Stitched Up is a heartwarming novel about a girl called Cassie who loves vintage fashion but when she starts high school and becomes friends with a label loving Azra, she feels under pressure to change her interests to fit in. Soon she finds herself living a double life - a new member of a local knitting group where she can embrace her passion and be herself and keeping up appearances in school. Despite this being set in high school, it is absolutely suitable and aimed towards a younger reader.
My daughter ( aged 9)really enjoyed this book. She loved the main character Cassie although did say she found some of the characters easily confused at first as so many were introduced at the beginning and it took a couple of chapters for her to get used to who was who. She really loved the knitting element and reading the descriptions of the patterns and stitches and now its something she wants to try as a result of reading this book. She loved the messaging in this book about and being true to yourself and standing up for yourself and what is important to you.
She wholeheartedly recommends this one, five stars from her.
5 star.

I went into this book blindly other than knowing that it was about knitting. I would highly recommend that if you are interested in this, go into it knowing little more than what the synopsis tells you.
There were many things that I loved about this book, some of my favourites were the references made such as Lord of the Rings and many references to Taylor Swift. I loved being able to learn more about fashion history through Cassie as a narrator and also how the author describes the different fashion pieces. I love the friendships that Cassie formed through The KnitWits and how they felt like one big family rather than just a community group.
There were a few parts of this book that I didn’t like, one of these that was clear to me by the end of the first chapter was how much I disliked Azra, but I do think that it is a part of her character and I did hope that she would grow by the end of the novel.
I was sent this e-Arc on Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
