I absolutely loved this cookbook. What a relief to find a cookbook filled with actual recipes and not the chef’s life story. Right away I was able to turn to useful, easy to follow, delicious recipes. I found recipes that were geared towards the grilled that I’m sure I can duplicate indoors as well. I follow this chef on social media and was excited to see he had a cookbook. I am looking forward to many more cookbooks by Chef Aaron Brown. I highly recommend this book!
Thank you Quarto Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to view this book in exchange for my honest review.
Great resource for newbie smokers like my husband! I’m excited to try some of the delicious looking recipes and techniques in this book! Thanks!!
Grill lovers rejoice! Brown’s expertise is put to paper so we amateur grillers can make something that is as great as what he creates (hopefully). I watch this guy, so I couldn’t wait to go through his cookbook. Let me tell you: I don’t often see one that makes say, “I want to make that one. And that one. And that one. And that one. And that one, too. Also, that one.”
Being the aforementioned amateur griller, the recipes seem “doable”. I don’t know if the book would appeal to pros looking for insider tips. Maybe those are top secret, but maybe what I am seeing in the cookbook as basic recipe is really Brown passing along his words to the wise.
This is like that Porterhouse brought to your table that is perfectly cooked, juices dripping, tender, melting, no steak sauce needed kind of a cookbook. I can’t wait for the weather to cooperate so I can break out my grill.
Can’t wait to try some of these recipes. I love meat and there’s definitely a lot to choose from in this book. They’re a decent selection of fish recipes that I fancy trying too. Good photos to accompany the recipes. Mouthwatering.
Excellent collection of grilling and smoking recipes for the home cook. I particularly liked that the meat chapters were divided into grilling and smoking recipes.
Love summer, love the outdoors and love the BBQ. We live outdoors in summer in Australia and so I always love to find new ways to use the BBQ to make yummy meals for all the family and friends. This has some great recipes that anyone can make and enjoy. Easy to follow, easy to get ingredients and the photos did make me very hungry.
This is a great recipe book for any BBQ lover and now I can't wait to get stuck in and work my way through try all the recipes. They are so enticing so I am going to getting the BBQ cracking and make us a great outdoor dinner tonight.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Smokin' and Grillin' with Aaron Brown is an unctuous collection of accessible secret recipes and ideas by the man himself, AB. He reminds us there is more to food than what we eat; it is about camaraderie, making memories and sharing time together. So true! Food is a common thread which brings people together.
I am glad Brown embarked on this recipe project, such a treat. Not only are the seventy five grilling and twenty five smoking recipes hearty fare which is easy to prepare but the accompanying photography is luscious and inspiring.
Many of us grill regularly but smoking food can feel daunting or out of reach. However, his approach is fuss-free and doesn't require special equipment. His recipes include traditional as well as new, all of which inspire further creativity. Those recipes which stand out most for me Grilled Stuffed Chicken Breast, Grilled Chicken & Parmesan Soup, Smoked Brined Chicken Breasts, Burgers With A Whiskey & Cheese Filling, Grilled Meatball Soup, Slow-Smoked Meatloaf, Sweet & Hot Barbecue Grilled Shrimp, Bourbon Bacon Grilled Baked Beans and Lemon Coconut Bars (yes, you read that right!). The most difficult thing is to choose which will be the first to cook!
My sincere thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Harvard Common Press and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this sumptuous book.
Smokin' and Grillin' with Aaron Brown is a great companion for our outdoor cooking adventures. We love cooking on the Braai (BBQ) and were very interested in understanding more about smoking especially as we now have a Ninja smoker oven. Great amount of varied recipes that you really want to try and good illustrations. This has now given us lots of ideas and can't wait for a bit better weather to start putting all these recipes and ideas into practice.

I follow AB on YouTube. This book was beautifully done. The pictures are so crisp and clear. The instructions are easy to follow and the dishes look mouthwatering. I especially liked that there were marinades included. I would definitely recommend this cookbook.
My husband's favourite way to cook is grilling. Smokin' and Grillin' with Aaron Brown is the perfect cookbook for him, with lots of recipes I know we will be grilling up on sunny days.
Brown's expertise really shines in this book, offering a variety of traditional grilling recipes along with some unique surprises like delicious-looking sweet tea-marinated grilled chicken and beef burgers stuffed with whiskey and cheese. Each recipe looks amazing, and I love the easy-to-follow layout of each page. The inclusion of lamb dishes (something I don't usually see in grilling books) was a welcome addition and I can't wait to try more grilled lamb.
With a wide range of mouthwatering recipes and clear instructions, this cookbook is a great resource for anyone wanting to up their grilling game. Get ready to impress your guests and treat your taste buds to some amazing dishes from "Smokin' and Grillin' with Aaron Brown.
As a mom I'm always looking for that perfect children’s book. You know the ones that become a family treasure, that we read a million times a day and it’s still not enough. Well I have discovered our newest favorite. I received this as an ebook ARC thanks to NetGalley. We are in love and this one will be bought for our house and grandparents because everyone loves it. What a creative and fun little adventure. This story is about a knight who is in search of a dragon to battle. When others say there are no such things as dragons he is going to prove them wrong because he has a map and it says “Here Be Dragons”! With his trusty steed he heads off paying close attention to following his map. With his attention sidetracked he misses all the obvious signs to turn back and look out for the dragon. You will love this laugh-out-loud story. We laughed ourselves silly. How can you not when he is searching for the dragon in the burrow, which is the dragon’s nose and even in the dark cave, the Dragons mouth!! Our silly knight takes us on a great adventure. Let your little ones help you look for the dragon and help the knight on his way. Your family will love this book. Wonderful attention grabbing writing by Susannah Lloyd and colorful and exciting fun illustrations by Paddy Donnelly create the perfect combination for this adventure. Enjoy.
My husband and I are a huge AB Youtube channel so as soon as I noticed this for review I had to grab it.
If you love grilling and smoking foods this easy-to-follow grilling book is for you. Aaron gives you several chapters on different proteins, cheese & veggie sides, desserts, and sweet treats. I love the chapter on marinades for the grill and smoker because I always struggle to come up with different styles of marinades for the different proteins.
You have easy numbered steps on how to prepare each recipe. not all have images but quite a few have them.
I recommend this book to anyone who is ready to pull out their grill or smoker and get the summer started.
Anyone who likes to grill or use their smoker will love Aaron Brown’s cookbook, Smokin' and Grillin' with Aaron Brown: More Than 100 Spectacular Recipes for Cooking Outdoors. This excellent cookbook is full of great recipes and tips to make fabulous smoked and grilled dishes. Each of the chapters in this cookbook is divided into grilled dishes and smoked dishes. The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that are easy to understand and follow. Almost everyone loves food cooked outdoors, and Aaron Brown presents mouthwatering dishes that are not only appealing to everyone – even the pickiest of eaters – but also attractive to serve.
Brown includes recipes that most of us grill and smoke such as ribs, marinated chicken, hamburgers, pork chops, and even seafood that have his own twist and also beer can chicken He also includes several recipes for things like stuffed chicken breasts and stuffed hamburgers. There are also recipes for baked beans in the smoker as well as macaroni and cheese and chicken and sausage gumbo. There are also some basic sauces and marinades, most with minimal ingredients, most of which are already in well stocked kitchens. Many of the dishes include beautiful, professional photographs, which is a real plus.
All told, this cookbook gives readers the best of both worlds: basic grilling and smoking with several unusual and innovative things you can cook or smoke. It has wonderful ideas and every time I look at this book my queue of “must cook soon” becomes longer.
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.
I have been following Aaron Brown on Facebook for awhile now and love his recipes. So when I found this book on Netgalley I snapped it up. This book is loaded with great recipes you won't be disappointed. So happy that I found it.
Let me tell you what! Baby this man can cook and write a dang good cookbook!
This isn’t your typical grilling & smoking cookbook. The recipes are so elevated yet easy at the same time.
Each section is a different meat and then broken down into grill recipes and smoker recipes.
I cannot wait for it to warm up outside to work my way through this whole book!
I will start by saying that I am a fan of AB and I love his YouTube channel, so I was super excited to read his cookbook. This book is so AB. The recipes are flavorful while still being easy to make. There are many recipes in every chapter that I can't wait to try. I love the Bang Bang Chicken Skewers and the BBQ Chicken Skewers. I can't wait to try Herbed Turkey Legs and the Carne Asada. This book even has desserts! There were way too many recipes I want to try for me to try all of them before doing this review, but I will say that I like the way the chapters are structured and organized. The pictures are beautiful and help me to understand the finished product. My one issue is that I wish there were more smoker recipes and in particular smoked pork recipes. Other than that, I love the book and I look forward to working my way through many of the recipes.
This book along with the recipes is for grilling but you can make them indoors especially if you have ever watched any of his videos. I have so that is how I knew who he was when I saw this cookbook here are just some of his recipes and they are done in his easygoing style but with the flare that he has that makes them different yet easy to follow and so, so good. Yes, I have made just a few of them the chicken skewers and the southern mashed potatoes, but there are others that I will be trying. Overall an excellent book and one worth having.
