Description
1963, London’s East End. Ken, mixed-race bisexual gigolo, wants to know why his friend and protector Charlie is dead. Did he really die the way his widow Maggie claims?
The cops are talking murder. And why is she taking such a close personal interest in Ken? Maybe she's just another woman after his golden body. Or maybe it's because Charlie’s illegal drinking den, with its pulsing ska music and racial mixing, is in debt to the East End’s most ruthless gangsters.
And Maggie doesn’t want to pay. Ken doesn’t know whether he’s falling in love – or taking the bait.
Advance Praise
"An unexpected masterpiece! The author has a truly unique style and holds his own among the great fiction writers of this genre. You are totally hooked from the first chapter. The writer deals with uncomfortable social issues, which he uses as the backdrop of the brilliant storyline with a dizzying sequence of twists and turns that hold you captive to the very last page.'
'I really enjoyed this book despite some of the hard hitting language of 1963. Great story which left me wanting more. Well written and easy to read, can’t wait for the next novel.'"

Charlie's Little Secret isn't your usual crime story, for this is a rough, tough time around the early 1970s in London, where punishment was handed out with no beg pardons by gangs, including the Kray twins.
Jump aboard with Ken, for this is going to be a bumpy ride as he is trying to stay safe and gradually coming to understand that his life relies on a diary that many people want.
Thank you, Gerry Duffy, for an outstanding first printed novel; hopefully there are more to come.
