This is a really cute kids cookbook with fun photos and bright colors. I liked that in each section, the recipes were ordered from easiest to most complex!
This kids cookbook is great! It breaks everything down for them to understand, do on their own, when to seek adult help and even to encourage them to pickup after! This book is full of pictures and fun recipes for kids to follow sorting them out by experience levels by spoons. The author really acknowledged kids wanting independence to explore and be little chiefs and hosts. Parents will enjoy this one too. Only thing that should be strongly noted is age range this is targeting as recipes call for knife use. Highly recommend this fun engaging cookbook!
This is a great book to introduce children to cooking. I enjoyed the introduction to safety and supplies, etc. the recipes are easy to follow and I liked the inclusion of lots of photos. The bright colors are engaging. My son is really excited to start cooking!
How wonderful that Storey Publishing has released a tenth anniversary edition of Cooking Class! I was not familiar with the book at all, but how I love it!
Deanna F. Cook has penned the quintessential cookbook for kids. She’s divided recipes into categories based on how much stovetop and knifework is involved (including a so-called “one-spoon” category that forgoes both), and she emphasizes safety and hygiene at every turn. How wish I’d had a book like this for my children!
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Storey Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
This is a perfect cookbook for all beginning cooks, or for people like me who are insecure cooks. It starts with a list of what you'll need, followed by a lof of tips and useful recipes for simple dishes. I used to work in a life skills class, and this would have been a great asset to have then. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
This is a bright, accessible cookbook for kids of all ages. Younger kids will enjoy the fun recipes with an adult. Things like making food into animal shapes would appeal to my 4yo. Older kids can learn a lot from the intro and extra instructions, and the recipes are simple enough for them to make on their own.
Kids cookbooks do great at my rural library, and I'm sure this will be a hit too.
Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the ARC! I will purchase for my library.
I really love this book on cooking with kids. There are creative and colorful ideas to keep things interesting in a child's diet. The focus on whole and nutritious foods is much appreciated in this culture of over-processed convenience foods.
I really like this cookbook. It is easy to read and follow. If I were a kid, I'd love to get on the fun after reading this. But even as an adult, I got some recipes that are easy and fit into a busy life.
I love all the photos (especially in the instructions). This is a great first-start cookbook.
This book really is fantastic, I really wish there was a cookbook like this when I was younger. It would make a fantastic addition to any budding chefs collection or for a child who is just starting to show an interest in the kitchen.
The recipes are clear & easy to follow, I love that the pages are brightly coloured and appealing for children and that hygiene is reminded. The lessons at the beginning of the book is what makes this cookbook stand out to me, everything that you need to know relating to the kitchen is explained in great detail.

Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the opportunity to review this book.
This is a great cookbook for kids! I like how the chapters are organized by meal. It is very helpful the way they explain the basic "rules" of cooking, vocabulary, safety tips, and techniques. The photos are really enjoyable to look at. The step-by-step pictures and instructions are clear and easy to follow.
There is a nice balance of healthy food and treats, with a lot of emphasis on colorful, healthy foods that look and taste good. I like how some international dishes are included, and the children in the photos are of all different races and ethnicities. The food pictured looks fun and appealing, and there are some good ideas on entertaining.
I highly recommend this as a first cookbook for kids aged approximately 8-12. This is one of the best children's cookbooks I've ever seen!
What a wonderful beginner kitchen book. I know a few adults who could use this easy to follow cooking lesson book. How to pick foods, how to setup a kitchen, how to prepare basic meals - it's a great intro to everyday style cooking.
This is a great cookbook for budding cooks! Compared with other cookbooks geared toward kids, I appreciated many things about this one. First, recipes were not simply "kid favorites" - there were a variety of different cuisines represented. The photos are great, and instructions are clear. I especially loved the tips - while I am a quite experienced cook, I learned great tips for things like omelettes. Plus, I love the focus on locally sourced and nutritious foods. Finally, the many variations suggested in many recipes helps kids learn to be flexible and experiment with their cooking - either based on their personal taste or based on what they have available!
I accessed an electronic copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This cookbook is incredible! It has incredible pictures that are really engaging and display great ideas. This is super differentiated from making biscuits to cute ways to display food to making something simple like applesauce. This is a must have for kids who love cooking and would make an incredible gift to a kid who likes cooking along with some basic kitchen tools and an apron. I think every public library should have a copy and it would be great for elementary through middle through high school libraries. I highly recommend!
This was really cute. I would definitely buy this for my nieces and nephews who enjoy making little treats in the kitchen. The instructions were really simple and the pictures were so cute.
I can’t wait for this to come out!
As a new homeschool mom, a book like this is amazing!
A+ Graphics
A+ Instructions
A+ Details
A+ Kid Friendly EVERYTHING (graphics, colors, meals!)
Super impressed and would love a copy! 🤩
I love this book, and think it is a great first cook book for any kid who wants to learn to cook or is showing interest in the kitchen. From an introduction to kitchen terms and tools to simple recipes easy enough for kids to attempt to fun stickers and cards in the back, this book has everything you could ever want in a kids introductory cook book.
I must admit I've been a fan of the original edition of this book, touting 57 recipes. This new and updated 10th Anniversary edition of cooking class now has 72 recipes.
Deanna F. Cook has done it again! This book is accessible and engaging, and perfect for your mini-chef to cook with you. The age range is 6 to 12 years old, and I'd agree with that. Snack Attack remains my favourite section and is the most fun. Fruit Kebabs for the win!
Thank you, Storey Publishing, for providing me with an advanced reader's copy.
Review to come September 2024 on blog/other places.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
Give Mehsi a fun cooking book and she is all in for it! Though it does depend on the cooking/baking book. If it is just all text and not much fun I may not be that interested, but if it is something like this? Playful? Fun? With photographs? Tips? And more? Yes.
The book is split up in 7 chapters, the first being all about how to cook/how to prep and all the other basics. Not one I need as I have been cooking/baking for a while now, haha. Still I am always happy that books add it and that this one went full on for it. Some books just delve in a bit, but this one goes through all the basics. Plus, throughout the book you will also get some tips on how to do x or y, so if you miss something in this chapter, no worries it will probably come back in other chapters.
And from then on it is Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks, a special chapter on veggies, Dinner, and of course most important of all, dessert! YUM! Definitely the last chapter was the one I was looking forward to the most, haha. I just love a good sweet treat. But I have to say that the rest of the recipes were also fun and I just need to try several of them. Like I want to give those Breakfast Sundaes a try, they look like a treat! Plus, I want to try those French Toasts on a stick! Oh, and Lettuce Roll-ups, and Quiche Cupcakes, and and, well I guess you get the idea. This girl was all in for this book. So much delicious yums to try out. And I definitely love that each chapter is a different part of the day and that you can just scroll to the one you want to go for.
The recipes are split in three difficulty ratings, 1 spoon, 2 spoons, and 3 spoons. I have to say I had expected a bit more of that. I know that this is a book for kids, but most of the recipes are super simple. A lot of fun, but very simple. I have seen some kids books like this that go pretty difficult and I kinda missed that in this one.
The instructions to each recipe is very clear by way of text + photographs. There are also extra bits with tips for creative cooks (to change things up a bit and try new combos), plus also fun events you can try to do with recipes~ I really liked those extra bits!
And just like every cooking/baking book in existence, I will be avoiding the recipes with nuts/peanuts if it is the key-element, otherwise I will see if I can play around a bit with the recipe.
I like the extras at the end, the labels for the various things you can make + the recipe cards + games + more. I was already considering buying this book because of the fun recipes, but this really is an extra I cannot resist!
All in all, a really fun book with not too hard very yummy recipes~ I would recommend it!
Beautiful photos of recipes! Made you want to try a recipe. Easy and clear directions! My students love to checkout cookbooks and this is one that will be bought for our library!
A great guide on getting children started in the kitchen and learning how to cook for themselves and others. I cant wait to try out some of the recipes with my daughter. The steps are clearly set out and the pictures are beautiful
I received an ARC of this cookbook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fantastic children's cookbook. There are a lot of detailed pictures to help kids learn to cook. And the recipes all look wonderful!
This cookbook is a fabulous tool for teaching kids to cook and be comfortable in the kitchen. There are tons of photos that makes it easier for kids to follow the recipe and good kitchen vocabulary. There are recipe ratings for difficulty (1, 2 and 3 spoons) so kids can distinguish better if they can do a recipe on their own, or if they will need more adult assistance.
I tried a handful of the recipes with my kids. They were easy and yummy. Such a fun book.
Bonus: in the back of the book there are cute games, recipe cards, etc for kids to cut out.
Thank you NetGalley and Storey Publishing for this eCopy to review
Cooking Class is an easy to follow recipe book for children. I love the cooking rules and lessons at the start, its a great introduction to keep everyone safe and have fun in the kitchen. The recipes are very colourful and eye-catching and easy to follow. The difficulty rating was great as they could decide for themselves which recipes they could try themselves and which they might need help with.
Great first cookbook full of delicious recipes with easy to get ingredients
This cookbook is perfect for young children to learn the ropes in the kitchen and feel confident at the same time. The detail and pictures included in each recipe make it easy to follow and reference. I love that there are measuring spoons with each recipe so you know know the difficulty level before-hand. The book also includes hand washing, table setting, and basic kitchen hygiene information. All in all, this will be a perfect tool to include in our homeschool curriculum.
This is a great cookbook for kids of just about any age. I love that the step-by-step instructions also include photos so that readers know what it should look like as they move along through the recipes. The intro sections about basic safety rules and kitchen vocabulary are perfect for young chefs and bakers who may not be familiar with a lot of the terms used in recipes. And of course the recipes are all fantastic! There is such a great variety of foods to choose from that even pickier eaters can find multiple things to try. I received this as an e-book but I'll definitely be on the look out for a print version to keep in the kitchen!
F a n t a s t i c.
This is a wonderful book with easy-to-follow and handy cooking and food preparation tips, instructions and a wide range of fun recipes of children’s favourites and healthy options.
The tools and ingredients in the recipes are accessible, and the look of the book is highly engaging.
My child and I love this book and I will look into the writer’s and publisher’s similar books.
This has got to be one of the best kid's cookbooks I have ever read. I love looking through them from time to time, and this one is premium.
I love the breakdowns on how easy to hard, or slight age groups, and how you can help your child, from whatever age learn to cook.
The food is definitely recipes that children would eat and would love to eat. I love that some of the recipes are a little more grown up and challenging, like fried rice and the soup section. There is a great range of stove top and baking recipes to help kids learn safety in the kitchen, as well as techniques in the kitchen. Most of these are recipes that I would make for any meal. The breakdown of different chapters was more than I thought it would be, but great for kids who have a hard time deciding what they would want to eat.
Also, in all of the pictures, there are only kids. No adults, not even their hands, which would be so awesome from a kid's point of view to see only other kids in their book. I love that perspective.
I am sad I only have this as an ebook, and will probably have to buy it for the stickers and tags at the end. There are so many additions to add to the food that is made and I love the interactive part of that.
Overall, it is fantastic and I highly recommend it!
Cooking Class is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to inspire a love of cooking in children and teens. Its thoughtful organization, engaging content, and educational value make it a must-have in the library of any young aspiring chef. Whether as a tool for culinary literacy programs like ours or for fun family cooking sessions at home, this book promises to be a valuable addition that encourages the next generation to embrace cooking with open arms and curious minds.
My kids and I have been cooking - and baking - and snacking our way through this book. Doing this with a 10 and 5 year old is not always easy, however this cookbook includes easy to follow instructions, bright photos, and kid friendly / adult approved recipes. We have several new favorites and a few yet to try, however highly recommend. My 5 year old LOVEs the blueberry muffins and my 10 year old requests to make Chicken Curry and popcorn chicken frequently!
The "Cooking Class" section is also amazing. It really helped break down all the steps that can be easy to forget when cookie with kids!
We really loved this book. Breakfast sundaes have become the new weekend breakfast of choice for me 3 and 5 year old and the best part is they make them completely by themselves. Really easy to follow and simple recipes that are doable even by my 5 year old and some of them the 3 year old can do. Great that although they’re suitable for kids to make they are suitable for the whole family to eat! And there no need to buy any extra equipment, its all stuff that we have in the house so all we need to do is the food shop.
I enjoyed reading the book and even tried a few of the recipes. I recommend it to all those who love cooking and trying out new recipes!
As far as cookbooks go, this one takes the cake for photography and layout! I love that each page has kids of all ages and gender cooking, many nationalities represented and a great food selection! My kids looked through this one with me and it was very inspiring for them to see young kids experimenting in the kitchen like they do. Love this book, can’t wait for it to come out!
This book is really well done! I’m even considering purchasing the hardback to use with my kids in the kitchen. The material is well organized and kid friendly. Highly recommend!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for the opportunity to read an advanced reader's copy of this cookbook for an honest review.
“Cooking Class” by Deanna F. Cook is the 10th anniversary updated edition featuring 72 recipes that kids can make by themselves (or with some adult supervision if not old enough to use sharp knives and the stove top) with easy, step-by-step photo instructions.
I loved this cookbook so much that I will definitely be purchasing it for my 10-year-old daughter! She’s been showing more interest with helping in the kitchen, but she’s intimidated by anything other than measuring and mixing. When she saw some of the photos in this cookbook of other kids her age making recipes on stove tops, she suddenly felt inspired and asked if she could try it herself! The step-by-step photo instructions made it super easy, and I loved that many of the recipes offered alternate ingredients for kids with food sensitives and allergies.
I would absolutely recommend this book to children and even younger teens who are interested in cooking but need some guided help. It’s also a great family resource to create healthy meals and snacks. The whole family could get involved to plan out meals for the week together and allow the kids to do most of the cooking.
This is an excellent recipe book for children and adults to use. The recipes are very easy to follow and include pictures of each step. They are delicious as well! My nephew and I really enjoyed making several recipes in this book. He enjoyed enjoyed the Sleepover Party pancakes and I loved the Buttery Biscuits!
I want to start by saying that this book is amazing for kids as well as adults. The recipes are simple and delicious. The beginning of the book talks about all the necessary steps to take before you start cooking. I loved the layout and am excited to make this recipes with my 6 year old son. This book would be great for homeschooled kids to learn cooking lessons independently, while getting to cook with an adult. This is a must get.
This book is so incredibly thorough with beautiful photos, helpful tips and kid-friendly instructions. Perfect for the budding foodies in your home. Paired with some kitchen tools and a cute apron, this would make such a fun gift for your favorite young chef!
Received via netgalley as an ARC copy
Fantastic book to help children learn basic food/cooking/nutrition skills and start a long lasting healthy relationship and interest in food.
I will be buying a physical copy for my kids
This cookbook is exactly what I was hoping it would be! Our 2 and 4-year-olds love being in the kitchen with us so I knew this would be a great addition to our cookbook library. I appreciate that the beginning of the book goes over important safety rules. That is such an important foundation for my boys to have when they are helping out in the kitchen especially as they get older and can help more. The illustrations are colorful and eye-catching which is perfect for young eyes. Most of the recipes seem really achievable with kids and we are excited to try them out!
Thank you to Storey Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC!
This fun cookbook geared for young kids offers straightforward and easy to understand recipe instructions and kitchen terminology for those wanting to start helping in the kitchen more or becoming more responsible cooks. Included in this cookbook are basic recipes like how to make a hard boiled egg and bacon as well as more advanced recipes like making your very own cheese square crackers and tortilla chips! There's recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, as well as snacks and each recipe is labeled with a level of difficulty.
This is a big hit with my 6 year old who is currently really interested in helping in the kitchen, and wants to be more independent in cooking. I think it would be a great book on up to pre teen age as well.
My 8-year-old son loved making his very own cinnamon sugar mix using the simple recipe. My daughter was happiest while making yogurt sundaes with the fruit and granola. The colorful pages and easy layout was appealing and got the kids excited about trying the recipes.
My middle daughter wants to be a chef, and she is the one who tested most of these recipes. I love how it gives a variety of range of difficulty, it has different requirements from ones they can do themselves to one an adult is needed. It has visual, and step by step instructions. It is colorful, vibrant to keep your eyes focused especially for ADHD kids. The print is not too small so my dyslexic child did not have trouble reading it because of the print, and spacing between the words. I wanted to add as we have now used several of the recipes. I love all the vocabulary, where food comes from, healthy ways, these recipes are dye free which is a HUGE factor for my family. It has clear step by step with visual to help out with each recipe, how to properly peel an egg, to how to egg separate, and what tools to use, plus their names. The level of difficulty is still very easy and my 4 year old can do several of the recipes herself! Which makes it all the more user friendly!
This book has great photos and step by step tutorials that would be easy to follow for kids. I liked how some of the recipes were part of a theme, like “sleepover” or “movie night” suggestions. My toddler is not quite old enough to assist with most of the recipes shown, but the skill level required would be perfect for an elementary school age child, with some adult help for cutting, oven/stovetop use, etc. I’m looking forward to revisiting this book when my son is a bit older!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book!
This is a must have book for our household. This book is perfect for any family with little ones, young and old, who love cooking. I love this well written cookbook. It is so simple and easy to follow that anyone, including a novice like us, can create some beautiful and fun meals. With over 70 recipes you will find something for every meal and snack in between. Each recipe has step-by-step photo instructions that are written especially for kids. As a mom I love the details and the bright photos of the book. Your family will find many new favorites and want to try every recipe. I loved how the book shows even simple things, like how to cook bacon and understanding kitchen vocabulary. We found some new things to try like Peanut Butter and Honey Pockets and Meatballs with creamy sauce. Perfect to get your family cooking together. We enjoyed discovering this as an ebook ARC but we will be adding the book to our home library. Makes a great gift for families who love to cook. Enjoy.
Deserves 1000 stars
I am so excited for this book. Not only does it include great recipe's that the majority of kids and teens will eat, but it also includes cooking information. Things that include how to properly set the table, clean up after cooking, fold a napkin and so much more. I would add this cookbook to my collection as an adult even. I also see it as a great graduation gift for those going out on their own. The pictures are colorful and inviting, the recipe's include regular ingredients and household staples, and more.
I enjoyed this cookbook. I liked that the recipes were easy for my daughter to follow and were practical. And the few she made everyone enjoyed. I definitely would recommend this cookbook!

73 Fun Recipes Kids Will Love to Make (and Eat!)
by Deanna F. Cook
This is much more than a cookbook for kids. It’s a fun book for the whole family. Its an easy recipe book for anyone who is learning to cook. It is teeming with attractive images and illustrations. The book is sorted by experience levels. One spoon for easy, through to three spoons for more difficult. Some of the difficult recipes might require the help of an adult, or the use of knife skills or a hob. The recipes have fun names, like Rainbow on a stick and Mean Green Guacamole and Popcorn Chicken. The ethos of the book seems to promote healthy eating, without the finger wagging guilt. I would buy this book for many people who like to add a twist of fun in the kitchen, enjoy healthy eating, and easy cooking. I have worked as a chef; I have worked in the catering business for 3 decades. I keep a blog about delicious healthy recipes. I am writing my own book called Finger Lickin Food in Minutes. I love this book.
Due to be published Oct 15 2024 by Storey Publishing. £16.99 pre-order in hardback by Amazon
This is my own honest review. Thanks to NetGalley and Storey Publishing for an advance copy
i really like the step by step photos to help people to visually learn how to do a certain skill. The book as a whole is really colourful. At the start of the book it gives you lessons on how to do things and how to stay safe in the kitchen. This book will allow children (and the grown ups) to be as creative as they like. This book goes right back to the basics, to help children to learn how to gain confidents in the kitchen. I think the way that it is written is easy to follow and relatable for the grown ups. The photos are interesting and catch your eye, and I am sure that children will gain a passion for food through this book. I like the way that the recipes are shown in difficulty though how many spoons are on the page. There are fun doodles to engage the target audience more. As you go through the chapters it goes through the meal times. It also encourages people to use what they have at home, like if they are growing the ingredients or have the produce locally then to use it. I would say this book is aimed at slightly older children between 6 and 10, as some of the recipes are difficult for them to make. One chapter encourages children to make their dinner with their parents and i feel like this is important for children to do this as it can help them so much later on in life. There are healthy recipes as well as sweet treats which i think is good to show children a balance of food. I love the extras at the back of the book, such as recipe cards, place cards, and a game too!
I really enjoyed this book, and i know children will really love it, thank you for letting me read your book!
Knowing my kids' love for cooking, I picked up this book hoping they’ll find something fun to whip up.
This book has 7 chapters and Chapter 1 explains how to organize the kitchen, ingredients, measurements, caution while using sharp objects, kitchen vocabulary, etc. Every section in this chapter is accompanied by colorful photos.
The recipe section has everything from breakfast, lunch, snack, side, spreads and dips, mains, and desserts with clear instructions and step-by-step instructions that come with photos. There is a small intro to the dish and tips and tricks for serving the dish in a fun and innovative way. A pic of the final dish tells us what the finished dish will look like.
The recipe rating goes from 1 spoon to 3 spoons with 1 spoon representation being the easiest.
There are some pull-out sheets with place cards, stickers and labels, recipe cards, and game cards that kids will enjoy playing.
This book is especially charming because it features pictures of kids cooking each step of the recipe. These pictures are not only adorable but also inspirational and helpful for kids who are interested in learning to cook.
This is a beautiful cookbook that will be a wonderful guide and companion for kids who are interested in cooking and learning new recipes.
This cookbook is beautifully laid out, with very clear instructions and lovely photographs. There's a fantastic variety of recipes at different skill levels, suitable for children, students or anyone wanting to pick up basic cooking skills. The terminology is American, with a conversion chart provided for dry weights. I look forward to trying out many of these recipes!
Thank you to Netgalley and Storey Publishing for the review copy.
Cooking Class is a kid-friendly cookbook that makes preparing and eating healthy meals fun! The images are extremely helpful, showing exactly how to prep the food and what equipment to use. The recipes are not the basic ones that we sometimes see in kids cookbooks and instead give our young chefs a way to be creative while cooking and try meals that they may have never heard of before, like fish tacos or spring rolls. This would be a wonderful first cookbook for any child! The recipe cards and stickers in the back of the book are a really nice bonus too!
Loved this fun and accessible cookbook for kids (and adults who are learning to cook)! I tried out a few recipes with my kids and we all enjoyed ourselves. My kids were very proud of their new cooking skills!
Cooking Class is a great book to bring out if you want to do something fun with your kids, or teach them independence in the kitchen.
The recipes are simple and have fantastic visual aids. Kids will love flicking through the pages to choose a recipe.
This is also ideal for anyone who is new to cooking and wants to learn the basics.
Great option for getting kids interesting in cooking and trying new things! We have a lot of cookbooks but none have made the kids quite as excited as this one. They loved that there were pictures of children actually making the food rather than just the end product and it inspired them to give it a go.
There are lots of helpful tips and instructions at the beginning of the book however they lean on the wordier side and are a lot to take in at once. It might have been better to have those things spread throughout the book where they were most applicable.
The back of the book has a selection of fun stickers and recipe cards so kids can continue to add to their culinary collection.
All in all, a great recipe book that is sure to get even the pickiest eater to try something. Highly recommend to anyone with children 4+
This is an adorable cook book for kids. The recipes are very detailed and easy for kids to follow. I also really liked that in the beginning it gave lessons on different things in the kitchen. It provided safety tips and also some etiquette. I think this cookbook was well thought out and reasonable for kids skill levels. There were even some recipes that I learned!
I loved the accessibility of these recipes, from ingredients to step by step photos this was very nice.
May seem silly, but seeing the smoothie recipe made me extremely happy and nostalgic, reminding me of one of my first cookbooks as a kid.
I also loved the scavenger hunt/activity section. As someone with an incredibly picky eater child, items like this help engagement and buy-in to try new things.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this arc
This cookbook is a fantastic edition to any family kitchen, I liked all the educational tidbits from kitchen tools to how to set a table even how to fold a napkin. Step by step instructions and the recipes were very easy to read and follow. It was colourful and fun, this book would be a great gift for any child wanting to learn to cook.
I have two kids and am always on the lookout for recipes that the whole family will love and boy does this book deliver! Not only does it have recipes, it also teaches kids around the kitchen, and the importance of safety and good quality food. Unfortunately in today’s world kids are constantly being offered garbage food that is more of a food product than actual food. It is great this book helps kids at a young age to be comfortable around the kitchen.
I love that it is broken into 7 chapters:
Welcome to cooking class
Breakfast cafe
Lunch lessons
Snack attack
Eat your veggies
My first dinners
Time for dessert
This makes it super digestible (no pun intended 😝) as a reader, and easy to pinpoint the type of recipe you are looking for. My kids are huge into snacks and it’s great to have a whole chapter dedicated to that. It was also nice having the spoons rating system (ie one spoon is an easier recipe compared to three spoons). The pictures were also informative, especially for those just learning to read.
I would love to get a hardcopy of this book so we can keep it in the kitchen. I will definitely tell all my mom friends about this!
Special thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for sharing this with me in exchange of my honest review.
I reviewed this book before I let Zeva take over with it. I was impressed that it provides students with initial instructions on how to set up for cooking and safety tips. Each recipe gives a full overview of what items and food products are needed.
Cooking Class, 10th Anniversary Edition Book Review 3
I like how it is designed so that the kids can fully do everything independently. The detailed instructions already cover the standard questions that she typically asks when she is cooking.
I was shocked that some recipes in this kid’s cooking book were not exactly what I would picture kids wanting to make for themselves. There was a nice mixture of things they would like and fancier-style meals they could make for the whole family.
As an adult who was never taught how to cook outside of Waffle House, I also learned a few things! I like how the author did not make the reader feel dumb or assume knowledge was there for anything despite it being a 10th-anniversary edition.
If you have a budding chef, I highly recommend the Cooking Class, 10th Anniversary Edition book.
In this fun colorful cookbook young chef's will have a great time learning how to do recipes themselves. What initially drew me to this cookbook were the bright pictures and easy to follow steps. Deanna Cook selected recipes that will for sure appeal to kids from 0-99! I had a great time flipping through the pages and picking up on some helpful tips along the way.
If you are looking for a basic cookbook for your littles I would definatly check this one out! There is a good balance of recipes that kids will enjoy and parents can feel good about eating.
Not all recipes are completely independent but for sure talk about how to create independent skills in the kitchen !Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to review this advance copy of Cooking Class.
I was not influenced or paid for this honest review.
This colorful cookbook is full of basics every beginning cook needs to know. Pages have tips and tricks from young cooks (the young cooks are featured in photos throughout) and great recipes that will be made again and again. I will be purchasing this cookbook for my elementary library!
I love everything about this cook book. It gives very clear and concise instructions. It is filled with so many yummy recipes that my daughter and I can not wait to make together. A great way to create beautiful memories together.
Great kid’s cookery book. Lots of recipes with good instructions (with photographic prompts), can’t go wrong.
This book is perfect for young beginner chef! It has great directions and photos for each step of the recipe. It tells the reader in detail how to cook specific items. It's truly beginner friendly!
*I received a free eArc copy of this book from netgalley in exchange for an honest review*
This is a great book to use to introduce your child(ren) to cooking. It introduces basics in a fun way, and there's lots of color. Not only could it be used to introduce kids to cooking, it could be used by adults who aren't comfortable in the kitchen, people with executive disfunction problems, or college students learning how to feed themselves in the beginning. It is a perfect way to introduce and teach as it comes with step-by-step instructions with pictures..
I will be using some recipes for this, showing my 5 year old, and continuing to let her be involved in making her own meals. She is able to make pasta, and mac and cheese at her age now, but this cookbook will definitely be valuable in our kitchen to introduce her to more of a variety.
This is a perfect kid's cookbook! I love that it started with easy no-bake recipes and worked its way up in difficulty levels. It has some really fun ideas, and great, bright pictures! I especially liked the snack sections where child favorites like fruit roll-ups and goldfish are represented with homemade recipes. I'm excited to try some of these out!
Thanks to NetGalley, Deanna Cook, and Storey Publishing for the chance to read and review. My opinions are my own.
This is such a cute cookbook for kids! I love that it has so many pictures to help follow along with the recipes. I also really like that there are so many ways to make the recipes creative, with adding toppings or mixing and matching ingredients.
I think this would be perfect for young chefs!
My students are going to love this 10th anniversary edition of Cooking Class. The recipes were easy to follow. The pictures are helpful in demonstrating a technique or method. I learned a bit too even though I have taught others how to cook. Each chapter has several recipes each with different degrees of difficulty. This book is useful to a wide variety of ages and ability and can grow with a child as they master cooking techniques. I can see myself trying the recipes on my own as an adult as well. I can't wait to dive in and sample these goodies.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this arc. A great introduction to cooking for children. I especially appreciated the simple to read instructions and step by step pictures to guide!
This is a kids cookbook done well! Very cute, bright and exciting!
Thanks so much to NetGalley, Storey Publishing, Storey Publishing, LLC and Deanna F. Cook for giving me an ARC of this cool cookbook!
