Description
Greta, a young Swedish actress, leaves her home country and twin flame girlfriend, Clara, to become a movie star known as Margo Alba. The transformation she undergoes makes her a world-famous celebrity, but her new life lacks authenticity.
Clara starts a family with Richard, who is a developer for a new generation AI. His project is to create an AI copy of the actress Margo Alba, a spitting image of the movie star, which he names Margo 2.0.
Greta, on the other hand, connects with her higher self, which materializes as Lil, Greta’s oversoul, visible only to Greta and Clara.
As the characters are about to explore each other’s worlds, their definitions of what’s real become blurry. The sovereignty of human consciousness is challenged on both linear and spiritual planes, and Greta and Clara are faced with difficult decisions to make.
As Greta’s longing for home grows stronger, Clara is torn by her desires to maintain a functional family, figure out her relationship with Lil, cope with Margo 2.0, and reunite with Greta.

A thought-provoking and intricately woven tale that explores the complexities of identity, consciousness, and human connection. The novel follows the journey of Greta, a Swedish actress who transforms into the world-renowned celebrity Margo Alba, and her twin flame girlfriend Clara. As Clara starts a family with Richard, a developer working on a cutting-edge AI project, the lines between reality and illusion blur.
The author’s storytelling is both compelling and contemplative, inviting readers to ponder deep philosophical questions about the nature of consciousness and the impact of artificial intelligence on our lives. The characters' emotional struggles and the challenges they face as they navigate their evolving relationships make this a gripping read.
Buckle up because this book is like a rollercoaster of identity, consciousness, and some seriously tangled love stories! Meet Greta, who goes from Swedish sweetheart to Hollywood sensation Margo Alba, and Clara, her twin flame who's juggling family, love, and a seriously futuristic AI project. But here's the kicker – there's an invisible friend in the mix, Lil, who's Greta's oversoul. Yep, things get trippy! Why should you read it? Because it's like peeking into a parallel universe where reality is as bendy as a pretzel, and you'll be questioning everything you know about love, identity, and the power of the mind. So, dive in, and let the mind-bending adventure begin!
Thank you NetGalley and Irina Vysotskaya for allowing me to read a copy of Programs in exchange for an honest review.
This script of a play is very brief and easy to read in one sitting. I wish the Kindle version was corrected to match the version found in the NetGalley app. There were numerous spacing issues throughout the whole thing when read on a Kindle. Even so, the brilliance in the writing still persevered.
The subject matter deals with AI and the ethereal realm and takes you on this journey you wish did not end. Because of the script format, it encourages you to use your imagination in setting the scenes versus relying on the descriptions found in a novel format.
I kept visualizing how amazing this subject matter would be as an episode of Black Mirror. A small part of me also thought it could be made as a quirky Wes Anderson style movie. Either way, it is a well done script.
