Corinne Malcolm Ibeling comes from a long line of Iowans-farmers, coal miners, and even a couple of circus owners. Her experiences living in small-town Iowa serves as inspiration for the settings and characters of her novels. However, her only real-life experience with ghosts was living in an old house where footsteps were occasionally heard at night going up and down the stairs.

Featured Reviews
A big thank you to NetGalley and Black Rose Writing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Not sure if this is part of a series? I found this to be an interesting book. Abby was hurt in a fire trying to save her twin boys. To me, it seemed like people didn't treat her as an adult-they never told her the truth after she was out of the hospital. At least it wasn't mentioned in the book. Abby helps her sister renovate an old house and becomes determined to find out the truth about the past of what happened in the house. She also meets Jack who also has scars and a past. I enjoyed reading this-and seeing how Abby overcame obstacles and grew to be strong again. 4 stars
