Description

'A sizzling enemies-to-lovers read you'll definitely fall for' Mandy Baggot

No man can be as good as the one in your imagination...

Librarian Liv Jones has always dreamed of writing a romance novel. But she’s stuck when it comes to creating a romantic hero – sadly – lacking anyone in real life to base him on.

When her brother suggests his best friend stay in their shared flat for a few weeks, she can’t believe her bad luck. Aiden Rivers is irritating and pushes all her buttons. Worst of all, he’s gorgeous, has a sexy accent and reminds her of her all-time favourite character Mr Darcy.

Liv finds herself unexpectedly inspired and the leading man in her novel begins to bear an uncanny resemblance to Aiden. He can never find out though: she’d never live it down. Because Aiden can only ever be her love interest in the pages of her book – and definitely not in real life… right?!

A sexy enemies-to-lovers rom com, perfect for those who spend far too much time thinking about Mr Darcy coming out of the lake! Perfect for fans of Emily Henry.

This book was a cute and fun read! I enjoyed each of the characters as well as the love story that unfolded. It was easy to relate to Liv as a character and root for her and Aiden's happy ending. The tension that was built between the two was palpable, and they had me giggling and kicking my feet throughout the novel! If you enjoy enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and Mr. Darcy I would highly recommend giving this book a read.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in one day, I just couldn't put it down. Such a sweet story and I love the message of chasing your dreams that runs for several characters throughout the story!

I think this may be more of a 4.5, but I'm rounding up since there's no 1/2 stars. I can't pinpoint what I would need for that 1/2 star though. This was an excellent book. A classic enemies/frenemies to lovers with excellent film and book references. Aiden and Olivia are always bickering and going back and forth, but there's clearly chemistry and they can't help but to smile while they do it. Sometimes their barbs hit a bit deep and they both clearly realize it and feel badly about it. You don't always get that in this trope. Dan and Theo is a great side story and Stevie is a great friend and shoulder to lean on.
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This author’s books have the ability to simultaneously make you unable to stop reading while wishing you could bury the book somewhere deep underground where it can't be found. Compelling and didn’t want it to end!

MUST READ! I absolutely loved this book. It contained my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers, childhood friends, and bothers best friend. Olivia was a smart woman who knew exactly what she wanted, I can relate to her being scared of rejection and the unknown. I enjoyed reading about her journey in writing her first book. This book made me feel hopeful for people who come into my life, you never know where it could end up. I can’t wait to tell all my book friends about this because it was amazing!!

This was a great read and I enjoyed reading the development between the characters. It was one I didn’t want to put down and would love to read a sequel!

This book had me hooked from the beginning!

Liv and Aiden are the definition of miscommunication. They had a love-hate relationship from the time they first met to ten years later when Aiden is moving in with Liv and her brother, Dan (who's also his best friend). During this book they navigate working together, living together, and their feelings for one another.

I found the characters really relatable with how they tried to hide their feelings behind anger and indifference when they were actually just embarrassed and didn't want the other one to know. This book also does an excellent job of showing how everything is not always how it seems and there is another side to every story.

Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you to Boldwood Books, Victoria Walters, and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book.

I loved this book! It's got enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and a grovel scene (FROM THE WOMAN).

I could not put this book down, I started and finished it in one day. I skirted all other responsibilities, Aiden Rivers had me in a chokehold!

Liv is a part-time librarian who is trying to write a romance novel, the only problem is she has never been in love, nor does she have a man in her life to base the love interest on. That all changes when her brother's best friend moves into their apartment.

Aiden Rivers is a film professor that gets a new job. at the university where Liv works, while he gets settled he needs to stay with Liv and her brother. During their forced proximity they are forced to acknowledge that things between them are different and that things may just work out.

If you’re looking for a fun, easy to read romance, this one’s for you! I loved the way the characters transitioned from “enemies” to lovers and the multiple nods to Pride and Prejudice. The book included a diverse cast of character which was much appreciated! I would love a sequel to explore what happens next for these characters!

An absolutely gorgeous romance novel with brilliantly written relationships featuring a whole cast of fabulously endearing characters that you really root for. With a loveable heroine you'd want as your best friend and a swoon-worthy hero to die for, this book had the lot!

This was my first Victoria Walters novel, yet it will not be my last. Thoroughly enjoyed the writing in The Love Interest and couldn’t wait for the will they/won’t they scenes to be resolved. I was kept guessing right to the end and had a great big smile on my face as I read the epilogue. A super romance story which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Now where can I find me an Aiden?

I really loved this! It had me hooked from the very beginning. I absolutely loved Aiden and Olivia and I loved the banter between them! It had me smiling while I was reading it which is always a winner! I found Liv to be a really relatable character. This was such an easy book to read and I would highly recommend you pick it up.

You know that feeling when you're on a rollercoaster and it starts going down, and your stomach clenches? Or, even better, you talk to the person you fancy, and they start smiling or even looking at you and you get those annoying butterflies? Well, that's basically what I felt for most part of the book. Every banter, every conversation, actually everything these two - Aiden and Liv - did made my stomach clench with butterflies. Every. Single. Time.

Aiden is Liv's brother's best friend and ever since something happened ten years before, they became enemies. Liv only had to tolerate Aiden twice a year - at Christmas and for her brother's birthday. But then Aiden gets a job in London and Dan, Liv's brother, invites him to stay with them while he settles on a house.

You can imagine how two people who supposedly hate each other, might react while they are forced to live together. Especially Liv, who probably hates Aiden more than he hates her.

What I have loved of this book is that Liv is so relatable. I was basically her. Love Pride and Prejudiced, swooned over Colin Firth in the BBC rendition of Pride and Prejudice - who didn't though - fantasised on their current crush as Mr Darcy in the lake scene. We have all been there. She's working in a library - dream job, anyone? And she's always dreaming of finding that perfect guy, since Mr Darcy set the bar too high for her - and all of us really.

Aiden at first is portrayed as someone who had to tolerate his best friend's sister whenever they hang out together. Or even obnoxiously crashing into Liv's date with a colleague, just to annoy her. Of course this is what we get, reading Liv's POV. But you can see immediately through facade Aiden pulled up to avoid showing what he really felt.

I also didn't mind the miscommunication trope in this book. I'm not usually a fan, but the way Victoria handled it was fun and interesting.

If you've stuck with me so far, you won't regret picking this book up, when it comes out on February 12th. It's got banter, a bit of spice - which is always welcomed - and the best tropes out there: enemies to lovers and brother's best friend!
