This book is an AMAZING resource for anyone getting into embroidery. I became very casually interested in embroidery during the pandemic and had only done the kits you can purchase off of Amazon or at craft stores but was interested in learning more and being able to do my own projects. This book gives you step by step instructions for projects (including traceable templates), bonus challenges, other ideas for how to use embroidery, and teaches you how to do a variety of stitches. I will absolutely be referring to this book time and time again and fully plan to commit to the 30 days of projects!

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

This is so great! My friend made me an embroidery hanging for my birthday, inspiring me to try to do more on my own. I like how this has 30 designs I can start with to work on my skills, as well as detailed pictures and instructions. It also includes tips if you want to try embroidering accessories like bags or shirts! Can't wait to start on these 30 designs.

I've done cross stitch as a hobby for years but never embroidery. I fancied giving it a go but had no real idea where to start so needed a guide for the complete novice, and this is the book for that. It covers every piece of equipment you will need, provides templates for the projects (and even suggests which pen is best used to put the transfer on your work) and shows you how to finish each work to display.

Clearly laid out with projects that start from the basic to more complicated stitches, I really liked the fact that even the first project with the most basic stitch left me with something beautiful. Each project is lovely in its own right and helps you build on what you're producing to help you gain confidence for bigger works in the future. I can't wait to work my way through them all!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in return for an honest review.

The book design is charming and appealing, the chosen colour palette for the book matches the vibes of the embroidery pattern. This book has made me want to pick up a new project to try some of these out. The book is relatively beginner friendly and the designs are appealing and modern, well suited for younger and new embroiderers.

This is such a great collection of embroidery stitches! I cannot wait for the physical book to come out so I can have the traceable patterns! So many different projects with all the instruction you need!

Great beginner level embroidery designs and instructions. Cute modern designs. I will purchase a copy for our middle school library and use it with our embroidery and sewing club. Nice clear instructions for each stitch and I like the concept of the 30 day challenge. Starts with basic stitches and each subsequent design adds instructions for another stitch. I have been embroidering for many years but I’ll be using this book to make some lovely gifts also.

Thanks NetGalley for the digital arc.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook.
Beautiful photos and easy to read instructions. Such cute patterns and perfect for all levels of embroidery. These would be really cute for Christmas gifts, pillow cases, aprons etc. I can't wait to try some.

I have been learning how to embroider lately, so this book is right up my alley.

It has good description of each stitch, and a fun layout. I enjoyed that each mini project featured one type of stitch and could be completed in a couple of hours. The designs for the projects are cute and modern, and I want to make each and every one.

Thank you to Quarto Publishing group-Quarry for providing me with an ARC of this book to read and review.

What a beautiful book! Full of fun projects that are well-planned and executed.

Standouts for me: illuminate, lovely lemons, and day at the beach.

I felt it was well laid out, and explained clearly and it helped me grow my repertoire as an embroiderist.

This book is adorable! It takes basic embroidery stitches and makes such cute designs. This is fu. For beginners and advanced embroidery fans! Challenging the reader to do a new project each day is so fun! I’m a big fan of this book and can’t wait to challenge myself!

A great book for beginners in embroidery. Detailed instructions and illustrations will help the reader to get a new hobby. The interesting idea of the challenge gradually improves the skills of the embroiderer.

I loved the idea of a 30-day challenge to jumpstart a new skill or to refresh an old one. I thought the Embroidery Challenge might be something that I could dip into for myself if I wanted to learn a new stitch or refresh my skills as well as using it to teach my grand-daughter to embroider. I still have memories of tray clothes and crinoline ladies that I would rather not dredge up! This uncomplicated and pleasingly present book contains 30 projects which are cleanly presented without excess words. All the projects look like something that could be completed quickly and not cost a lot. The project gallery begins with the basic stitches and become manageably more complex. My own favourite is ‘dandelion wishes’ as it uses a stitch I’ve never seen before and because the finished project is very stylish. I also like the fact that the embroideries are worked on different colour backgrounds. All the projects would make cute gifts, could easily be turned into cards or could transform a room with a personal touch. I shall be buying a job lot of embroidery hoops.
Key information and guidance at the start of the book provides clear advice to ensure that a novice stitcher ends up with a beautiful finished piece. All the projects are presented on a double page spread using a standard format. Each stitch is explained with the help of a diagram. It helped to have a sample of the finished stitch to look at while working the instructions. The chattiness, personal asides and tips ensured that the instructions were all manageable for a novice stitcher. My grand-daughter and I loved the bonus challenge and the ideas for what embroidery might be used for – no tray cloths or endless framed pictures here- I’m delighted to report. Jessica Anderson has produced a book which is a keeper.

If you ever wanted to get started with embroidery, this is the book for you.

It teaches you 30 different stitches and for each one you get a cute pattern to put that new knowledge to use, which is the best part about this book, since just learning stitches without seeing a finished product can make you give up on this hobby quite fast.

The instructions are easy to follow, with helpful diagrams and real life pictures and this book includes everything from what materials you need to how to finish a piece. It also shows the patterns included in the book (that you can trace easily from the end of the book) used on different objects (shirts, tote bags etc)

I did embroider a bit before, but this book was a fun challenge that I can't wait to finish and see all the beautiful projects together

This book is so fun! I've been embroidering for years after a long hiatus since childhood, and I found that these patterns are both easy and great for practicing new and old stiches! It's a great way to improve my craft, and I felt like the graphics and patterns were all clearly displayed in a way that made sense. I definitely recommend this as a gift to an embroiderer of any skill! A huge thank you to Quarto for the eArc in exchange for my thoughts!

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry and Netgalley for this copy in exchange for my review.

I recently got into wanting to learn embroidery for a Ren Faire outfit and saw this and decided to give it a go. There is a wide range of designs you'll be learning that vary in technique and simplicity, but nothing ever gets too complicated, which as a beginner I really appreciated. The first section gives you a run down of the equipment needed and gives tips and tricks to remember in the future when you start branching out, using different number of strands, transferring patterns and a lot more. My favorite thing was the stitch glossary at the beginning that gives you a picture, the name, and the page that it can be found on in the book. I loved this because when I've following a video or something it doesn't always explain the type of stitch needed or how to do it. This way I have something to reference for future project.

The projects themselves again are extremely easy and straightforward. Anderson breaks them down to show you how many threads are used, what type of stitch, and had a key to show you what goes where on the pattern. I also liked that the step by step was kept short and simple.

Overall a really great book for someone looking to start up this hobby.

I'm not one to do challenges but I did find this book inspired me to want to get back into embroidery.

I was given crewel kits as a child and never forgot the fascination of making pictures from different stitches. This book provides a nice variety of stitches to use for just that as well as some great designs. The dragonfly really sold me as it's a favourite motif for me.

Easy enough for a beginner and useful enough for the more experienced. This is a marvellous volume on the craft of decorative embroidery.

30 Day Challenge: Embroidery is a perfect book for people who want to learn embroidery--or remember what their moms and grandmothers taught them as children. It is ideal for teaching beginner embroidery students, such as 4-H sewing clubs. The patterns are simple--and beautiful and allow learners to practice basic stitches. This is an excellent book.

This book is such a great resource for people looking to learn how to embroider! I have embroidered a few times using kits and this book takes it a step further! The designs are simple but cute. I especially liked the Lovely Lemons and Koi Pond designs.
The colors throughout the book make it visually appealing, especially for younger artsy individuals. I love the concept of teaching simple stitches in fun, cute designs that people will actually want to make.
I also appreciated that the designs were included in the book for tracing and transferring to fabric.
Overall, an excellent crafting book for beginners or pros looking for new designs.

I've long admired embroidery, and despite being a painter I haven't ever felt totally confident in taking on embroidery projects myself. The simple projects presented in this book give people like me an approachable way to give it a try! The projects are really cute & modern, and not intimidating at all. The beginning sections of the book break down what supplies are needed, how to separate & manage threads, transfer designs, and set up your hoops.
The stitch glossary is so helpful! I love how it has each type outlined & illustrated. Each day's project gives a fantastic breakdown of the stitch used for the project, supplies needed, and special tips to help complete the project.

Loved this book, the quick and easy projects were fun to do. I would definitely gift this books to friends and family who like to stitch. The projects are suitable for all ages, I even taught my 7 year old niece to embroider. A really good book, well worth buying.

As someone who just recently started embroidery and is still learning all the proper stitches, this is perfect for a beginner.
I think the 30-Day Challenge is a great system for learning as well and provides a unique setup for the book. I'm really excited to recommend this to my other crafty friends.

This book is a terrific introduction to embroidery. As activities like slow stitching and visual mending become more popular, a text like this is a terrific addition to a classroom or makerspace library.

What makes this book particularly effective is that each stitch is introduced with an individual design. All the design templates are provided in the book. This allows for multiple points of entry for learners. As a stitcher becomes more confident, they can choose to combine stitches and create their own designs. An embroiderer who is already familiar with the basics may find that their entry point is the middle of the book, or may simply choose a design that appeals to them. For people who want to use embroidery as a meditative task, the idea of tackling a stitch a day, and creating small samplers may be exactly the entry point they need. The clear instructions for how to finish a piece are also very helpful.

The book is well-illustrated, and can easily be supported with a quick Google search, if learners want a video of a particular stitch.

I taught myself how to sew and embroider through trial and error. My crafts are good, some are even great, but I definitely needed some help.
Thank Jessica Anderson for the Embroidery 101. I've been stitching for more than 10 years and it took me until now to learn that I should be using different embroidery needles and that there's a better way to finish off my project than using a hot glue gun. I'm sure I could have learned all of these things had I simply looked it up, but honestly, I didn't really think about it until I found this book.

I'm sure there will be deferring opinions on this, but I found the worded description for each stitch easier to follow than the pictures. For the most part, the diagrams were not clear to me.
I would recommend this book to all beginners and anyone who already enjoys embroidery and is looking for some tips (like me).

Thank you so much for letting me read and review!

30 Day Challenge: Embroidery is a simple and beautiful guide to getting started with embroidery. The patterns are simple but pretty, and it makes embroidery seem easy and accessible for a newcomer. I like how it’s designed to be just a simple pattern each day. There are also traceable designs in the book to get started on your own embroidering.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarry Books for an advanced copy of this book!

As someone who is new to embroidery myself, I love the idea behind this book. Each day in this 30 day challenge teaches you a new stitch and gives you a project to put your new skills to work. It includes all the essential basics for getting started, like how to correctly secure your fabric in the embroidery hoop, starting and stopping stitches, transferring images, et cetera. And all the projects are both approachable as a beginner, but also something you’ll be proud to have made and will want to show off to friends and family, or even give as gifts. The instructions are simple and are accompanied by diagrams, which I found easy to interpret. It even includes bonus projects and traceable templates for the projects in the back. Overall, I think this is an excellent resource for beginners.

I loved this idea of a 30 day challenge to learn 30 basic embroidery stitches! The designs are cute, small but not too small that you wouldn't get good practice with each new stich. The images showing the techniques are great, easy to understand. I will most likely get a copy of this book so I can officially learn all the types of stitches.

I love the layout of this book! As a beginner, I appreciate the way a new stitch is introduced each day and used in a very simple project. And the stitches are used in future projects to keep practicing. The intructions, illustrations and photos are very clear. I am looking forward to working through the whole book!

This book makes me want to try embroidery! I always wanted to start a new hobby and I am considering going into embroidery just looking through this book. The author is very detailed in how to create each stitch and shows a different project for each stitch.

Wow! I've read/browsed through a great number of embroidery books over the years, and Anderson's takes the cake! She really does break it down in a way that beginners can understand and even just get started with figuring out what to buy. As the projects progress, you incorporate additional stitches from previous projects to reinforce what you've already learned. Brava!
